Visual Basic 6 Free Tutorial
I know there are a lot of Free tuts out there but having used a few of them, most leave a lot to be desired.
I have dug up this tutorial site off the internet. And while I'm just getting into it its really good in that it takes NOTHING for granted about your knowledge as far as I can tell. This is something I haven't found in other tutorials. Even VB4 for Dummies.
In the couple hours I've been going through it it seems like the best VB tutorial I've come across for beginners. So I thought I would share this with everyone in case someone else is interested.

Visual Basic And Free Email Service
ok, im working on a small project... and it involves sending, and recieving emails...
now the sending part was simple enough, by using code that i found online, changing that, and using a smtp server.
But now how do i recieve emails? i will be gratefull for any help, and it doesnt matter what email service you use to show me... as long as it is a free service (like hotmail, yahoo, web.de, etc.).

What Version Of Visual Basic
I am currently starting a project developing a small system which will grow quite alot over the next few years
Previous similar systems that I have developed I have used Access & VBA
With This one I am using SQL Server with hopefully a Visual Basic front end.
My question is which version of Visual Basic should I use ?

Hi, im using a 6 year old version of Visual Basic(SP6) on my computer at college. I am trying to do INI files and i have downloaded a number of INITest programs and none of them work... could this be due to some settings or is it just plain to old?

Version Of Visual Basic
Is there somewhere you can look to see what version of Visual Basic a program was compiled in? If you use the Package and Deployment Wizard, does it create a file somewhere to store such information? (I know what verision I'm using, I want to find out what version some older programs that I'm responsible for maintaining are.)

Version Number In Visual Basic
What does the Major , Minor and Revision refer in Visual basic? How does this affect the Binary compatabilities in a project? Could any one suggest at what stage this major or minor or revision versions gets incremented. Also is there any relations with the Project compatibilities?

Rich Textbox Formatting [Visual Basic Version: 6.0]

I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. I'm making my first application for the document (both rich text formatted and plain text formatted) editing.
I've added too much tricks in my application e.g. Multiple Undo, Redo. Bullets as well as Numbering, Hyperlinking, Print Preview, Webpage Preview and many more... But I've some questions about Rich Textbox formatting. These are given below:
Q. 1. Is it possible to DROP CAP in Rich Textbox just like in Microsoft Office Word? Drop Cap is a feature which creates a large dropped initial capital letter of a specified paragraph. You can see this feature in Office Word.
Q. 2. How can we change the color of a Hyperlink in Rich Textbox without changing it by using custom ways e.g. SelForeColor property? (Changing the Default Blue Color of a Hyperlink to some one else)?
Q. 3. Is is possible to insert Mathematic Symbols e.g. Under roots, Squared, Greater or Lesser than, Integration, Derivation or else in Rich Textbox?
Q. 4 . In a table of Rich Textbox (table made by custom means in rich textbox), is it possible to sort it alphabetically?
Q. 5. How can I insert a line and a Break in a Rich Textbox?
Q. 6. Is it possible in Rich Textbox to add RTF Bookmarks in it?
Q. 7. How can we convert RTF code to HTML code?
Q. 8. Can we change the background of Rich Textbox? Not only the BackColor of Rich TextBox, to insert or set the Background Bitmap in Rich Textbox?

Codes Required To Integrate Crystal Report Version XI To Visual Basic 6.0
Can anyone help who has an idea in crystal report and visual
basic help me out here. The thing is in crystal report version
8.5 everything works absolutely perfect but we just got to the
crystal report XI and its quite difficult to link the crystal
report version XI to the visual basic 6.0 code, reason being
once upgraded all the reports and form we have in the version
8.5 wont be accessible anymore, so the potent option is to
establish a link between the version XI and the VB6 codes.

Word And Visual Basic [ How Can I Get The Save As Window Through Visual Basic? ]
Hi, I made a small program in visual basic that with the use of
Dim oWord as new word.application
Dim oDoc as new word.document
fills a document with some data from the visual basic.
I want when those data are loaded in word the save or save as window to appear.
The command oDoc.saveAs saves the document without even asking for a filename.
What Can I do?
Extracting Visual Basic Source Code From Visual Basic EXE
hi everyone,
Well actually the problem in my case is that i had mad an EXE in VB6 around a week ago and had stored the EXE and th source code in two diferent folders. By mistake somebody ha deleted the source code folder. I wanted to make some changes i the EXE code and Now i have only the EXE folder to deal with.
Is there any method by which i can extract the Visual Basic cod from the VB EXE. Is there any application or software which ca help me in this? Do give me the hyperlink for downloading th EXE for the extraction if possible.

Visual Basic Items Removed From Visual Basic.NET
A while ago (maybe up to a year) I had found a web page (probably a Microsoft MVP's home age) that had a list of about 100 things that were removed from Visual Basic in the transition to Visual Basic.NET. As it is, I would like to look at that again, but I can't seem to find it on my computer. Does anyone remember this page and/or have a copy of the link or the file that was on it. It has particular things like Debug.Print is no longer valid and MsgBox function is not supported. I've look on Microsoft's website and found a great deal of information about implementation difference, but I can't seem to locate this particular piece. If anyone could help I would appreciate it very much.

Code Change From Visual Basic.net - Visual Studio 2005
I am working on a tuturial that i have for Visual basic.net ( for now )
I am working with Visual Studio 2005.
I have been working on a code to change the text color by the name put into
the text box.
Visual Basic .Net code.
Label2.ForeColor = Color.FromName(TextBox1.Text)
i get the error
Name 'Color' is not declared.
I was wondering if someone can show me how things would be in Visual Studio.

Visaul Basic Version 4/5 And NT/2000
Hi please help: I don't know anything about VB and I am in a situation where I really wish that I don't have to make any changes for what I need to do as stated below.
we have a set of visual basic executables compiled with VB version 4 or 5 that are running on a PC with NT operating system.
There is an urgent need to upgrade the NT PC to windows2000.
Will there be any compatibility issue when we move the VB executables to the new PC with the win2000 on it?
Do I have to recompile and code for this?
Please help, Urgent.

Visual Studio.net Version Compatibility
I am currently taking a college course in Visual Basic.Net and I am a
beginner.
I bought Visual Studio.Net 2003 to do my homework at home. I built my
first project and e-mailed it to myself at school. When I tried to
open it in the lab, I got a message saying I couldn't open it because
it was created with a newer version. Evidently the lab is using Visual
Studio.Net 2002.
My professor doesn't just want the executable file, he wants all the
component files so he can compile it himself.
I read through the Help file and here's what I found:
Side-by-Side Installations of Visual Studio .NET
Visual Studio supports installation of versions 2002 and 2003 on the
same machine; however you should be aware of certain issues.
• Visual Studio .NET 2002 shipped with the Microsoft .NET Framework
SDK version 1.0. Visual Studio .NET 2003 ships with .NET Framework SDK
version 1.1. If you developed applications that reference .NET
Framework version 1.0 and attempt to open the solution in Visual
Studio .NET 2003, the references to .NET Framework are changed to
reference .NET Framework 1.1. You should review the latest .NET
Framework documentation for information on changes that might affect
your application. For more information, see Targeting a .NET Framework
Version and Installation and Setup.
• If you open and then save solutions created in Visual Studio .NET
2002 in Visual Studio .NET 2003, you can no longer open the solution
created in version 2002 in Visual Studio .NET 2002.
Specifying the Runtime Version for an Application
Applications created in Visual Studio .NET 2003 or later can be set to
target one or more versions of the common language runtime by setting
the Supported Runtimes property. By default, the latest version of the
common language runtime is used; specify a different runtime version
if you want your application to run on a previous version of the
common language runtime.
Caution Selecting a previous version of the runtime could cause the
application to fail if it references .NET Framework classes that did
not exist in the previous version. You should thoroughly test your
application against all specified versions. For more information, see
Working With Multiple Versions of the .NET Framework.
To specify the runtime version in Visual Basic .NET
Select the project in Solution Explorer.
On the Project menu, choose Properties.
In the Property Pages dialog box, select the Build node and click the
Change button.
In the .NET Framework Version dialog box, select a version option and
click Update.
My question is: Will specifying the runtime version allow my professor
to open the files in the older version? If not, is there anything else
I can do?
