Free Library
What i am trying to do is unload a DLL from memory. I can do it for my own process only.. but the dang thing attaches to a few other processes such as explorer.
When i use GetModuleHandle it returns the same for each process.. but cannot unload it except for my own executable.
Can anyone please find me an example which unloads a DLL continuously until it is gone from another process.
Let me know what i can do
Free ZIP/Cab Creation Library
Hi folks,
On occasion, I've seen messages posted on this board requesting help or code examples on how to create ZIP or extract ZIP files. The problem, as anyone that frequently reads this board understands, is that most people recommend shelling to winzip, purchasing a 3rd party control or trying to get the ZLIB library to work in VB (which can be challenging when trying to deal with the callbacks). With that in mind, I'd like to make folks aware of a FREE Cab/Zip creation library that I'm making available at: http://www.onid.orst.edu/~reeset/html/other/cab.html. On this webpage, you will find demo programs written in VB and IBASIC, as well as complete header files in VB, IBASIC and PowerBasic. The VB Demo file illustrates how to create a Windows CAB file and how to Create and Extract a Zip file (as well as use the built-in zlib string compression and decompression functions).
So what makes this library special? No dependencies. That's right, you do not have to include the zlib library, cab support library, VB runtimes, etc. to use this functionality on any Win 9x/NT platform. How can I do that? The required library files have been added into the cab10.dll as resource files. When a function is initialized, the cab10.dll extracts the necessary support libraries (like zlib) into a virtual memory and executes the functions from that memory address. This means that the support files are never written to your (or user's) computer -- they exist only in virtual space.
The cab10.dll supports zlib 1.1.4 and the most recent cab specs. laid out in Microsoft's Cab SDK (an open standard BTW).
Anyway, I hope folks find this useful. If you find problems or have questions, feel free to let me know.

thing is it keeps consuming ram untill it hangs the pc, are their any common methods to prevent this, or better still have some ram freed up at say 10 second intervals?

Free IDE For XML
As of date, does there exist an IDE that I can write XML in so that I do not have to worry about indenting the tags for readability? Writing them in Notepad might be a good way to learn XML the hard way, but is quite a bit of a botheration.
Michael J Young mentions in his book, Step by Step XML, that we can use the Text Editor shipped with Visual Studio 6 (Visual J++, Visual C++, Visual InterDev etc.) to write properly indented XML. I searched my system but found no such tool. You guys got something to write good XML in? I have Enterprise Edition.

How Can I Free Up RAM?

Completely and absolutely FREE is what my sanity will be from my mind if I mess up this puzzle that sits before me.
Can anyone help me out with creating a Registry Key, Writing to and Reading that particular file? I have no previous experience with this (Registry issues). Quite frankly, the idea of working in the registry without knowing exactly what to do is scary. I only have this one computer ATM. I don't want to screw it up, yet I wish to learn how to do this to more effectively create default/user defined settings for my VB programs. I am begging for some guidance as to what/how to do this.
