Hi,

I developed a Applicaiton in VB6, Access is the database. I used the FarPoint Control version 7. I compiled the project and created the exe through Package and Deployment Wizard. I installed in a client machine. During the installation i recieve the error

Failure writing to the system regirstry. The registry may be corrupt or you may not have the required permissions to write to the registry.

then if i contrinue after click the OK button for the above error the following error occurs next

Setup has encounered an error in the Registration Database.
and when i click OK , the following error occurs next

Quote:ODBC's SQLInstallDriverManager failed.

and when i click Ok then the following error occurs with the headin Setup Error 168

Setup has encountered a problem updating your system registry.

then the next error is

An error occured trying to update the Windows registration database.

when i click OK button , finally this error repeats for a very long time.

In this company all PC's has restrictions and only certain pervilleges. I think the administrator previlleges is need to register this control. Kindly suggest me is there any alternate way for this - to register controls. itried through regedit, but not suceeded.

I tried in another way, i used the Inno Setup Compiler and tried, still that too have problems but after the installation. But the problem occurs for the same control. fpspr70.ocx.
When i use InnoSetup and install and when i try to use the Form which has the FarPoint Control. the below is the error comes

Dont Want To Register A Dll
Hi there,

I have an application which uses my own dll's but when I deploy the program I dont want register the dll's just place them in the program folder (not system) I have a few applications that use the dll and dont want to get unstuck with different dll versions in the future - any ideas?

I looked at Declare function but this only declares a procedure in the library and not the whole library. Is there any way of adding a referance with path at run time - or am i missing somthing here?

Winsock Control - Remote Administration
Hello all again!

I was up late the other day, wondering of a way to contact my other computer downstairs and tell it to shut down. You know how lazy we peeps are, cant even be botherd to walk downstairs.

So I was wondering, if anyone knew of a way to use the Winsock Control to comunicate with a program running on my second computer. Using say, a port of 3539, probably wrong but i dont believe neither my or my other computer use that port.

We are on a constant connection, so I can easily send somthing to it without problem.

I have already written the code to start the winsock control and communicate, im just not sure of a way to send commands to it, which get activated with the code on it. Like say, there was the command, in the server program on my second computer, in the module, which was called Shutdown.
How would I send a message to that program to call Shutdown?

I appreciate any help, but please try to answer my main question, and not ask things which wont help. Like for my code which already communicates with the server. I will only do that privatly, not in a public forum.

Access Data Base Dont Work With Office Dont Installed.. =(
Hey guys!

I have an app that uses an access database.
Everything goes fine if the user have the office with the access installed.
But if someone try to use my app, in a computer that doesnt have the office installed, the file .mdb just cant be find by my app... My app return a message error telling me that the file was not found...But after that you install the access, if finds the file...

Why? =(

Theres a way to make the app works without the access installed?

I want to make a program to view the Live footage of a cam, on a remote machine. bc when I am away I would like to be able to still sort things out on my cam as its recording the outside of my house so, What I need it to do is have live footage an be able to turn it on an off fully from the remote location this being where I am. I can't figure how to do this so I am asking some one to point me in the correct direction thx...

Recently i used a Remote administration software.
EMCO Remote Desktop 1.0, a very nice program
Because so many reasons, 1 of them is it doesn't need a server program running, the client itself will copy the server program into the specified computer and run that in the specifief computer, amazing..!
It wondered me in so many ways.
i tried to make a program like that in vb6, but failed in so many things, that is....

1. I don't know to sendkeys CTRL+ALT+DEL
2. I don't know to capture screen with out taking into clipboard
3. i don't know to begin or end a task remotely.(because there is no server program
at first time)
4. i don't know how to transfer mouse position and screen bitmap so fastly, i can work
on a remote machine like a local machine, no difference.

Is all these are posible in vb or it possible only in VC++ ?

My one log file has become so big it has filled up the whole disk! The software does not allow me to delete the logfile - says it cannot delete a primary file.

Database Administration Application
I need some assistance creating a Database Admin/Editing application.

The application must be able to edit multiple database tables, but only one at a time based on user input. I was thinking of implementing a drop-down selection box for them to choose which table to work with.

The Database viewing component will be a DB grid control.

in the install program it was found that the front end was dependant on the user having IE4 or higher due to this browse control.

Got the IEAK kit and dont know what files i need to include.

Data Control Dont Recognize Database???
In my little project which have turned out to be something else what I intended to do when I started I have created an access database with tables,relations and all that.
Now I added a data control (I think that is what its called) to the form so I can pull the data from the db. Now it screams that it dont recognize the database, after some swearing I finally realized that my created DB is access 2000 and the data control don't know anything later than access 97. Can I somehow get the data control to understand access 2000 through code or do I miss something obvious here?

Register Control?
Hi!

I would like to register some controls on my PC. mschrt20.ocx and MSFlxGrd.ocx. I want to use them in UserForm

I have registered them using regsvr32. After executing this command it displayed that the succesfull registration was done.

After registration using additional control in toolbox I select these control, but trying to place them to UserForm the program still displaying "not properly registered" error message.

Please help.

I need to know a way that I can have my user register my commercial controls.

I could use the registry or an ini file, but the problem would be on the computer of a user that uses their program. I'm going to have msgbox popup saying "This control is not registered." everytime it is initialized, except for after they register.

Is there a way I can store inside the .ocx whether or not it's registered, like in some kind of resource file that's part of the .ocx?

Or does anyone have a better idea?

I have made one ActiveX control and made ocx by compiling it.

Now, i want to distribute it to a client on a cd.

I will be embedding the ActiveX in a HTML page, so that client can see it.

It is working fine on my machine as i have registered the ocx on my machine and i know the class id.

However, when client registers the ocx how will he get class id?
(class id will change after client registers the ocx on his machine)

MFC ActiveX Control Wont Register
This is very strange. I'm developing a custom ActiveX control using VC++ v6.0, to be used in a Visual Basic 6.0 app. I've got the first part of it done, and I wanted to test it's basic funcitons. It runs just peachy in the ActiveX test app in VC++. I can see the '.ocx' file in Project/References, I can refer to it, and apparently load it, but no icon appears in the Toolbox, and I can't seem to figure out how to place it on my form.

Stock Control VB Program With Cash Register Input

I have a Supermarket (shop) with 5 cash registers of model (Samsung SAM45).
I need to create a VB program that does Inventory control for the shop by
getting input from Cash Registers everytime a transaction is processed and
subtracting items purchased from inventory stock.

i have been looking for a solution for days now, i dont know how to do some thing in excel.
at the moment i have a worksheet with about 30 columbs and 90 rows
i use a listbox and command button to select a certain row which is then transfered to another worksheet.
can i get user to input a number which will then look at worksheet and pick the row that matches the input data and then transfer to diff worksheet

as i havnt got a clue how to do it

Dont Know What To Do?
I am working on a small project that requires user accounts. I have been hearing about using a hash file or creating one that way when a user saves his/her password the database will not display the actual password he/she enters in.

Right now I am using Access and I have two tables one for the admins and one for users. The fields are UserName and Password. I have the login form working fine right now. But, I wanted to do this with my program: At the first log-in notify the user that he/she must change there password. Then after they save it to the database they can continue using that as there new password.

I don't know much about hash files or if they even work with Access to hide the actual password? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
