Inserting Data From A Data Input Form In A Word Document
Hi

I have next to no knowledge of VB and have volunteered to create a template containing several input forms.

I have designed the forms in VBA (which include check boxes and combo box) but I have no idea how I’m going to get the data from the forms into the Word document.

For the form containing combo boxes, there could be several entries so I have 2 command buttons, one which should allow the user to add the contents of the combo boxes to a table in Word and then be able to add another entry to the table from the form. The other button should add the contents of the combo box to the table and close the form and open a new one.

I know I’m completely out of my depth here so any help would be greatly appreciated.

VB Inserting Data Through A Form
I am inserting data through a form and after that the form should get refreshed. This is not happening. Any suggestions as to what i should be doing.

Inserting Data And Going To New Form

My prob is that i have a Pkey which is an autonumber.

So when i insert values using a button, the value should be inserted and a new form should be refreshed, Now if the ID field( which is autonumber) is refreshed, it gives eror as it cant be null. WHat is the way that i can refresh it and get a new autoid.

Access: Inserting Data Into A Form

I have a form (Form Returned), and I have a fields on it that when a button is pressed, it runs a query and brings that data into the form from existing tables.

The problem is finding a way to bring the data in.
I get a Syntax Error on the INSERT INTO line.

I have a feeling INSERT INTO doesn't work on forms.
Can anyone suggest another way to do this?

Inserting Data From VB Form Into Excel
Please I am experiencing a problem. When i input information into my form, it is overwritting the rows in my excel sheet, how can i code it in such a way that it inserts the data in the form (text boxes) into a newly created row?

Will These Forms Transfer Data To Main Form?
Im creating a db application...frmMain contains all the records.
But I have also created about 5 different forms to search for records:

frmSearchByTrackingID 'searches record based on the records ID.
frmSearchByName 'text search on a field
frmSearchByShortDescription 'text search on another field
frmSearchByMyRecords 'form to search for records created by that user

frmSearchByOriginatorDocs 'form to search of other people who created the record
etc.....

But Im confused as to how to perform this checking across my frmMain or any recordset for that matter. Since everything is unbound and i write code to fill in the fields and recordset...

My question is since these are different forms how can I tell my main form to base its search on the text field from various forms? Especially since after the user enters his search criteria and hits ok the form is CLOSED....!!!! Now what happens to the data? Its gone!!! How do I maintain it? Thanks for any help

To become familiar with this imagine one form displaying some records...they click a button and it opens another form say on top of this main form. This form has a text field and an ok button. They type in what they are looking for and then they click ok. But this form must close when they click ok..but the contents of the text box must be based against all these records!!!!

Use Events With Mdi Form To Update Child Forms Data
I have an mdi form that acts as a parent frame for multiple forms in my app.

One of these forms is a user search form (frmUserSearch.frm), which displays its results in a flexgrid. When the user clicks the grid, it opens up the UserView form (frmUserViewer.frm).

The problem is that if i update the details on the frmUserViewer page, the details are not updated/ reflected on the frmUsersearch form, and they need to be.

what is the best way of managing this situation?

I was thinking of using an event called "UserUpdated", which, when fired, will tell the forms to basically refresh, pulling the new fresh info from the db. But where do i place these events? Should i place the event in the mdi parent, that tells the child forms to refresh the user object? If so, how

Inserting Data Using SQL
I am trying to insert data into a table and can't seem to do it.

The database is Access 2000 and everthing I have read about SQL suggests the INSERT iNTO command which Access doesn't recognize.

I can select the records I want using the following code:

Inserting Data With ' In It Using Sql
When creating an SQL string to Insert or update.. or do anything with a record.. if you have a ' in the data as in

"SELECT * FROM table WHERE UserId = ' " & txtUserId & " ' "

if user id was "john's" then you get an error because of the ' in the ID.. it doesn't parse the SQL statement right because it thinks that the ' is where the string ends....

isn't there a way to use ' in your strings when dealing with SQL other than doubling it as '' ???? right now I have a function that replaces ' with '' in strings but you can't run it on the entire SQL statement.. only on the strings before you make the sql statement....

here is the code I'm using right now and it works fine as you can see if sheet2 looks like this:

then the formula will insert a "1" in sheet3 cell A5,A9,A15,A33and A40 the problem is repetitive numbers
if the A column looks like this

1 1
2 4
3 1

then sheet 3 column A cell A1 should have a "2" and cell A4 would get "1"
the data is always 3 different numbers or 1 number and 2 repetitive numbers or
3 repetitive( in which case a "3" would be inserted

MDI Form With Child Forms - External Form/window To Interact With Child Forms?
Hi,

I am creating an application which has an MDI Form containing 2 child forms.

I need to somehow create either a floating toolbar or some sort of external form (ie. not a child form) which is able to interact with the child forms.

Is this possible? If so, any feedback on how to create it would be much appreciated

I need to insert data at the top a of a file. These files can be huge and therefore I dont want to have to re-write the whole file.

I need a prepend function that will very quickly add a single line (column headings) as the first line in the file (as opposed to an Append function)

I have already managed to populate the MSHFlexgrid.

Collecting Data From One RTF Box And Inserting Into Another
My aim is to have the user input data into various rich text format boxes and then by clicking a command button for this text to be inserted into various places in an SQL paragraph in another RTF box.

e.g RTF_1 = results RTF_2 = 20

RTF_3 (SQL BOX) = show 'RTF_1'
where price = 'RTF_2'

the sql is incorrect here but this is just for ease of the example.

to an extent it works but it also inserts all of the font type and size etc, not just the text the user has entered. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I have set up a form from which I hope to update a DB. I have 3 textboxes (Txt1, Text2, Text3). I want to insert date into a table with corresponding columns.

I've managed to connect to the DB using ADO, and return data to a list box from one column using a select statemen.

Can somebody point me in the right direction re: inserting data.

im trying to add to a table, what is stored in an array, i thought id do as follows:

but cuming up wiv error "Argument not optional" for ".Value"

I need to insert some data into an EXE file, which my app will read... how can I do it in such a way that the computer won't want to run it, and it won't mess up the EXE?

Maybe I can put it at the beginning, and set the pointer in the header? How do I do that? I don't have any sound information, so I don't want to try it...

Inserting Data Into MSACCESS
Im trying to insert data into access. The table im inserting into is linked to two other tables. I keep getting the following error

You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in Skill

Basically i am using the following query

Inserting A Data In A Blank Raw
Am trying to creat a hotel reservation project and i have created a table in access and this table has 40 maximum numbers. This table has Custname, RoomNumber, datein and dateout fields. Is there way i can use vb code so that if it reaches that dateout the name of the customer, datein and dateout gets deleted leaving RoomNo undeleted, and if i can just insert the name of the customer in a blank row.

If I check the value of the txt_frmwp_wing_id at line shown in red it shows me the contents that I entered, but the when it comes to the line shown in blue it shows me that txt_frmwp_wing_id is empty.
how can I resolve this error
follwing is the structure of my table

Inserting Data Into Access
Hi all

I have a strange problem. I have a table in MS Access with 2 fields. I have bound this table to text fields in the form. Now the problem is if the table is empty, when I run the program and enter something in the textbox and press tab to go to the next textbox, whatever written in textbox1 disappears same with textbox2. But if there is even one row in table, then everything works fine. Did anybody get this type of problem. Any help is appreciated.

eg if the list box is called listbox1 and there are 2 fields in the list box file1 and file2. I want to assign them to load a specific windows media file, so that when selected, only the play button is needed to start.

I doing a project on online exam. There are two tables question table and subject table(Access database). In the subject table there are two fields sub_id and sub_name. In the question table there is sub_id field. In the dataentry screen there is a combo box of subject name. I want that while data entry when the user selects the subject name from the combobox the corresponding subject id should be entered in the question table.

Inserting Autotext From Form
Can anyone help a complete newbie?
I have tried various and assorted bits of code to insert autotext into a document, depending on clicked options in a user form. User selects the text they want inserted, text is inserted automatically from the attached template into the new document. Big BUT, of course, every way I have tried to do this ends up with the first 260 or so characters of the autotext block being inserted, and then NOTHING.

Am I missing something completely obvious somewhere?

Basically, can someone help me do this:

Insert a big block of autotext from the attached template at bookmark "bmk" and not just the first 260 characters of said big block of text

Hi there,

I have a very strange situation:

In the past I have worked on a number of apps. Every app was stored in a seperate directory, each with it's own objects (forms, modules, class modules etc)

I'm currently reorganising my apps, and I have decided that the common objects should be in a separate directory. So I have done that. It has costed my some time, but everything is more controlable now.
Before I wanted to remove my old versions I was checking the apps for proper executing and.....

I have an app with 5 forms, 3 common forms (frmLogin, frmLoginerr, frmAbout) and 2 forms of the project itself (frmUser and frmUserInsert). In order to organise my modules to common used objects I had to rename the form frmUser to frmMain.

While running I have a button on frmUser that opens frmUserInsert, with a reference to the combobox (cboUser):

In code:

frmUserInsert
form_load()
txtUser = frmUser.cboUser.text

But since I had to rename my form frmUser, I replaced the frmUser in the code for frmMain.

frmUserInsert
form_load()
txtUser = frmMain.cboUser.text

When I run my app I get an error-message telling me:
Method or data member not found.
when I type frmMain. in my frmUserInput form the cboUser does not appear in the popup list.

But when I create a new form, and type frmMain. the cboUser does appear in the popup list.

I know it's a lot of text, but I hope you get the picture of my situation.

I also think the solution is relatively simple, but I don't have a clue where to start.
Can somebody please help me.
