Inserting The CC Recipient Address In An Outgoing Email ExcelOutlook

Hi All

I have a macro, that runs in Excel, part of it creates an outgoing email using Outlook. I am able to insert the "To" recipients easily, however when I try to insert the "CC" recipient it inserts the recipient name in the "To" field.

The code, in part is listed below:
myItem.Recipients.Add "dittmemo@telkom.co.za"
Set myRecipient = myItem.Recipients.Add("dittmemo@telkom.co.za")

Set myRecipient = myItem.Recipients.Add("dittmemo@telkom.co.za")
myRecipient.Type = olCC

The top two lines do the same function, inserting the recipient name in the "To" field.
The last two lines are meant to insert the recipient address in the "CC" field. This does not work, I have copied this code from the visual basic help in Outlook.

Please tell me where I am going wrong and possibly supply the correct code to use.

Thanks and rega rds

Miles

CDO 1.2.1 MAPI Cannot Resolve Recipient In Address List Other Than GAL
In my application I have an email alias. If this exists in the Global Email List I can use the Recipient Resolve method to confirm email exists. However the list I wish to check against is another list in the address book. I know in Outlook I can manually add the address list to the search path, however I do not wish users to have to do so. I need to be able resolve the address in my vb code. I can get the address list and search through using a for each loop with the PR_ACCOUNT property however my list contains 70,000 entries so this is time prohibitive. Can anyone tell me how I could use vb to update the default outlook profile to add the address list to my addressing property or is there property I can set so that when resolve is called it will check in my list?
Thanks
Richard.

Getting A Recipient/contact Item From Address Book
Hi, does anyone know how I can access/create a Recipient object, or ContactItem object, by passing in a string alias for that contact and returning the full Recipient/ContactItem object. I'm using VBA and Outlook 2000.

Basically I'm looking for a way to do a search in someone's address book for 2 names and seeing if those 2 items are equal.

My problem is that I want to automatically create tasks and assign them to people, but if the task was automatically created for myself, I can't assign it to myself because outlook won't let you delegate it to yourself. Also its not as simple as checking the tskItem.Owner = assigneeItem, because the tskItem.Owner is myself, but the assigneeItem is a string representing an email alias from a database.

Also how do I get a contact item or user name or some identification of the person whose outlook I'm running in?

Email Recipient Problems
Hi guys, take a look at the below code. It works in a fashion! But because I have a loop in place, each time it loops if recipient 2 is blank it adds recipient 2 from the loop before.

Is there a way of clearing the recipients each time I start the loop, and if it doesn't find a recipient can I get the code to continue without it? Thus leaving just one recipient in the To: box. Oh yeah, and no jokes about my error handler thank you!

Any help would be appreciated.

File, Send To, Email Recipient
Hi.

How would I go about creating a menu item such as file, send to, email recipient?

The users of my program (employees and coworkers) will be editing a file that I need emailed back to me, and I'd like to have an interface built into the program that will make this easier for them. I'd also like my email address to autoinsert into the "to" line in outlook express (which is default mail client for all of my users), and the file attachment to be autoinserted into the "attachment" line.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

VBA Email Word Document To Recipient With Pix

Private Sub cmdSubmit_Click()

Dim AppPath As String
Dim Prompt, Prompt2, Answer, Answer2

     .Cc = User
     .Body = ActiveDocument.Content
     .Subject = "Form" 'Form name
     ActiveDocument.SaveAs FileName

     WordBasic.SendKeys "(%{1068})"
     DoEvents
     Prompt = "Do you want to submit this form?"

             If Answer2 = vbOK Then
                Unload Me

          End If
    End With
    If bStarted Then
       OutApp.Quit
    End If
    'Clean up
    Set OutMail = Nothing
    Set OutApp = Nothing
End Sub

I seem to be getting run-time errors, but the form does submit and email the image in the body of the email. All I need to do is "clean up" the code and eliminate the errors. Try running the code. Any suggestions? DAVE

Resolve Multiple Distribution List Contacts As Email Recipient
With the code below, my problem occurs when I attempt to resolve a recipient and Outlook identifies mutiple recipients in the Personal address book that have similar names. I need to be able to resolve this programmatically. Let me Explain:

I am currently using the code below to send emails from an access database using redemption (I can't use Docmd.sendobject b/c the process is automated and docmd.sendobject triggers the outlook security prompt.) I am using this method b/c we have distibution lists in the Personal address book of a specific exchange account and need to send certain reports to certain dist. lists. My problem is that when I pass a distribution list name that is similar to another (Example My distribution list and My Distribution list 1, outlook can't resolve it and the email then sits in the drafts folder until someone manually selects the correct contact and sends it. How can I resolve this issue? Manually, if i clicked on "To:" and selected the correct recipient from the PAB it would work. How can I do this programmatically?

I have thought about simply changing the dist list names but that is a band-aid rather than a long lasting solution.
Code:
Public Sub SendRedemptionEmail(ByVal strRecipients As String, _
Optional ByVal strSubject As String = "", _
Optional ByVal strMessage As String = "", _
Optional ByVal strAttachment As String = "")

Dim ProcedureName As String
Dim strLogError As String
Dim strRecipientList() As String
Dim SafeItem, oItem, olApp, Namespace, Utils
Dim i As Integer

Set Utils = CreateObject("Redemption.MAPIUtils")

'format strRecipients string with semicolons.
strRecipients = Replace(strRecipients, ",", ";")
strRecipients = Replace(strRecipients, "; ", ";")

strRecipientList() = Split(strRecipients, ";")

Set olApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set Namespace = olApp.Getnamespace("MAPI")
Namespace.logon

'Create an instance of Redemption.SafeMailItem
Set SafeItem = CreateObject("Redemption.SafeMailItem")
Set oItem = olApp.CreateItem(0) 'Create a new message

SafeItem.Item = oItem 'set Item property
For i = LBound(strRecipientList) To UBound(strRecipientList)
SafeItem.Recipients.Add strRecipientList(i)
Next
If strAttachment <> vbNullString _
And Dir(strAttachment) <> "" Then
SafeItem.Attachments.Add strAttachment
End If
SafeItem.Recipients.ResolveAll
SafeItem.Subject = strSubject
SafeItem.Body = strMessage
SafeItem.send
Utils.DeliverNow

On Error Resume Next
Namespace.logoff
Set oItem = Nothing
Set SafeItem = Nothing
Set Namespace = Nothing
Set olApp = Nothing

Utils.CleanUp
Set Utils = Nothing
Exit Sub

EMAIL ADDRESS FORMAT For Exchange Global Address Book Adresses
Hi
I want to display all the entries of MS Exchange Global Address List (GAL) in the following format

Name Email Address
=======================
John Mcenzie john@xyz.com
Ron Stewart ron@xyz.com

This requirement looks quite simple and the problem that I am facing is not in retrieving values from GAL but is in the ADRESS FORMAT in which I'm getting the "Email Address" from AddressEntry Object.

I'm using 'Address' method of the AddressEntry object and returns me the adddress in following format.

/o=XYZ Corporation/ou=ae/cn=Recipients/cn=john Mcenzie

and the Address Type for the above address is 'EX' which I guess is the abbrev. for 'Exchange' format.

Can anyone please tell me how can I display it in a SMTP format (john@xyz.com)?

Source Code
----------------
Private Sub cmdDisplay_Click()
Dim objmapiSession As MAPI.Session
Dim objmapiAddressList As AddressList
Dim objmapiAddressEntries As AddressEntries
Dim objmapiAddressEntry As AddressEntry

Set objmapiSession = New MAPI.Session

'Logon to the MS Exchange server

Retrieving Email Address From Global Address Book
I use CDO to open the outlook addressbook.
After the user selects an address entrie, I want to get the name, and the email address of the selected entry.
The name is no problem, but the address property of the addressentrie shows the exchange server address, while I want to get the SMTP address (someone@somewhere.com)

Does somebody know how to get this?
If it is possible to display the addressbook dialog with a different method than using CDO then thats fine too.

How Can You Send A Email From Any Email Address?
Is there a online version for this or is this only possible thru VB

Anyone know how i can send emails from any adress?

Inserting An Address Into Word From Public Contacts
In MS Word, there is a simple function you can use to insert an address from your default address book (Application.GetAddress), but I cannot figure out how to use this function (or any other built-in ones) to allow you to search for and insert an address from a specific public contact list.

For example: Assume the Exhange server has a Public Folder which contains a public contact list of "Sales Clients"

If a user in our company needs to type a formal letter to a client (inserting the address at the top of the page), they would like to be able to insert the address from this centrally maintained contact list using just keystrokes or with VERY few clicks of the mouse. If you use the function mentioned above, there is a very simple interface that you can use to search the current contact list, but no option to force the function to refer to a different contact list (yes, you can change which contact list they reference with a drop-down list in the top right corner once the InsertAddress function is running). Our users just will NOT like having to go thorugh all these steps to reselect the correct contact list each time. (our users type letter to clients MANY times a day) These few additional steps may seem paltry, but to users typing dictation speed and ease of use is everything! (They do EVERYTHING possible with keystrokes and try not to use the mouse unless they HAVE to)

Simply put, is there a function I can use or create to prompt the user to search for a specific client in this pubilc contacts list without having to change their default mail profile? (if that was changed, they would have the same troubles with having to change contact lists when they wanted to send inter-office email)

Thanks for any advice you can give... I'm stumped

Inserting An Address Into A Word Document From A Public Folder
I need to set up a macro for our secretaries that will search a centrally stored contact list in an Exchange public folder. This search should result in finding a matching name and inserting the address to the document they are working on... (If multiple names are found that match, a choice should be given to select the name they require)

This needs to work exactly the same way the WordBasic.InsertAddress function works EXCEPT that I need to define the correct contact list (address book) to use. The InsertAddress function uses the system default and will not work in this case. (The default address book in their mail profile cannot be changed)

PLEASE send me any information you think may be relevant to get this project rolling.

I have tried so many crash-and-burn methods and I'm getting nowhere fast!

Thanks!
-Josh

Need To Send An Email Using The "From" Email Address Field
Hi there everyone,

I have an issue with I would have thought would have been easy, but i need the abilty set the From email address field in Outlook. I can set To, CC, and even BC, but can not seem to set the From field. I am hoping i am having a goldfish moment.

Below is a snippet of the code i am using, and i have tried using, .from, .sender but can't seem to get it to work. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated, as this is important.

As i said, I am hoping it is easy, and i am just have a brain fade.

----------------------
Dim objOutlook
Dim objOutlookMsg
Dim olMailItem
Dim objAttachements
' Create the Outlook object and the new mail object.
Set objOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set objOutlookMsg = objOutlook.CreateItem(olMailItem)
' Define mail recipients

objOutlookMsg.Sender = "sender@somewhere.com.au"
objOutlookMsg.To = "to@somewheredifferent.com.au"

Again, any thoughts?

Thanks
Graeme

Validating An Email Address
Hi. Im making a mail server and i would like to know how i should be validating email addresses. Ive been reading the protocol document but it doesnt seem to say exactly what to look for.

Ive been testing with the one built into windows server 2003 and found some strange results. The address "" is not valid and neither is "]" but the address "]" is valid. Is this due to escaping? Even though i send "]" and the server replies with "]@domain.... etc" would the actual address in the server be "]"?

Email Address In Form?
Hi everyone!

I've been doing some html pages lately, and i was wondering if there was any way of putting an email address on a form so that when it is clicked it opens up the email client and inserts the address in the recipient box, exactly like in html.

Is there a way of doing this, as i'm writing a program, and would like users to provide feedback to fix bugs etc.

Any help would be appreciated!

Many Thanks
MAt

Default Email Address
Hello,
I'm trying to somehow retrieve user's default emaill address from MS Outlook or from Windows itself. I've been looking into registry and found the following path:

HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTIdentities{66308FCE-0639-4DA7-AED3-9700A8CD8F72}SoftwareMicrosoftOutlook Express5.0Mail

I don't quite know how to use it, so any help is appreciated.
How, if ever, can I use it to retrive the email address ?
Is there a way to retrive similar information ?

Thank You.
Vladimir

Extract Email Address
I am going to extract email addresses from a text file.
So, I have to read each line first.
That's OK.
After that I have to find the first @ character in the line.
That's OK too.
Then I have to pick it up from the string, let me explain more:
For example my text is :

Code:
textfile which is provided by email@address.com and mail@domain.com.
I have to find the first @ in the string:

Code:
InStr(1, Text1.Text, "@")
This will return 36.
OK, I have to go back in the string untill I reach a space or any non-number and non-character and start the string from there.
Alos, I have to go on until I reach a space or any non-number and non-character and end the string there.
This string should be an email address, I will verify it later.
For now, I need just help to do this.
Will any one help me ?

NT Username/Associated Email Address.
Hi folks. I'm new here and also new to VB (well not to VB but I sure can't claim I know what I'm doing)

Here's my question.

I would like to be able to use an input box function to enter an NT username and have it retrieve the associated NT groups that user belongs to as well as the default email address associated with that NT user account.

Can someone point me in the right direction here to get started please?

TIA
Todd

Email Address Verification
I'm looking for a 3rd party application (ideally a COM dll) which will do full email address verification. I can do the format checking of the email address string (one '@' symbol etc.) relatively straightforwardly but I would also like to check that the domain exists and then that the email address exists on that domain and these steps look a lot more tricky (am I right in thinking this ?). Any suggestions would be welcome.

Email Address Generater!

Is There A Way To Verify An Email Address
I have a big dilemma, I have written a VB program that is used to identify invalid or bogus email addresses. I have never done a program like this before and the design didn't work. Is there a way to write code that can tell whether an email address is valid or not?

Desparately,

Email Address Validation
I'm using this code

VB Code:
Private Function CheckEmail(email)    Dim s    Dim s1       Dim atCnt                s1 = email    CheckEmail = True                ' chk length    ' a@b.c should be the shortest an    ' address could be    CheckEmail = CheckEmail And (Len(s1) >= 5)                ' chk format    ' has at least one "@"    CheckEmail = CheckEmail And (InStr(s1, "@") > 0)                ' has at least one "."    CheckEmail = CheckEmail And (InStr(s1, ".") > 0)                ' has no more than 3 (or 2) chars after last "."    If Len(s1) - InStrRev(s1, ".") = 2 Then        'checking the country        s = Left(s1, InStrRev(s1, ".") - 1)        atCnt = InStrRev(s, ".")          If atCnt = 0 Then atCnt = InStrRev(s, "@")          CheckEmail = CheckEmail And (Len(s) - atCnt = 3)    ElseIf (Len(s1) - InStrRev(s1, ".") < 2 Or Len(s1) - InStrRev(s1, ".") > 3) Then        'if it's less than 2... there's not a country        'if it's greater than 3... there's not a subdomain        CheckEmail = False    End If                ' ' has no "_" after the "@"    If CheckEmail Then        s = Mid(s1, InStr(s1, "@") + 1)        CheckEmail = CheckEmail And (InStr(s, "_") = 0)    End If            ' has only one "@"    atCnt = 0    s = s1    Do        If Instr(s1, "@") Then             atCnt = atCnt + 1                          s1 = Mid(s1, Instr(s1, "@") + 1)         End If    Loop Until Instr(s1, "@") = 0     CheckEmail = CheckEmail And (atCnt = 1)          End Function
to check if an email address is valid or not. I apologize for being on VBScript, but that's the version of one of my ASP pages.

The problem is that any email like "user@global.co.za" would return as an invalid email. So, the questions are:

Is there any other type of address that would not be allowed by this code?
Is there any other two-chars-long subdomain in the domain which doesn't belong to the country (e.g.: "co")
