Installation On Windows 2000 And Outlook 2000

I have a vb application developed on a windows 2000 machine with outlook 98. i used the package and deployment wizard to create the package. The package seems to install fine on a windows 2000 machine with outlook 2000 but when the user ran the application it opened the login form and after entering the user id and password after clicking ok, windows prompts for the outlook 2000 cd. The application worked fine only when the user put the outlook 2000 cd and windows could find the file it was looking for. i assume it is probably looking for some dll but it is kind of strange. Please help. Is there something in the package and deployment wizard?
Thanks

I have a problem installing on some win2000 platforms, but other clients have no problem. I catch an error telling me to restart the computer because of initial settings, but when restarting nothing happens and the message occurs again. Problems With Windows 2000 Installation
Greetings,
I developed a program with VB6 on Windows NT. When I try to set up the program ( via Deployment Wizard ) under Windows 2000, it says that some setup components are perimate and that Windows needs to reboot to put the new components up to date. Works for me but even when I am rebooting, it is telling me the same message over and over, as if the components were never updated
Some body knows what I am talking about ?
Thanx !

Installation Of VB Programs On Windows 2000
I am developing a program which I run through the Package & Deployment Wisard and sent to a client. He is however not able to set it up and get the following message during installation:
"The application or DLL C:WINNTsystemMSCOMCTL.OCX is not a valid Windows image. Please check this again your installation diskette. "

I know there is some problems in using the PDW for installation under Windows 2000, but as this is the first time I ever pack and distribute an application, I have no clue how to get around it. Any suggestions anyone?

I enclose the setup.lst (renamed setup.txt just in case the answer can be found there.

Thanks in advance.

Using Access 2000 To Send Emails Through Outlook 2000
I remember running across a very small piece of code a few weeks ago but for the world of me, cannot find it now and I desperately need it. This piece of code was vbscript, it basically created an smtp server and sent mail using that smtp server instead of relying on outlook to do it.

I have an access database that needs to send roughly 520 individual messages based on criteria for that specific requested area (this is not spam either, this is requested information). It worked fine until I upgraded Outlook to the latest service packs and therefore no longer works. It prompts you with the standard MS security dialog asking for permission to send the email, I can tell it yes, it will prompt me once more, I tell it yes, then it just stops. The job process never completes. I do not want to have to revert back to an "unpatched" version of outlook and the piece of code I mentioned earlier would be ideal to use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Migration To Office 2000 And Windows 2000
I have a general question concerning Access 97 to Access 2000 migration and operating system migration.

I am in the midst of writing a program using VB 6 Professional with Access 97 as storage in the Windows NT 4.0 operating system.

We are about to change over to Office XP and Windows 2000 professional.

Are there any known issues with either change that I can prepare for now?

SQL 2000 Personal Ed. Installation
Hello Colleagues…

I had been installed the SQL 2000 Personal Ed. on my laptop which is client in a windows server 2003 domain, and the O.S. of the all the clients is widows XP professional. The SQL 2000 Personal Ed. works properly on the computer and I can establish ODBC connection from the same client to the SQL server via MS Access or VB6. The problem is that I can`t establish ODBC connection from other client. Note that I set the SQL accessing to be via windows authentication.

Is the problem with the edition features or there is some network system setting, hope to get a solution.

Office 2000 Installation Starting
Hi Guys,

I have a compiled EXE that when launched causes the Office 2000 installer to start and install a bunch of fonts. The trouble is that we don't WANT those fonts installed for reasons I won't bore you with.

From everything I can see the project (which is pretty large/complex) uses only Verdana and MS Sans Serif, both of which we DO have loaded.

Any idea why Office 2k is trying to install fonts?

Thanks!

I am trying to update my sql server 2k to service pack 3a. I am trying to do this so i can evaluate the new sql server reporting services application. For some reason, after running the two files (sql2ksp3.exe and sql2kasp3.exe) in the same order that Microsoft instructed. After doing so, i've rebooted my pc, and my system still shows i have Microsoft Sql Server 2000 with Service pack 1, and it will not allow me to complete the installation of the trial version of the reporting services until i upgrade to service pack 3.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Custom Database Viewer Will Open In Windows XP But Not Windows 2000 Operating System
Hello,

I have a VB 6.0 program that was created in Windows XP that allows people to view microsoft access data in a custom form using ADO technology. In order for this to work I have code that will check the users system folder to see if MSBIND.dll is in there. IF it isn't then it will install it as it is needed to view the data. The program works fine in Windows XP but now I have tested it out in Windows 200 and I get databinding errors.

I use the system function "GetWindowsDirectory" and when I check to see where msbind.dll is being stored it says C:WINNTSystem32MSBind.dll

I guess my question is, is this where I should be putting my msbind.dll? If so and the dll is not my problem, does anyone know of any problems that could be encountered by a Windows 2000 machine but not a Windows XP machine?

Thank you

Windows Socket Problem Between Windows 2000 Server And XP Professional
It used to work between Windows 2000 server and 2000 professional. When windows 2000 was upgraded to XP prof., it didn’t work. It can’t connect to the remote machine.

Is it possible related to XP's config. such as firewall? i turned the firewall off and it didn't work either.

Is it might related to the new WinSock APIs from XP (Mswsock.dll)? BTW, some codes were copied online posted by Mr. Oleg Gdalevich.

Did anyone have this problem or similar problem? Does anyone has an idea what’s the problem and how to fix it? Thank you so much.

Outlook 2000 Add-in
I created an add-in for Outlook 2000 which I want to be run when user clicks Tools->My Add-in.

I followed the MSDN articles (as crap as they are) to create the add-in. Everything worked fine, I create the DLL and it shows up in the COM add-in manager within Outlook. Problem is, no item on the Tools menu.

Here's what i did:

1. New project->Add in.
2. On Deisgner (DSR) added relevant info.
3. Didn't change anything in the form.
4. Compiled.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Outlook 2000
Okay, this is my first posting on vbCity. I've got a couple of questions regarding Microsoft Outlook.

First I'm trying to find a way in VB to check if Outlook is installed. My first attempt was to set an object = to Outlook.Application (Using the Microsoft Outlook 9.0 Object Library) and trap the error. When I do this on a machine that does not have Outlook installed, it begins the install process. Is there anyway to check if Outlook is installed on the local machine without this happening?

My second question is how do I find out the outlook sessions email address? I can get the current users name, but can't seem to find a way to get the actual email address of the user.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Outlook 2000 And PAB
Hi Gang

I am working on an Outlook 2000 project where I am designing an interface to build task assignments. Everything is working beautifully except that I cannot figure out how to get the PAB (personal address book) to pop up when a button is clicked so that the task can be assigned. I am trying to pull up the same one that appears when you click the "to" button on a new email. I am hoping that it is simply a few lines of code. Then again this is an MS product.

Also I am trying to figure out how to run my program from within Outlook. I need to add a button to the tool bar I would suspect. I have tried running it as a macro but outlook doesn't seem to be aware of it. I wrote the program from the VB environment in Outlook.

The beginner book I have for programming Outlook doesnt seem to have anything concerning either of my problems. If I don't have access to the PAB directly maybe there is some code out there that someone has written to bring up the address book. I can't imagine that I am the only person that wants to use the address book.

Mail Merge Access 2000 With Word 2000/XP And Pass Variables
Hi, I debated posting in newbies, because I'm kind of learning VBA on the fly, and am not very good at all.

I am trying to Mail Merge an Access 2000 database with Word 2000 & Word XP.

I modified the code I got from the Microsoft Solution Base to try to introduce variables to allow me to merge more than one table and SQL query with more than one Word document.

This code works without the variables, when I just type everything directly. Unfortunately, I need the ability to merge multiple documents/tables.

Sorry if its sloppy code, I haven't really got much of an idea of what I'm doing in VBA yet.
Can anyone help me debug this, and maybe give me the syntax to use in my Macro for MergeIt(var,var,var)

I also need a way to email similar form letters. This is for a membership expired notice - some get mailed/faxed, so need to be printed, while some should be emailed. I've read that sendobject doesn't do so well. - is there a way to merge into Word (or Outlook) and automatically email these notices?

Thanks very much!!

     DoCmd.OpenQuery "Dues Are Expired"

    ' Execute the mail merge.

     objWord.MailMerge.Destination = wdSendToNewDocument

     objWord.MailMerge.Execute

'The following line must follow the Execute statement because the

'PrintBackground property is available only when a document window is

'active. Without this line of code, the function will end before Word

'can print the merged document.

     objWord.Application.Options.PrintBackground = False

     objWord.Application.ActiveDocument.PrintOut

End Function

Why Does VB Try To Install Outlook 2000?

Get Outlook 2000 PST Path(s)
Hi,

I am trying to write a little backup application in VB6 for some users in our company.

Basically the users have laptops which they take off site, but they wish to backup the outlook 2000 pst files to a location on the server when they are in the office. The problem I have got is that I need to locate the "outlook.pst & archive.pst" file on their computer and then I will be able to copy the file.

I assume that this information must be stored in the system registry, but where and how do I get that information.

A quick example of the best to get the info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Using Access From Outlook 2000
I would like to get a good example of how to "run queries" on an Access Database from Outlook 2000 and place results into an Oulook E-Mail message.

I have a good amount of programming experience and have recent experience "crawling" through the CDO and MAPI aspects of Outlook E-Mail (and properties), Folders and Contacts but I could use a good exemple(s) of how to run and Access Query from Outlook and then use the results.

Any examples or assistance would be great and would shorten the development time.

Outlook 2000 && Excel
Hi There,

Could anyone guide me on how to export an e-mail's (title & date & from) which is earlier then today's date to an excel sheet using outlook 2000. Many thanks and awaiting for your reply.

Outlook 2000 And Html
I got a web form that gets filled out, when the user hits submit, it gives them a nice pretty page to print (so far so good)

what it ALSO does is gets emailed to one of my clients, the layout for the email (in html) comes from a text file where I replace tags #$companyName$# for example with what was in the form....still ok...

now the problem is that when the user gets this, the email body scrolls WAY out the right side of the screen, and I dont know how to contain the thing inside the body of the email.

looks fine in office 2003 (which I used to test this) but in 2000 I cant stop this behavior.

its like putting a 5000px wide image in IE, and forces you to scroll way to the right to see it all.

the amount of data in the table isnt enough to push it that far over, so I dont know what the deal is. I have tried changing the table width to lesser values but it doesnt seem to matter.

If anyone has any ideas (or has ran into similar problems themselves) its much appreciated.

SendMessage To Outlook 2000
Hi peeps,

trying to get around the "feature" in Outlook that pops up a modal dialog when you try to send an e-mail using VBA. The plan is to shell a VB app directly before the .Send method - this VB app will look for the dialog, wait for the &Yes button to become enabled and simulate a click on the &Yes button.

No headaches finding the handle of the modal dialog or the handle of the &Yes button - trying to simulate a click event though is a different matter. I'm using SendMessage and have tried various flavours of constants. All seem to be doing stuff to the button but the modal dialog remains as if the button has not been clicked!!! Code posted below - any help greatly appreciated

Code:
Private Sub CheckForSecurityDialog()
Dim FormHwnd As Long
Dim ButtonHwnd As Long
Dim ButtonEnabled As Long

DoEvents

' Find the modal security dialog
FormHwnd = FindWindow("#32770", "Microsoft Outlook")

' If no dialog yet then exit
If (FormHwnd = 0) Then Exit Sub

' Find the child "&Yes" button on the dialog
ButtonHwnd = FindWindowEx(FormHwnd, 0, "Button", "&Yes")

' No "&Yes" button
If (ButtonHwnd = 0) Then Exit Sub

' Start Loop
Do
DoEvents

' Is the &Yes button enabled yet?
ButtonEnabled = IsWindowEnabled(ButtonHwnd)

' If enabled send left-mouse click to button
If ButtonEnabled <> 0 Then
SendMessage ButtonHwnd, WM_LBUTTONUP, 0, 0
SendMessage ButtonHwnd, WM_LBUTTONDOWN, 0, 0
End If
Loop Until ButtonEnabled <> 0 ' Loop until the &Yes button is enabled

End Sub
