Component Not Correctly Registered?
Ok, have a small app that is autorun from a CD that uses a few listviews & labels. CD works fine on the machine that I wrote the program on, as well as a few other desktops (all running WinXP Home & Pro). When I put it into a laptop (actually several) running WinXP Pro, I got

Component "COMCTL32.OCX" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: A file is missing or invalid.

Search the forums, and it sounds like I may need to register or re-register the ocx...? If so, how? Another if so--I have another small problem-This app is a one-time shot on machines, meaning that it is small, and run from the CD rather than being installed onto the machine-Can I still register (or whatever I have to do) without an installer being used? Don't really want to have an app that is "Desktop only" even though I have a distinct feeling that it isn't a laptop/desktop thing, just weird that it happened that way

On another note, is there a way to compare a dir on a HD to a dir on a CD (or anywhere for that matter), and if things aren't in the dir on the HD, copy what is missing?

MSWINSCK.OCX Is Not Correctly Registered
When i run my AOHell Server program a program that uses winsocks to have people connect to it and it is basically the server so people can chat using my program, i get a MSWINSCK.OCX error that its not correctly registered.. how can i fix it..

File Not Correctly Registered
I have put together an application that has the automatic form resizer ActiveResizeControl from vbGold on each form. It is paid for and unlocked.

I am using Inno SetUp 5 to compile the installer.

On installing on another machine (from the one that it was developed on), I get an error message when trying to start prog after install:

Error message:
"Component AResize.ocx or one of its dependences is not correctly registered: A file missing or invalid"

I am not a competent programmer so am not sure who the problem lies with

I have just created a programme that access two Access 2000 databases the programme uses ADO controls i works fine on my computer i need to put it onto another computer i burnt it onto a CD and installed onto another computer using a bat file when it goes to access the databases it comes up with this warning

I don't know what happened, but MSFLEXGRID control is not registered correctly. Every project I have with this control gives me this error message. I tried installing SP3 again, but that did nothing. I need help!

Error 339 - Comdlg32.ocx Is Not Correctly Registered: A File Is Missing Or Invalid
I now have had two XP users reporting errors related to comdlg32.ocx. It's driving me up the wall because I've been through over three pages of comdlg32.ocx problems here (some of them the exact problem I speak of) and I've been through over ten pages on Google, but the problem is I've found so much info on what can be done to work around this problem, but none whatsoever on what I can do with my InnoSetup script to avoid this problem altogether!

If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd appreciate it greatly.

I am away from my Home pc and I am getting the error,
"Error - Component MSWINSCK.OCX' not correctly registered: File is missing or invalid".

OLE Object Isn't Registered
I have inherited an Access application with VBA scripting and macros behind it.

I have a Document control on a Form which is linked to an Access table and to a column in the table with a datatype of OLEDocument. The OLEType for the Document control is set to "Embedded".

When I drag a JPEG onto the Document control I get the error message "OLE Object isn't registered".

This only happens on a Win98 platform. The default viewer for JPEG file types in Win Explorer is set to a Kodak Image Viewer.

The JPEG drag onto the Document control works under WinNT.

I don't really want to have to programatically create an instance of the image viewer and pass the JPEG to it.

Any ideas?

The OLE Server Isn't Registered
Hi,

I'm working with Access 2002 and programming in VBA. But I have got a little problem. I developed it in Access 97. I had some pictures stored (embedded) in my db and viewed them in a form. In Access 97 I could open them in e.g. Paint when I double clicked them, but when I do this in Access 2002 it just gives me an error 'The OLE server isn't registered. To register the OLE server, reinstall it.'.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Object Library Not Registered
I have in my computer at home in Microsoft Excel registered some DLL-files in the Registry Editor. Files I use at work also. It all works fine except for one thing.

When I am in the Visual Basic Editor and clicks "Tools" and then "References" it won't open the References - VBAProject Box. It is here you choose the references you need.

I get the message: "Object Library not registered. The Visual Basic for Application OBJECT LIBRARY is no longer a standalone file; it is integrated into the DYNAMIC-LINK LIBRARY (DLL)."

Who would be helpful and tell me, what file has been removed when I registered the DLL's from work. I really need to know.

I Get An Object Library Not Registered

I am having problems with my excel. For some reason, I cannot see my references in the tool menu in Excel (it is greyed out). However, I can see my references in the tool menu everywhere else (Access, Word, Powerpoint, and others).

I have tried registering msstdfmt.dll but hasn't worked so far. (I get sucessfully registered, but doesn't do it).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

ok - once again ive broke my computer doing the stupidist of things - i ran the vb update package for vb6 when i have vb 5 - somehow i imagined that the files id install would be the updated ocx and dll files that i need - i was wrong .

basically the problem i have is that when i run my project and error is displayed 'Object library not registered' whe i check the log that it creates it says:

ive tried reinstalling vb5 ontop of itself and removing it and reinstalling it and neither has corrected the error - i presume this is cause it find newer versions of the files and wont overrite them.

the only way i could think of definatly fiuxing it would be to buy VB6 - though im a bit skint at the minute so can any of u guys help?

I saved my project and whent to bed last night, then this morning tried to load it again to work on it. But after many errors, all saying how VB produced an error while loading the forms, VB crashed. I tried this many times, then looked at the logs it produced. Every error was on every ocurance of a status bar, progress bar, and tool bar in the entire project. So I made a new project and tried to add "Microsoft Windows Common Controls" To the project. The fallowing error ocured "Object Library not registered". What is this? This error renders my project useless and is nothing but abrupt. Thanks

Hi, ive been making some vb applications for some time, but now suddenly everything is going wrong. Half of my applications i cant load propery and I get a message saying "Object Library not registered". Others I can run but when i double click on a form to start working on it vb just crashes and I recieve the infamous, "Visual Basic has encoutered a problem and needs to close". This all happened suddenly. Everything worked fine but now i cant do anything. All of my programs have errors of some sort or another. I have reinstalled vb countless times, unistalled the whole thing and reinstalled again but still no effect. I can start new programs alright but I cannot use any of previous programs. When I try and run them I get 'could not load' errors and the like.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am stuck without this

Say I have a reference like "{00020905-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}" - is there any way of finding out if this is registered on a given machine? I don't know the class name or filename...

hello....

when i opened my program in another pc,
the vb application asked for the .ocx components -
mscomctl.ocx and mscomct2.ocx....

i registered those ocx components at start>>run>>
using this statement ----- regsvr32 <path of the ocx>

then, i tried adding the ocx in the components of the
vb application ... but an error occurs... it's

"object library not registered"

i don't understand why it still has this error
where in fact i've already registered the ocx components asked
by the application...

can anybody tell me what needs to be done?
i really need it badly... help will be greatly appreciated....

I recently had to re-format my computer, so I reloaded VB. I went to Projects/Components to load in some components that I backed up. However, when I tried loading in "d:windowssystem32mscomctl.ocx" it says "Object library not registered". What's going on?

I am having a great deat of problems trying to run my VB6 project on another computer. The project runs fine on my XP desktop computer but I am having problems on my win98 laptop.

When I go to references it has checked "MISSING: Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.0 Library". I uncheck it and recheck "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.0 Library" but it still doesn't want to work. The reference file is Msado20.tlb and seems to be in the correct location.

There is a "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.1 Library" option but this makes no difference.

Oh yeah, when I first open (load) the project I get this strange ok information message box that has the caption 'Data View' with message "Method '~' of object '~' failed".

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Hi all,

I installed VB in my other computer and moved my project there, but in the components, I tried to add MS Calendar and MS Datalist Controls but it won't let me.

It gives me the "Object Library Not Registered"

I then went to regsvr32 MSCal.OCX to register the calender, it gives me a registration success, but when I try to add the control in the component, it still gives me that same error.

Can any1 please help me with this error? I spent the whole day doing nothing becuz of this error....

I'd just reinstall my pc and VB5 but i encountered problem with components. When I go in Project/components menu and I check "MS Common Controls 5.0", VB returns "Object library not registered". when i use certain components, VB returns 'License informations for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this funtionnality in the design environment".
Of coursen my VB version license is OK and I do not understand what's happened.

Could Not Get License Infotmation Correctly Replication In Sql Server 7.0

when i use the replication function through the internet it always

Creating Object Of A Non Registered Class.

Please find below a descriptin of my probem:

My motive is to run an application as standalone, i.e. I do not want any writing into registry to happen.

1) I have an application, lets call it ABC.exe which registers itself as COM when installed fully and if its not installed ie. run as standalone, the CLSID and other details which has to go in registry, goes into a temporary file(created by me) under temp directory.

2) Now I have another application, lets call it XYZ.exe which makes use of ABC.exe.

3) If the abc.exe application is installed, I can easily create its object using CreateObject(<PROG-NAME>)
But since my ABC.exe application is in standalone, so there isn't any registry entry for CreateObject call to be successful.

So, kindly provide me any help on as to how to create object of an application if its not registered as COM.

Checking If An ActiveX Object EXISTS / Is Registered?

I'm trying to make a very very very simple .exe program that checks to see if some ActiveX Programs [.dll's, ocx's], etc exist on the target system (is registered).

"What the hell do I mean?", I hear u say... well let me explain with some pseduo-example.

My system uses a program called Microsoft XML 4, aspSmartUpload, ABMailer, and some other programs i've made.

Now, i do NOT want to *tick* those references under my CheckingProgram 'REFERENCES' big big list... Why not? becuase i do not know if they exist on the target machine.

The project has a dependancy (an ocx) which appears to compile and register fine.

When I look for the class ID (CLSID:{blah blah blah)in the registry it is not there, so that would suggest somethings not registered.

I have looked on the Microsoft knowledge base and found the link

It tells you to register MSBind.dll, not only have I done that but I have re-registered it dependencies as listed in the MSBind.DEP file in widnowssystem32..

Any ideas what is happening, perhaps Ill try registering the MSBinid and its related files in a particular order?

VB6 Error "Object Library Not Registered"
My Project - Weighing Balance interface Software developed in VB5 and working successfully in Win98 without problem. I need to make it workable under Win XP and VB6. When I opened the project, VB6 shows "Object Library not registered" error.

By analysing, I could find Microsoft Calendar 8.0 control and Microsoft MaskEdit Control is creating problem. I tried by unregistering and reregistering the controls and even reinstalling the VB6. To find out whether my project is corrupted, I opened a new standard exe and tried to enable the control (Microsoft Calendar 8 and Maskedit control) in the Components List. Still it shows the same error "Object Library not registered"

How can I Solve the problem?

This error occurs in a VBA/Excel XP(2002) app that was created in a VBA/Excel 2000 environment. What's the quickest way to register this library on the end users computer w/out their intervention. I'd like to do this programatically on an 'as need basis' rather than everytime they load the excel app. I want to also avoid batch files, etc if possible. I think the trouble-maker reference is "Visual Basic For Applications", because there are several more to choose from under references, however, if I choose more than one, I get any error (since all the names are the same).

This error doesn't occur on my box (w/ Visual Studio 6.0 loaded) but does on another box w/out VS 6.0

i'm using an application wrote in vb6 which getting the request from asp page, manipulate the request with the back office application and return the xml response.
i have to use HTMLEncode method in order to send the xml data which include hebrew characters.

462 - Object Cant Create Server
Hi All,

Attached is my current code.

If word is already running, then when the code below is used everything
works no problem and I can press my print button time after time and it
all works, i get no document instances lying around and no extra versions
of winword running that shouldn't be. However if word isn't already
loaded, then the code below runs fine first time in, then on a subsequent
attempt I get the above error. There are no instances of winword still
running. If I unload and reload my App, then I can print again and my
document count is still as expected.

Stepping the code, it errors when it's trying to create the table. However
I think this is a red herring since it works fine if word is already
loaded.

i've problems with an object reference given to an ActiveX Server (Visual Basic 6). I create an object outside the server (from a class which is defined in another component) and pass it through any method from client to the server. If i send back then the reference of the object in the server to the client in an event and then try to access the object again, the server crashes (in debug mode in the IDE and compiled). So the steps of passing the object reference to crash the server are:
client => server => server.event => client
This problem is always reproduceable.

VB6 Can't Find An Object That Exists On SQL Server
I was trying to be clever and added some bits of code to my project to help it handle two unfortunately all-too-common scenarios:

Scenario 1: Object (usually a stored procedure) that it is trying to execute does not exist

Scenario 2: User does not have permission to execute the object they are trying to execute

These scenarios pop up from time to time when an object creation script has been written incorrectly (by me) or has failed (my fault), or the DBAs forgot to run it and we released a new version of the app that tries to use the object in question.

With me so far?

To test this, I dropped a stored procedure on my SQL Server, then attempted to run the report that uses it. As I expected, my system told me that the object didn't exist and exited gracefully.

I then added the object back, but deliberately did not set permissions for it...and ran the project again, expecting the error to be handled differently.

It was not...the system again told me that the object didn't exist.

I set the permissions on the object in question so my app user had permission to run it, and ran the report again. No errors, no problem.

I am VERY confused. Here is the function that I wrote to tell me if the object exists or not, which is returning FALSE when the object exists but permissions are not set...strObjName is the name of the object I'm looking for:

I've tested the function in isolation and it doesn't work there either. It returns false even when permissions are set, which makes me think it's not simply this function that is the problem...but I want to work on it first since there's clearly something I'm missing!

Dear all,
I would like to access a business object server and query some data from the server without running the application from the client. (hidden interface).

COM+ - Object Server Is Stopping When OLE Service Contacts It
When the COM+ dll does not start automatically through a client activation (automation error on the client) I try to start it manually through the "component services" of the "control panel". But then I get the following error

=> "An error occured while processing the last operation. Error code 80080008 - Object server is stopping when OLE service contacts it."

=> visual basic 6.0 dll
=> windows 2000 server

When I restart windows it works fine again for +- 10 days. It's not always the same dll component that fails...

is there a solution for this problem??

I've got one more query for you. I know that I can get the creation datetime of a database object from "crdate" column of sysobjects table. Same way, is there anything in SQL-Server 2000 for fetching MODIFIED datetime of a database object?

WebBrowser Object And Server Security Dialog Box
Some sites cause IE to throw up a dialog box for a username and password before you begin surfing to their site. I have a browser which will supply the correct username and password to the site but I must first click cancel on the dialog box because it fires on BeforeNavigate2 event (I think). Is there a way to send a cancel = true, or something, to this server calling command so that the dialog box never shows up?

This is for our people to quickly get into websites to make sure that newly added content (like porn sites) is as it should be and not erroring on pages (like missing .jpgs or .giffs. or streaming video because of poor coding).

Forgot to mention I am pulling the correct username and password from the database but I need to kill this Security Dialog Box so I can send the username password immediately. This should probably be in general, but...[wimpering voice]...sorry.

Connecting To Sql Server From Ado Connection Object(urgent!!!!)
i am not able to connect to sql server database through ado connection object. i am using the connectionstring property to connect to the sql server.And in the initial catalog i am specifying the database name, which i have created on sql server and in the datasource property i am giving the odbc datasource name for connecting to the server.

i have also registered the sql server locally through the wizard.this is the code which i am using.

Inserting A New Row Into Sql Server 2000 From Vb6 Using Connect Object

I'm really not having a good time with "connect object"
I tried saving into a table using the ADO control(adodc.recordset.save)
But i found out it doesn't work all the time( i don't know why).
So i decided to connect to the table using connect object and then use an insert statement:
