Setup.lst Edit

I need to edit the Setup.lst file so my application installs on my clients PC in the C:/ directory (I do not want the application to show up in the Programs directory). Can anyone tell me the edits I need to make to the Setup.lst file to do this?

Microsoft Installer Vs. SetUp Package Deploy Wizard: How To Edit Forms In Installer.
I'm using Installer to put together an installation program for an application. I know in the Setup/Package/Deploy Wizard there was a SetUp.vbp that allowed you to actually change the look of the forms and all that but I cannot find a similar project in Microsoft Installation.

In Microsoft Installation I cannot alter the appearance of the form. (I need to left justify a logo) Where is the project that will allow me to make these changes to the forms the user sees while installing the application.

Like I said, I know where that is in SPD wiz but not for Microsoft Installer.

Free Package And Deployment Wizard To Inno Setup Script Converter - (Setup/Installer)
********** will take a PDW Setup.lst or a VB Project (.vbp) file and convert it to a simple Inno Setup Script that can be compiled straight away with Inno Setup, with no modifications (if you like) or modify it to include other parameters. It gets you out the gate fast.

Like Inno Setup this utility is totally free.

All who want a copy can download it from:

Setup.lst Paths For Files, Setup Wizard
I am trying to make my program able to load and run off winnt,2000 and xp if possible. It seems to be OK with 95 & 98. As far as I know NT,2000 AND XP use directories Winnt/system for the system files (i think). I have no machines to test my application setup.(problem)
All I need to know is will the setup wizard (visual basic 5) put the the files in the correct path for these 3 platforms.?
This is a copy of my setup.lst file.

About INNO SETUP Or SETUP In General
i'm building a setup with Inno SETUP, and i have some question about it.
I've build the setup with "deplioment and packahe wizard" in order to see the list of dependences.
I hope the things i need is the [bootstrap Files] and [SETUP1 FILES]

1) wich is the differences between these 2 category? and i need boot list of files, or not?

2) the list has a name of file as "@VB6STKIT.DLL": what is "@" for?

then i have 3 fields:
3) "$(WinSysPathSysFile)", is it destination folder? or source one?
4) "$(DLLSelfRegister)"/"$(TLBRegister)"/"$(DLLSelfRegister)"/"" what they are for? and then how do i use these information in Inno setup?
5) "$(Shared)"/"" same question of 4:what they are for? and then how do i use these information in Inno setup?

6) i have even some with exe or old extention ("@MDAC_TYP.EXE"/"@MSWORD9.OLB") do i have to include them? if yes i have to consider them as dll, ocx or tlb?

7) There some important inforamtion section [Bootstrap] ? (it doesn't seem to me)

If there are too many question i hope someone want to answer to some of them?

Thenks 4 you time!

Edit Add / Edit In Progress
I am having some trouble get the functionality of one of my buttons working properly.

When i click the ok button, i need it to search an Access DB to see if the record exists. If the record exists i want to pop up a message box asking if you want to edit the record or not. If the response is no then i want to have them re-enter the information into the text fields, but if they answer yes that they want to edit it, i want to populate the data from the access DB onto the screen.

I have that working, but my problem is that if they answer yes that they want to edit the information. I then populate the screen, but after they finish their editing, they click OK and get the same question asked.

I am redoing an old form that used data controls, the code that was used before to accomplish what i need goes like this:

VB Code:
Private Sub cmdOK_Click() ' Purpose: Calls validation routines and writes the record to the database. On Error GoTo cmdOK_ClickHandler If ValPrimaryFields() Then If datBatchHeader.EditMode = dbEditAdd Then AddRecord ElseIf datBatchHeader.EditMode = dbEditInProgress Then If ValSecondaryFields() Then WriteHeaderRecord End If End If End If Exit SubcmdOK_ClickHandler: HandleRunTimeErrorEnd Sub

I am using Select's instead of the data control.

Basically what i need is a way to ask if they want to edit once and if they answer yes, then the next time they hit OK, then should be proceeded to the next form and not asked the same question again

Thanks for the help in advance

Set myset = mydb.OpenRecordset("user", dbOpenDynaset)

End With
Call callList
End If
End Sub

Private Function callList() 'To update the user list after a new user is deleted
Set mydb = OpenDatabase(App.Path & "Book.mdb")
Set myset = mydb.OpenRecordset("user", dbOpenDynaset)
Do While Not myset.EOF
frmUserList.lstUser.AddItem myset.Fields("Name")
End Function

Edit P&D
I am using the included Package & Deployment Wizard to create a setup package for my application. I want to edit the installation only slightly. I want my app to launch as soon as it has been installed. Is there any way to do this?

I think I read that the P&D wizard actually creates another VB project that I could edit. If so, where is this project located, and also what command would I use to launch my program?

Hex Edit With VB
I need to add a bit of hex text to the beginning and end of a file that is created in a program i created! The program splits files into smaller files and disguises these files as jpgs. I need these jpgs to look real so i add the hex for a very small real jpg to the beginning and end of each of the split files so they look real. I can do this by hand but i want the program to do it. So i need to add the hex text to beginning and end and then removie it before the files are joined. Is there anyway to do this?

ADO Edit
Hi Everyone:

While editing a record and I received Run-time error –2147217842. I did an Advanced Search and I now know why my pgm is bombing.

I am updating the field in my table via a combo box. One problem is the combo box is comprised of two fields(too large for the data field). The next problem is I am using ADO and therefore I am not handling the moving of the data from the txtfield to the data field.

How do I let ADO know that I only want to use the first field in the combobox, or a workarea where I have placed the first field after stripping it off.

Can't Edit
On my code, i try to edit a field instead add new one, but i can't found the method that do that

            If strFile <> "." And strFile <> ".." Then
If (GetAttr(strFolder & strFile) And vbNormal) = vbNormal Then
.AddNew '<------------- i think this is my gallo
                    .Fields(vCBLogger).Value = strFile
                End If
            End If
            strFile = Dir

Can't Edit Mp3 Tag
I have a code that writes to an Mp3 file and changes the tags, artist, title, album, etc. The problem lies here:

    Dim FileNum As Integer
    FileNum = FreeFile
Open theFileName For Binary As FileNum

theFilename is a valid string, not shown above. It says path/file cannot be accessed. I am passing the right filename, it's a valid file. I messed around with it and it seems VB can only write to Text files, not Mp3. I also checked to see if the file (mp3) was in process, and it wasn't. I can't figure it out, it won't even open the file for output, it always says it can't be accessed.

Any ideas?
