How Can I Develop An Internet Dialer?
I am trying to modify my phonedialer(created in VB using MSComm control) to an internet dialer. I dont want to use the dialup networking tool provided in the Windows itself. I wants to log into the server using my dialer and start a browsing session and logout. How can I do it in VB.

I was wondering if anyone has a sample code i could use to Dial a number and establish if there is a Modem picking up at the other side or if it was somthing else?

I want to iterate through a controled list (Not Random, War Dialer style) and call each Number in turn and output the outcome.

i have looked thought the forum search but the refernce to TAPI comes without any explicit examples and some guy is trying to sell code Here

your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

if you have a working source this would be great as my Dev PC doesn't have a Modem to dial out and i need to run the app fully compiled on a seporate PC.

I don't normaly come begging for tested code but in this case i would be forever in your debt.

TAPI Dialer With Voice- Need Some BetaTest Here
Hi, I'm attaching the source code of a TAPI Dialer, that should make a voice-call through the Speakers and MIC. It seems to work ok here, but in another PC, the MIC does not get activated and the other side cannot hear you.

Try it and tell me your experiences, if you can. Also, if anybody does know TAPI very well, please help me to detect the bug. The code is so simple that I cannot figure what could give compatibility problems in distinct PC's.

Make sure you have a voice-modem.

right, this is just a simple quick ask. i want a program that will ring a number and then hang up about 2 seconds after it starts ringing... This is NOT for prank calling, it is to turn on call forwarding before hittin the net.

I am unable to find any programs that do this (standalone programs designed ONLY for this), any information on programming w/TAPI, or anything!

I searched the forums and nobody seems to know where to find information on this.

I am trying to make a vb applicaton to do the below:

Normal senario:

Phone--->Phone line--->Phone

What i want to do:

headset-->laptop-->phoneline--->Phone

Basically to dial from pc using vb and tapi and speak to the other person using head set.

I have laptop with xp pro installed and have standard version of visual studio.net with vb. net

Modem Issues! Mscomm V's TAPI
Hi,

i am new to "playing about with modems" but already i am having problems

1)i tried to use a mscomm controll to my modem (which is on com port 4) but every time i try to open the port it says the port is open, but if i try to close then open it it says it is already open.

2)What i am looking to do is detect rings and then answer the phone. I have been told this can be done with both mscomm and TAPI.
If anyone has any good introductions to TAPI then i would be very greatfull as i cant get TAPI to work atm. i have been googling for ages and cannot find a simple intro / samples.

Any advice on either problem greatly appreciated.

I found that almost there is no modem that says it is TAPI compatible in its specification. And there is few TAPI card on sale. How can I know which modem support TAPI? How to select TAPI card?

How To Dial, Using A Modem
How do I do this? I need to be able to dial a certain number, without getting any dialogue boxes (Windows internal ones). Plus, I need to know how to hang up. Does anyone have a good example of this.

im using TAPI version 2.1 and i wanna recieve record calls those are received on the line connected to my lucent v. 90 fax modem. the problem is
1. I cant open the line sometimes, im using lineOpen function.
2. if line is opened it is focefully closed, that is, LINE_CLOSE event occurs right after that.

the call to line open function is like this:

I'm trying to call up a modem and then dial a specific time depending on the time. The time bit is easy, however I have no idea which functions I should call in order to connect to the modem. It's a simple program that will connect to the modem via a Command Button.

ATD To Get Modem To Dial??? SIMPLE ?
Using MSComm control, I have initilized the modem, openend port and recieved OK response from modem. I wait 4 minutes, then send "ATDT ###-####" (# represent any phone number) and it dials fine. Then it wait 25 seconds and I want it to dial 411.

Would the ATD command be the one to use???

MSComm1.output = "ATD 411" ???

Dialing Up With Dial Up Modem
Is there a way to dial up with a dial up modem? Can I preset the username and password so I don't got to enter them. I don't want to get the standard Windows screen for entering the username and password. It just got to run (background) when my computer starts and connect me to the internet.

Dial Modem, Then Talk Via Microphone
I am developing some software for a company who make kiosks. I'm not sure but I'm guessing the kiosks are kinda like the ones you would find in a bank which you stand at and view your account online for example. In any case, they house a standard PC.

The company wants the clients who buy these kiosks to be able to call the company for help, by simply clicking a button which dials a phone number on the internal modem.

I can dial numbers on the modem fine, and the phone number which is dialed does ring. The company now says they want to be able to chat to the clients once connected. Apparently the modem (standard dial up, possibly US Robotics) has a microphone port on it.

Basically I'm just wondering how easy this is to implement? Like I say, I've done the whole dialing and connecting part. Now I need to implement verbal communication somehow.

If anyone has any tips, or code, or links... it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, my name is bojan, and i would like to ask someone here a question. I Created my own phone book program and naturaly i plased a option to dial stored numbers. When i had win 98 my code worked just fine ( i have used Mscomm32.ocx control), but now my code just wont work, old exe file i had from Win98 still dials a number but i have created a newer version of program and when i want to dial it just wont dial, i hear tu tu, tu tu, tu tu.... but i dont hear dialtones. It opens the port but nothing, i have downloaded couple of codes from here. But no use none of them work, same thing. No dialing tones... Can someone please help me. Thanks in advance.

Using The Modem To Dial A Phone Number
Hello. I need to know how to access the modem through a program I write. What I need to do is make an object which will call a phone number through the modem in the computer... This would be all fine and dandy except for one thing... I don't have any idea about how to do it! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and if someone out there has an object that does that... well... I wouldn't mind getting in touch with you!
Another thing: The idea is that the object can call a beeper or even send a SMS message to a GSM phone... now the SMS idea is stretcing it I know... I doubt that there is any "universal way" of sending a SMS message from a computer. At least you can't just call the phone. So... if anyone out there knows anything about this... his/her help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm gonna use Java for the project but this could also be written in any other language. Maybe a COM object would suit best???

Is it possible for a modem to listen to dial tone and tell you if it's a steady dial tone or intermittant? it's related to an earlier post of mine regarding the 1571 messaging system from BT in the UK. It seems that devices that are used to detect if there are messages waiting for you do so by grabbing the line, if there is messages for you then a light is turned on

I develop VB5 applications for my company. I currently use NT workstation 4.0 and develop for NT workstations and win 95 machines.

I have now recieved a new laptop for my development work that has come with win 2000 pro on it. I need advise what OS I should work with. Can I make my projects on the w2k platform for nt4 and win 95 machines or will this cause problems ? should I have the 20 gig HD split into 3 partitions , one for win 95 , one for w2k and one for nt4 or is this just asking for trouble. Or would I be better having a win 95 and nt booting system. I need advise, please feel free to offer coments. I would like to keep w2k pro but at the moment only have apps on nt4 and win 95.
