Textbox Limit Size !!??

hi ..i have a small question..i got a small programm to download a source code of a page and display it on a textbox in the same programm ...
first i thought that the inet1 is not downloading the whole code,but i did save the code to the harddisk and made the programm read from that file ...and it is the same ...that means the textbox can only hold a limit of size..(i have the text size option set to 0,so that´s not the problem) ..

the .html iam trying to read to the box is about 90kb ,and in the text only about 3/4 of the code is appearing on it ..
so is there a way to make the whole text appears in the text box !?!?!
hope u can help ...
thanks a lot .

Limit Length Of Text1.text Based On Size Of TextBox?
It's been a while since I've posted in these forums, though I'm still at work on Faux-INN, my VB online games network. If you'de like you can check it out at my website.

One of the most important aspects of Faux-INN is the way the interfaces are handled - for example, the bulletin boards look like real bulletin boards. Every player can build a custom 'avatar' that looks like they do, and when you're playing an opponent in Chess, you can actually *see* who you're playing with.

I've already added e-mail (which you can view by clicking on a 'post office'), but I want to make the input not look like a regular text box, but actually look like a page of a real letter; so you can only fit so much text on a given page.

I can subclass the textbox so it looks like a 'real' page; that's not the problem. My question is... if I have a textbox of a set size, can I put limits on the amount of text you can enter into the textbox, so that you can only enter as much text as could 'fit' in the box, without scrolling?

Thanks much!

Ini Size Limit
Is there a limit to the size of an ini file. For example could the ini file end up taking like 50 gb (I know it is unrealistic) of memory and not cause any problems with reading and writing to it?

String Size Limit?
I'm using an Inet control to get a document into a string;

strDocument = Inet1.OpenURL("http://www.megagames.com/")

But only the first 2,762 characters of the document are saved in the string... there should be around 47,800 in that document!

Why isn't the whole document being stored in the string?

Any help is really appreciated! Thanks alot!

Is There A Size Limit On The RichTextBox?
Hi,
I have a 3.5Meg text file and when I load it into the richtextbox:

Code:
Form1.RichTextBox1.LoadFile App.Path & "History.txt"
I noticed two obvious problems:
1) only the vertical scrollbars is visible despite I change the properties on the Scrollbars to 3 - rtfBoth
2) The entire file content did not display in the richtextbox1.

The History.txt file got lines that are greater than 255 characters in length. Below is an example of the History file:

Code:
Switch01.cfg 3/1 0921040 0921040 0921040 0921040 0922040 0922040 0922040 0922040 0923040 0923040 0923040 0923040

I want to be able to pull the History.txt file content to the richtextbox1 with vertical & horizontal scrollbars much like the box above. Please let me know how I can achieve that within VB.

Project Size Limit???
I am working on a rather large project and ran into a problem. I made a bunch (about 90K) of embedded for-next loops( i know not recomended)setting a string variable after each one . This was done by writing a small for-next and having it write the new code into a text file. now when I try to copy this into an empty module I get "OUT OF MEMORY". I cut it down to 10K and it worked. thinking it was a per module limit I tryed doing a second module with the next 10K and got the out of memory error again.
I am using Option Explicit in every module.

VB6, w2ksp4, 512MB ram

any help on this would be appretiated.

Size Limit For Input??
I have the following Code. The problem with it is, when I try to open a 55MB text file, it chokes on the first Line Input Statement.
If I reduce the amount of information in the file down to 27 MB, it works fine. Is there a size limit for opening files??
I have other 20 some meg files that work fine. I've switched to using the filesystem object, but it seems noticably slower.
my question is, is the a limitation to using the code below?
secondly is there another way to input stuff from a text file that's faster than the filesystem object.

Thanks.

VB Code:
dim ff as integer ff = freefileopen myfile for input as #ff 'This is the Line that the program chokes on.  By chokes I mean program freezes on this line and doesn't go further.Line Input #ff, tmpln While Not EOF(ff)  If Left(tmpln, 1) = ">" Then     If count > UBound(FileInfo) Then ReDim Preserve FileInfo(UBound(FileInfo) + 20000)     FileInfo(count).IDLine = tmpln     Line Input #ff, tmpln     While Left(tmpln, 1) <> ">" And Not EOF(ff)        seq = seq + tmpln        Line Input #ff, tmpln     Wend     FileInfo(count).Sequence = seq     seq = ""     count = count + 1  End IfWendReDim Preserve FileInfo(count - 1)Close (ff)

Record Size Limit?
Is there a limit to the size that a record can be (number of fields) if you are using a table that was created in Access 2000, then converted to old style Access?

While trying to update my record I'm getting a "Record too large" error.

Is there an easy way around this?

I have a feeling that the max is 99 fields per record and anything over that Access cannot handle. Does anyone else have information to back that up?

Limit The Size Of A Window
Does anyone know how I can have a minimum size when resizing a window in VB. I can do it in the resize event but the window flickers as it is resized. I've seen some applications that manage to implement this without fickering. Any ideas.

I'm sure I've seen some example code on the net in the past but I can't find it again!

Limit On Size Of Picturebox?
Hi folks,
I've been working on an application which needs to
display over 10 trend lines on different axes
simultaneously in the same page. I've tried to arrange
them to appear in a vertical manner. Because of the
amount of space needed, so I design a scrollable form
using 2 pictureboxes, picOut and picIn and add both a
horizontal and a vertical scrollbar to allow users to
see those trend lines. At design time, I've set the
scaleheight of picIn to something like 247500 twips.
Yet at runtime, this scaleheight is always reduced to
something like 16440 twips, thus making it impossible
to display those trend lines towards the bottom of the
picIn on scrolling. So it appears that VB has a limit
on the scaleheight of a picturebox. Is this true? Can
anyone give some help in here? Any way to allow the
scrolling of picIn all the way to the bottom possible?
Thanks in advance.

Text Box Size Limit Problems
I am outputting data to a text box for live view of incoming informaton. I am also logging the information to a text file so the user can print out the data when all the logging is finished. The problem is the text box stops writing information after about 500 lines. The log file which is a text file will log all the information which is approximately 2000 lines. Does anyone know how to make the text box allow for more lines or any other way to display 2000 lines of information with a scroll bar? Thanks for your time

Winsock Help. Limit Data DL Size.
Im currently making a POP3 client using winsock. When I RETR (Retrieve) a message that has an attachment, it seems to fragment the data and send it in multiple parts. Im not sure what the cut off point is, but if I really need to...I cant specify it using the MaxLen parameter. Anyway, I was wondering how to download say the first 20 parts or like the first 100kb. Is there any way of doing that without entirely closing the connection to the sever once the limit has been reached? Thanks in advance

ListBox Size Limit - Any Way To Increase It?
Hi,

I have about 43000 items I need to display in a listbox. I add all the items to the listbox by using a loop like so...

VB Code:
arraypos = 0Do While (arraypos < 43000)List1.AddItem("File " & arraypos)arraypos = arraypos + 1Loop

When the arraypos number reaches 32736, VB returns the following error message "Invalid procedure call or argument" - which is runtime error 5

The error highlights the line which adds the text to the list

The program works perfectly fine when I limit the number of times it does the loop to a number less than 32736
ie. Do While (arraypos < 32736)

I presume that there is a limit on the number of items allowed in a listbox. Is there any way I can increase the limit on the listbox to a higher number?

Thanks guys.

Input Box - Limit Size Of String?
I've got an input box for users to enter comments to be added to a label. Problem is, if the user enters a really long comment, when the label is printed, the comment doesn't wrap, it just prints straight off the page into nowhere land.

Is there a completely obvious work around to this? The textbox is multiline true, but I guess that's only for the display not printing.

Enlighten me!

Thanks In Advance.

(this was supposed to be comments like "ship to dock c" - but some feel it necessary to write a book - grrrr) But, it's just good programming to know what the hell you're doing I suppose.

EDIT - I know you can set the string size, just worried about the printing mainly.

Image And Picture Box Size Limit
Hello,
I was just wondering if there's a way to get rid of the maximum size limit of a picture box. For example i have about 20 or more pictures to be loaded into a picture box, but only 11 are being loaded, and i was told that there is a limit, my question is how can i get rid of that limit. Or maybe use another method of loading the pictures, anything except using an array for the images, because i tried that but doesn't work as well as i want it to. Also is there a limit fo an image box?

Thanks.

There are currently 171666 record in the database.

What could be causing this error? Could it be the number of records?

How Do I Take Away The Size Limit On A Limited Sized String?
Hi Guys,

In my program I am using API to find out the name of the workstation...

Code:

Private Declare Function GetComputerName Lib "kernel32" Alias "GetComputerNameA" (ByVal lpBuffer As String, nSize As Long) As Long

Dim Workstation As String

Workstation = String(50, " ")
GetComputerName Workstation, 50 'gets the comp. name

However, because I am using the String() function on 'Workstation ', it limits the string to 50 characters.... and when I use the 'Workstation' string in the same context as other strings, it seems to limit them too.

EG when I use run the following command:

Code:

msgbox Workstation & "Hello, this is an example string that wont even appear!!!! :-("

The program simply produces a message box that says the computer name, but not the 'Hello' string that I put on the end.

How do I get around this, and remove the 'limit'.

Thanks!

(come on Doug, I know you can solve this for me!)

Access Size Limit + Query Two Databases
What are the ways to manage an Access database (DB1.MDB) which is growing and which will reach 2 GB soon? The database is packed.

If I start adding new records in a new database (DB2.MDB) having same table name and structure, Is it possible to create an SQL query which will query two databases and give a single recordset? Resultant recordset will not exceed 50,000 records, but the question is how to query two different databases.

I am using visual basic with Access database. Thanks for your suggestions.

Simple: How To Limit Text Field Size

Exceed Module Size Limit In Visual Basic
I am using visual basic 6.0 academic version. I have a program written in visual basic which requires a C+ file (not sure what version) which contains type and functions in C+. Unfortunately, this file called another file (include filename), which called another file, which called another file... so I keep adding the code as visual basic code but now it nolonger fits into the module and its calling for MORE, MORE, MORE files.

Now that module will no longer compile nor allow any other code to be entered. This code is very interrelated so it would be difficult to break it up into different modules.

Is their a way to call the C+ code into the main visual basic module similar to the import lib function in visual basic?

a = Replace(a, "||", "|", 1, -1)
l = Replace(a, "||", "|", 1, -1)
strArray(UBound(strArray)) = l
Call ReportStatus(strArray(i), 3)
ReDim Preserve strArray(UBound(strArray) + 1)
ProgressBar1.Value = 1
ProgressBar2.Value = i
i = i + 1
Loop
Close #1
ProgressBar2.Value = 0
ProgressBar1.Value = 0
StatusLabel.Caption = "None"
End Sub

Here's the ReportStatus() sub that pipes the program output to Progressbox.Text (a multiline textbox control):

Code:
Private Sub ReportStatus(ByVal strValueIn, ByVal ACTION)
Dim strAction As String
Dim strTag As String

If strValueIn = strOldValueIn Then
strTag = " (" & intRepeat & ")"
intRepeat = intRepeat + 1
Else
intRepeat = 2
End If

If ACTION = 1 Then
strAction = "Destination manually set to: " & strValueIn & strTag
StatusLabel.Caption = strAction
ProgressBox.Text = ProgressBox.Text & strAction & vbCrLf
ElseIf ACTION = 2 Then
strAction = strValueIn & strTag
StatusLabel.Caption = strAction
ProgressBox.Text = ProgressBox.Text & strAction & vbCrLf
ElseIf ACTION = 3 Then
strAction = strValueIn & strTag
ProgressBox.Text = ProgressBox.Text & strAction & vbCrLf
Else
strAction = strValueIn & strTag
StatusLabel.Caption = strAction
ProgressBox.Text = ProgressBox.Text & strAction & vbCrLf
End If
strOldValueIn = strValueIn
ProgressBox.SelStart = Len(ProgressBox)
End Sub

Why does ProgressBox.Text decide to start refusing appending any further progress dialogs midway through the routine? It has 10,000+ messages it will need to display. Preferably I'd like to avoid any size limits.

Also, once this process completes, after another subroutine fires off that wants to append additional progress text, it results in an invalid property error with an option to debug. The line that is highlighted is:

[vbcode]ProgressBox.SelStart = Len(ProgressBox)[/vbcode]

Thoughts? Thanks

Textbox Limit
Hi all,
I've worked out that the limit of a textbox is 64Kb. What can I do if
the I want to work with text which is, say four or five times as much?
Can I extend the limit (maxlength??) of the text box or do I have to
change the textbox for some other component? And yes, I'm very very
new to VB ;)

Thank you.
