Application Failed To Initialize Properly (0xc0000022)
Hi all,

I'm constantly getting this error when launching my VB6 application on a client PC, when logged in as a restricted user. The application launches without error when logged onto the same PC as an Admin user.

I have read other posts in the forum about this error. I have given Read & Execute right to the restricted user on the following folders:

C:WINDOWS
C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32
C:PROGRAM FILESCOMMON FILES

But still getting the same error. Can another advise?

Mel.

Application Failed To Initialize?
When I try to run my VB Program on other computer, it comes up with a message saying "Application Failed to Initialize". I feel like I forgot to do something in Visual Studio, but what? I used some free installer also, but it still didn't work.

Application Failed To Initialise Properly
Hi,

I've made a few simple VB programs, that I've installed on a Win2000 system.
The installation is done with the administrator account.

When I login with a user account, the program doesn't start.
The error :

Quote:

The application failed to initialise properly’ ‘click on OK to terminate the application’

occurs.

When I login with the administrator account, the program runs without an error.

Does anyone know what could cause this problem?

Thanks,

Fedor

PS If you don't work, you don't make errors. My program doesn't work, why do I have to look for the error?

Failed To Initialize

thanks a load for the help though.

VBAJET32.dll Failed To Initialize?!?!
I developed an application that accessed MDB database, and on the machine where I tried to run it I got this anoing message about vbajet32.dll.

Computer, where I tried to install the application is not the newest one (486 - 50MHz, 8 Mb). Is there a problem or is it something else?

Thnx, Ermin

VBAJet32.DLL Failed To Initialize
I've written an app in VB5 using DAO 3.5 and DAO 3.6.
I'm attempting to install it on a Windows 98 laptop.
The app setup is built using VB5 Application Wizard.
No problems are reported in the ST5UNST.LOG file when the app is installed.
When I try to run the app I get a message similar to the one below:
 "3447 JETVBA file (VBAJET.DLL for 16 bit versions or VBAJET32.DLL for 32 bit versions) failed to initialze"
Using suggestions from MSDN #196057 I created a new Setup.Lst file including the EXPSRV.DLL and added these two files to my setup CD. (of course the existing Setup.Lst file was replaced with this new one, and the EXPSRV.DLL was simply added)
When installing from this new CD the ST5UNST.LOG stated that the EXPSRV.DLL was copied onto the Win98 computer, however mentioned that the EXPSRV.DLL failed to register. The EXPSRV.DLL file did NOT exist on the Win98 computer prior to doing this latest install of my app.

I have downloaded the MDAC Componet checker and ran it on the Win98 computer, using the "guess" option. It came back and claimed: "The MDAC version that is closest to the version on your computer is 2.5 RTM (2.50.4403.12) "

Based on my reading, I am suspecting that another piece of software on my Win98 computer has done an incomplete update of certain MDAC components. Apparently this practice by developers was restricted by Microsoft as of Windows 2000. My questions are...

1) Tell me what you know of this problem. What would you suggest?

2) Would an update to Windows 98 restore the MDAC to compatibilty?

3) Should I download the MDAC version 2.52 update and apply this ALONE to my Win 98 computer?

Jet VBA Failed To Initialize: Compatibility Problem Of Win98 And VB5
Hello,

There is numeric discussion about this error in this sites. I also encounter this error and I use VB5.

The pgm is OK in test PC but fails in other's machine.

I go to this site http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q192/9/34.asp

So, I clean up the harddisk and install Win98 and VB5 from scatch. However, the error stills exists. I inspect the version of all dependent files for VBAJET32.DLL and am shocked to find that the version of some dependent is for version 6!!! (But I am using VB5. The dependency file does not include expsrv.dll

Is it a known compatibility problem of Win98 and VB5?

Unable To Initialize Application Error Message
I get this error message everytime I try and run my applications:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022)"

The error surfaced after we added an application to keep track of time on the workstation. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Application Not Shut Down Properly
I use a remote database to run my user based program. When a user logs in it sets there online status to Online and when they exit my program it sets the Online status in the database to Offline. I do this to prevent people from logging into the same account on more than one computer at the same time. The problem is, if the program errors or is incorrectly shutdown my form_unload event is not triggered and cannot set the users status to Offline which means that it is STUCK on Online so they can't log in at all! I've thought of using the registry to store the offline/online but registry values are editable which could lead to cheating. Is there any way of telling whether or not a program was not shutdown properly without using the registry or something that the user could edit? Or does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks for your time.

Application Not Closing Properly
There's something weird happening on an application I made for a client.

Each time he close the application, it still running in the task manager.

In the IDE, it's closing properly.

I know that when an application is not closing, it means something still running in the application. I used debug.print just because the unload to see what's running.

I'm using the com port, which is closed, a timer, it's disabled and a DB connection which is closed too.

I tried to use the "End" command to completely close the app on the unload. On the IDE, it still working, but on the .exe, I get a Windows error message saying the application encountered errors and had to be closed by Windows.

How can I see why the application is not closing properly ??

VB Application Not Terminated Properly
Hi all,
I am using VB 6 and often the run button in my application is still disabled (ie. the application is still running) though I have closed all my forms or I am unable to find my MDI Form in the task bar. In short, I can find only my project in the task bar but not the application. I have to close the application manually. How to find why the application is still running even after closing all the forms or how to forcibly close the application ??

Having Problems Closing Application Properly
Whenever i right click on my application in the taskbar and select close it remains visible in task manager for some reason. If I close the application using the close button on the form (which is using an irregular form), the application terminates appropriately. I'm not sure if I accidently changed something or what, but I cant seem to figure out why its not closing properly. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

New PC's At Work: VBA Application With DTPicker No Longer Works Properly. Help!?
Hello All,
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    I have created an itinerary planning application written in VBA that interacts with an Excel Workbook and an Access database. A couple of my userforms contain the Date Time Picker control from Microsoft Windows Common Controls-2. The computer that I created the application on has VB6 Pro installed on it. This application used to run fine on the intranet on the computers at work...until they bought new computers and suddenly it doesn't work properly anymore. When the file loads now on the work computers I get an error that reads "Some objects could not be loaded" or something similar (I can't remember the exact verbage since I'm not at work right now). I checked with the System Administrator at work and he said that all of the very latest Service Packs, Updates, and patches had been installed onto the computers at work. When I checked the References menu under the VB editor, the Microsoft Windows Common Controls-2 line read "MISSING". Also, somehow the Date Time Picker controls and their associated procedures were stripped away (they no longer appeared on the userforms and all of the code for them had disappeared). So...I reconstructed what had been taken away and I downloaded the .CAB file from the Microsoft site for Windows Common Controls-2 and copied the .OCX and .INF files into the System folders. This got rid of the "MISSING" tag but I still get the same error when the program loads. The research I have done so far would lead me to believe that the root problem here is some sort of registration or licensing issue with the Date Time Picker control but I'm definitely in over my head at this point. I have put more than two years of work into this project (I'm not getting paid or anything for it and I'm not a professional programmer) and would truly appreciate anyone with any sort of advice or help as to what needs to be done here to solve this problem. Thanks again!

I’m having the problem below and so far my search on Google and MSDN hasn’t yielded much fruit in the way of an explanation or process of elimination for the problem. I’m hoping you may have come across this one before, and might be able to shed some light.

I updated a COM+ component with some relatively simply business logic changes and rolled it out on our of our dev boxes via the Component Services MMC Snap-In for W2K Server. This component is called by an ASP, and we are now getting the following error on the first call to the object following the Server.CreateObject(…) instruction:

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Error Type:

COM+ Activation failed because an initialization function failed. Check the event log for more information.

Line 80 has this instruction:

mobjUser.ConnectionString = CONNECTION_STRING

However, the changes made were NOT related to the classes being used in this call. Furthermore, I’ve since rolled back to the original DLL (which worked perfectly) and the problem persists. The NT 5.0 event log has the following to say:

The IObjectControl::Activate() method failed. The CLSID of the object is:

If someone can point me in the right direction, I WILL send a bottle of wine to an address of your choosing! Hope someone can give me a heads up on this one...

When You Should Initialize...
in vb6, when do you think it is best to initialize the values of objects such as size, fonts, colors, etc etc of forms, buttons, frames and etc? should it be initialize in the properties menu or using coding to initialize it? or during the run-time? can anyone tell me what's the difference anyway and which one is better?

How To Run Initialize Again?
How can i force a especific form to run initiazile again evertime i use the "form.show", or maybe the trick relies on the way i close the form?

I think it's because of the "form.hide" am using, it justs hides it but it remains resident in memory so the initialize will not run... well that's my theory?

tks 4 ur attention and possibel help!

Cannot Initialize OLE
Hi

Our appln is in VB and uses Crystal Reports 7 and database is MS ACESS. Everything was working fine in our organization. Now when our clients tries to pull any report, it throws "Cannot Initialize OLE".After clicking OK its again throwing "Error 20534 - Error detected by database dll" error message.
But it works fine for us here.

Any idea how to rectify it...

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Why Do You Initialize ?
I don't understand why you are supposed to initialize things like controls and such with coding, other than to maybe help forms load faster? I don't know?

I am reading Sam's... 24 hours on page 187, and, for example:

Private Sub Form_Load()
' Initialize the label's text
Dim strLabel1 As String
Dim strLabel2 As String
Dim strLabel3 As String
Dim strLabel4 As String

strLabel1 = "Use frames if you want "
strLabel2 = "to group options together. "
strLabel3 = "Each frame forms one set "
strLabel4 = "of option buttons."

lblFrames.Caption = strLabel1 & strLabel2 & strLabel3 & strLabel4

...
...
...

The rest of the code isnt needed for my question, and the code simply demostrates the option box controls to change various font properties in a large label box.

I must have missed something, because I understand initializing variables before use, but why go through all that code to change font in a label?

How Do I Initialize An Array
Very simple question but I I can't seem to find the answer.

Public WorkOrder(20) As String

How would initialize the array?

Initialize Directdraw
in http://www.kuhnstall.de/tutorials/dx9sharp1.html
i saw a good C# tutorial. it explains everything THOROUGHLY

i tried converters and everything to make it work in VB but it didnt work

can some1 tell me how to do the same in VB(using the same way they did it on the site)

i see different ways like:

"
objBackBufferSurface.BltFast(this.XPosition,
this.YPosition,
m_objBitmapSurface,
ref m_objSizeRECT,
CONST_DDBLTFASTFLAGS.DDBLTFAST_SRCCOLORKEY | CONST_DDBLTFASTFLAGS.DDBLTFAST_WAIT ); "

that gets too complicated!!!

the way they teach you on the site is easy and it makes sense. DirectX 9.0a doesnt have the wizards for Visual Studio.NET to do it, so i need some1 to help me initialize directDraw in DirectX9.0a in VB.NET

i saw other ways to do it on VB but not VB.NET

How To Initialize Connection
I have to distribute data from one server to another using telephone line. I do not use methods of replication embeded into MS SQL Server 2000 but instead of this I wrote my own T-SQL stored procedure which transfers data from server to server.
As I run this procedure from VB code "only" I haveto do before is to establish phone connection between servers. I ask, how to initialize connection, or how to dial number from VB code if I use serial modem (or modem attached to one of seriasl ports) or if I use ISDN modem.
I think I can dial remote number using MSCOMM control but I do not know how to realise that connection is established or not and if I should run transaction or not.

Form Does Not Initialize
Okay, my form (with textboxes) is filled with data from the active document. The following shows what problem I am having:
1. User runs macro which opens a document called "2001.xls" then executes dataForm.Show
1. User hits Done_Click which executes Unload Me
2. User closes active document (basic close) but doesn't close Excel.
3. User runs macro which opens another document called "2002.xls" then executes dataForm.Show
Problem
3. Form contains data from the previous document called 2001.xls.

This happens when I use Unload Me or just dataForm.Hide
The problem, I believe, is that the second time the macro is run and dataForm.Show is executed, the form does not initialize (UserForm_Initialize).

Any thoughts?
Aaron

Using END In The Initialize Event
I know that using End in VB coding is a bad idea but what about in the Form_Initialize event?

Code:
Private Sub Form_Initilize()

'Check for App already running.
If App.PrevInstance then
Set Me = Nothing
End
End If

'Check for valid Registry data.
Dim ReadReg As New cRegAccess
With ReadReg
if .Name = "" Then
'No valid data exhists.
Set ReadReg = Nothing
Set Me = Nothing
End
Else
Me.Caption = .Name
Set ReadReg = Nothing
End If

End Sub

I've read somewhere that either the load or the initialize event handlers should be used but not both (same for unload and terminate). What is then the purpose of having 2 similar events? What are the differences between either event if any?

Re-initialize A Listview
How do I completely clear a listview, i.e., not just clear the data (listview1.listitems.clear) but also how do you clear the headers?

Listview Won't Initialize
I'm using this code to initialize a listview:

Code:
Private Sub InitListView2()
Dim lvw As Single

lvw = ListView2.Width
ListView2.ListItems.Clear

With ListView2.ColumnHeaders

.Clear
.Add , "Name", "Name", lvw * 0.48
.Item("Name").Tag = LVTypeString
.Add , "Address", "Address", lvw * 0.48
.Item("Address").Tag = LVTypeString

End With

End Sub

and for some reason it isn't working: does nothing.

The LV control is inside a (parent) frame control.

Initialize An Array
Is there a way to initialize an array when you redim it?

VB Code:

Initialize Vs. Load
When and why would you use the Form_Initialize event rather than the Form_Load event?

Form Initialize
I load and unload a form. The first time the form gets initialized but after that it doesn't. I have code in the form_initialized
event that needs to run each time the form is run. Unloading the form doesn't seem to be enough. What am I missing? Can anyone tell me what I should be using instead of Unload? Thanks

I have Direct-X 9 on both my Windows 98 and XP partitions, and I've got two DX8 sprite engines that I'm looking at to see how to upgrade my project from DX7 DirectDraw to DX8. Under XP though, I always get an "automation error" when Direct-X is initialized. Same code, same hardware, but it doesn't work under XP. Any idea what could be wrong?

I don't really want to use DX8 even, but I need the ability to rotate my sprites, which DX7 can't do apparently.

I'd like to download some files from an FTP server by VBS (script), however I don't know how to initialize the FTP ActiveX object.

Thanks in advance

Initialize The Array
Hi all,

If you I have UDT like C++;
struct XcvrSAPInfo
{
BYTE bitmap[8]; // 8 bytes
BYTE sapIDs[64]; // 64 bytes
UCHAR xcvrSAPId; // 1 byte
UCHAR xcvrSAPAddr; // 1 byte
};

In c++ we can initialize viariable as following
XcvrSAPInfo xsi = {
{0x01,0x02,0x03,0x04,0x05,0x06,0x07,0x08}
{0x01,............},
0xff,
0xff
}

My question is:
(1) how to do the same thing in VB?
(2) Please tell me how to assign Hex constant in VB?

Thanks
