Is it possible to program a mouseover event in vb6.
I am sequentially running through a large database, and have set the MousePointer to vbHourGlass. I am also providing a status form with a Cancel button on it.
What I want to achieve that as the mouse passes over this cancel button, I want to change the pointer back to the normal arrow, and as the mouse moves off of the button change back to the hour glass, whilst the process is running.
I have searched everywhere for this and can find absolutely nothing.
Any pointers appreciated - even if it cant be done

How do I get that mouse over effect where it displays a little yellow box with black letters? Ex: Hold your mouse over the buttons in IE...I dunno if any other OS has it, but XP does...
Ok, I think this should be simple. I'm hot on the track...
Put some text in this RichTextBox, say add a couple of lines of text.
Now - Make the mouse icon change to a hand as it moves over a particular word. Just one word, not the whole sentence and, not the whole line, etc., just one word.
Create a label, which shows the word as the mouse moves over the word.
Do this with the least amount and most efficient code possible!
how do i make it so when the mouse is over
a command button the mouse pointer changes,
and when its off the button it goes back

Is there like a mouseover property?
If not...could someone help get a hover color on a picturebox?
This is what I have so far
Code:Private Sub Picture1_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
Picture1.BackColor = &H80C0FF
But when I am not hovering over the picturebox it stays the same color...
How do I fix this?
Hello, could anyone knows how to make the pointer become a hand when the pointer 'onmouseover' a button instead of showing a simple pointer, just like a web-based page. Thanks
On Mouseover In Graphics
Is there any function in VB corresponding to "on mouseover"? For instance if my user's mouse pops over a part of the display, I'd like the status bar to display info about the thing his mouse is currently over.
Is there a way to have a comment popup when you mouseover a command button...I know you can do this in a cell
I need help with a MSFlexGrid, I want to change the row color MouseMove over the rows (like phpmyadmin), I'm using FlyGuy's FlexGridRowColor function, it works fine, but I need to know over what row is the mouse over.
Does anyone know how can I get the row number under the mouse cursor?
MouseOver...........but What About MouseOff?
I want to make some custom controls, mainly I want to make some custom buttons. I plan to have the regular button image, a mouse over button image, and a mouse down button image.
The question is, and I've tried searching for a suitable answer, is how to determin when the mouse is no longer over the button so the image goes back to the default image.
Obviously since its going to be encapsulated into its own OCX, I cant just change the image if the mouse hits the form again, which wouldnt be a good way of doing it anyways.
So, in my ActiveX Control project, how can I change the image of the button when the mouse is no longer over the button?
is there a way to detect when the mouse moves over a label?
-> I was hoping there was something similar to the mouse click events for labels...
Another unrelated question:
Is there a way to make the labels fill semi transparent?
I have a program where a label reflects a code pulled from the database. I want to have it so that when you mouse over the code you see the description. The problem is that my code/ description can be different for the label depending on the day. Can anyone help me figure out how to code it so tis dynamic?
I got the original idea for this code to work but when I try to get it to refer to a picture box it gives me a compile error.
Any ideas for this one?
Private Sub Uninstall_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, _
Y As Single)
If (X < 0) Or (Y < 0) Or (X > Uninstall.Width) Or (Y > Uninstall.Height) Then
' the MOUSELEAVE pseudo-event
' in this example revert the caption to normal
Picture2.Appearance = True
ElseIf GetCapture() <> Picture1.hwnd Then
' the MOUSEENTER pseudo-event
' in this example, make the caption bold
Picture1.Appearance = True
Mouseover A Listbox
How do i make it, so that when the mouse is over an item in my listbox, it shows that item as the tooltiptext. I need it so that it changes with each item the mouse is over, so that say they put the mouse over the first item, it will say item1, when they put it over the second item, it will say item2
"I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it."
I came across this code..
Private Sub Form_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
If intLabel > -1 Then
lbl_InstallCHSI(intLabel).FontItalic = False
intLabel = -1
Private Sub lbl_InstallCHSI_MouseMove(Index As Integer, Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
lbl_InstallCHSI(Index).FontItalic = True
intLabel = Index
Well, I edited it abit.
Anyways, my question is is there a way to make a basic sub mousemove that calls a function and sends the object calling the funtion as a variable. SO that the function can determine whether to do anything or not?
Is there a way to detect when the mouse is over a control and when it is not? I simply want to know if the mouse is over a flexgrid or not. I don't want to know it's every little movement, I just want to know if it's over it or not. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!
MouseOver Or Balloons
this may be a easy and stupid question but how do you put/make balloons over links or phrase? You know when you put your mouse over the toolbar for a few seconds then a small window pops up with some kind of information.
hey everyone. here's what's going on. i'm making a helpful little program for myself that consists of a list that will act as a shortcut to my most commonly used programs. to add a little flare, i want a mouseover fontcolor change effect. i found the code to do it with one label or button:
Private Sub Label1_MouseMove(Label As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
Private Sub Form_MouseMove(Label As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
but i'll have lots and lots labels. i thought about variables and i tried making a fucntion, but i'm no expert at this. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Is there an event for a picture box that is a mouseover event? if you know what I mean. I want crosshairs to follow the mouse if its over a picturebox.
MouseOver Event ?
is there a mouseover event in visual basic ? if so, how do i use it. i am looking to make an image (Image1) not visible and put another image (Image2) in its place. then when the mouse is not over it i wish for it to return to normal (no Image2, only Image1). any help is greatly appreciated !
Is there a way to capture a mouseover on a label? I want to change my mouse cursor when I mouse-over a certain label on my form. Thanks in advance!!!
i am right in thinking there isn't a mouseover function or a mouseLeave function in vb6?
i want to mimic this for a menu. i.e like in a browser your mouse goes over a clickable link and it changes colour.
i've tried to do this with a timer function, changing the labels colour on MouseMove then setting the timer to 1/2 second which after it should return the label back to it's normal colour. but its not working, the timer function is just executing straight away and not pausing for 1/2 second before executing the code?
Any ideas? what am i doing wrong?
Private Sub Lbl_Menu_Details_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
Lbl_Menu_Details.ForeColor = RGB(200, 0, 0)
Timer_Menu.Enabled = True
Timer_Menu.Enabled = False
Private Sub Timer_Menu_Timer()
'This interval is set to 1/2 second
Lbl_Menu_Details.ForeColor = 0

This Is How To Do A MouseOver And MouseLeave
I was browsing around the net the otherday and came across a pdf file about making a label a hyperlink, and it talked about the MouseLeave issue. Well it explained a 'workaround' and i thought it was unbelievably easy so i have just got to share!
The fasinating thing is, you dont actually need any kind of MouseLeave Event to do it, this is what you do.
On your controls MouseMove event, you do your normal stuff when your mouse is over that control, but at the end add a Control.drag
Private Sub Label1_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) Label1.ForeColor = vbBlue Label1.FontUnderline = True Label1.Drag vbBeginDragEnd Sub
and this is where the MouseLeave code is, in the Controls Drag_Over event there is a handy parameter called state, you use this to determine of the mouse has left the control. And if it has you simply code what you need it to do now. but make sure you tell it to end the drag..
Private Sub Label1_DragOver(Source As Control, X As Single, Y As Single, State As Integer) If State = vbLeave Then Label1.ForeColor = vbBlack Label1.FontUnderline = False Label1.Drag vbEndDrag End IfEnd Sub
and it turns out that the controls Drag_Drop event is called when you click with the mouse
Private Sub Label1_DragDrop(Source As Control, X As Single, Y As Single) MsgBox "You Clicked"End Sub
and now all you simply do is set the control Drag Icon to a nice hand cursor and you have a working MouseOver and MouseLeave technique.
Please note I take no credit for this, i just found it off the net somewhere, but i thought it was too good for fellow vb'ers to miss if you didnt already know about it.
Does anyone know how to make those little yellowish popup labels that appear when you move the mouse over an object. I am not talking about popup menus, but rather the display that pops up when you move your mouse cursor over say....an item in the system tray, or the time.
Hover Or MouseOver
Does vb have a hover, or onMouseOver function? Something Like it? I just want to change the mouse icon to CrossHair when the mouse is over a graph, and I don't want the user to have to click the graph, just want it to happen when the mouse is over it.
when doing a mouseover, and having the icon change, there's occasionally a flicker, how can I stop the flicker.
Private Sub image1l_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, x As Single, Y As Single)
