Visual Basic And Free Email Service
ok, im working on a small project... and it involves sending, and recieving emails...
now the sending part was simple enough, by using code that i found online, changing that, and using a smtp server.
But now how do i recieve emails? i will be gratefull for any help, and it doesnt matter what email service you use to show me... as long as it is a free service (like hotmail, yahoo, web.de, etc.).
Thanx ahead of time, and please help me
P.S., umm... the better explained/more detailed the answer is, the better, cause im still kinda new to vb programming. THANX

Visual Basic 6 Free Tutorial
I know there are a lot of Free tuts out there but having used a few of them, most leave a lot to be desired.
I have dug up this tutorial site off the internet. And while I'm just getting into it its really good in that it takes NOTHING for granted about your knowledge as far as I can tell. This is something I haven't found in other tutorials. Even VB4 for Dummies.
In the couple hours I've been going through it it seems like the best VB tutorial I've come across for beginners. So I thought I would share this with everyone in case someone else is interested.
I say we have a contest. Who can post a link to the most well thought out, best written, tutorial for beginners. Eh. Just a thought.

NT Service In Visual Basic
I have written a NT Service in Visual Basic.
To do that I have used NTSVC.OCX control.
In the code I have a statement called NTSVC.Install.
On a specific machine when I try to debug the Service NTSVC.Install fails.
I have registered the NTSVC.OCX properly on tht machine.
Some time before it used to work before but now the NTSVC.Install fails regularly.
I even tried unregistering & registering it again, but still the same problem
Can any one tell me what can be the problem.

Visual Basic Service Pack 6
I don't know how old this is, but I just had VB crash on me and I sent the error report and then I got a link going to VB Service Pack 6, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

Service Pack 6 For Visual Basic 6.0
I am using the 'out of the box' version of Visual Basic 6.0.
What kinds of things does service pack 6 fix, and should I install it?
I should also mention one very important point. I have written a fairly large program that has not yet been deployed. This program uses lots of references and connections. Is there any chance SP6 would screw something up....beyond repair anyways?
FTP In Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 5
Ive been doing the same thing, and since im a lame copy paste type of coder, one thing ive found out is this: i have all the service packs loaded, so far, if i have an app with say a treview thats service pack 3, or from the forms library, i have to use that form or service pack no matter what, even with service pack 5

Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 6
Whats the deal with the new Microsoft service pack 6 for VB?? I looked at the list of fixes and do not see many.. Does anyone know any behind the scenes/undocumented fixes within this service pack? Any known issues with it??
Visual Basic Service Pack
Hi guys, I am currently working on a particular report. But my problem is the paper default setting in data report cannot exceed 8 inches. Therefore, I look for a solution. It says that I have to download service pack 4 or later. I got this site
for downloading the said service pack...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=9ef9bf70-dfe1-42a1-a4c8-39718c7e381d&displayLang=en
The time that I am going to install the said service pack, a dialog box appears that prompts me where am I going to install the said service pack? So, where am I going to store the service pack?

Visual Basic As A Service Problem
I have a Visual Basic app that I made a service. This VB app calls a com object. I used instsvc.exe and srvany.exe to install the service and the service starts and works fine, except when it needs to call the com object. When it calls this com object I get the error "Method '~' of object '~' Failed. When I run this application as a stand-alone, It works fine and if this method fails It gives me clearer error message like "Method methodName or object Iinterface Failed". Maybe the service needs permissions for this COM object?
Thanks in Advance

Visual Basic Client For Soap Web Service
hi, i am trying to create a visual basic 6 client to use this sharetips webservice:

i understand how to invoke each operation individually, but my problem is that i need to make an enquiry into the service so that all three generate live sharetips, then can tell the user to buy, sell, or close on a particular share.

Can Visual Basic 6.0 Use SourceSafe 2005's Web Service Capabilities?
I installed Visual SourceSafe 2005 on my machine and it works fine with my Visual Basic 6.0 as far as regular LAN integration is concerned. I wanted to know if there was any way for Visual Basic 6.0 to make use of the remote check-in/check-out capabilities in SourceSafe 2005. From reading the documentation it seems to me that the service is not actually accessed from within SourceSafe but rather from within Visual Studio 2005. Is there any way I can open up a SourceSafe 2005 database over the internet through SourceSafe 2005? If it is limited to access only via VS 2005 then I am not quite sure how I could grab my VB 6 files...
I was not really sure where else to post this so if it is in the wrong place let me know and I will post in the proper forum.

Email String From Visual Basic 6.0
I have an application that I'd like to have email a string to me
via the user's default email program. Any ideas on how that can
I don't mind giving the user the ability to know and govern the
email being sent. That is, I don't need the email sent
secretly. I don't mind having the application bring up an email
message, place the the string in the subject line, and then
require the user to hit "send." (On the other hand, if the
transfer is done in the background, that's okay, too, because
the user has to initiate the process anyway via a menu option.)
Visual Basic Email Client
What I want do do is to create an email client that can receive and send mails. Sending mails is easy, what I need to do is be able to get access to the mails. From what I've investigated I need to use POP3 and SMTP, but I am really a a novice at this. What I want to do is something like outlook express, to download the mails I get from any registered mail account.
Can this be done? If so, please give me any information that could be useful or any references. Thanks a lot.
Reading Outlook Email Using Visual Basic
I wrote a piece of code here that actually reads email from inbox using visual basic. Below is the code. I just want to do some enhancement. Currently its reading mailbox depending on who is logged on windows i feel. Because if i log in to windows using my username, it reads my mailbox. If i log in using someone else username, it reads his mailbox.
How do i make this same code to actually connect to the mailbox i specify. Maybe i want to connect to UserA's Mailbox with some password i specified in my program. Is it possible? Below is my code
Dim golApp As Outlook.Application
Dim gnspNameSpace As Outlook.NameSpace
Dim item As Outlook.MailItem
Dim mapifolder As Outlook.mapifolder
Set golApp = Outlook.Application
Set gnspNameSpace = golApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Set mapifolder = gnspNameSpace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox)
For Each item In mapifolder.Items

Saving a movie using Visual Basic code on the Axis 2100 network camera
The Visual Basic code below allowed me to save a single image to a hard drive.
1) Now. How do I go about to save a continuous movie file, or to save images continuously as I see it on the screen. The file should grow larger every second. What function call would I use to accomplish this ?
The Axis website at http://www.axis.com/techsup/cam_servers/dev/activex.htm does
show how to save a single image but not how to save a continuous video stream (movie).
Private Sub Retrieve_Image_Click()
CamImage1.URL = "http://peeper.axisinc.com/nph-update.cgi"
Private Sub Save_An_Image_Click()
'There has to be a picture in the CamImage1 in order for it to save
'an image file. If there is no picture in the CamImage1 then nothing is saved.
Private Sub CamImage1_OnNewImage()
Dim b As Variant
Dim size As Variant
Dim a() As Byte
Dim i As Integer
Call CamImage1.GetCurrentImage(b, size)
a() = b
Open "C:/Camera_Image/Movies1.jpg" For Binary Access Write As #1

Print Lotus Notes Email Using Visual Basic
I really dont have any idea on how Lotus Notes Email Behaves.
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the emails in Lotus Notes is saved as a filename with an extension of .nsf
What I want to do is to find all files which has an extension of this type and get the individual messages. This Files can only be copied from other workstation. I want to create something like the "Message Parser" which extract individual messages from DBX files...
Is there any component. library that I can use so that I can use it in my Program in Visual Basic...
How Would I Make A Simple Email Client In Visual Basic 6?
I am trying to make a simple email client in Visual Basic 6. I searched the internet for email controls in Visual Basic, but the only ones I could find were very expensive. I am looking for a free POP3/SMTP control for Visual Basic 6 that would allow me to make an email client. If there is a way to do this without using a control, tell me.
