Copy Graph Into New Workbook "values Only"
I have a excel workbook with several sheets. The first one is my "report"-sheet where I have a graph which data comes from the second sheet.
So as this excel workbook shall be a report to hand over to my colleagues I copied the first sheet (report) into a new workbook and handed over this workbook.
Now what happend, if the colleagues open several of these "report workbooks" at the same time, all graphs look the same (they update according to the last opend workbook I think - or was it the first? anyhow- either way). I know that this has to do with the link of the graph to the data source, which in all cases is the same (my workbook). Strange enough, that even the colleagues do not have my workbook on their computer, all of the created workbooks are in a way communicating.
Does anybody know,what's this phenomenon and how to just give the "values" of the graph to my colleagues,without the links to the original workbook like you do with cells (Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues).

I did for a long time a program that uses excel automation, so that from a template will create a final file with some data pulled from the database (with ADO). At the end and when the Excel file is ready to be saved I got in a couple of computers some problems. In the whole LAN have XP, but in these 2 computers we have SP2. I have checked the rights and are OK (I have even tried to save the Workbook under the Temp folder and also the same problem).
Working with Office 2003 (SP1).
I have searched in internet about any bugs but I don´t find anything.

My problem is this:
I have this workbook in the app.path that contains this one worksheet. I want to get this worksheet and put it, or copy it, into another workbook with the Excel object all through VB. How would I go about doing this? Thanks.

Is it possible within this string to specify that only the values of the whole sheet be copied? This file gets emailed externally and I'm trying to avoid having the message:
"The workbook you opened contains automatic links to information in another workbook. Do you want to update this workbook with changes made to the other workbook?"
The people who receive it can't get the updates anyway.
Or, could I specify that the links be removed before this line of code:

I have a data report, which displays a few fields from an Access table, one which is a boolean. At the moment if the boolean value is True, then on the data report it displays "-1", and if False "0".
How can I change this so it displays "Yes" if true and "No" if False?

Shared Workbook Error : "Catastrophic Failure." !!
I have developed a Shared Excel workbook with lots of macros and visual basic code behind it. It's been working great, but this morning when I opened it, an error box popped up that said "Automation error. Catastrophic failure." Selecting "OK" pulled up the VB editor, which was useless since you can't view any code on a Shared folder. Excel also froze up on me (forcing me to restart it). Everyone on the network had the same problem (we're all on Windows 2000) except our secretary (for some reason we were never able to figure out...). Then we did the following procedure:
1. Open the workbook, disabling the macros (all of our security levels are set to Medium).
2. Turn the "Sharing" property off.
4. Turn the "Sharing" property back on.
5. Close the workbook.
It doesn't really make sense, but the next time we tried to open it (enabling the macros), it worked, and hasn't given us any trouble since. The problem is that this workbook is for a client, and we want to fix it so that the error is not generated again--and since we were never able to find the cause, we don't know what changes we need to make.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this type of error?
One other question. We also noticed that the when the workbook is Shared, the act of saving and closing the file (even when you don't make any changes!) adds about 1 MB to the th file size! However, if you turn "Sharing" off and then turn it back on, it resets the file size to the original. Any ideas on how to keep it from blowing up?
"GANT CHART" WITH EXCEL (not Graph)

I have an excel file (you will find attached a small example(jpg as i was unable to upload the xls file) of what it looks like (in a simplified version)).
According to the start date that I have in cells B12-B17 i want excel to find (in table 1) and copy (to table 3) the standard duration of each task in table 3 at the correct collumn that corresponds to the week of the begining of the task(we consider that the maximum duration is 4 weeks and the workload is given in cells B4-E7.
What I need looks a lot like a Gantt diagram, but i need into the appropriate cells the values that correspond to each week's workload.
I don't know if something like that can be solved using formulas or visual basic (i think VB is more secure, as formulas can be erased by users,and the protection causes problems on filtering etc).

Extract Local Names For "OK", "Cancel" And "Apply"
I noticed that some programs written in C++ have an English language, but the captions of the buttons "OK", "Cancel" and "Apply" are in German, Swedish or whatever localized Windows version the user utilizes. Any idea how to obtain the captions of those buttons in VB? The only method which comes into my mind is to get the locale ID and have an array with strings for the the various language versions, but I doubt that those programs do it in that way.

I have a problem.
Following is the code :

where App.path is C:XYZ
when the above line is executed, the contents of "matrix.txt" is not printed on the printer. Instead, control just passes on to the next line.
So, to find out why, I modified the line thus.
The above command takes me to the "command prompt". Here, when I give the command "type c:xyzmatrix.txt >prn", which is what the vbcode does, I get the message "file creation error".
So, I have identified the problem. Can anyone tell me why this "File creation error" occurs, And how to solve the problem?

I have a series of macros in a workbook that starts everytime excel starts (xlstart folder). One of the macros builds a menu of available macros.
Some workbooks I open have a lot of sheets. It is inconvenient to scroll sideways to see them all. I would like to create a macro that adds a menu item for each sheet in the workbook.
I would like this macro to be dynamic such that when you open another workbook, then it adds more entries for that workbook. And when you close a workbook, then those workbooks entries get removed.
My question is: What event(s) get fired on a global level for each open and close of a workbook. Also, I do not want to add the macro to all of the individual workbooks, but rather only to my autostarting workbook.

Null Values Cause "Row Cannot Be Located..." Error When Updating Excel Via ADO.
I have been attempting to update an Excel spreadsheet using ADO. This seemed fairly straightforward at first. I set up a connection and then opened a recordset. I was able to display one record at a time on a form in text boxes and then began attempting to update the information displayed using the .update method. This all worked fine until a Null field was encountered or I deleted the contents of a field and then attempted to update it. (I was able to display fields that contained no value simply by using " if isnull(...) ....") The error message displayed by VB was...
"Row cannot be located for updating. Some values may have been changed since it was last read."
I know this sometimes occurs if a table does not have a primary key, but you cannot set up a primary key in Excel, I assume that the primary key is actually the row number.
It only occurs if a field has a null value or the value has been deleted before updating it. If I simply change the contents of the field to a different value all works properly

and vba properties (locked for viewing)
all password protected, now in excel 2000, you cant lock
all of these and still save in the '.xls' format (or at least not after the initial first save)
so i have used the "savecopyas" function, and all works ok
until it encounters a file of the same name, I want it to overwrite it and it wont
can you guys look at my code and tell me what i need to add to get it to overwrite the existing file by default....or delete it first, as this is driving me up the wall and i must get it finished soon !! or will go mad

Ok, just looking for advice, as ive not needed to do this before.
The program that i have ben working on is for re-sale in costom equipment, however it will run on any pc... my question is, is there a way of making a program run ONLY on my costom hardware? or should i create some sort of serial based activation system?
maybe i could hard code the MAC address into the program and not run if it's not right??? (i will only be selling 5-10 units at a time, so that is a feasible posibility)
any advice would be appreciated!!!!
Printing Filtered Records From "copy Picture"
I have a worksheet called "Barcodes" that collects long lists of barcode entries. To reduce paper use for printing, I have used the "copy picture" function to create picture links to a worksheet called "Print" so that multiple columns can be printed on one page. The problem is the printout contains the maximum possible pages defined in the print area and not just the required pages. as a newbe to excel, i have found this forum very usefull in obtaining information from looking at other posts or a helping hand, here is my question.
enclosed is a copy of a workbook i use for my small electrical bussness.
i have got some code that searches the workbook for any query that i input into a search box, got the code from fourm .
what i would like it to do after a search is done is to copy the results, complete row inc the colour of the cells ( for a referance to the original) and place them in the search sheet.
At the moment the result of a query goes into a box stating the cell ref i have got a sample of what i need, but is it possible.

I got this project I am doing and it is a clac for a online game called Starkingdoms and in the game there is two frames a left frame with links for military stats and crap like that and what i want is say i am looking at the military page i want to make a buttong that automatically copies and pastes all the text from that page into a text box in my project. its only a small portion of my project but its the small portion I haven't found an anser to.
How To Make The Macro "print" More Values?
I wish to learn if there exists such a teqnique which has been born by my incessant mind.:) There is a macro, which is located in here.
The macro works perfectly and my thanks to its developers always accompany any notion of it. The macro is intended to maximize chosen cell and "print" that result with every loop of itself. My question is as follows - is it possible to make the macro post a few other cells which update with the macro but are not directly dependent on it like "maximize" cell. The number of such cells is stil uncertain so I will have to ask for an example of three - the rest i will try to add myself. So here are the "test" cell numbers coupled with their corresponding names(when printed - column headings) :
AA1 - "profit"
AA2 - "loss"
AA3 -- "income"
i would bring to your attention the fact that the column headings on the resultant page would be taken from the names of the above cells. I am hoping you can help me solve this problem and make this macro even better.

ps: one point to Mark - is it possible to make the tested values start from anything other than zero cos as far as i understand Const i_Max = 23 doesn't allow for tweaking of lower limit of this vale, ie. if it will be zero or four or one.
How Do You Handle "binary" Values In VB6 (strongem)
Ok, I'm an idiot. How do you convert a string to a binary buffer? I looked for a "binary" data type, but could only find "byte" which looks kinda small. This is how I am thinking:
dim strMyString, strMyString2 as string
dim binMyString, binMyString2 as "binary"
strMyString = "MyData"
(pretending there is a function that converts strings to binary, like bin()...)
binMyString = bin(strMyString)
(Store it as a binary in the registry....then)
(Retrieve it as binary in from the registry....)
strMyString2 = str(binMyString2)
strMyString2 would contain "MyData"

Hey everyone. I am trying to write a function to replace nonnumeric values in a string. I need any input anyone has. This being done in a functoid in BizTalk. Something like:

Business Objects "copy All" Question.
Not totally sure this is the right place for such a question - but I can only ask
I've come across a problem - writing a macro to "copy all" the information on a refreshed BO report, and paste it into Excel.
Then, from there, run an Excel macro from an Excel macro book on the data.
I write macros in Excel quite often, but this is my first journey into the world of VBA in BO, and I'm stumped as how to even start due to there being no macro recorder.

Can I Copy Recordsets With Rst.Save "file.xml", ..
I want to copy information between duplicate tables stored in different MDB files. For instance, MDB#1 and MDB#2 both have a "tblAccountBalances". I want to copy all the records from the first MDB into the 2nd MDB's table. I was hoping to use the Recordset.Save function to save the contents of MDB#1 into an XML file, open the XML up with another recordset connected to MDB#2 and then use Recordset.UpdateBatch. For some reason, I can't get this to work. Here is my sample code so far:

I need to include a double inverted comma in a string, here's some more detail...

The last part of the Set statement needs to read "MSAccess;PWD=password" including the double inverted commas (where password is the password for the database). However, I want to make the user type in the password... I suppose what i've done so far is correct, but I don't know how to include the double inverted commas in the variable rcvarValueString2. The rest of the Set statement is definitely correct.
