Dec-to-hex Conversion

I need to make a converter from decimal to hexadecimal numbers.
The decimal number has to be at least 32 digit long. Are there any routines which support operations on such large numbers?

Access DataBase Conversion To Sql Database Conversion
Is there any way to convet existing access database to sql database with
some tools

Hi folks

I'm using these functions :

Private Declare Function StretchBlt Lib "gdi32" (ByVal hdc As Long, ByVal X As Long, ByVal Y As Long, ByVal nWidth As Long, ByVal nHeight As Long, ByVal hSrcDC As Long, ByVal xSrc As Long, ByVal ySrc As Long, ByVal nSrcWidth As Long, ByVal nSrcHeight As Long, ByVal dwRop As Long) As Long
Private Declare Function SetStretchBltMode Lib "gdi32" (ByVal hdc As Long, ByVal nStretchMode As Long) As Long
Private Declare Function GetColorAdjustment Lib "gdi32" (ByVal hdc As Long, lpca As COLORADJUSTMENT) As Long
Private Declare Function SetColorAdjustment Lib "gdi32" (ByVal hdc As Long, lpca As COLORADJUSTMENT) As Long
Private Declare Function GetStretchBltMode Lib "gdi32" (ByVal hdc As Long) As Long

...with the type:

caSize As Integer
caFlags As Integer
caIlluminantIndex As Integer
caRedGamma As Integer
caGreenGamma As Integer
caBlueGamma As Integer
caReferenceBlack As Integer
caReferenceWhite As Integer
caContrast As Integer
caBrightness As Integer
caColorfulness As Integer
caRedGreenTint As Integer
End Type manipulate a PictureBox, with another picturebox as a reference.

I.E. Source PictureBox is copied, modified, and applied to Destination PictureBox.

Along the way, the PictureBox is modified (notibly by)
*.caBlueGamma = Blue
*.caGreenGamma = Green
*.caRedGamma = Red
(MSDN tells me that the values of Red, Green and Blue are from 2500 to 65000 with 10,000 being no Change.)

I'm attempting to make use of a Common Dialog control for color-picking in which I'm trying to figure a way to convert the second Picture into the desired color.

So, if I picked a shade of Red, it would calculate the numbers for Red, Blue and Green needed to accomplish that color(or similar). I could just give pre-recorded values, but this seems a bit unhelpful.

Any thoughts? Is there a way to convert the values from a common dialog control into values for the Gamma?

Png To Jpg Conversion

Help With Hex Conversion
I'm writing a program which requests user input as hex data (textbox1.text, textbox2.text and textbox3.text). The problem is that writing the hex input to a file as string obviously puts the data as ASCII in the file. Changing my methodology and having them input as equivalent strings is not an option as the data is pulled from a pre-made, very long list of hex values.

So, for example, I need the data from textbox1.text (ie, FFEF) to appear in the file as hex rather than string. Because of this, I was thinking that a conversion would have to take place to get the right data, hex > string maybe? This is my only issue, the rest of the program is finished.

I hope that made sense, I'm really stuck here.

FileOpen(1, OpenFileDialog1.FileName, OpenMode.Binary)
rom = New String("", LOF(1))
FileGet(1, rom, 0 + 1)
FilePut(1, need help here(TextBox1.Text), 41570372 + 1)
FilePut(1, need help here(TextBox2.Text), 41570368 + 1)
If TextBox3.Text = "" Then
FilePut(1, need help here("0000"), 41570386 + 1)
MessageBox.Show("Operation Completed Successfully.", "Done", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Asterisk)
FilePut(1, need help here(TextBox3.Text), 41570386 + 1)
MessageBox.Show("Operation Completed Successfully.", "Done", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Asterisk)
End If
Thanks in advance!

edit: sorry, I posted this in the wrong place.. this is for VB .NET.

VB.Net Conversion Of BMP To AVI
Keywords: VB.Net, AVI Compression, avifil32.dll

Hello, I have been struggling for days now to write a VB.Net application which converts BMP Images to AVI. This program works just fine in VB but will not run in VB.Net. The problem lies with the conversion of VarPtr() in VB to some other means in VB.Net.

The main problem begins when calling the avifil32.dll function AVISaveOptions Defined as follow:
Public Declare Function AVISaveOptions Lib "avifil32.dll" (ByVal hWnd As Integer, ByVal uiFlags As Integer, ByVal nStreams As Integer, ByRef ppavi As Integer, ByRef ppOptions As Integer) As Integer 'TRUE if user pressed OK, False if cancel, or error if error

This function wants to receive a pointer to a pointer to an AVI_COMPRESS_OPTIONS Structure. The problem is that with VB.Net we are working with managed memory and it seems this function wants a pointer to a pointer to unmanaged memory.

It has been suggested to use the following algorithm in order to get the VarPtr within .Net:

Public Function VarPtr(ByVal o As Object) As Integer
Dim oGC As GCHandle = GCHandle.Alloc(o, GCHandleType.Pinned)
Dim ret As Integer = oGC.AddrOfPinnedObject.ToInt32
Return ret
End Function

I have attempted to use this method with no luck at all... I then came across another trick for allocating the memory of the AVI_COMPRESS_OPTIONS to unmanaged memory, and then passing a pointer to that memory location to the AVISaveOptions function. Once the function has completed I then read the memory location back in and I can get the updated valued from the AVISaveOptions call. Here is the code that accomplishes this for me:

'//Allocate enough memory on the global heap
Dim lpB As IntPtr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(Len(opts))

Dim source(11) As Integer ' 11 elements in AVI_COMPRESS_OPTIONS, all of type Integer
Dim destination(11) As Integer
source(0) = opts.fccType
source(1) = opts.fccHandler
source(2) = opts.dwKeyFrameEvery
source(3) = opts.dwQuality
source(4) = opts.dwBytesPerSecond
source(5) = opts.dwFlags
source(6) = opts.lpFormat
source(7) = opts.cbFormat
source(8) = opts.lpParms
source(9) = opts.cbParms
source(10) = opts.dwInterleaveEvery

'//Copy the managed array to the un-managed pointer
Marshal.Copy(source, 0, lpB, 11) 'Len(opts))

Dim pOpts As Integer
pOpts = lpB.ToInt32()

res = AVISaveOptions(Me.Handle.ToInt32, ICMF_CHOOSE_KEYFRAME Or ICMF_CHOOSE_DATARATE, 1, ps, pOpts)

' Get the data back out of unmanaged memory
Marshal.Copy(lpB, destination, 0, 11)
opts.fccType = destination(0)
opts.fccHandler = destination(1)
opts.dwKeyFrameEvery = destination(2)
opts.dwQuality = destination(3)
opts.dwBytesPerSecond = destination(4)
opts.dwFlags = destination(5)
opts.lpFormat = destination(6)
opts.cbFormat = destination(7)
opts.lpParms = destination(8)
opts.cbParms = destination(9)
opts.dwInterleaveEvery = destination(10)

At this point my opts object has valid information after the user has chosen their AVI format to save as. Everything seems to be going ok at this point, the following code executes without error:

res = AVIMakeCompressedStream(psCompressed, ps, opts, 0)

I am still wondering if passing opts at this point if valid, have I updated the object properly to pass it into this function call?

Then, once I try to call AVIStreamSetFormat the application fails with a return HRESULT which has a value of -2147205018. Here is how I call that function:

Dim B() As Byte = bmp.GetBitmapInfo()
Dim iLength As Integer = B.Length

'//Allocate enough memory on the global heap
Dim lpB2 As IntPtr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(iLength)

'//Copy the managed array to the un-managed pointer
Marshal.Copy(B, 0, lpB2, iLength)

res = AVIStreamSetFormat(psCompressed, 0, lpB2.ToInt32(), iLength)

This code fails totally when selecting the MPEG4 compression format, it seems to succeed with some other formats but the file is never written to with my calls to AVIStreamWrite. It would seem that the problem lies somehow with the opts.lpParms value which is created by the AVI dll since the code passes the AVIStreamSetFormat when this value is set to 0, and not otherwise. Just for completeness, here is how I call the AVIStreamWrite method:

' Now write out each video frame
For i = 0 To listBoxImageList.Items.Count - 1
listBoxImageList.SelectedIndex = i
bmp.CreateFromFile(listBoxImageList.Text) 'load the bitmap (ignore errors)
' bmp.PointerToBits uses the same technique as above with using the Marshal class to get a pointer the an unmanaged memory location holding the bitmap info.
res = AVIStreamWrite(psCompressed, i, 1, bmp.PointerToBits, bmp.SizeImage, AVIIF_KEYFRAME, 0, 0)
If (res <> AVIERR_OK) Then
MsgBox("AVIStreamWrite failed.")
Exit Function
End If

Can anyone help me out and tell me what I am doing wrong in my code. Unfortunately I am not a strong C++ programmer and am weak when it comes to pointers. Has anyone had success with writing bmp images to an AVI file after choosing a compression type in .NET? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3ds To .x Conversion
I've been using the conv3ds.exe utility to convert meshes to .x format, but when I load them into my DirectX8 application, they only show up black. When I load a .x file that someone else has created, it shows up fine.

I've used Anim8or and Blender to create a simple sphere, and Crossroads and conv3ds to convert. MeshX works most of the time, but my 30 day trial is about to expire, as has my Milkshape3d trial.

I've converted to an ASCII format and looked at the actual file, but everything looks right. Anyone have any suggestions?

VBA Conversion
Does any one know of conversion software to convert
applications written in Access VBA to .NET without Converting to
VB6 first.

Ip Conversion
Hello this is my first post so please be patient. I am attempting to import a spreadsheet with IP addresses into Access. An Ip address looks like This apparently is treated as a string. When I import my data into my data base where the field is defined as a INT I get 65.

So I want to create a conversion function to all Access to see this address as I was thinking of something like

Function change(ip)
dim nNum AS Integer
nNum = int(ip)
change = nNum
End of Function

Thank you

A Better Way Do To This: Conversion
I take the LONG value from the Windows Colorpicker chooser and convert it into HEX via the Visual Basic Hex Conversion.

Public Function Long2Hex(LongColor As Long) As String
Long2Hex = Hex(LongColor)
End Function

The Result is a hexvalue vice versa.
LONG VALUE:12289604

So i wrote this:

Dim iVal(2) as String
iVal(0) = Right(Long2Hex(CmDlg.Color), 2)
iVal(1) = Mid(Long2Hex(CmDlg.Color), 3, 2)
iVal(2) = Left(Long2Hex(CmDlg.Color), 2)
R1.SelText = "#" & iVal(0) & iVal(1) & iVal(2)

Isnt there a better / easier way to do this?

Im making a program which converts lines of text into the binary equivailent and vise versa. Im stuck at the point of looping the text in one text box and writing the binary in another so that what is written is all the letters in entered and there binary form. Im wondering about the use of arrays or selection and how to implement them?

VBA To VBS Conversion
Does anyone know of a good resource for converting a VBA macro to VBScript? In particular, I'm having difficulty translating the ActiveChart.SetSourceData and ActiveChart.Location commands to VBScript object methods. After supplying a workbook object and removing the colon ":", I get a Type Mismatch error.

(VBA Macro looks like:
ActiveChart.Location Where:=xlLocationAsObject, Name:="Sheet 1"
VBScript I'm using is:
objWorkbook.ActiveChart.Location Where=xlLocationAsObject, Name="Sheet 1")

As an alternative, is there any way to open a spreadsheet and kick off a macro from VBScript?

Much thanks!

C+ To VB Conversion
Hello !
I have this question.
Is it possible to convert a small programme written in C or Pascal language into Visual Basic to use it later in the Excel ? Ideally, you would paste the code into some kind of electronoc conertor and then use the resultant code without any further tweaking.
Your lazy brother,
ps:u can find example code at the bottom of this page

BMP To HEX Conversion

Thanks in advance.

I have alot of OBJ files and Lib file I created in PDQ7 I would like to use in Visual Is there a way to convert these to a DLL file or what would be a suggestion.

I have one routine I use for a masked edit using one Textbox for the entire form and Labels for information display.
I would like to convert that to a dll and not have to put it in to each and every program as a module.

I had a heck of a time converting it to visual. Took me about 3 months of constant trying different programs and a routine call fentry before I got it.

To old dos programmers it was the sub routine to call for alot of data entry.

I have been trying to convert myself to Vb but the old Dos ways a hard to break.

Conversion Sub
Anyone have a sub that converts a point to an angle?

Imagine that a line is made between the points and the origin of a graph.

The angle would have to be from the upper y-axis line to the imaginary line.

For example the point (10,10) would return 45. (Degrees) The point (10,0) would return 90. Etc...

This sub is the last thing I need for converting a concave polygon to triangles. This will help me set up boundries in the 2d level editor I'm working on, because a boundry can't be concave if you want to test if a point within the boundry.

C To F Conversion
I have coded this little app to convert to Celsius from Fahrenheit and from F to C.
My problem is that it doesnt look quite right to me.And I cannot understand how to give the user a choice which scale they wish their entry to be converted to.
Here is my poor effort.

Option Explicit

Private Sub cmdConvert_Click()
'Declare required storage space
Dim Fahrenheit As Integer
Dim Celsius As Integer
Dim F As Integer
Dim C As Integer

'Invite user to input temp
Fahrenheit = InputBox("Please input Temp in F for conversion to C ", "Temperature")
Celsius = InputBox("Please input Temp in C for conversion to F ", "Temperature")
F = Fahrenheit
C = Celsius

If Fahrenheit Then
picMessage.Print "The conversion in celsius is "; (5 / 9) * (F - 32)
If Celsius Then
picMessage.Print "The conversion in fahrenheit is "; 32 + (9 / 5) * C
End If
End If
End Sub

Thanks Steve

Hex Conversion
How can i convert a string to a hex representation and vice versa

Hi all !

I have been writing a program for several months (off and on) with the help of vbf. I have come to a brick wall. The programs I have written are in VB6 but the program I need to use with it is in Pascal. Anyone know if there is a simple way to convert Pascal to any level? It is a short program but I don't know much about Pascal. Probably the least knowledgable Pascal programmer could convert this.

any ideas anyone????

Thanks as usual !!

Mp3/wma Conversion?
I'd like to write a small program which converts mp3 to wav and wav to mp3 and wma to wav/wav to wma.

So my question is:
Do you have some tutorials, links to tutorials, souce code or something else, that shows how to convert mp3 to wav/wav to mp3 (and with wma the same) with any common mp3 (wma) codec (as Frauenhofer etc.)? I mean with API descriptions etc.?

Of course I will also be pleased if you know an ActiveX component, that does this work and is for free, too.

I would be glad if you can give me a tipp where to find that..

P.S.: If this was allready discussed in this forum, yet, please don't be angry, because I didn't find anything because of this "only-4-letters-search-string-limit." :-/ Because of that I wasn't able to search for "mp3" or "wma".

Conversion From VBA To VB6
I have managed, with help to solve all of my problems, caused when I converted VBA programmes to VB6 programmes, with the exception of the following:

The programme that reads from MS Word documents, copies one of the documents, which includes a table, opens an Outlook Template file, and pastes the copied material into an e-mail body.

Below is a portion of the code, but this code does not copy the table, just text. If I comment out ‘OutlookFile.Body = WordObj.Selection, and then hit paste in Outlook, it correctly pastes the text and table.

Below is the relevant section of code at present.

Public WordObj As Word.Application
Public WordFile As Object
Public OutlookObj As Outlook.Application
Public OutlookFile As Outlook.MailItem

WordObj.Selection.HomeKey Unit:=wdStory
WordObj.Selection.MoveDown Unit:=wdLine, Count:=32, Extend:=wdExtend

Set OutlookObj = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set OutlookFile = OutlookObj.CreateItemFromTemplate("C:Documents and Settingshbcw059Application DataMicrosoftTemplatesICOO Bidder Approval.oft")

OutlookFile.Body = WordObj.Selection‘inserts text only

I have tried all of the following, without any success:

'SendKeys ("^V")
'OutlookFile.Body = Clipboard.GetData
'OutlookFile.Body = Clipboard.GetData(vbDataObject)
'OutlookFile.Body = Clipboard.GetText(vbDataObject)
'WordObj.Selection.PasteAndFormat (wdPasteDefault)
'OutlookObj.PasteAndFormat (wdPasteDefault)
'OutlookFile.PasteAndFormat (wdPasteDefault)

Surely it must be simple, if all I have to do is hit paste, or Control-V, in Outlook?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
