Comdlg32.ocx
I have a VB program that uses simple forms and reads an .ini file. On most machines it runs fine but on a new Windows2000 server, when I launch it, it gives me the error:

'Component COMDLG32.OCX or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered. A file is missing or invalid'

What is this? When I use package and deployment wizard, this file is not listed as a dependency file. Should I physically find this file on my computer and include it in installations?

Thanks

Comdlg32.ocx Help Me !!!!
I have make a application with VB6 and I made distributing package with InstallShield Professional 7.
In Windows 2000 this application working done; but in Windows XP, it generated the following message :
The component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registred: a file is missing or invalid.

What can I do, have you got any suggestion ???

Comdlg32.ocx
ok first this started out with an attempt in JScript (cd = new ActiveXObject("MSComDlg.CommonDialog") to use the common dialog box, however this only worked on my machine....

then i found this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...alogsPartI.asp

Code:
Sub GetFileFromOCX()
Dim CDLG As Object
Set CDLG = CreateObject("MSComDlg.CommonDialog")
With CDLG
.DialogTitle = "Get me a File!"
.Filter = _
"Documents|*.doc|Templates|*.dot|Text Files|*.txt"
.ShowOpen
MsgBox .FileName
End With
Set CDLG = Nothing
End Sub
i tried that in VBA and it still doesn't work

i found some sites telling me i need to register comdlg32.ocx on the machine, though the machine i am testing on already had the file, i unregged, and re-regged:
regsvr32 /u comdlg32.ocx
regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx

however i now get the error:
-2147024770
The specified module could not be found

this is the result on at least 2 seperate machines, what else do i need to do to get this to work?

Comdlg32.ocx
Hi Ive just created an app that uses the common dialog control so I can locate to a file. Anyway it works fine on my PC and shipped it to the user but when they run it they get a message

Failed to load control ' commonDialg' from COMDLG32.OCX. Your version may
be outdated

They are running windows XP whereas I developed in 2000 although I have also tested it on an XP machine.

So how do I over come this problem, the first solution that springs to mind is to send them COMDLG32.ocx which I have but does that not then run the risk of their other apps not working (not that I know what is running on their PC)??

Thanks for any pointers...

Comdlg32.ocx ????
Hi everyone,

I am having a problem with one my users trying to run an executable. It keeps saying it is missing Comdlg32.ocx or one of its components, but that file is on their machine. My program has a reference to Microsoft DAO 3.51 Object Library, is there some other files that they need to run this? Any help asap is very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Eric

Comdlg32.ocx
I have another question, how come when i complete a program, and when they use it they get this error comdlg32.ocx, now i have to put this file into the zip file, so before they start using it, they have to copy this OCX file into x:windowssystem32 before they can use it...

is there a way around it?

Comdlg32.~ | Dll Or Ocx
Is there any real difference making calls to the comdlg32.dll for using the Open and Save As dialog boxes and rather than using the comdlg32.ocx control?

Comdlg32.ocx
Can anyone w/ VS 6.0 zip a copy of this and upload it to me?

I installed a program written in VB, but when I uninstalled it, it removed all the necessary files VB needs to run.

New COMDLG32.OCX Vs Old
Thanks in advance for checking this out.

I've written a migration utility that stores settings in a file. I use VB 6's COMDLG32.OCX to handle the opening and saving of that settings file. I have a folder on a network share which includes my VB 6 executable, the settings file, and COMDLG32.OCX (along with other files such as as MSWINSCK.OCX). If the client system running the application does not have a COMDLG32.OCX on it, the system appears to use the COMDLG32.OCX on the network share. That's perfect. However, if the client system has an older version of COMDLG32.OCX, I get the following error:

Run-time error '372'

Failed to load control 'CommonDialog' from COMDLG32.OCX. Your version of COMDLG32.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

So here's my question: How can I force the client system to use my COMDLG32.OCX on the server share without renaming (which is what I'm doing now), overwriting (which I can't do - can't change the client machine AT ALL until quarantine period expires), or changing the client system in any way?

On a related note, is there any way to make the COMDLG32.OCX part of the compiled executable?

Comdlg32.ocx
the package & deployment wizard say my comdlg32.ocx is out of date. How do I make it up to date?

Comdlg32.ocx
I'm trying to make my program to not use it and I have a question:
How do I make a filelistbox display just the filenames with an extension of my choosing?

Thanks!

Comdlg32.ocx
Should I include the Common Dialog Control with my installer? Notice my program is targeted to Windows 98SE and newer operating systems only. Also, the program is used in asian versions of Windows, and I don't know if they have different versions of COMDLG32 or what.

Comdlg32 Dll And Win XP
Hi,

currently I have some problems with the comdlg32.dll and windows xp.

my program crashes from time to time when opening and saving a file.
I know what you are thinking, bad coding..
well after restarting the program I can open exactly the same file over and over again (tried about 50 times) and no crash.

it always crashes when pressing the load or save button. and xp always reports the comdlg32.dll as the one with a problem.

does anybody know this problem.

its really hard to reproduces so all pointers are welcome.

Comdlg32 Not Found
Hi Everyone,

This is a dumb question, but I wish there is someone who can show me a way to do it.

I sent my Visual Basic .exe file to someone who doesn't have Visual Basic installed in her computer. When she run it, it would get "comdlg32 not found" error message. Is there any way to let her execute my .exe? Maybe...... like sending the comdlg32.ocx to her and ask her to register it to her computer?

Your help is very much appreciated.

Problem With ComDlg32.ocx
I'm running VB 6, and I'm having troubles with ComDlg32.ocx. When I load VB 6 up, it tells me "Could not load 'CommonDialog' from ComDlg32.ocx and the same problem happens when I try to run the Package and Deployment Wizard.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

Thank you for your time.

Center Comdlg32 ?
can I center a common dialog box (that was called with API not the common dialog box control) over the window running it using VBA? I've found several examples using C++ but they don't make much sense to me.

@ Randem - COMDLG32.OCX
Well, now my project won't run properly. I don't know at what point it happened. Whether it was after installing the runtime files or registering the new ocx, my project doesn't load properly because of this file. It won't even let me add it. It gives me the error in the pic attached. I've tried re-registering the old ocx twice and it won't work. I tried reinstalling vb5. I've removed vb5 and reinstalled it again. Still the same problem. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's one thing to not be able to run my old exes, but to not be able to run my project?

Comdlg32 Not Found?
Hey,

I made a program in Vista using VB6 and it uses the common dialog control.
I made an installscript using Inno Setup 5.

When I install the program, all is fine.
When most other users install the program, all is fine.
However, there are a few people I have heard from that get the following error:

Code:
run-time error "339":

component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies is not registered : a file is missing or invalid.

comdlg32 Is the common dialog control right? Isn't that supposed to come with windows, since windows uses it aswell?! Or is this merely a 'copy' of the windows dialog?
Why is InnoSetup not distributing this file, while it is distributing all other ocx files I use? (About 5 of them)...

Some of the users having this problem run XP and some run Vista...

What should I do?

VB6 Missing COMDLG32.OCX
When I install my VB6 programs on a Windows XP computer, I sometimes get an error that says: "Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered:a file is missing or invalid." The solution is usually simple. I copy this OCX file from my SYSTEM32 folder into my customer's SYSTEM32 and the problem is solved.

However, on one or two systems this does not work. I can't get rid of the error message even though I also install and register comdlg32.dll.

Does anyone have any suggestion on this please.

Thank you, Richard

Registering Comdlg32.ocx?
Hi guys,

I have problems with comdlg32.ocx. I was register it using regsvr32. The registering result was succesful. After that I was selecting comdlg32.oxc from control and was trying to add to toolbox. So far it was fine. After that I was not able to insert this control to my userform. I have received: "The control could not be created it is not properly licenced".

Has anybody idea what I should do?

ComDlg32 -- What IS It With This @*#%&& Thing?
I am getting the message "ComDlg32.ocx could not be loaded -- Continue loading project?" whenever I run VB4. This problem happened once before, and I got rid of it by reinstalling. Now, even a full uninstall/reinstall does not fix it.

I have seen lots of different problems with ComDlg32 in various forums. What can we do about this very prevalent (and time wasting) problem?

Help With Comdlg32.ocx And Comctl32.ocx
I have a program written in vb5. We have about 100 user on this application. About a month ago I loaded vb6 onto my desktop to test some of its features. When I tried to roll out a new version of my vb5 app it wouldn't run on the users desktops because it couldn't locate the updated comdlg32.ocx and the comctl32.ocx from vb6. When I tried to unregister the vb6 ocx files all of my image list, menubars plus other controls seemed as though they had to be recreated, which would be too much work. What can I do to get my desktop to use the old comdlg32.ocx and comctl32.ocx files again without recreating part of my program. At this time I think it would be easier to go back to the old drivers instead of updating 100 desktops. Please let me know what you think. VERY URGENT PLEASE HELP

Registering COMDLG32.OCX
Fellow Programmers,

Not to beat a dead horse, but...
I have seen many, many methods of registering the COMDLG32.OCX or any other OCX for that matter. Can someone please provide me with what they feel is the shortest, most efficient and effective source code to accomplish this task. Your assistance and knowledge sharing is greatly appreciated! And thanks for your time.

Comdlg32.ocx Problem
I have a computer with VB5 enterprise addition installed.
When I try and draw the common dialog component on a form I get the message:
"License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in the design enviroment."
I know that vb5 enterprise adition does support this component and I have the comdlg32.ocx and .oca and .dll files in c:windowssystem.
Is there a way to fix this error???
(I already tried to reinstall VB and office).
Thanks.

No Licence For Comdlg32?!
I hope this is the right forum to post this.

At the new workplace I have just started at, I have been asked to write a MS-Access application (using a licensed 2002 copy under Windows XP Professional).

Everything is going fine (though some of the SQL statements made me pull my hair out). However on one of the Forms it has been declared that I have to find a filename for a Drawing file.
So I add a commondialog control to my Form, and suddenly I get an error message saying:

"You don't have the license required to use this ActiveX control"

I haven't seen this before, and have no idea where to find the licence.
I have tried "regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx", which says it worked successfully, but I still have the problem

Can anyone tell me how to get the licence info up-to-date? Do I have to re-install Access/MS-Office?
