I really like using the Windows 10 Cortana feature where I can dictate or type a text at my desktop computer and have Cortana send it through my phone. This usually works within a minute of me sending it, but I tried sending three consecutive texts with the feature tonight and not one has been successfully sent after half an hour. Should I wait more or just assume they got lost?

I've tried signing up for the fast ring insider view on my surface, and no updates there. Cortana keeps saying she can only send text messages from a phone.

View 2 RepliesSeems plenty of stuff around to GET audio from TV TO a phone --I'd like it the OTHER way around --FROM PHONE TO TV.
I can use Bluetooth for a Bluetooth speaker - but Bluetooth is pretty horrible compared with decent HD audio -- and the top end phones have quite decent DAC's in them making transmitting HD Audio worthwhile.
I want it primarily to CAST Internet radio streams (.OPML streams) to my TV speakers - chromecast should be able to receive the audio.
I have no problem with local Audio FILES (using PLEX) and VIDEO (again using PLEX) but there's no option for capturing and streaming Internet radio either.
There's a Tunein app on the phone that can do it (sort of) but the interface is so horrible (can't select stations by genre etc and no way to save favourites for example) so if I can stream the audio output from my phone which captures Internet streams from Logitech media server and Cantata / MPD streams I'd be happy.
So, it's from PHONE TO TV not the other way around. I've got the latest Chromecast device too.

Being more techie, year ago I recommended my bro Lumia 520, over Android, tho it was way behind Android, expecting it to improve over time.
I sent an epub file to my bro's Lumia 520 from my android and lost it. Cant open that file on his Lumia. Cant browse bluetooth folder in Microsoft Files explorer and Aerize File Explorer.
No book reader Sparrow reader, bookvise reader shows up that file in their list.
Whats going on? 2-3 years later, does WP still lacks capability to open up epub file sent over bluetooth?
Gotta try out this precise scenario: "Send epub file from Android to WP and open it in WP" and tell me, I lost 2 hrs today.
If not possible in WP 8.1, hope Windows 10 fixes this, but need confirmation about WP 8.1

View 1 RepliesSo I was excited to get Windows 10 today and try out Cortana. I do have a Lumia 1020 and I do use Cortana frequently. I wanted to see how fast she could sync between PC and phone. I asked Cortana to remind me to buy milk in five minutes. After five minutes she did remind me, but only on PC. I checked my phone and there were no new reminders. Maybe I need to log out of PC???

View 1 RepliesI have slowly been fixing the issues I have run into with the Windows 10 upgrade, but I have one issue that continues to persist. The Metro text and icons in the Start Menu, Cortana, Notifications, etc become corrupt.

It takes a little time (few hours) but eventually they become corrupt and continue to worsen if I let them go. My temporary fix is a reboot or restarting Windows Explorer from the task manager. An update of my graphics drivers seemed to slightly improve the issue (maybe takes longer before they get scrambled). Context menus are not affected...
How do I send say like a internet explorer to a new desktop? Or is this feature not available yet?
View 1 RepliesI have a strange problem where my PC would idle and take a long time for the Contextual Menu to show up when I Right Click on a blank space on the Desktop. It literally take about 10 - 15 seconds for the Menu to show up.
After that it is fast again. Then after awhile it does it again. I don't know what the problem is. I try to do a Clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Wipe everything clean and install it on a 256GB Samsung Pro SSD, and it still does it. There is barely anything on the Contextual Menu so I don't know what the problem is.

View 10 RepliesI have a problem with a Windows 10 store on my desktop PC. This is not a phone.
I have the latest build 10240 with all of the updates installed. The last few updates installed over last night and then my Store app stopped working.
I searched reddit and found some similar problem: [URL] ....
The thing was that when I tried to open the Store app this morning I've got a message: Before you can shop, we need to update the Store. I then pressed Update button and then It tries to update the Store app.
But then it just says Pending and it doesn't do anything for the whole day now. I think there must be some other applications waiting for an update and they all got stuck. How to open the store?
My Dell desktop PC has been running Windows 10 since last Fall. About two weeks ago it began to have difficulty waking from sleep. Pressing the power button or a key on the keyboard causes the fan to come on and the hard drive to spin up, but the screen remains dark and in low-power mode. When I press a key the Caps Lock indicator lights up briefly.
I have to shut the PC down by a long press on the power button. When I reboot it, it starts up OK and in fact the previous set of running programs is reopened. I think this might be due to hybrid sleep: when I force a restart Windows reloads state from the hibernation file.
I've tried a couple of suggestions I found online, such as using System Restore to roll back. No improvement. Others have suggested changing the version of a device driver, such as the graphics driver, but my graphics driver is the same version it has been since installing W10.
Noticed a change in the behaviour of sleep in the last couple of weeks? I'm wondering if this is due to some update pushed by Windows Update.
I just installed Windows 10 mobile (v10586.107) and I wanted to try to send a text message from my desktop through my phone to my friends. I could have sworn that I saw an article on Windows Central that explained how to connect my desktop and mobile through Cortana, but I can't seem to find it now.
Did I imagine this? Is the texting feature not implemented yet?
I was thinking it would be really great if my desktop were to inform me when I received a new message or missed a call since I hardly check my phone.
Having changed from windows 7 to windows 10 MS word now requires one to log into Microsoft Exchange to obtain address book MS exchange apparently is now required (at a PRICE) to send an E mails direct from MS word.
View 1 RepliesAll of a sudden all the folders and files (mainly text) on my desktop have disappeared.
After a long search I was able to find them in : usersuserAppDataRoamingAdobeBridgeCS4Cache256Desktop6E309C78.
All the files are saved as .jpg and they really are images, so changing the file extension does not bring them back to text.
I guess I should have come here first but I searched the internet on how to fix this aggravation. It seems the accepted way is to go into the Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings and uncheck the box for Use drop shadows for Icon labels on the Desktop. Been there, did that, rebooted, and absolutely nothing changed.
I went back to the same place and turned off the other two references to shadows, rebooted, and again, no effect anywhere that I could see.
Why making a double image of text would seem like a good idea. All it does for me is make it damn near impossible to read.
Did we receive any word whether it would be possible for users to sync SMS messages across not only phones but computers as well? It would be very convenient for me if I could respond to someone who messaged me from my computer rather than my phone when I'm at home or doing work.
View 24 RepliesSo after my computer randomly restarting itself my desktop items have gone crazy. The text is miniscule, the alignment is insane and the (for lack of a better word) hitboxes are whacked out like so:
And then I go to access my Control Panel, no luck. Doesn't open.
I then go into Display Settings/Advanced Display Settings try clicking "Advanced sizing of text and other items", again nothing. Doesn't even change screens.
I then go to Windows Update and an update is "Downloading" but stuck at 0% permanently.
*EDIT* I am using bootcamp on a MacBook Pro
My desktop icons have disappeared, the text associated with the icons is still present, the graphic images are missing. Clicking on the text still activates the application.

View 2 RepliesThe Cortana button shows up on the task bar, but when I click on it to access the "Run" feature (Which should have stayed in the Start Menu), nothing happens. The window doesn't open anymore. This just started happening a few weeks ago.
Also, I cannot add new desktop wallpapers. I'm stuck with the current one, and if I try to add a new one, my desktop turns black.
For instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.
Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.
