Postcard Text I

I call this "Postcard Text" because of those ubiquitous postcards with the location spelled out in pictures. It makes for a cool effect which can be useful for many applications. There are probably many ways to do this, but in this group of three tutorials, we will go through three of them. Each way has advantages in certain situations, and each way offers a neat little point or two to learn about Photoshop.

Linked Letters

This monogram style is one that I am fond of for wedding monograms, with the big letter in the middle the last initial and the smaller letters being his and her first names. Jeweled Gold Text

This effect looks like inlaid glass or cabochon jewels set in cast gold. It would also pass nicely for hard candy. :)

Gel Text

Gel text! I have been asked by many people to write a tutorial for this effect and here it is at last. This tutorial is written with beginners in mind, but it shouldn't be too boring if you are beyond beginner.

Antique Gold Text

This effect lends a definite tone of aristocracy. Though I would not term this a "beginner tutorial," if you like the look, go for it! There are several steps, but I wrote this with you in mind, so you can do it. You will just have to be patient with yourself and go slowly. Glance through the whole tutorial before you begin, so you can get an idea where this is going.

Channels

This is how you get the 3D look using channels. By creating a bump map and transfering it to an alpha channel, unexpected results can follow.

Chrome Type

The essential chrome effect, don't leave home without it. This works on any object, not just text.

Chipped Type

Create a new image, and use the Type Tool to create some text. If you are using Photoshop 5.0 or later, right click on the T icon on the text layer, and select Render Layer.
