My friend updated to windows 10. And now she can't sign in. It gets to the login screen and just stops there. Tried disconnecting from power source (including removing battery), then putting it back. Still nothing. The keyboard is un responsive.
View 8 RepliesDescription: My USB keyboard stops working at the login screen. None of the keys are responsive. The onscreen keyboard works fine.
This happens on wakeup after a remote desktop session and after scheduled updates during the night. In both cases this happens after wakeup, which makes this tedious to reproduce.
The keyboard starts working after unplugging the usb and plugging back or after restarting. I have this same issue on my work PC (HP, win 10) which makes me believe that this is a windows 10 issue. I have tested with three different USB keyboards.
Troubleshooting so far: Energy settings for USB checked (USB selective suspend setting set to disabled)...
Every time I sign out keyboard stops working for no reason, I have to restart in order to make it work.
View 7 RepliesI used the free download Windows 10 Update to go from Windows 8.1. Install went find and it comes to the login screen that says "Welcome Back". I click on the next button and a small blue circle comes up and spins but nothing happens beyond that. I unplugged external drives, cards, flash drives etc and tried a hard reboot but it still stops at the same spot. What can I do from here?

View 4 RepliesRecently I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 however this caused several issues with my laptop so I reversed the upgrade back to 8.1. My Kaspersky AntiVirus would then not work leaving just a blank logo on my desktop. I tried to uninstall kaspersky using the uninstall programme available on their website but upon restart I can no longer get past the login screen as I can't use my keyboard or mouse to enter my password. I can enter a screen that allows me to select safe mode but again I can't enter my password. I have a Dell restore USB but this will not work. I have tried USB mouse and keyboard but no luck either. I cannot preform a restore at all.
View 1 RepliesI have followed several similar threads and their fixes for this problem with no result. After downloading the Win 10 upgrade, my system then said "loading updates". Then it restarted with a blue login screen saying "Welcome Back!" And a box to enter my password. The cursor is blinking in the box, but neither my mouse or keyboard works.
I have hard booted several times since the ctrl+alt+delete does not work. I am also not able to access safe mode as none of the "F" keys work during boot up.
I have tried the following:
1. Unplugged all USB devices except keyboard.
2. Turning off internet at the router.
I have a Dell desktop, and upgraded from Windows 7, with a Netgear router/modem. The only way I can get the system to move is if I power off at the main switch after booting up which goes into bios and disc diagnostics, but I don't know enough about computers to know what to do there!
I upgraded my Win 7 X64 Ultimate to Win 10 Pro X64 for free of course. I created a Windows 10 repair disk under Backup/Restore. I did the same when I first got Windows 7 years ago. Under Windows 7, I was able to boot the repair disk and easily restore a system image that I take nightly (overkill I know), over the years I used it several times without a problem when my system got screwed up.
I can boot the Windows 10 repair disk BUT it gets to choose a keyboard and I can't choose a keyboard because mouse/keyboard do NOT respond at all. It just basically freezes on that screen.
So I ask a few questions:
- Is there a better Windows 10 system repair disk I can download from somewhere to restore a Win 10 system image that I create nightly?
-- I tried a 3rd party Backup/Recovery product EaseUS Todo Backup, my Dell hard drive has 2 partitions (a dell MBR partition and the actual C drive), it backed up both partitions but that recovery disk didn't show both partitions to recover, only the MBR partition which was useless to me of course.
Is there a Simple backup software just to copy the C drive 1 partition where my windows system resides, have a recovery boot disk that boots (EaseUS boot disks booted by the way) and to restore just the C drive partition that works under Windows 10?
The computer works great but is acting slightly strange and I think it can be fixed but I am still new to windows 10.I cannot sign-in to the desktop using the keyboard now. I am forced to use the touchscreen. The computer barely wants give me the touchscreen number pad on top of that. Is there something I can do to correct this? I would much rather use the keyboard again for this.
Also I keep getting what appears to be a volume control on the desktop (see photo). It appears on the desktop then disappears only to appear and disappear again later.
I just did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10. My issue is that the system is unresponsive, programs are not responding. I took a video but I can`t seem to find any possibility to post it here, so you can`t see what I`m going through. It is really annoying, and it`s just messed up. Multitasking hangs, shows programs in the background and what not... What to do?
I`m also thinking it is a memory leak, I have 25-30% RAM use after bootup....

I downloaded windows 10 and all had been running smoothly, however, when I turned my laptop on this morning my background was black and about 20 new icons had appeared on the desktop all of which were just white and blank, i normally only have rhe recycle bin. i tried to run things but nothing worked, i also couldn't get the start menu up, I've tried restarting but it isn't doing anything.

I had the Windows 10 DEV mode, battery died and only had three icons on the screen when it came back on. Tried to press the power button to have the screen turn off, and then it became completely unresponsive. Tried to do a soft reset, made it start vibrating repeatedly and had an entirely black screen or would just continuously restart after the AT&T symbol. Then after that, the screen stopped restarting and gave short repetitive vibrates. Soft reset and hard reset don't work.
View 1 RepliesAfter upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10… The 1st time it got me to the welcome screen with my name and asked for my password. Typing in password made it unresponsive, all I could do was move the Mouse around. Searching the Internet for a solution on another computer, I unplugged my Wi-Fi adapter and rebooted. I was able to log into Windows 10 and everything seemed okay.
I plugged the Wi-Fi adapter back in and rebooted, it got to a screen with the date and a picture of a beach. From there I couldn't do anything. The only thing on the screen was the Internet icon in the lower right-hand side of the screen. There was nothing to click, I tried clicking all over the screen, nothing. I unplugged the Wi-Fi adapter and rebooted. It got to the same screen, only difference was it indicated no Internet connection available. Nothing to click on, clicking on blank space, the date, the Internet icon, All did nothing.
Every time I try system image backup with my windows 10. It starts then stops with an error.
I had the same problem with windows 7, and someone gave me these instructions (click start run cmd hit enter run as administrator

I'm stick on the below screen. My keyboard and mouse will not respond. I don't get a login prompt. The time is correct and the little icon in the bottom right indicates if my Ethernet cable is connected.
I had Window 7. I used the microsoft provided upgrade to install windows 10. The process seemed to have completed successfully. I was able to get a login prompt once and successfully logged in. I opted to not send any information to microsoft at the initial propts. I got to my desktop, everything seemed to be working ok. I thought there were a few startup apps I didn't need in my tray. So I turned off auto startup on login for OneDrive, Skype, and my logitech camera. I restarted and now I get stuck at this screen.
The time updates correctly over time, its not frozen. I can plugin/unplug the Ethernet cable and the little icon in the bottom right will change to indicate if it has internet. I can press the power button on my computer and it correctly interprets that as a shutdown command and it gracefully shuts down.
My mouse/keyboard wont work. They used to work fine. I am able to use the mouse/keyboard in my BIOS with out a problem. However the moment the system starts to load, the lights on my keyboard and mouse go out and they become unresponsive. I tried various combinations of pluging the USB keyboard/mouse into different ports. I tried using different mouses and keyboards. I tried disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS. Nothing works.
I tried getting into safe mode but can't. Most solutions to get into safe mode require your system to already be working correctly. Holding F8 or F8+Shift don't work.
I'm currently installing windows 10 on my lap top so I can try to create a restore disk. Which should then allow me to go into safe mode and try to repair what ever has gone wrong.
My computer is sporting an i7 with 16 gigs of memory. I use a 128gb SSD for my system and have 3 other hard drives for various data storage. No other OS installed. The computer has been functioning fine for the last two years.
So far I have enjoyed my new win 10. This morning the boot stops on the intro screen. this is where you touch any key & it goes on to the log on. No key works. I tried another keyboard & that didn't work.

I have tried to update it plenty of time but every time i do it fails during the second boot, it stops at 93% and goes to a black screen for a while, than it says "restoring back to your previous version of windows" I dont know what to do. I tried mostly everything. I deleted all the files in the software distribution and went into command prompt and put in wuauclt.exe /updatenow that didnt work. I downloaded the windows tool directly from windows that didnt work.
View 7 RepliesI've had a problem where Windows was booting up fine sometimes, but other times it couldn't find the desktop settings, and I couldn't open any files (even though I could browse the hard drive) and there was no Start menu.
I've been trying various things to fix this, one of which was to set up a new user account. I followed instructions to open Powershell and I typed "net user TestUser password /add". It said it was successful.
Now I cannot even get into Windows. At the sign-in screen there are no users available at all (I just have the nice picture of blue window). I have tried shift-Restart to get to the troubleshooting options, but this doesn't work, it just restarts the PC and I get back to the same sign-in screen.
With Windows 8,1 I was able to sign out of my account and then put the PC to sleep (or shutdown, restart or hibernate) by selecting the option in the sign-in screen. But there is no power icon or any power options on the Windows 10 sign-in screen. I can only put the PC into sleep mode while signed in.
View 3 RepliesDuring boot-up, I get a blank screen (shows cursor arrow which responds to touch pad movements), after the sign in page, which I can't I can't escape from except by forcing shut down and restart. The reboot can then take as long as five minutes to complete. I have considered using the restore route, but am warned that there is a long list of apps etc which will need re-installing, and this looks arduous.

View 1 RepliesWhen Windows 10 starts up I am requested to input a password which I know and I do. I wish to get rid of this entire sign in screen and process, so I go to settings, accounts. sign-in options , password and click on change (hoping to reset it to nothing or blank) where I am requested to put in my password. I input the same one I used at Windows 10 start up and I get the error message "The password is incorrect. How can this be and how to I find out what to input here so that I can get rid of the initial sign in screen? I somehow messed this up but cannot fix it.
