Google Favorites Disappeared Upon Installation On Laptop

Aug 17, 2015

I successfully installed Windows 10 on my Panasonic laptop but when I went to Internet Explorer and then to Google, all my favorites were gone. I was under the misconception that this wonder-product would update my systems seamlessly.

When Using Google Chrome / Taskbar Disappeared

Dec 26, 2015

All of a sudden, when using Google Chrome, the taskbar disappeared, and when I minimized Chrome, the background and desktop icons were missing from the screen, all my windows minimized at the bottom left corner. I restarted my PC but that didn't worked... This happened for no reason, I'm 100% I didn't pressed anything, nor installed anything before that might cause the problem..

I can still open almost everything through a window.. but there's some things that don't work now, like clicking right click on background does nothing, adjusting sound through keyboard also (while adjusting screen brightness works properly), I've also tried to open start menu using my keyboard, but that does nothing.... Google Chrome also doesn't want to open, I'm asking this question through IE....Today, my screen also rotated for no reason, just like smartphones and tablets rotate screens..

Installation :: Unable To Install Favorites Or Favorites Bar

Aug 19, 2015

After activation, the IE Favorites + Bar didn't install from Windows 8.1. I attempted to install using The Hub but it came back with 'Couldn't import favorites' from IE. I managed a manual install using cut and paste from the legacy IE file to the Favourites file in Win 10. This was successful for both Favorites and Favorites Bar, but it only lasted until the the machine was rebooted. The Favorites/Bar were once again missing from Win 10.

Installation :: IE Favorites Not Migrated To Edge During Installation?

Jul 31, 2015

I just installed Windows 10 over my Windows 7 Pro installation. Everything seemed to go well. I can see most of my stuff migrated (background, start menu items, etc.). BUT one thing that I was sure should migrate didn't - my Internet Explorer Favorites are nowhere to be found in the Windows 10 installation.

It took some digging, but I discovered that IE is still installed in Windows 10. Clicking the ... button gives you the option to "open with Internet Explorer".

To migrate your favorites from IE to Edge, click the ... button in Edge and go to Settings. You will have an option to "Import favorites from another browser" - and IE is one of the "other browsers" available.

Browser/Email :: How Can File Folder With Favorites Be Loaded Into Edge Favorites

Feb 2, 2016

I have lost all my Favorites in Edge. I have recovered a copy of the desired Favorites and have placed these favorites on my desktop as a file folder. The file structure has all the folders, and within each folder, the links to all the favorite websites. I have tried placing the contents of this file into the following location:

C:UsersAdminAppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbweACMicrosoftEdgeUserDe fault

I understand that this is the default location for Edge Favorites. With the desired "Favorites" folder placed and verified in the above location and I open Edge and click on Favorites and all I see under Favorites are two folders "Favorites Bar" and "BookmarksBar" (as expected both currently empty). I had hoped to see also an expandable "Favorites" folder with all the subfolders. How to use the previous referenced Desktop file folder or its content to restore my Favorites in Edge.

What i need to say that on HDD disk everything works perfectly. I don't use this HDD anymore, just SSD. I want to be able to run recovery enviroment from pre boot (using F11 key).

Installation :: Resetting Laptop Using Old Media Installation Files

Jan 4, 2016

i'm having an issue with my laptop, i think it's something called a memory leak because my RAM won't go below 80% even when my laptop is idle. I've been searching the internet for answers on how to fix this problem but didn't find any luck. I've already wasted an entire day trying to figure out how to fix this, I even tried to do a system restore but i forgot to save any restore points. I'm hoping Resetting/Refreshing would be the answer but i'm facing another problem; My media installation tool or USB Bootable Drive (I don't know if they're the same. It's what i used when i installed Windows 10) is that of a previous Windows 10 version & build. Would it work If i use it to Reset my laptop? I'm currently using the latest version, build 10586.36.

Logging Into Google Chrome On Second User Account Converted That User Account To Google ID

Sep 20, 2015

I upgraded my kids' computer to Windows 10. It had an administrator account (for me to set things) and two separate user accounts for my daughter and my son.

I made the *mistake* of logging into Chrome with my Gmail acct ID while on my Daughter's user account.

Now, it's no longer her account. It has a password (It never had a password before). And instead of her name, it's literally my gmail account name.

I need to take some time to clean out the user account settings, but she has her steam, minecraft and other settings on her account. I don't really want to trash it and make a new one.

USB Installation - Laptop Won't Boot

Mar 3, 2016

I am currently attempting to install Windows 10 but I am having some troubles. I have just removed my existing hdd and replaced it with a Samsung 850 evo 250gb.

As expected, the laptop is now displaying a "Boot device not found" error. I have inserted a usb that I created with the Windows 10 tool however the laptop won't boot it.

I have gone into the bios and put the usb at the top of the boot order but it still won't work. Do I need to disable secure boot or go to legacy mode?

Finally, will windows install the system using in the newer GPT mode?

Unable To Close Down Laptop After Installation

Oct 7, 2015

My laptop has been running windows 7 very successfully and after being prompted numerous times to install Windows 10, I went ahead last night. Had no problems with the installation, however, on attempting to close down, the laptop would only turn-off after closing the lid which is not a problem, but after about an hour or so, it turned on automatically again without me touching it. It looks as though it only goes into stand-by. I have not found a solution to the problem - the result is flat battery when I tried to use it today. What is the solution?

Installation :: Cannot Reinstall After Having To Reset Laptop

Sep 10, 2015

Long story short, I have had Windows 10 on my laptop ever since the second I could upgrade it. Last week my laptop got infected with a virus and would not boot up. I tried everything and the only solution that would work was to reset it to factory condition which brought my laptop back to windows 8.1. I no longer see any notifications popping up telling me I can upgrade to Windows 10. Is there another way I can upgrade or am I stuck with Windows 8.1 for good?

Installation :: How To Clone From Uninstalled SSD To New Laptop

Oct 22, 2015

My previous laptop running windows 10 finally gave up the ghost and died on me. Not a hard drive issue but power problems (in trying to fix it I broke some of the solder joints), any way it was 5 years old and was due to be replaced, however the hard drive was absolutely fine. So I bought a new laptop with a shiny new 1tb hard drive with windows 10 pre-installed.

So having used Macrium before (when I installed a 256gb SSD) I decided to leave the new laptop as a clean install and reinstall any programs that I still needed. Guess what, it seems that there was an awful lot of stuff that I had accumulated that I just didn't need any more. After copying some documents over for work and installing a couple of essentials total space used including OS is less than 75gb.

Installation :: Upgrade Failed On Laptop

Dec 24, 2015

I convinced my friend to upgrade to windows 10 on his laptop and it failed leaving it screwed.

The laptop is based on a Clevo W350ET chassis.

When you turn it on it goes to a screen saying 'Recovery Your PC/Device needs to be repaired, A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed, Error code 0xc000000f'.

Any options like revert to a previous built, system restore or whatever do not work.

Any chance of saving the current install or will I have to reinstall everything? My friend has old programs he is concerned he cannot get anymore.

Installation :: Laptop Shuts Straight Off During Upgrade

I have a lenovo e425 laptop that recently received the windows 10 upgrade from microsoft. When I put my computer back on, and it says attempting to recover installation, it shuts down AGAIN like *poof* Then when I restart it again, it just goes back to "restoring previous windows" and it restarts then my computer shuts off again like *poof* Then when i put it back on, it comes on normally, and says failed to install windows 10.

Installation :: Cannot Upgrade - Setup Won't Start In Laptop

Aug 17, 2015

Why I cannot run the windows upgrade setup from my USB (G:setup.exe). It is always showing me this error "Use the other installation disc that says 64-bit. When you insert it, Windows Setup will restart automatically."

I also heard that for many people it worked when they run windows setup from "G:sourcessetup.exe" (G: is my USB drive). But when i am trying to open the file it shows Shows setup screen for a few seconds then pops an error "This 32-bit version of Windows cannot be installed to an EFI-based computer. Installation cannot proceed. Use a 64-bit version of Windows to install to an EFI-based computer."

I am trying to run this setup on my HP laptop (Preinstalled: Windows 8 Single Language 64bit) via bootable USB of Windows 10 Home Single Language. I download the Windows10.iso image file via MediaCreationToolx64.exe and created a Media USB disk to install the operating system on the same laptop.

Bootable USB is running setup if i boot my laptop with USB disk. But it will force me to install a fresh Windows 10, which i don't want to. I want to upgrade my current Windows 8.x.

I am sure that i've downloaded correct 64bit version of Windows even i have Windows 10 AIO 32bit/64bit ISO image. Same errors showing in this ISO image too. If i run the "G:sourcessetup.exe" in my PC (which is running Windows 8 64bit) then it runs the process without showing me any error. Why it is happening with laptops only? I also tried to run setup from same USB in my another Lenovo Laptop (which is currently running Windows 8.1 Single language 64bit) but no luck it shows the same both errors.

Installation :: How To Do Full Reinstall Of Windows On Laptop

Jan 30, 2016

I have a Toshiba Satellite E45DW-C4210 (came preinstalled with Windows 10 so no disc obviously) & it came with some bloatware from Toshiba.

How can I do a "fresh" wipe or whatever you want to call it so only Windows 10 is on the laptop, I don't want any Toshiba software/bloatware on the laptop. Basically just barebones, as if I built my this laptop myself and put a copy of Windows 10 on it. That is what I'm looking to do. I just feel starting over again with nothing but Windows will improve the laptop.

I know you can do a system reset where it wipes all your data & re-installs Windows 10 but then the Toshiba's software is just installed all over again. I don't know if this is possible but if it is how can I achieve this?

Installation :: Factory Resetting Laptop After Installing

Jun 28, 2015

My Samsung Activ9 came with windows 8 preinstalled, to upgrade it to 8.1 I had to manually install every windows update by hand and some had to be installed before the others, so hundreds of individual updates had to be done which took me all day.

I upgraded to windows 8.1 eventually and thought 'excellent, no more manually installing updates as recovering my system would mean starting with a fresh copy of windows 8.1 right? Nope, i few months ago I had need to recover my notebook to factory defaults and when it was finished it booted into.. yep, windows 8, so again I had to do the individual update thingy.

Will this upgrade to windows 10 mean that should the worst happen and I need to factory reset again, that windows 10 will be the default OS?

Installation :: Both Laptop Screen And External Monitor Go Black

Nov 28, 2015

I have the new Acer Aspire laptop and a TV which I use as a monitor. They have worked together very happily some time now. But yesterday I had to do a forced shutdown when the start button would not work and the TV screen shrank in size and there were error messages. When I rebooted, the TV monitor stayed black and a computer screen came alive for about 10 seconds as it was rebooting, then went black. I disconnected the TV from the computer and started her up and the computer screen behaved itself.

Even if I set all of the display parameters to indicate only one screen (the computer screen), if the TV monitor is connected to the computer, I end up with two black screens.I have tried many display duplicate and extension. No new software installed. There is one clue. I disconnect the TV monitor from the computer, boot up, choose duplicates to display. Then I connect the TV monitor to the computer. What happens, for about one second, is that both screens light up.
