Installation :: Update Stuck Around 60% And Reboot

Aug 30, 2015

I've been trying to update my windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for at least 10 times now and it always stuck at around 60% It reboots itself a few times and it always comes back to the circle screen with the % progress but getting around 60% it reboots and it gets stuck there... black screen, no cursor, no sound.

I've tried to plug it into a secondary screen thru hdmi but nothings happens; also I've uninstalled my antivirus since I've read it might be the problem but it didn't work..

I've got a Dell Inspiron 7537 Windows 8.1 x64 Intel Core i7, 8gb ram, Intel HD Graphics 2gb + Nvidia GeforceĀ

Reboot Process For Latest Update Stuck At 40%

Nov 12, 2015

So after having numerous issues with my ASUS VivoTab Smart upgrading to Windows 10 (Sound issues, display driver issues, losing my Recovery Drive, etc) I finally got everything fixed and my tablet was finally running as wonderfully as it did on Windows 8.1..... For about a week.

And then this latest build for W10 comes out. I downloaded it and then attempted to install it

The system restarts to do the update with the circular progress bar but then gets stuck at 40%. I have had this problem on three different PC's in the past and all I did was power them off, boot up again, and then it would finish off the update with no further issues.

But that didn't happen this time. I powered off my Tablet and then started it up again. Instead of carrying on, W10 decides to cancel the whole update and roll me back to am earlier version of W10.

I thought I would try again and this time wait longer. Maybe I was impatient. Went through the process again, rebooted, started the update install and then stuck at 40% yet again. I figured I would just plug my tablet in and leave it while I slept surly it would finish by the time I woke up. Nope it was still at 40%

Powered it down because I couldn't do anything else, but it decided to roll back again. What's worse is that it seemed to have rolled back to a version of W10 prior to when I got everything fixed mentioned above. So now not only am I stuck with a dud upgrade that keeps trying to install after a period of time, but I have to fix all my previous issues again. How to resolve this update freeze?

Update Failure When Desktop Suddenly Powered Off - Stuck In Reboot Loop

Aug 23, 2015

I recently received the Windows 10 download on a desktop PC. The installation seemed to be going swimmingly however desktop suddenly powered off. Upon reboot, I'm stuck in a vicious failure loop. I tried to restore to no avail and tried to boot Windows 7 from a physical disk, but no matter what I try it appears my desktop PC is history. It ran Windows 7 just fine. I really wish I hadn't pushed my luck with Windows 10.

Installation :: Install Stuck For Hours Then No Monitor On Reboot

Jul 29, 2015

I installed Windows 10 fairly quickly on my laptop, and firlgured it'd be just as painfree to do so on my desktop, but the install was stuck at 'Copying files - 48%' for hours. I figured that since it was just copying files, I would just restart the PC and start over, but now my PC does not want to output video. On startup, I don't even see the normal BIOS screen, and there is only HD activity for about a second after I power the PC back on.

Installation :: Update Stuck In Reset Loop?

Aug 1, 2015

My installation is stuck in a reset loop. The Win 10 Ready to Install came up, so I clicked Start and it rebooted, back to the login screen, and then Windows Update came up saying it needed to Restart Now. After a couple of minutes the Win 10 Ready screen comes up again. I've rebooted about 20 times and get to the same point every time.

Installation :: Stuck 12% / 42% On Update Installation

Sep 27, 2015

I have a desktop PC running 8.1 x64. I decided to upgrade using Windows Update to 10. The files are downloaded with no problems, and then it asks for reboot. And when installing the system, the process stuck at 12% (copying files 42%). It just stays there for hours. If I force a reboot, the operation starts to revert to 8.1, and when it finally boots, I see this error: C1900101-2000D.

I haven't found much information about the error, I've tried the installation for a couple of times now, and I'm getting a bit desperate.

For a few weeks I'm already stuck in Build 10166 of the Windows Insider program, Microsoft said that insiders would receive the launch version before public but I still haven't received an update to the final version yet. However non insiders already have the final version. I'm refreshing the Windows Update every half an hour and it only gives me Windows Defender updates every now and then.

After First Reboot Screen Stuck When Upgraded

Jul 30, 2015

I upgraded to win 10 today from 7. After rebooting my screen now shows windows wallpaper (one of their scenic view wallpaper) as I had a custom picture and it displays the date and time in the left corner. See attached picture. I have no cursor and the keyboard doesn't work. The keyboard and mouse light up like their connected properly but they don't work. Ctrl Alt Del does not work.

I've plugged them into other USB ports but I get the same result. I've booted into bios and the mouse and the keyboard work there. I've rebooted dozens of times to the same result. I also downloading the media creation tool to a USB drive and tried booting from that and repairing the OS but no result...

Stuck At Sign-in Circular Loading Animation After Reboot?

Aug 1, 2015

I upgraded to windows 10 from 8.1 through Microsoft's updater. I used Windows 10 for web browsing and then after my use, I shut the computer down. After my first reboot, OS crashed several times and sent me to the recovery page.

Steps I took:
1. Reset system (keep files)
-> Failed
2. Restore
-> Failed

System reboots with a black screen and a mouse pointer. Few minutes later, I see a blue screen with a circular loading animation icon. I gave it few hours before force shutdown (I also left the system running overnight. No progress). Every single recovery option did not work, and I could not find any solutions online.

What I do have:
Linux Mint (as dual boot).
Can access Windows 10 drive from Mint.

It seems like the only solution I see is to clean install Windows 10 after backing up my files.

PC Reboot Loop After Update

Aug 3, 2015

I was using a machine with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it was working perfect till the day I upgraded to Windows 10. First, I had a few problems during the update, probably due to the not updated (with the last drivers) nVidia card.

My specs:
-SSD hard drive as boot
-MOBO is Gigabyte GA-768XP-UD3P updated with the lastest BIOS from 2013, UEFI.
-a few other hard drives
-nVidia GTX 980 graphic card

Well, I finally was able to install the Windows system, but after the shut down and boot, I couldn't enter it. The computer started to reboot after a few seconds, sometimes I'm able to see the BIOS screen (but pressing any button doesn't work) and then it boots again in a few seconds.

After some search online, I understood it could be a problem of the BIOS that was corrupted (why if it worked till the day before??). I used a very strange system to press the power on button and put down and up the PSU for 3 times, then when I rebooted again I saw the screen with "The main BIOS is corrupted and we have to recover it from a backup".

The setup of the BIOS from backup worked, but with "load optimized default" I then got a Windows 10 blue screen error " :-( INNACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

I then entered again the BIOS and changed some info like AHCI, UEFI only, etc.

Then, after a reboot it worked and I could enter WINDOWS 10 finally.

I thought I was OK, then I tried a reboot and it worked. BUT, when I tried to first shutdown and then boot, again I went inside the BIOS reboot loop!!

When i rebooted I became stuck in an endless reboot cycle. I don't know how to get out of the cycle.

I get to the login page then the laptop automatically reboots itself if i don't try login. If I try to login it also reboots. So i can't get past the initial login page.

Reboot After Windows Update Vs Shutdown And Restart

Aug 31, 2015

Noticed that after an update from Windows Update you "Must" do a Reboot for the installation/update to process. In prior versions of Windows when I would take an update, I might just wait until I shut the PC down for the night, and it would finish up in the morning upon startup. In Windows 10 that no longer works (for me) it MUST be a Reboot for it to process...

BSOD :: Inaccessible Boot Device After Reboot From Update

Oct 16, 2015

I can not provide a crash log or a screen shot because I can not get past the Repair/Diagnose loop.

My Windows 10 pro has been running just fine until yesterday when I did an update. After the update and reboot, I get stuck in a loop stating the system cant start because of "Inaccessible boot device". It goes thru a process of restarting itself and self diagnostics and repair, but it keeps looping without fixing itself. I do get to select options such as boot up in safe mode but it wont, it goes back in that loop. I can boot into the Bios, I have an SSD that has always been set to ACHI mode, and it is. I just cant get out of this loop?

The only fortunate thing is that I have backup image files, so I do a quick secure erase of the SSD and reload the image fresh. All goes well until I do the Windows update, then reboot into this problem. I disabled Updates for the moment and spent a lot of hours on Google and YouTube, nothing I found so far has worked, so I figured I would try a fresh start here.

Installation :: Installation Black Screen On Reboot - No Cursor

Sep 12, 2015

Upgrading from windows 7 to 10, started install at around 10:30am and left it....around 2:30pm it started the large circle with the % in the centre, and again left it for another hour or so and came back to a black screen, no cursor or anything.

I waited until about 7:30 and still nothing and did a reboot by holding the power button down. On restarting, I get the windows 10 logo with the spinning dots, and then it cuts to black with no cursor. The CPU light does what it would usually do on startup, and when it first cuts to black but then the screen seems to change to a different black (if that makes sense?!) and the light only blips extremely quickly with a long period before it blips again

i know this is another update gone wrong post but I can't seem to find any with the same problem, just similar ones. I've read it can take a long time, but it's been nearly 11 hours and is very frustrating!

i'm not mega pc savvy, I get 2 options when I boot, and I've looked and there's no option for me to do a safe boot, or to revert back go windows 7. If I leave it on black screen for too long it automatically goes into sleep mode.

Installation :: Can't Install OS - Reboot When Launching Installation

Feb 10, 2016

I have been trying for hours to install windows 10 home on my newly built PC but i can't because there is a problem. I bought the usb version since i don't have an optical drive bay.

The problem: I can start the setup, but when i launch the installation my pc suddenly restarts and boots the usb again, so i get back at the 32/64 bit selection screen. This happens when i click "next" after choosing my drive (see included video). The drive i'm using is a Samsung 850 EVO SSD.

I have tried numerous things to fix it including: removing the ram (2x8GB) and putting it back, trying with one ram stick, removing the graphics card and use the integrated graphics card, use different usb ports, use different sata ports, removing the hdd (i can't even start the setup with the hdd plugged in).

I also downloaded Windows 10 from the official website and put it on an other usb stick, the same problem occurs.

I even tried with Ubuntu and the same problem happens!! When i launch the installation my pc reboots and the setup restarts!

I have made a video showing what happens (win 10): OS installation problem - YouTube

I also made a video that shows my BIOS: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 BIOS - YouTube

Installation :: Freezing After First Reboot?

Sep 5, 2015

I have recently been trying to upgrade to windows 10 on a used alienware aurora r3 pc. I got my reservation, checked the windows 10 app every day, and finally, I was ready to get the upgrade, but I'm having issues installing it. After windows update downloads everything and I get to the installation proper, it takes like 4 hours for it to get to about 30% and then finally reboots. I'm taken to a windows ten loading screen, but each time I get to this point, the loading circle freezes. If I turn the pc off at this point and back on again, it reinstalls my normal windows 7 and I'm able to get back to my files and everything, but I still really want to get 10. Solved Build 10041: Freeze on Restart - Windows 10 Forums My issues seem to be similar to what is described in this article, and it may have something to do with it setting "fast reboot" on by default. What do I need to do to resolve these issues?

Installation :: Welcome Screen Then Reboot

Dec 29, 2015

Bought new motherboard, a new PSU tried loading win10 umpteen times from ISO ( same with win 8 + gen key ) I get this far all the time every time. Just won't go into Windows proper. All the fixes like restore/reset don't work.

I can get the command prompt > but don't have the expertise to know what I could type to understand why I can't progress into any windows OS

tried partition magic + hirens boots to completely wipe the drive then clean install windows have run memtest86, HDD tools, no bad sectors, oh mouse/keyboard are new too . Its only the CPU I haven't changed and that is nicely set at low temp, as in BIOS I've upped the fan to keep it cool.
