Just built a X99 system, now I need to install Windows 10 and I don't have a optical drive but the copy of Windows 10 I bought is on a disc, so I need making a bootable Windows 10 USB. The USB is empty and formatted as a NTFS.

Laptop System: Toshiba P755-S5120 / 8GB Ram / PNY SSD 240GB / Ubuntu OS. I have a new copy of Win 10 Home USB.
The latest Ubuntu is currently installed on the SSD. I tried to replace Ubuntu by installing Win 10. I can boot from Win 10 USB, enter the product key, but the 'Where do I want to install Windows' dialog box shows the warning 'Windows can't be installed on drive 0 partition 1. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS'. I have the option to delete the partitions but not format. It doesn't ask me if I want to format the SSD anywhere during the process.
What would be the steps to get Win 10 on SSD or possibly reformat the SSD to NTFS?
I recently tried to fresh install Windows 10. I ended up getting stuck in a install loop with the error INCOMPATIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE so I tried to use a USB instead. This resulted in an error saying my USB was formatted in NTFS instead of Fats32 (even though I had just formatted it to be fats32).
My first question would be how to fix this error? Now, while trying to download Windows, I accidentally deleted my Linux partition (woops). My second question is to just delete all partitions on my hard drive and restart from scratch? I'm attempting this on a Lenovo Ideapad y510p.
I've searched on Google how to make a USB bootable to install windows files. I'm planning to buy Win10 CD, but my PC DVD drive is dead (making an annoying noise during startup). so is there anyway to make USB bootable to install windows files?

View 1 RepliesWhen I made the decision to move to Win10 I also decided to get a new SSD. So I had Win8 on my HDD and I've been trying to get Win10 on the SSD. I tried cloning the drive however it does not look right and it won’t boot to the cloned drive.
I also tried installing Win8 on the SSD but it said the drive wasn't formatted correctly.

Have just upgraded to windows 10 and when I try to export a csv file using excel, the file is missing columns and not formatting properly. Have tested same csv file on different laptop (not upgraded to 10) and it's working fine. What I need to do to correct this problem.

View 1 RepliesI'm experiencing problems with Windows 10 trying to load. I'm unable to get past the login screen. It seems that Win is locked up on me and appears unresponsive. Trying to type my password at login screen, it just seems to sit there. After a few mins some characters appear in the password field with much delay. After all of this, I have attempted to load a live Linux distro to grab files/data off the drive to start backing up the OS and reinstall. View 7 RepliesI recently purchased a Samsung M3 slimline 1TB hard drive to backup and create a system image of my PC onto. I plugged it in and it installed all the necessary device driver software however when I go to create a system image or backup I get this message:
Windows Backup skipped backing up system image because one of the critical volumes cannot be included for backup. Check that volume is online and is formatted NTFS.
After going into drive manager I saw that I had a volume/partition called ESP which was FAT32 and was 500MB. How do I change this to NTFS so the backup/system image works and out of interest what even is ESP? When a tick box comes up on what I would like to create a system image on, the C: drive box is ticked as well as the ESP box however they are blanked out so I have to select them.
Fresh Installing Windows 10 and before downloading file, I was thinking if I should format my drive to Fat32 OR NTFS OR exFAT? Does it make any difference ?

View 1 RepliesI tried to access a laptop hard disk using an adapter from a laptop. Once or twice It was successful but last time I checked it showed me files and folders with unreadable characters and it's partitions are also gone. When I checked its format I found out that it has changed from NTFS to FAT32.
When I try to open any file or folder it gives an error message saying it's not accessible and the filename or directory name is incorrect. I tried reading another hard disk to see if it's something to do with my adapter but they are all working fine. What happened or to recover the data unharmed?.
Am I right in thinking that after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, I should be able to make a bootable USB including a system image without having to copy install.wim from the downloaded media, placing it on the C: partition and setting the appropriate entry in ReagentC?
As I can only make such a bootable USB after performing the above steps, does this mean that if I subsequently delete the install.wim and ReagentC entry, I will not be able to effect a recovery from the hard drive alone?
Recovery media seems to be fussy about the type of flash drive I use. I can make the full recovery drive including the system image on a Sandisk Cruzer Blade, but if instead I try using a Sandisk Cruzer Edge of the same size, I can only make a boot USB without the image. Otherwise I get the message 'We can't create the recovery drive. A problem occurred while creating the recovery drive'. Why is this?
I just brought a 128GB sandisk ultra usb 3.0 because as a computer tec im tired of fumbling through my tons of usb drivers to do a job. , i want my windows installers & Linux, bookable tools and such all in one usb. so i looked into multibooting usbs and came across many tools, one being SARDU. But i need a hybird UEFI/MBR boot and my laptop doesn't support uefi & legacy simultaneously only one or the other.
So using SARDU i cant see or boot from the usb unless i switch bios to legacy mode, works well because i see and can boot from all of what i have windows installers and linux distros but i have to keep switching back and forth between legacy and uefi. i was wondering if i can make the usb primarily Uefi bootable BUT also bootable for a old MBR if needed.
I find the new taskbar icons in Win 10 to be annoyingly small. Is there a way to make them appear bigger?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to just run my laptop as a desktop, as the screen hinges are faulty. Its a Lenovo Y410P. I know how to switch the display to the external monitor in the control panel settings. But I want to make it so that I can put the laptop to sleep or restart the laptop, and upon boot up have the login be displayed on the second monitor exclusively.
Currently, when the laptop is started from sleep or restarts, it will display everything only on the laptop screen. Then I have to open up the laptop, switch settings and send it to the external monitor.
Monitor is a ViewSonic VA2265smh. I'm running this via HDMI cable.
I guess that'll be called "exporting" the Bookmarks file ? Under Windows 10.
Anyway, I need to have a copy of my favorite websites, o bookmarks, on a pendrive, to use on other computers.

View 6 Repliesmy hard drive seems like it's always working overtime in the background making that sound that tells me something is running idon,t know what can be running that hard in the backround but it is causing my computer to run like crap i just did a factory rest an did a clean install on this computer because of that an now it is still doing it.i can,t be a software issue because it was doing that before i reinstalled any of my software.
