Main board is an ACER AST690, CPU Pentium D 2 core 3.4 GHz, OS Win 7 Pro SP1 When I first tried to load Win 10, I was running an Pentium 4 672 HT-Vt, 3.8 GHz. I got a message that my CPU was not supported. Coreinfo indicated prefetchw was missing. I found the Pentium D 2 Core that has prefetchw. Win 10 still won't load from the start menu icon. I downloaded the isoimage of Win 10. It will load but as home addition which I don't want. My last check of compatibility of Win 10 was on 8-10-2015. Do I need to wait until after 9-10 for Microsoft to rerun the compatibility test? I really don't want Home Addition of Win 10, I want to upgrade from Win 7. Will I be able to load Win 10 after 9-10?

Jul 31, 2015I currently own a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop with Windows 7 installed, but just received the last part to build my own desktop today! I'm looking to get Windows 10 on my new PC.I recently received the "Get Windows 10" button in the toolbar on my laptop, but when I click on it, it says I can't upgrade to Windows 10 because "the BIOS isn't supported".
However, I don't really want Windows 10 on my laptop; I'd much rather have it on my new desktop. So, my first question: is there a way that I can download a bootable Windows 10 file to my current laptop, transfer to a flash drive, and use that to install Windows 10 on my new PC right out of the box, all for free?
So my next question is: will buying and downloading the version of Windows 8.1 Pro in the above link work for my situation? That is, is it a full install in the sense that I will be able to make it a bootable file on my flash drive to install on my new PC? I believe I would have to download a Windows 8 ISO file to start.
My last question: is there an easier alternative to getting Windows 10 on my new PC, and if so, what is it? I think I can download Windows 10 here: URL... I'm not quite sure how that process would work either.
CPU Isn't Supported Message When Trying To Upgrade
Aug 15, 2015Got this message "CPU isn't supported" when they tried to upgrade to W10. We tried the Media Creation Tool and it came back with "You can't install Windows 10 because your processor doesn't support CompareExchange128". So where do i send her from here ??

Jul 30, 2015A friend of mine upgraded to W10 this afternoon after being on W7 Ultimate. Everything seemed okay until he went to change his monitor resolution. It isn't listed under the resolution settings in the control panel. His monitor's native is 1366x768, but even when selecting 1360x768, it says that his input is not supported.
This is strange considering it worked just fine when on Windows 7. My only thought is that his GPU is quite old - It's a ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series, and the monitor is an Acer X193HQ. He doesn't know an awful lot about hardware, but I believe he's using a DVI cable from the PO.

Oct 7, 2015I have a PC running Windows 7 Pro. I ran the 'Get Windows 10' app and it reported that it was not possible to upgrade because my graphics card (Geforce 7300LE) was not supported. I bought a new graphics card (Geforce GT610) and re-ran the app.
Despite the removal and replacement of the old card, the app still says I can't upgrade because the old card is unsupported. It appears that it hasn't detected the change. Is there any way to make the app 'forget' the original card? As far as I can see in device manager the driver for the old card has gone so what is the app looking at?

Aug 3, 2015I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday, and at first, everything was fine, but when I play league of legends, randomly, my computer just says "input not supported" or "no signal" or sometimes nothing at all, and then shuts down. This never happened before I upgraded to Windows 10. I went back to Windows 8.1, but it still shuts down in the middle of league games. Again, never happened before going to Windows 10. Is it my GPU? or CPU? or PSU?

Ethernet Does Not Have A Valid IP Configuration
Aug 4, 2015I'm facing an weird problem in Windows 10. I've upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. If I restart my PC then it shows my network connectivity is limited for both wired and wireless. After troubleshooting it says 'Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration'.But if I shut down my PC and then start it again then there is not any issue in network.I was using a legit copy of Windows 8.1.

Jan 18, 2016I am running Windows 10 demo version. I have problems connecting to the net. I am shown the error along the lines of "Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration".
From command prompt I run "ipconfig/all" and here is the console's output:
When I run "ipconfig/renew" it fell through : I should add, I have no problems on Windows Vista however.

Aug 8, 2015I have upgraded from Win8.1... It seems all is workin +10, but just a few days ago I see this thing. I set the screensaver to 10 minutes delay, I choosse the 3D animation and bingo . nice like in y old Win 8.1. The problem is simple. When I shutoff my pc and start again the screensaver settings change again to 1 minute( default) and no 3D sacreensavere any more !! I must set again to X minutes, select the animation , apply and save and this over and over . Never problems before with my Win 8.1. I use the same hardware and apps. Everything is the same on my PC than before.

Aug 11, 2015There appears to be no way of configuring a taskbar clock on my Windows 10 desktop - I have tried every visible menu option.. The taskbar properties menu provides no option for a clock although I have seen Windows 10 displays that show a clock (and calendar).
Note: My original Windows 7 system, before the upgrade, had the taskbar clock disabled as I already had a clock gadget on display - could this be the reason?
Windows 7 On SSD And Files On HDD - Upgrading With This Configuration
Feb 17, 2016As the title states I have an SSD and HDD setup, now I have set the Windows Documents, Pictures and Music folders ect and the app data on the HDD as you would.
And some programs are on the SSD and others on the HHD.
Will upgrading to windows 10 mess with this or will it just upgrade without putting random bits of it on my HDD.
Why Does System Configuration Stick With Selective Startup
Aug 8, 2015My Windows 10 home-64b works flawlessly, but I've realized that the system configuration stubbornly continues to initiate under "Selective Startup" instead of "Normal Startup" which makes me wonder which "services" cannot be loaded. I've tried to change it but it continues to be the same "selective Startup". This makes me uncomfortable cause possible future problems.

Bit late now as I have easybcd on W7 drive. Before you ask I have never had a successful install where W10 finds W7 and displays that fancy box on start up.

Aug 24, 2015So... I just updated from win 7 to win 10, as I got it for free. All went smoothly, but there was no ethernet connection. I'm running a custom built pc, connected to my router via ethernet cable.
At first windows detected the cable, but said: ''Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration." I was on about around the settings, and deleted the ethernet network from windows' settings. I thought it would come back by just re-plugging the cable. This didn't happen. What happened was, that the whole 'Ethernet' tab disappeared from the 'Network & internet' menu!
I also don't have 'Wi-fi' or 'Airplane mode' tabs in the menu... Well I have a pc that doesn't have support for wifi so that might be why...
how to get win 10 to detect the ethernet cable, and maybe that way bring back the 'ethernet' tab?
Oh, and I tested the ethernet cable on my laptop (running win 7), and it worked fine.
