So apparently I need to update my chipset drivers because USBPORT.sys is causing DCP latency. How do I do this? Also is it risky like changing a bios? Will I need to backup/ reinstall?

Drivers/Hardware :: Motherboard Power Still On After Upgrade

Aug 16, 2015

I have a strange issue where after a full shut down in Windows 10, the motherboard is still delivering power to my connected devices such as my headset, keyboard, mouse and monitors i.e. all the lights on these devices are still on, whereas previously in Win7 they would all turn off.

I did an in-place upgrade from Win7-Win10 and adjusted no motherboard BIOS settings.

I've looked through the Win10 power options and can;t see anything relating to keeping devices on after a shut down. I assume this is so USB devices like phones and tablets can charge from USB when the PC is off? However I don;t need this feature if that's the intention.

Is windows 10 (vs win7) sending a different command back to the MB on a shutdown?

Hardware:
MB: Asrock P67 Extreme 6
CPU: Intel 2600k

Drivers/Hardware :: Cannot Find Partition

Nov 1, 2015

I recently installed Windows 10 on my Samsung Series 7 Chronos (NP700Z5A-A01DX). The HDD is a Hitachi HTS547575A9E384 which I originally thought was a hybrid HDD with 8gb ssd partition, but I'm not 100% sure.Anyway, with Windows 7 the computer came back from sleep in 1 or 2 seconds, now it's much slower. I've followed all the instruction online for reinstalling ExpressCache etc. but I get the error message "SSD not fund, please create a partition manually".Running DISKPART, List Disk I only have a one disk showing. (750gb, Drive 0)

Drivers/Hardware :: How To Find Out What Other Devices Are

Sep 13, 2015

I gave up on trying to do a clean install, so I just deleted every single program in control panel.

All of my drivers were either automatically updated or I was able to update them myself.

These three are listed as unknown. The drivers won't update.

I ran the Intel Driver Update Utility, and it said no drivers found.

I checked the Asus driver page, and the driver list barely had anything at all.

Pretty sure these are named something like thermal, collaborative, and something else.

Drivers/Hardware :: Can't Find Target Drive

Oct 10, 2015

I hardly ever use it, so hadn't noticed until today that my DVD drive has disappeared from Device Manager (no DVD-CD ROMs appear there at all) and I cannot use CDs/DVDs in my PC. I strongly suspect Windows 10 as the culprit. I upgraded from W7 early August. However, I can't seem to find any way to download / install the necessary driver.

I have a custom built PC. What I'm missing is: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS40 ATA Device (CD-ROM drive). It appears that this is an LG product. I've checked their website and there only seem to be drivers for (up to) W7 here. If I download the zip file and open it, I get a DriveUpdater dialog box, but it says "can't find target drive" and I cannot therefore update. This link looked promising, but the downloaded DriverToolkitInstaller.exe application triggers my AVG, saying threat detected and removed, and I cannot proceed.

Drivers/Hardware :: PC Will Not Find USB Powered External HDD

Sep 30, 2015

I recently bought a new PC with win 10 on board. I now find that I want to retrieve some data from my old PC which is unserviceable.

I purchased a 22 pin sata to usb cable. When plugged in I find the Device manager will not find this new drive. The led's on the cable light up but the drive is not running.

The old HDD is a 3.5" unit which ran on win 7. the old drive is a Samsung HD502HJ/b (part No.) and is in working condition.

I am wondering if it requires a driver of its own? Or something a more diverse problem like a usb 2.0 or 3.0 conflict, maybe.

Drivers/Hardware :: Failed To Find Audio Device - Doesn't Recognize Sound Card?

Aug 19, 2015

My laptop does not want to recognise the sound card/audio driver that are built into it. The fun part is this just happened. Audio played yesterday, and the time before that, and even before the upgrade. The only thing that has changed (or at least is the biggest change i can think of) is downloading and installing Cygwin (sans audio packages). In trying to play a song on the new microsoft Groove, i get this;

Further inspection in the playback devices, the only two options are the Speakers/Headphones and communications Headphones, the former of which i can only assume is my actual computer speakers (otherwise its completely gone!).Looking at the device manager, everything seems okay. All the drivers are up to date so im not sure what could be wrong there?

Its Windows 10 pro (upgraded from Win7 Pro) and the computer is a Dell Precision M4600. (I am pretty sure the audio driver is in the device manager image).

Does Upgrade Bind To The Motherboard

Aug 9, 2015

I'm just wondering, once i upgrade my OS to windows 10, does that upgrade bind to my current motherboard and will only work with the motherboard it has been upgraded on only. I am asking this cause i am planning to upgrade these days, but i also have plans to upgrade my cpu during the next year which will ultimately require a new motherboard. So i just want to know if i can upgrade without worrying that once i change my motherboard that the OS will become invalid and that i will need a new one.

OS Deactivated After Changing Motherboard?

Jan 10, 2016

So after some recent hardware problems I had to replace my mother board. I bought a different model than the one I had previously. I had previously installed a copy of Windows 7 and had it activated by a man on Craigslist who I assume had a membership or something because the key was legit. I later upgraded to Windows 10.

Now my computer is fixed and Windows 10 is installed but it will not activated because the OS considers this motherboard a "new device."Also, I do NOT have a key for any version of Windows and I would really rather not spend 100 dollars buying another copy.

Slow Performance After Changing Motherboard And RAM?

I went from a MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 motherboard to a MSI A55M-E35 one and from Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 to Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1 x 8 GB) BLS8G3D1609DS1S00. I don't believe there should have been much of a performance change because of the hardware so I'm thinking I probably did something wrong.

I can use the computer for 10 to 20 mins and then it powers itself down resets and comes up with a message saying the settings have failed, if I re load the profile and reboot the comp will work until I turn it off for the night and then the same problem following day.

The bundle worked fine since I purchased it at the beginning of the year and is oc through bios by overclockers uk so I thought it didn't make any difference what os I used....

GPU Will Only Display To TV When Another Monitor Is Also Connected To Motherboard?

Aug 9, 2015

For the last 2 months since I got my new PC, I have been using my TV as a monitor for my PC. I had a few issues with resolution due to my TV overscanning the display but I used the resize feature in the NVidia control panel. However, yesterday when I downloaded Windows 10, it installed fine but when my computer opened up again it was trying to use my TV's native resolution which was a problem because of the overscanning. So I went to the NVidia control panel, and when I clicked the resize button (before choosing the new resolution) the TV just said it was receiving no input. Whenever I then tried booting my PC, it would display to my TV until Windows had loaded, then it would say no input.

The same thing happened when I connected to the TV through my motherboard rather than my GPU. So I spent ages trying to get it to work and eventually connected it to an old monitor. However the monitor only has a DVI input slot, which my GPU doesn't have, so I had to connect it through my motherboard and it worked fine. I then uninstalled all NVidia stuff from my computer, including the gpu from my device manager, and manually installed the new GTX 970 windows 10 driver from their website.

When this was done, I connected my graphics card to the tv through the HDMI, keeping the computer connected to the monitor through the motherboard. Both displays then worked as a dual display setup. However, even now whenever I try booting up my PC with only my gpu connected to the TV the same thing happens that was happening before and the TV will only display through the GPU when the motherboard is also connected to the monitor. I have ordered a DVI to HDMI cable so I can attach my monitor directly to the GPU, which will hopefully work, and then I will stop using my TV, but I would rather fix this problem and carry on using the TV until I can buy a better monitor.
