I have two menu form elements that need to refelect a parent child relationship. There are 85 zones and 2200 zone-network combinations.
I want to bind the networkid element to an xml datasource that contains only the networks related to that zone. I have read about something like this before but have never implemented it.
I have one asp file including another asp file in a seperate folder. The file of the parent is in a read only, but the child is in a write and read file. If i run the child alone you can write with it no problems, but if i try to write with it calling it through the parent it tells me that permission are denied.
So my question is: are file permissions inhereted by the child from the parent? Is there any way of getting around this besides moving the parent into the same folder as the child?
i have 2 asp pages. the parent and the child. the parent has has a value doc_id which is null. and a button to open the child window. it has other variables and input fields.
the child window creates the doc_id.
Now heres the problem. I want to close the child window, and send the doc_id(created in the child) to the doc_id(in the parent). and close the child window.
But keep the original variables in the parent id. (e.g if the user entered their name in the parent window, then opened the child window, then created the doc_id, then closed the child window, i want to parent to have the user name, and the new doc_id)
I am trying to redirect back to a child form after a submit with a file upload and verification of file data. I would like to go back to the form and display a message returning the status of the data. Is that possible? Any suggestions on an alternate? I am using classic ASP, javascript and vbscript.
When a user clicks in the text box, by using the onclick event, i am opening a popupwindow with a list box. Now when the user selects a value in this list box, i want to pass that value to the parent window and populate the parent textbox.
I have two dropdown boxes, one is a state dropdown (statedrpdwn) and the other is a city dropdown (citydrpdwn). I want the values in the citydrpdwn to be dependent on what is selected in the statedrpdwn.
So when the user selects a state, I want the city drpdwn to only display the cities in that state. How can I do that? I also need to save this information to a database and retrieve it back correctly from the database. How can I do that?
I have a cross-reference table already set up that contains the information about programs that run in our database. It contains the program name, the tables used as inputs and the tables used as outputs. There is a row for each input to a program and a row for each output from a program. Code:
(I include a bmp file to make sure u all understand what my problem is)..as U all can see from the bmp I supply with this message.. I got 2 Table which is Master and Child table...the problem is I kindda want to make it like a Parent Child Relationship like In ms Access.
I have an asp page (parent) which opens a new window (child) with "window.open()". What i want is, when the child window is closed with "self.close()" then the parent window has to be refreshed. Any of you guys know how to do this?
But as i carry some data from previous previous page, when i use (window.opener.location = window.opener.location), it can't capture my data as it just load the page. It will pop up error as no data captured :
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d' Type mismatch: '[string: ""]'
i have a form that pops up based on a click. the popup opens up correctly. now what i want it to do is this.
1. submit the data to an asp page. that part i got working 2. close the popup box. have that working as well. 3. after processing the data on the asp page, direct to and refresh the parent page that the popup was created from.
to be more specific....
i have a bracket page, where you click on the winners name to move them over. works fine. that sends variables to a pop up box, where you enter a score. that works fine. now when i submit, it only sneds the data to the asp page, and even though the bottom of the asp page redirects it to the parent page, it doesn't. it seems like it is trying to redirect to the popup that doesn't exist anymore, so it does nothing.
I currently have a page with car manufacturers in a dynamic form menu. Users can select one and click submit to find available cars by that manufacturer. What i now need is a second menu on the page where when a manufacturer is selected, the models associated with that manufacturer display for a user to choose. For example if Ford is selected:
Menu One Menu Two ------------------ ----------------- Ford Focus Fiesta Ka....
Can i do this with ASP to say "if menu one is ford, menu two contains...."? Or is there a much easier way which i am somehow missing?
I have a screen, screenA, from which I call another screen, screenB, with a form on it. ScreenA has an ID that is captured in a variable called strShortName. (That variable is defined in another file called into ScreenA via an include.) I want to write that name as the value in a hidden field in the form on screenB. How can I do that?
i have a simple form with about 20 dropdowns. if the user preferes they can go through each dropdown with the question in a pop up window.
In this popup window they enter each question one at a time, once they enter an answer and submit the page reloads and stores the answer in the database and goes to the next question. At the same time the popup window forces a refresh on the main form so that the value selected in the popup is now seen on the main form as they go through each question.
My problem is that when the main for refreshes with new values to be selected FF does not change the value on the drop down. but when i go to the source the correct value is selected. I do not have this problem in IE everything works as it should be.
i have a drop-down menu with a list of products.when i select any one product i open a popup displaying hte product categories in it.i then enter the no. of items i want.and finally when i click to the submit button i want to display a summary of selected item in the parent form.to make it more elaborate:
i have 3 items in a drop-down menu and each item has further 10 different types of products.
something like u have an item soap. and then 10 different brands of soap.so all my products are in the drop down menu in the parent form. item 1 item 2 item 3 item 4
when i select item 1 i get a popup menu which has say 20 types of item1 from the database.i generate textboxes beside each label so that user can enter his quantity. Code:
I have the code below which displays a popup where the user will enter a username and password. When they click the Submit button it should redirect to the Parent Element who then sends it to the ASP Page for processing.
I have the following bits of code but when I dump the ASP Page results the Parent is not sending the info from the child element: Popup Code:
Im putting my website together, and I have made some simple text buttons that are aligned across the top of my page from left to right.Anyway, I have with this navigation a need to have more navigation options, which I hope to gain by having sub-menus appear when you roll over the button.
What I mean is how do I or can someone point me to a tutorial that will allow me to have a dynamic drop down menu generated via asp with data from a access databse that will allow the user to navigate to that sub menu content.
Hope you can help with a small problem I am having. I have a very simple table displayed on a page -
ID Name 1 x 2 y 3 z
and what I am trying to do is this - Roll over the ID number and display a pop up menu (which has more links to run other ASP scripts) and pass the ID number from the original page, though the pop-up menu and into the final ASP script (as selected on the popup menu) as a parameter for an SQL query.
I am trying to port PRAX (PHP Record-oriented API for XML) to ASP and have run into a problem. With Microsoft's XML Parser, to get child nodes, the only way I have seen is by calling on obj.childNodes(1). I need to get a child node by name, not by number, since it could be in any order. Is there a way?
If not, I will have to write that part of the code differently by using an array. I don't want to do this because it would make the code more memory intensive and not as powerful as the PRAX implementation.
I have a submit button which opens a child window, and submit parent window to itself and then begins some processing on parent window. On completion there appears close button on parent page.
Can anybody suggest me how to close the child window on the click of close button on parent window and then redirect to other page?
I want to have a drop down menu, that when you select an option, loads data from the database into another drop down menu. So that's one part I don't know how to do. There will be a total of three options from the first dropdown, which represent different tables in the same database. So that's the other problem, how to load, depending on the table selected, into the drop down menu.
I am trying to figure out how to pass one selectedIndex value to another select menu on a subsequent page without opening the page in a new window. I know how to pass information from one text field to another using Request.form or a Session, but I am not certain how this works with select menus. I have seen other examples that require you to open a new window, but again I would prefer not to do this.
I have two different select menus. This appears on the first asp page.
The next page has the exact same select menus as above and I would like it to populate the same value the user chooses from the first form page. I should state that the first select menu does redirect the user to different pages, however it should not matter because the above options for the select menus are consistent on all the pages the user is redirected to. I'm assuming the answer to my query will consist of utilizing ASP and JavaScript, however if not, I'm still game.
I am trying to write a function on a navigation page so I can just include the nav page on my other asp pages this way I only need to edit one file when I need to update the navigation system.
The problem I have is that if I try and do this with the response write statement how I can't use " inside the strings i.e
How do I store " inside a variable called say SP so I can do this?
Response Write "<form name="&SP&"form1"&SP>"
I am am guessing there must be a way you can store an asci value into a variable. But what is the command for this and what is the ascii code for "?
Finally is there I way I can write a drop down menu purely in ASP so I can avoid putting the HTML code inside strings?
The reason I have to have it the ASP code is simply I want to call the function that outputs the drop down menu in other pages, if I did not do a function it would not work as it would output the drop down menu at the top of the or whereever the include statement is.
I have a simple data entry form that has text boxes and some drop-down menus per row. My problem is the performance of the page.
I give the user the option of displaying 25, 50 or 100 rows at a time. Each row has 12 text boxes and 4 drop-down menus. The OPTIONS for the drop-down menus are being populated with data from our MS SQL database.
I'm using VIEWS to get the data and place them in recordsets, but how can I increase performance. It's taking way too long for the page to load and if the user clicks submits.. that takes a long time too.
I have an asp form that submits information to a database. On this form, I have a drop down box with about 15 options, each with thier own value. The selection is down a bit in the form, after user fills out certain information.
On the same form, I have a hidden value stated for "assigned_to" field. Most of the options in my drop down menu need an "assigned_to" value=35 and one option needs an "assigned_to" value=40 . How can I do this?
How do I make a dependant drop box? For example, when a user selects Item5 on the first drop menu the second one populates with the options for Item5? I know it will probably use Java of some sort but I do not know the code.
I am trying to update and append to an existing XML file. However I seem to be stuck. I am using ASP as my scripting language.
The form fields has the same value as the KEY attribute so all i have to do is loop through the submiting form for its fields and use the name to update the XML via the keys... Code:
i'm trying to create a dependent dropdown menu based on two objects, packages and steps (the steps dropdown will be dynamically updated/populated when a package is selected). the site uses ASP and since ASP is server-side, i am using JavaScript to handle the client-side "dynamic" change.
i've found several snippets of code that create the dependent dropdown; however, the two examples i have use arrays which are statically defined. the data that will populate the dropdowns is coming from a SQL database, and that data will be updated/changed fairly often. my question is this: is there any way to generate the arrays using ASP (outside javascript tags) and use them in the javascript?
or is there a way to use javascript to generate the correct arrays and fill them with data from my SQL tables? can i use a recordset ojbect in javascript? i have heard that you may use PHP inside javascript tags, but i'm unsure if that is what i want to do.. especially since i am using ASP as the main language for this site. Code:
