Dec 19, 2007hello eveyone..i have just downloaded and installed the visaul web developer 2005 express edition and sqlserver 2005 express edition.On top of that i even downloaded and installed the northwind database.But my problem is when i am connecting to the northwind database by clicking toos menu>connect to the database>choose datasource>new connection>..i have provided it with the required information..but as soon as i press "Test Connection" button the following error box displays.. "an error has occured while establishing a connection to the server.when connecting to the sql server2005,this failure may be caused by the fact that under default settings sql server doestnot allow remote connections.(provider:Named piped providers,error:40-couldnot open a connection to sqlserver.)" i have no idea whats is all about..can anyone get me pass this error..

I am trying to get SQL Express 2005 installed, I have tried this on two PC's within the Domain. Both get the same error. I am the Admin, MCSE since 1999, but I DO NOT know much about SQL. Have search Google for two days, renamed DLL's, installed localy, copied off the CD, update .net, windows updates.... The PC will load SQL 2005 (full version) and 2000, but the app doesnt seem to want anything but the Express version... any ideas would help...

Feb 11, 2008I watched and followed the Intro to VB 2008 Express, but in the final part of the video, when you add a database, i did everything as the video says, still i get:
An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Unable to load DLL 'sqlceme35.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
Ive tried the fix stated in another forum, the one about changing the "Target CPU" but the option doesn appear, what does appear its the "Platfrom" dropdown list, but its fixed to "Any CPU" and dont have any more options.
Ive also downloaded Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 ENU and "re-installed" and selected repair, followed the steps, rebooted and still nothing.
The problem persists, any ideas, please?

I have a problem when I try to create a new connection with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition from Visual Studio 2005 IDE. When I€™m going to choose the data source, the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition provider doesn€™t appear in the list. I installed the SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition from this page http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=%2085E0C3CE-3FA1-453A-8CE9-AF6CA20946C3&displaylang=en. In the additional information says by installing SQLServerCE31-EN.msi installs the provider (System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll) in the GAC (global assembly cache) and registers the OLEDB provider (sqlceoledb30.dll). So, I don€™t understand why couldn€™t I create a new connection with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition from Visual Studio 2005 IDE?

I've installed Visual Basic 2005 express edition & tried to connect to SQL Server 2005 express edition. I noticed that VB2005 Express Edition doesn't have any OLEDB provider for SQL Server. The only OLEDB Provider is for M.Access. Is this correct? if so, what should i do if i want to connect SQL Server 2005 express edition with VB2005 express edition by using OLEDB connection type?

Issues With Microsoft SQL Serever 2005 Express Edition And Other Versions Of SQL Express
Feb 20, 2007I have uninstalled the SQL Server Express Edition that I have installed from the CDs that were given to me during a Chicago Conference when READY TO LAUNCH Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER 2005, and Biz Talk 2005.
Then I went to microsoft website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/register/default.aspx and downloaded and installed the so called Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I got the messages Error that you read below. Then I Uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and went again to msdn website and downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Advanced Services SP1 and installed it. I got again the same message as below.
MESSAGE:
1. First comes a window with the title: €œsetup.exe €“ Unable to Locate Component€?
And it displays a message:
This application has failed to start because MSTDCPRX.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
2. After I click the OK button of this window it comes another window with the title: €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Server Setup€?
And it displays a message: Failed to load SqlSpars.dll
Does anybody can tell what is going on with the 3 times I tried to installed different SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I get the same message?????

Trouble Installing Reporting Add-In For Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express

I've downloaded & installed Visual Web developer Express and SQL Server Express and now I'm trying to install the Reporting Add-In available here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/downloads/default.aspx
It downloads just fine and, just as the installation progress bar is almost done and the status text says 'Registering Product', I get the following error message:
"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personell or package vendor"
Running VWD shows the ReportViewer control now appears in the 'data' group. I can add it to a form, but I cannot create a new report, as clicking on 'Design a new report' under the ReportView Tasks popup menu does nothing.
Any ideas, please?

I have created a database using VB Express 2005 express edition and I have created number of tables and SP's etc.
I am trying to use the database diagram tool but I get an error stating that the database doesn't have a valid dbo. I say yes to the prompt about making myself a valid dbo but I then get a message stating that I do not have permissions to imprersonate the dbo.
How do I overocome this issue?

Mar 11, 2008I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I have also downloaded the Sql Server Express toolkit from the Microsoft site in order to get access to the server's Reporting Services. The toolkit, according to Microsoft, should have included a cut-down version of the Business Intelligence Development Studio. The problem is that after downloding and installing I cant find Business Intelligence development Studio. The shortcut in the start menu brings me to Visual Studio 2005 and not to Business Intelligence Development Studio. Am I missing something?

Sep 29, 2006I had SQL Server Express Edition installed. I then uninstalled both it and Visual C#. I then installed SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition and reinstalled Visual C# -- both on the same machine. I can connect to SQL Server 2005 using SQL Server Management Studio. However, Visual C# is a different story. When I try to add a new Data Connection, it defaults the data source to .SQLEXPRESS, which is no longer on my machine. I can select .MSSQLSERVER, but when I click on either OK or Test Connection, I time out with an error message -- error 25 - Connection string is not valid. Cannot Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition X86
Mar 10, 2006I recently (yesterday) installed a fresh copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 applied.
I proceeded with Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions installation straight away.
But I cannot install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86.
I choose to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86 component along with every component of visual studio but it simply would not install.
In the end, after the installation of each complete is complete, I simply get an error message saying that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86 failed to install.
What is the problem?

Mar 3, 2006We are new to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. We are going to develope a solution for one of our client and we have to decide on which database to use for the solution. Client wanted to have a low cost solution. Thus we were not in a position to push them for SQL Sever 2000.
In the process, we also thought of having MySQL as one of the option. Another option we have is to use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.
We wanted to know if SQL Server 2005 Express Edition can be used with Visual Studion 2003 (Ver 1.1) or it can only be used with Visual Studio 2005 (Ver 2.0)?

I'm a complete novice concerning SQL Server (Express Edition)
I'm trying to Add or Delete rows froma VB 2005 Express Function or Sub. While the program is running everything is ok. Except when restarted added records are gone and deleted records are back.
Have i missed an option during installation?

?Is it possible for my machine to have TWO DIFFERENT MS SQL Server Express installations? Is the problem real or some small ghost issue?
I do have a trial CD from Microsoft .. Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite.

SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 Upgrade Via Microsoft Update Fails

If I search for updates with Microsoft or Windows Update it notifies me to upgrade SQL Server Express to SP2. After the download the installation fails. The reason seems to be that Microsoft Update downloads SP2 with the wrong language:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup Error Message
Mar 5, 2008I was in the process of installing Microsof Project 2003 when we suddenly decided to move up to Microsoft Project 2007. We removed SharePoint 3.0 and SQL Server 2K so all that is installed on the box is Windows Server 2003 with all Service Packs. During the install of SQL Server 2005, here is the error message we get.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot alter the login €˜sa€™, because it does not exist or you do not have permission.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information.

Jul 17, 2007I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit installed but there is something from with the installation since every time that I try and create a Report Server Project It gives me error
Could not load file or assembly "Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer, Version 9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannopt find the file spesified.
How can I reinstall it or repair the installation so it will work. I have uninstalled every SQL2000 component in Add Remove Programs and reinstalled them. The problem is however that I cannot see an entry for "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit" in the Add Remove programs in Windows XP Profesional.
Can someone please help me. Maybe tell me where the uninstall file is located on disk??
