Error Number 1612

May 17, 2006

I'm doing a reinstall of SQL 2005 Standard Edition but I get this cryptic error message in the installation log file when it tries to install Integration Services or Notification Services. How do I resolve this? I've spent countless hours un-installing and re-installing the product.

Error 1612 - Can't Get Express Installed

Jan 26, 2007

I have done all I can to resolve this on my own and would really appreciate any help anyone can give me. I have run uninstall utilities, followed a few MSDN reinstall methods, but all roads lead back to this vicious cycle:

The install hangs trying to install the prereq Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup Support Files with Error 1612. So I try to uninstall the Support files using Add/Remove..but the Windows Installer looks for "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client" disk, which of course I don't have because I install from downloads from Microsoft.

That's the very short version. I've got a ton of hours reading help groups, MSDN, trying everything.

I have posted the error log file below. Thanks in advance.

Odd @@error Number

Oct 13, 2005

I have a few stored procedures that returns @@error. If I understand correctly, @@error should be set to 0 if there is no error. However, my procedures are returning 1 and 2 yet working just fine as far as I can tell. There is not exception popping up in SQL Profiler either. What does this mean, and is it something I should be concerned about?

What Is Error Number 100001 Used For?

Feb 3, 2006

Hello,

I am using SQL server 2000 and am fairly new. What does the error number 100001 mean? Is it for a user role or a group that receives an error message via e-mail?

Also, when creating temp tables, is it a good idea to create a clustered primary key at the time of creation or by an alter like so?

CREATE TABLE #New
(
securityId integer NOT NULL
, source integer NOT NULL
, dataDate integer NOT NULL
, currency integer NULL
, MarketCapMM float(53) NULL
, ImpliedMarketCapMM float(53) NULL
, hasOverride bit NOT NULL
, derivedPrimarilyFromSource integer NULL
, QCColumnFlags char(100) NULL
)
ALTER TABLE #New ADD PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED( securityId, source )

Thanks in advance!

SQL Error Number Is 5110

Oct 12, 2006

Background: Im creating an ASP .Net app in VS2005. Local machine has SQL express installed and server has developer edition of SQL 2005.

When it tries to create the database file on a UNC share it comes up with an error "The file "\serverVisual Studio ProjectsWebsitesPWSDeleteApp_DataPersonal.mdf" is on a network path that is not supported for database files.
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file \serverVisual Studio ProjectsWebsitesPWSDeleteApp_DataPersonal.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share." to you guys the error message

"The SQL error number is 5110 and the SqlException message is....."

may mean more in resolving this issue. I read up on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304261/ although i understand the risks etc i still dont know how to configure the server to allow remote database files to be created. My guess is to create a "Trace" but not sure where to start and how to ensure im doing this correctly. Can anyone please advise?

Thanks in advance

ADO Error: An Insufficient Number Of Arguments....

Nov 5, 2007

Im currently using Access 2000 which is connected to a SQL database. I have a query (Or View) that runs every month. The problem i had was i had to manually make some changes every month to get to the data i needed so i changed this View into a Function with a parameter so i can input the detail(s) i need and it will run correctly - this works so far but the original View was also used within other queries that were created. Now the problem i have now is some of the other views that are now connected with the newly created Function comes up with the error:

ADO error: an insufficient number of arguments were supplied for the procedure or function Name_Of_Function.

I called the newly created function the exact name as the original view to ensure i had no problems. Any idea of whats happening here and how to resolve?

Thanks

Error: Exceeded Maximum Number Of Bytes Per Row

Jan 23, 2008

Hello, I received an error while attempting to create a table similar to the following...

CREATE TABLE ExampleTable (
[FIELD_0] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[FIELD_1] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_2] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_3] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_4] [datetime] NULL,
[FIELD_5] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_6] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_7] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_8] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_9] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_10] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_11] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_12] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_13] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_14] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_15] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_16] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_17] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_18] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_19] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_20] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_21] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_22] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_23] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_24] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_25] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_26] [nvarchar](255) NULL,
[FIELD_27] [nvarchar](255) NULL
)

First of all, field names have been changed to protect the innocent. Second, I did *not* create this table...I'm troubleshooting issues with a previously created table. I've no idea why almost every field needs to be an NVARCHAR data type of that size. Finally, as you can probably guess, I'm getting this error on a SQL Server 2000 database. (Yeah, it's past time we upgraded to SQL Server 2005 at least...explain that to management, please. I suggest you speak slowly and use small words.)

Anyhow, the error is "Warning: The table 'ExampleTable' has been created but its maximum row size (13348) exceeds the maximum number of bytes per row (8060). INSERT or UPDATE of a row in this table will fail if the resulting row length exceeds 8060 bytes."

Am I misunderstanding how the row size is calculated? How is SQL Server getting 13,348 bytes from the above statement?

Any and all constructive suggestions/ideas are much appreciated! Thanks!

What is best practise for what this number should be?

I have seen guidance saying set to a number greater than 25000, but not from any source I particularly know or trust. (I checked SANS, NIST-CIS and the NSA, but I couldn't find anything.

Restore Gives 'invalid Logical Page Number' Error

Jun 24, 1999

We tried to restore an empty database from a backup and got:
'Load database encountered an invalid logical page number' error.
This then set the database as 'loading'

Anyone got any ideas?

We aren't exactly sure how big the first database was when the backup was done but if the new database isn't big enough to contain the backed up data, wouldn't we get a more meaningful error?
