ASP Script Inserting To SQL Table With Image Column Type
Would someone be able to explain the sql image field to me. I was reading about it a little but dont really understand.
I would like to have word documents that can be indexed and searched and i heard the image field with an accompanying char field with the file extension would be the trick. how would i actually get binary files into the image field?
I wanted to write an asp script so users could enter .doc that they could query. I understand basic asp sql inserts.
I've changed my Webserver from Win2k to Win2k3. The MySQL-Server 4.0.20 is on a separate machine and i've made no changes there.
When i read a time from a colum which column-type time with Win2k, i get the correct time. But when i try the same with Win2k3 i get only a date. Why? I connect to the MySQL-Server with ADODB.Connection.
i want to extract out certain column from my table . can i do it using the checkbox . eg. when i got ten check box then when i select 4 of it . the selected 4 column will appear in my next page . can i do it this way ? or is there any other easier way ?
I have this form in which the user insert his details, and chose which detail to add and which not and he can add a new field by his own which doesn't exist before. So this new field is a new column, so I just want to know how to add this column into an existing table.
I have the following code but this is inserting manually. I want to make a query from table 1 and automatically enter the records into table 2. What needs to be modified? Code:
I have a 3 page set that searches a database for users, displays the user information in a form and updates the data in the database. The first 2 pages work fine, the third page doesn't. What is annoying is that these pages are a copy of another set of pages that edit news articles (basically the same thing) and they work perfectly.
This is ASP with SQL and VB Script.

I'm having problems inserting into a table in an oracle database. I am reading in variables from a ASP form and trying to enter these into the database. however only numbers will insert, even though I can print out the string variables on the ASP page. IF I inclose a string value in the insert statement it works ok so there is nothing wrong with my SQL code. Code:
I am right now calculating distance between 2 zip codes and storing them in a table along with extra information like a persons name and address and stuff like that.
For some reason for distance "0" ..doesnt get inserted in my table..? What do i need to do in my code so that "0" distance + information gets in the table since i need that info to be displayed later for people to make calls to those people with 0 distances.
my database is access and i'm trying to insert data from a form into the table's fields in the same order they are written in the form without explicitly having to mention the fields' names.
e.g. (this is the prototype of what i want to do)
for x=1 to request.form.count()-1 insert into table1(fields(x)) values (request.form.item(x)) execute the sql next
does anyone have an idea of the right syntax for this?
I'm trying to insert a table to format a list of options on a dynamic page using VBscript. The page currently displays the links in a list when the user chooses one from the drop down menu. I would like the links to be in three columns, rather than the default vertical list.
i have really only been exposed to getting data from aSQL database and displaying it.I want to include a page in my application (like a form in Access i guess)with various text boxes and drop-downs + tick boxes. Then i want to click a submit button that inserts the data (providing is valid) into a SQL Server table.
I have had a search in google but nothing seems to explain this in its most basic terms (errorchecking and inserting).Could anyone give me an example of this or some background about this functionality.
I'm trying to insert into a table with foreign keys. The statement works in query analyzer but not when I do it in asp to insert the data from a form. Code:

if it is possible to insert and update records in a database from the data that is in an HTML table? I have a program that converts data to an HTML table and would like to be able to insert/update records to the database on the webserver.
I have an .asp page that contains a drop down menu, that when a selection is made, reformats the page to one of 22 different .asp pages. When clicked, the drop-down disappears and the options from it are formatted as a list on the left hand side of the page.
I need to format this so the list is in 3 columns, with the secection bold. I think I need about 4 if..then statements, but I've never done this before...here's the specific code, the code for the drop-down is first, then the code for the "quick link" list: Code:
I am working on a asp and sql website that I did not make. It runs an asp based content management system, where users can enter news articles. They enter the "body" into a text box/area and can add images separatly. The image will show up to the to left of the article.
This goes into a SQL database, and gets pulled out by asp for the webpage. I want to make it so a user can add in an image into the body of the article ( like in a word document ) and have it show up where they put it. What is the easiest way to do this. Both easy on me and the user.
I am struggling to store an image path to a mysql database and in the process copy the image from one folder to the folder I would like it to be copied to.
My code for the inserting the image path and data into the mysql db is below: ....
My ASP app dynamically retrieves from db and sends JPG images using Response.BinaryWrite(). And it seems work. The script sets image type as "Response.ContentType = 'image/JPEG';"
But viewing image properties in IE returns Type and Size as 'Not available'.
I am trying to find a way to save/copy ASP/HTML generated tables on a webpage as images. In other words, I want users to right click on a table and save it just like the way they would save an image.
Is there any way of programming this behavior without having the user ro download any software like ActiveX?
I got a problem while running an application. The code for this is as follows:

I have a client who has had a ASP site with an Access database for several years. It stores information for the used cars on his lot. I have stored text in the database that points to the location of the image for each record. Each record will have a thumb image that is supposed to display in a list of vehicles available then the user can select an item from this list and a new page displays with the information and the regular size image. So far everything has worked fine exept for the display of the images which are stored in a separate directory called veh-photos. All I get are image place holders. I am using Dreamweaver 2004 and and Access 2000 for the database.
1.I want to show a image file of type '.tif' in the browser window; for that I'm writting as ASP code page.
2.This '.tif' type image can be shown better with 'Kodak Image Control'.
3.To have this 'Kodak Image Control' on my code page I just add it's ..ocx to tool box and then drag it from 'Toolbox' to the page.
4.Now after dropping this control to the code it's type is getting changed to 'object' instead of type 'ImgEdit'(and I think this is the reason I don't get correct result).
5.On one button's 'Onclick' event I'm calling a javascript function with which I'm setting a 'Path'and'Display' property of a control.
6.And want to show a image at location -- '..MFTDRCMF919685173-62.tif' which get shown in new browser window but could not get shown in that particular control. That means the path is correct, then what is the problem?
For better understanding of problem I'm pasting a following code which I've tried up till now...... .................................................. <%@ Language=VBScript %> <% OPTION EXPLICIT %>
<HTML> <HEAD> <META NAME="GENERATOR" Content="Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0">
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=javascript> <!-- function showpic() { var path; path = document.frmtif.path.value; alert(path); document.frmtif.ImgEdit1.Image =path; document.frmtif.ImgEdit1.Display; window.parent.self.open(path); }
