I have an invisible page counter. I have been successful in getting it to work. However, I'd like to build an administrative password protected web page that shows the count. I'm not sure how to do it. Here's my code for the file and path:
sPath = "D:inetpubwwwrootmywebsite.comdatabasecounter. txt"
Set filesys = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
I am redeveloping a web site and changing the way it is setup, I have a lot of DB content, which is displaying text, as information. I have a number of words which I want to replace with links, and would prefer to do this dynamically as, going through all the text would ot only take ages but if it where updated remembering the links would be a pain.
Like they do on here, when your not logged in! and on loads of other sites. Is it feasible to do a replace statement for 50+ items, or is there a better way?
I have some values I'm passing from one form to another. When I press the submit button, I want the quantity I have in the text box on form a to pass to and display in the text box on form b.
form b is on an asp page, and I'm trying to display the values in this fashion:
myquantity=request.form("quantity")
response.write "<input type =text name=mybox value=" & myquantity & ">"
However, this is not working, and I can't figure out why.
I've created a db field with Memo type, and I have stored some text with carriage returns (no html) So the 3 words start on a differnt line. In access this displays correctly ( each word starts on a new line). However when I display these on a web page all the words appear on the same line.
I need the words to be displayed on a seperate line.
I'm trying to write a web form that will allow users update info from a database table. Everything is working fine, except the display of the one text field from the database (nothing displays. Here's what I'm trying:Code:
I'm creating a record display page but one of the fields I need to display is stored as a number. Each number designates a different name (i.e. text). I know this is totally easy, but I can't figure out how to make the text displayed match the number its associated with.
I can do this easily with a drop-down menu, but I need normal text that can't be edited or anything. In other words, the field is 1, 2, 3, or 4. But it's entered by a drop-down where 1=name1, 2=name2, etc. Now I need to display those numbers in the database as the text they are supposed to be.
I require to display the content of zip file (which user is uploading) to and IIS server can any one tell me a free component which can be used in this scenario.The content i need to display is file name and path of the files in the Zip file.
I'm trying to create an XML guestbook. I'm using a form for the user to input his name, e-mail, message etc. an .asp file to update the xml file and an .htm file with javascript to display the xml file. The .asp file contains a <meta> tag to redirect the user from the .asp file to the guestbook.htm file. Following the submission of the form the script in the .asp file runs fine and updates the xml file but the problem is that when the xml file is accessed by guestbook.htm in appears to be accesing a cached version. For it to display the latest entry i need to access the xml file directly (http://....../guestbook.xml), refresh it and then return to the .htm file.
I have a folder with eight or ten files that can be displayed in a browser. I need to display the file with the latest creation date. I imagine there is some kind of ASP function that could like at the filename's date and pick the file that meets the criteria. How can I do this?
I used to have some static htm files which used to display data. There is a calling asp file which used to do something like below
if Request.QueryString("PageName").count = 0 then strPageNameHtm = "toc.htm" strPageNameInc = "toc.inc" else strPageNameHtm = Request.QueryString("PageName") & ".htm" strPageNameInc = Request.QueryString("PageName") & ".inc" end if strPageNameHtm = server.mapPath(strPageNameHtm)
strPageNameInc = server.mapPath(strPageNameInc) 'response.write(strPageNameHtm) set fs = server.createobject("scripting.fileSystemObject") set f = fs.openTextFile(strPageNameHtm) strSPDHtml = f.readall
The strSPDHTML info used to be displayed using a response.write(strSPDHTML). This allowed the static content to be loaded up.
I switched the static pages to be asp pages having the content come from a database. I would still like to maintain the controlling page logic. Can I modify the above section of code in anyways to access the asp page content
Does anyone know of a method of converting text files to sound files (.wav, mp3 etc) which can be accessed from ASP?
I have an ASP-based website that enables users to design choreography for equestrian dressage. The resulting design is held as a series of coded movements in a database and it can then be reproduced as text or as a series of diagrams. I would like to offer the option of an audio version.
I'm looking to display a page and then initiate the downloading of a file. Basically trying to display a page that says the download will begin shortly, and if it doesn't, click here. Like what you see at a number sites.
I found code to initiate the download in a previous posting ("Force Download fails when I select "Open" but works when I select "Save"", posted Jan 25, 2005). The code works fine in terms of initiating the download. The problem I've encountered is that the download begins before the page itself is displayed.
Does anyone have knowledge of converting text file to .iff file. I am working on a VB ASP application. I searched for example on internet but I didn't get anything.
If you have any idea of converting text file to .iff file (VB ASP) please share with me.
I want to read an asp file as a text file. The problem is that the file that I want it to read is located on a server. For example: I want to read te content of this file: http://www.bnro.ro/Ro/Info/default.asp . I want to look after some values in that file.
how can i write a line to a text file? also, how can i put every line of a text file into an array - and see whether a value mathes any of the lines in the array?
I have an asp page that is populated by an access db, I want to create a text file on the server based on the asp file. Then provide a link for people to download that text file. How would I do this quickly?
I've a very small form just a name and a few checkboxes.when user submits the form, we want to store the data in a CSV text file and send an email to one of us here. Has any one had done it before please give me some ideas how to do it.
I'm using ASP 3.0. I'm taking form contents and dumping it into a text file on the server. how to add the TIME to this statement. I create the text file with the name of file, month, day and year.I would like to add TIME to it.

I have a page which sends a query to an DB2 using an ODBC. The results are then written to a text file. I am unable to write directly to the users drive because of permissions.
The problem I have is that when the query set becomes too big, I get error '8007000e' Not enough storage is available to complete this operation. The query is returning 100, 000 records or more. So my question is how do I handle this? Somebody had suggested to me to chunk the data. Code:
I would like to know how I could accomplish this without using DB. There's a long text file named "TEST.TXT" The TEST file contains special character 'º' which will be used as pagebreak. I want an ASP page that will read the TEST.TXT file and split it into multiple web pages with navigation control. (eg. <FIRST<PREVIOUS> <NEXT<LAST)
My original thought was to save the recordset into a text file. However, because of permissions I am unable to do this and will not be able to change the permissions. My next thought was to open it in excel. However, the table is too large and I get the Cell Table: too many rows or columns error. I need the user to be able to save the records on her computer.
I'm write an asp to include part of a text file into my asp output html, I use FileSystemObject to get the content of the text file, but the asp just hang when it runs, the source code is listed below if anyone could help: Code:

I'm writing data from an access db to a text file then emailing the text file. Everything works fine but it needs to tab deliminated. Can some one post the code for a "tab"?
I was having trouble with the text file regarding the path of the img source depending on the location of the image so I thought I could use the full URL of the image.
Now the site im working has to work on 3 different versions testing / staging and live which gives a server name for the url everytime.
I wrote an asp program that displays some information line by line such as name, address, town, state, zip
and it prints about 200 lines to their browsers when the asp file is called. It is comma delimted so they can import into their database using access for example.
1. when they do file-save as to a txt file, it does not import right for them. It seems the lines blend into each other.
1. the only way they can do it is if they view the source code, then save as txt file. then when they import into access, it parses right.
odd, what can i do on my asp end to make sure they can just do a file save as right from browser instead of viewing source.
Can this be done? For example, in the line below. There may not always be a & objRS("ShippingAddress2") and I'm wondering if there is a way to use an if/then in there some how. If there is no data in that field then I need to pass over this part completely & objRS("ShippingAddress2") & "|"
I'l have several instances where I need to do this Code:
i found this piece of code from a site and it claims that you could create a text file into directory "c:test.txt" and writes the line Hello world in it. Code:
