Populate Table From XML Or Excel Sheet On ASP Page?
Does anyone know where I can find an easy example of how to read an Excel or XML file and automatically populate a table on a ASP page?
I want to create an asp page that has a table on it that reads from a XML or Excel file so I can update the file and the table information changes accordingly. I know this has to be somewhat simple but I cant seem to find any exmaples. I probably am not searching the right keywords or something.
Any suggestions on where to find an example script to do this?
i'm tryin to develop a webpage using classic ASP wherein the user can upload an excel sheet into an Oracle db table with the excel columns correspondin wit the oracle table columns.
i hv come across many ready made libraries/solutions that almost serve the purpose but they didnt work for me since most solutions wud populate the entire excel data into one column of the table. I wud like to know if anyone has a solution tht im lookin for specifically.
may i know how to get got how many EXCEL sheet?i insert sheet1's data to MSSQL SERVER, but i wan to check whether sheet2 have any data onot. If have, then insert to db,else check next sheet.
Using regular VB ASP (not .net) and calling an Access database using ODBC, I've generated a recordset based a query... (no big whoop, obviously)
Now I want to be able to open a new XL spreadsheet (client side - we're assuming user has XL) and export that table to it. I've seen some posts about DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet, and CreateObject("excel.application")... I've never actually used them before, so I don't know where to start.
I'd like to have a link on the page with the table to "export to XL"... and then have it open XL (client side) with that table in a spreadsheet.
I'm using this code in ASP that reads an excel sheet going across. But at time I want to read the excel sheet by going up or down. Is there a way to do this using this code or another? Code:
anybody can help me simulate excel sheet interface in asp and when i make changes to the excel sheet can i save it back to the database using the excel asp changes.
got stalled at at point that i can no longer get my thoughts together.the point, is in classic asp, stream an excel file from a firebird database.temporarly save it if necessary, stream it to the browser, delete the temp file
on googling, i found some examples but all assuming that the file is locally present. on the other hand, i beleive that is possible to stream the binary file and the save it locally to then present it to the browser, but i can't figure out how.
I am wanting to display a sheet from an excel file. I dont need to change/update it, just a simple display. Somthing like the 'Print Preview' you get in excel (that would be perfect).
i cant display the top row of the excel file. also if i try and access a cell that is empty i get an error. I need to display all cells from A1 - G60 if they have data in them or not.
I've got an application which manipulates data in a spreadsheet using ADODB.RecordSets. This works great and I am able to update the spreadsheet with no problems. However, it doesn't "recalc" the sheet even though the sheet is set for automatic calculation. Is there a way to get the sheet to "recalc"?
I've seen statement like obj.Caculate, but I get an error if I try to use statements like Server.CreateObject("Excel.Application"), so "calculate" doesn't work. Can I send it some keystrokes or get another procedure to kick off calculation?
I've read all about file uploads but i can skip that part. I'll be physically placing the excel sheet on the server for now. Each spread sheet will have the same number of columns and will match up. I need to transfer that to a matching table in my database.
i want to take the spread sheet and make it a comma separated list in notepad. i wanna take that and loop through it inserting each record as I go or something to that affect that won't take as long.
I have a master table employee , which contains the details of employees .
i have to upload the the data to this table from thye excel sheet by using asp.
that is -- what i have to do is , I have to provide a interface to browse the the excel sheet by user , afetr browsing the sheet user will submit the page and i have to read all the rows of excel sheet and update the table . if id exists in the table , then update the data otherwise append the data . Code:
I am trying to create an asp that will display part of an excel sheet. I have many hundered excel files and i want a page to view them.
the excel files do NOT have any header rows, i can't change the worksheets, is there any way i can display the contents of a work sheet? I have tried many ways but i seem to always have a problem displaying the top row.
all the excel files have been created using excel 97 if it makes any difference is there any way of doing this?
I've noticed that Internet Explorer adds a number in square brackets to files downloaded from the internet and opened directly (i.e. by clicking 'Open' and not 'Save'). This creates a big problem with downloading Excel spreadsheets as square brackets are not a valid filename character inside Excel worksheet name.
When I click open, it opens the excel sheet with the sheet name as .xls[Sheet and the excel filename as Sheet[1].xls.
Then we get the following error....
While renaming a sheet or chart, you entered an invalid name. Try one of the following:
- Make sure the name you entered does not exceed 31 characters. - Make sure the name does not contain any of the following characters: : / ? * [ or ] - Make sure you did not leave the name blank.
i used sql code above to display data in a table. basically, the flow is like this. when there is a new reservation, a staff will be assigned to handle that reservation from the beginning until the end. before this, i just display a staffCode that retrieved from Reservation table.
then, i made changes to display staffName and removed staffCode from the table (based on requirement). but, because previously, there are some reservations that have been assigned to staff, i do not have any problem to view all data in the table.
but, when i click other reservations that have not assigned to any staff, an error page came out. the default value for staffCode in the Reservation table is null. because this null value, i've got an error page. is there any steps i can use to solve it?
If you have a table on a website that is 3 rows across and 8 down, is there a way to copy code and then but your cursor in the first field and then paste data in each of the table cells?
The result would be rather than typing data in each cell individually, you populate the table with one paste.
I've been reading through all related Excel posts now for about an hour as well as Googling for my answer and I'm getting even more cornfuzed as I go. I have an Existing Excel Spreadsheet, I need to populate certain fields of the form with values from a Database.
I have no problems connecting to my database and pulling up the data, but I have no idea where to begin with opening my existing spreadsheet, then telling it which worksheet to use and then how to populate the fields I need.
I'm not looking for an entire code handout, this is just something that I haven't attempted before in ASP. If someone could just give a quick example of first opening the existing spreadsheet, selecting the correct worksheet and populating 1 field, I think I can figure everything else out from there.
I've been searching the forums for a bit of code (maybe Javascript) that will help me populate a select list using a variable pulled from another select list without refreshing the entire page.
I need to pull the values in the second select list from a database based on search criteria from the first select list. I don't know how to get past the stateless nature of HTML. I'm developing this app using javascript and php for extremely low-bandwidth users and I'm stumped on this one.
We have an ASP site that hits up an Access database of categories of products and products. (e.g. Categories = Napkins, Tablecloths; Products = 20x20 Napkins, 21x21 Napkins, 54x54 Tablecloths, 60x60 Tablecloths)
We currently have select boxes that when you select a category, it populates the next select box with the proper list of products (i.e. I select Napkins as a category, I get a listing of the Napkins)
We would like to put a clickable link before each of these select boxes that would pull up a pop up with links from the records from the proper table.
(e.g. I click the categories link and a popup with html anchor tags of Napkins and Tablecloths appear) I click on the Napkins anchor and it populates the Categories Select box with Categories and Napkins being selected.
I have a table created from different queries and display in a asp page. Currently I have to highlight all the cells and copy and paste into a Excel sheet. Is there a way to automatically convert into a excel or csv file?
Is this possible? I am planning to export data from SQL that generates HTML table. Instead of selecting the table and then copy then paste to excel, is ther a script(JS or VB) that will automatically export or open the Query to it.
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";after downloading the same when i import it back to my system using Microsoft Excel driver, i got an error.
External table is not in the expected format. Do anyone know how to solve it?
i have created a quotation page where customer could view the quotation details and i just thinking to allow customer to print his/her quotation as a reference. all the data are fetched from db and displayed in the table.
I an using ASP to read a database table and generate an HTML table which is save via FSO with a file extension of .xls which opens up in MS-Excel. I am inserting several lines of text into a cell and would like to force a line break between them.
I recorded an MS-Excel macro so see how Alt-Enter was captured which turned out to be Chr(10) which is the same as vbLf (right?)
I tried inserting that in character in the text but it didn't show up as a line break in MS-Excel.
I have created a script that parses and excel file and inserts the data in an Access table. The script works perfectly fine, however I also need to extract a column comments via my script.Column comment is like a tool tip for any given column and therefore it occurs only on mouse hover, not in the actual column data.
I need to solve this as part of a class project. It is designed to simply read a SQL table and display the data in the browser. But it will only show one record based on ID at a time. So if I have multiple records with the same ID such as page.asp?ID=9734, it would show all records using that ID in the browser. Code:
