Is anyone aware of a 255 character limit when reading data from a particular Excel cell? I'm experiencing when pulling straight text from an Excel spreadsheet, which otherwise works fine. Right at 255 characters, the data is truncated and I only see that bit of information.I've searched Google and came up with a few registry modifications, neither of which fixed the issue. Has anyone else ran into this?
I know the basic way of doing this when you have a static set of spreadsheets but I need to be able to process different spreadsheets every day. These spreadsheets are sent to us by an outside auditing firm without named ranges. They have a consistent format. Is there a way to read a specific set of cells without having a named range? Or is there a way to name a range with ASP? I am open to any options here. Going through and creating named ranges is the only thing that wont work sicnce it would take more work than processing the files by hand.
I have a master table employee , which contains the details of employees .

I have to upload one excel file. In that excel file I need to check the availability of data in particular cells and also the worksheet name. If the data is not available at particular cell, say for eg: $F1, an error should be thrown to user saying that the data is manadatory. How to do that? How to read the particular cell in ASP? If anybody knows the code, please send the same.
I had created a macro to read data from an excel sheet and write the values to a text file. I had used "ActiveSheet.Range("GB" & k).Value" command to read the values from the excel.some cells in the excel sheet is having two lines value and four lines data, the text file is generating that value in a single line. (Ex. the cell value in address column is in four lines and should display in four lines in the text file generated from the macro)
Can i do something in the excel sheet or in vb script to read the address value line by line and write line by line in text file?
Im trying to read an Excel file using OLE DB. I have around 500 characters in one cell. But the program is reading only 255 characters. How do i make my program to read all characters?
I have been toying with various resources I have found on here and the web - but would like to know specifically how to get the contents of an excel cell on a particular sheet using .asp?.
Is it possible to set a cell property in Excel from an ASP page. We have numerical data that is taken from a database and then displayed in Excel. I would like ideally all the data to be set at 2 decimal places, is there anyway of setting this from the ASP page?
I came across a problem when importing my data results into Excel. The whole table outputs perfectly but a particular field which is generally large (13 characters long) presents as some random integer which shouldn't be the case. I click on Tools -> Format Cells and change its value to number and to 0 decimal places and great it works.
Am I able to do this before I get into Excel? Or would this always have to be done by the user?
What ASP code can I use, for an ASP-generated spreadsheet, to force a cell to wrap if the content is longer than the width I have specified for that cell?
I an using ASP to read a database table and generate an HTML table which is save via FSO with a file extension of .xls which opens up in MS-Excel. I am inserting several lines of text into a cell and would like to force a line break between them.
I recorded an MS-Excel macro so see how Alt-Enter was captured which turned out to be Chr(10) which is the same as vbLf (right?)
I tried inserting that in character in the text but it didn't show up as a line break in MS-Excel.
I'm using this code in ASP that reads an excel sheet going across. But at time I want to read the excel sheet by going up or down. Is there a way to do this using this code or another? Code:
I created a web page from Excel2000, using "Save as web page..."...Publish function. then, I moved htm file to my IIS web server. Then I added a form control, and submit button.
How can get the data on the excel file using ASP from server side? For example, the value of Cell(1,2), Cell(2,3)....
I cannot figure this out for the life of me. All the tutorials I've gone though give code (and from what it looks like, wrong code) with absolutely no explanation?
My ultimate end is to read the xls file into a mysql database.. but I need some method, way or idea of actually doing this. Presently the data is an a .mdb database (so I can save it to different formats) but I cannot use the .mdb itself to upload the info (server disallows reading and writing from .mdb).
I've looked all over and there is no detailed method of doing this (all I really need is just the basic code for connecting to a .xls sheet (excel sheet) and then reading the data from a line and displaying it on the screen (there is no present tutorial that explains that, least that I can find)
I am storing PDFs as Binary data in MS SQL but do not know how to open the PDF files in ASP. Seperately, how do I capture the filename when I do a multipart/form-data?
i have data in multiple access databases (not multiple tables within one database file) and was wondering if there is a way with ASP to display selected data on one webpage from these different databases?
I am writing a asp code that can take values from user in html form, process it and display it back in some kind of report.
the problem i m encountering is that I have a field which is numeric and I want to compare it with tax-table like for example:

I'm trying to use Activer Server Pages (ASP) to get Data from SQL database to Excel. Do you need to have any ActiveX installed to achieve this and has anyone has experience in doing this?
I currently have an excel flat database, it contains a computerName and it has a list of parts associated with it next to the cell value of computerName. There values that are offsetted to the right are the parts associated with the computer name. I was wondering through ASP could i have a dropdown of the computerName, when clicking submit it will find the offsetted values to the right.
I have an intranet application written in asp using access as the backend database. My users have requested they be able to download certain data into an excel spreadsheet. I have limited asp experience and could use some help.
Ideally, the user would be prompted to save and name the file (save as dialogue) and then the data would be selected and saved into that file. I know I can use a select statement to select data directly into an excelspreadsheet using:
SELECT * INTO [Excel 8.0;Database=" & lcPathFile & "].[Sheet1] FROM myTable
I retrieve data from the database and display on ASP, then I export these data to a file, like Excel (the best) or text file. Is it possible? I think it is possible, but how can I do that?
