Automatically Fill Out An Excel File From An ASP Page?
My boss wants me to develop this page so that users can click on a button alongside an employee's page and this will open up the company Expenses Claim Form with some of the fields automatically filled in, pulled from the same SQL database that the webpage gets its info from.
I have been looking this up for *weeks* now, but the only solutions I can see involve the dot net framework, 3rd-party plug-ins or installing the Microsoft ODBC driver for Excel. My boss will not accept any of these solutions, as we are a huge organisation and this has to work accross the entire system. We're stuck with MS Office 2002, Windows XP and SQL Server 2000.
So far the best I can manage is getting the Excel form to open (but without the fields filled in), which I accomplish using the following code:
I have a form that has 2 text fields. Field one is start date and field two is end date. I want field one to automatically be filled in when the Web page is opened with DateSerial(Year(Date()),Month(Date()),1) which should give me the first day of the month. Field two should be automatically be filled in with todays date. How do I do this?
Is it possible to use ASP +/ VBScript to automatically fill in certain fields of an HTML form with data generated from what the user typed in another field?
For example, the user needs to input 24 consecutive weeks worth of forecast data. If everything is done manually, they'll have to type in a date for each of the week. I would like the form to automatically fill in the following 23 dates (each one week later than the previous field) after the user fill in the first week's date. How do I do that?
Basically, I want to have an asp page that has a button where when you click on it, it opens up a file open dialog box where you can search for any excel file you want to import. Then, once a file is selected, I want to read all the contents of the excel file (from column A) to display into a listbox on the screen (so that each individual row from excel file would be a separate item in the listbox). Also, this data would have to be inserted accordingly into an access database .....
I've got an asp page which scans a range of IP addresses and printes the response to screen.
I've tried loads of methods and ended up with using javascript innerHTML to try and fill the content
What I'd like is the value to return instantly rather than wait until the routine has completed and return ALL the results.
if i'm pinging a big range of addresses the page usually times out...... I thought if I could build the page dynamically, one result at a time, the timeout error wouldn't happen - and users would see that something is actually happening!!! Code:
But, I want to pass some data to be displayed in the pdf file. This software allows to insert some textboxes(with name given to each textbox) in the pdf file and save them. So, when I open this pdf file through my code, I want some values to be displayed in these textboxes.
I would like to run an ASP page each day at the same time automatically. it reads from my product data and ftps the data to another server.

I have an ASP page that displays random facts. Data is stored in a database. Everytime user hits on refresh, randomize function shows a new fact. I would like my asp page to refresh automatically every minute or so and run the randomize funtion and show a new fact. Is it possible with ASP? I have seen it done with Flash.

is it possible to automatically post a file from a websites host server to a third party server. Apparently this is quite easy to do using PHP. The scenario is that I have created a two line text file in a secure area of the web server. This file then has to be posted to a third party server for them to process. The trigger has to be a user click.
I have a page that allows user input. On click of the submit button I call a javascript function that verifies that all of the fields are filled out and then submits the form. I need to add code after the verification that creates and sends an email. I know how to do this in VBscript, but don't know how to call a vbscript function from a jscript function (is this even possible?).

I am having trouble downloading an excel report generated from our AS pages. We presumed it was something to do with the SSL certificate w just installed, so loaded the ForceSSL.inc script from Microsoft an changed the cache settings by changing this code in our globals.as file:
what I want to do is - the user is presented with a form with a drop down box at the top with two options - Yes or No, If No is selected then the form stays as is and the user can complete the other text boxes.
However, if the user selects yes I want the page to refresh with a different set of input boxes.
It works if the file in on the server side, how to use the component (DSOleFile) with the file on the client side? Also how can I calculate the width of the file. (Page set up - Landscape or porrait). Code:
The title looks a bit odd, but it is what I really need I have different users, which I get the information from them in an ASP page, the data is stored in a SQL database, one of these users is authorized to check and close the data entry. Once the data entry is closed, an ‘Excel’ file should be generated according the entered data and be placed in a directory for use of other users. I have to add a feature, on click of button file open as dialog box will open and user can attach a excel file. Then we can able to validate, actually file attached or not, it is excel file or not etc.. if everything is ok app will will do further processing on the file.. Since vbscript and jscript is used any fee tool available...I tried to do it through MSComDlg.CommonDialog but it is a licenced version. I am trying to create an excel file consisting of data from a SQL database using asp. I dont want the file to open up in the browser. I want the file to be opened in Microsoft excel. I have seen similar questions out here but no answers.
am creating a asp page that wiil fetch data from database and export that to excel. not using excel objet, am creating a HTML table to display the data. Now that it displays the data correctly in IE, I want to it to be stored in excel file too.

What would be involved with having an Excel spreadsheet displayed in an ASP page? The additional problem is that the file name changes on a monthly basis. For example, this month's file name is 'Feb 2005.xls'.
One of the pages of my application opens an Excel 2000 workbook in a new window using Javascript. The workbook is read only and I use a window.open command to open the workbook. On the workbook's BeforeClose event I have a code to avoid the 'Save' dialog: Me.Saved = True
If I open the page locally, change some content and close the workbook, the 'Save' dialog does not appear, as expected. As soon as I open the workbook on the web, the 'Save' dialog still appears when I close the window. I need to allow my users to change the contents of the workbook but they cannot save the workbook. Is my approach wrong? How can I avoid the 'Save' dialog?
Can anyone help with this? Here is the code I am using. The problem is, where it checks if a file exists, it always goes to else. Even if the file is there, it won't open the file, goes straight to else part of statement.

I am creating a webpage and have a form where a visitor will choose a day, month, and year. I want to pass the data from the form into an asp page which will process it and put it into a string and open the excel file requested. The excel file to open will depend on the day, month, and year chosen in the form.

Basically I need to search the excel-file as I would search a db.
