Java Code Removed Data From XML File
Jul 16, 2014
I tried working with XML today, since that's what my book teaches. First, I read some data about Product objects that are suppose to represent products with a code, description, and price. That worked fine. Then, I tried creating a writeProducts(ArrayList<Product> products) method, and man it did not go well.
How it works is that there is an ArrayList instance variable in the class that keeps track of all of my products after the readProducts method returns that ArrayList from the XML file. When I ran the method I had a lot of stack traces printed. I then checked the file on a web browser and an editor, and saw it was completely empty. Here's the code:
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.io.*;
import javax.xml.stream.*; // StAX API
public class XMLTesterApp {
private static String productsFilename = "products.xml";
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Products list:");
[Code] ....
Java Result: 1
BUILD SUCCESSFUL (total time: 0 seconds) mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
On a side note, is it normal if almost everything I writer has to be debugged?

I written java code in JSP to display data. I know it is bad practice. Actually my Business-service communicates with DB and returning data in the form of MAP. I don't have beans Because the fields in DB is dynamically changing. So, for now I'm retrieving Data by writing Java code in JSP. Is there any other way to display data without writing java code in JSP?

//Add three red items to the list
LinkedList red= new LinkedList();
red.add(0,"1");
red.add(1,"2");
red.add(2,"3");
//create abc bucket to red items.
LinkedList abcred= new LinkedList();
red.remove(0);
//So how to insert removed item into abc buckets (similar to stack data structure)
I want to remove all red items and after that add to "abcred" using one by one. So, how to do that?

I am trying to complete this question. I understand the most of it but I haven't go a clue to read in the file name.
Full question: Implement a program that reads in a Java source code file and checks to see if it has balanced {}brackets. Your program should use a stack, implemented as a linked list, to check the brackets.
NOTE: you can use a reference called top which points to the head of the list. Your program should run as a command line program and should take a filename as an argument and print one of BALANCED or NOT BALANCED.
For example: c:> java checkBalanced "myProgram.java" BALANCED

I am having some trouble with a Java program. I have a txt data file, which I will display, that I need to add into two separate arrays. The text file is 8 lines long that is supposed to go into two separate 4x4 matrices. A little background info on this program, reads in two arrays, compares them and outputs the largest elements of the same index and outputs them in a separate array. I somehow cannot seem to figure out how to do this. My code is below:
Data File:
2 7 6 4
6 1 2 4
9 7 2 6
8 3 2 1
4 1 3 7
6 2 3 8
7 2 2 4
4 2 3 1
Code:
public class prog465a {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner inFile = null;
try {
inFile = new Scanner(new File("prog465a.dat.txt"));
[Code] .....

I would like to create an ArrayList from data types stored in a text file.The ArrayList would be multidimensional with two data types; int, String.
Example text file could be:
4 cahiers grand format
3 stylots bic bleu
5 gommes
I find it very difficult for multiple data types i don't see how its possible.

We have an autosys job running in our production on daily basis. It calls a shell script which in turn calls a java servlet. This servlet reads these files and inserts the data into two different tables and then does some processing. Java version is 1.6 & application server is WAS7 and database is oracel-11g.
We get several issues with this process like it takes time, goes out of memory etc etc. Below are the details of the way we have coded this process.
1. When we read the file using BufferedReader, do we really get a lot of strings created in the memory as returned by readLine() method of BufferedReader? These files contain 4-5Lacs of line. All the records are separated by newline character. Is there a better way to read files in java to achieve efficiency? I couldnt find any provided the fact that all the record lines in the file are of variable length.
2. When we insert the data then we are doing a batch process with statement/prepared statement. We are making one batch containing all the records of the file. Does it really matter to break the batch size to have better performance?
3. If the tables has no indexes defined nor any other constraints and all the columns are VARCHAR type, then which operation will be faster:- inserting a new row or updating an existing row based upon some matching condition?

i am fairly new to java but have made a few projects so i do know most aspects that would allow me to complete the task its just i have been stuck at the same place now for 2 days.The project is to create a java program that can read specific data within a csv file to work out the averages etc. The csv file is a database of different weather stats . an example of the first 12 months of the csv file is below..
[CSV FILE]
year ,month,average rainfall etc
1946 15.70.616108.131.5
1946 28.23.56111.871
1946 38.82932.9 102.9
1946 414.16.3029.2 150.5
1946 513.96060.7 143.6
[code]...
I know that once the data is indexed i can than use a double to find the average of the 12 specific pieces of data and so on. once this is complete i should than be able to transfer the data to a simple graph.

By using FileReader, FileWriter and their constituents, I am creating a file to contain employee information ( name, age, hours, etc. ). The user is to input all of the data on a single line and we were asked to implement StringTokenizer to assign that data to the file. I have never used the StringTokenizer before, but I have a rough idea how it is to function. I used pw.println to test what I have so far, now I would like to let the user build the initial file with the "first employees" of the company, and then view the file, and then go back and append new employee data to that same file. My question is, how can I take the user input as a StringTokenizer and add that to the file?
In the for loop below, I thought I would see if it would work, but it does not. The loop only executes once and does not allow me to enter data.
public class Records {
public static void main(String [] args) throws IOException {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
FileWriter fw = new FileWriter("dbs3.java");
BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(fw);
PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(bw);
System.out.println("NEW EMPLOYEE DATA SHEET");
System.out.print("Number of new employees: ");
int number = input.nextInt();
[Code] ....

I am creating a program where it reads the data inside a file and then places this data into arrays. The file I created has numbers 1-30 in it, file named, testing1.txt .
Java Code:
public static void main(String[] args) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
// Variables Declaration Section
//******************************
BufferedReader br;
String sCurrentLine;
String str;
[Code] ....
My issue is that the 'str' value is not initialized, but if I initialize it, it ruins the code. I'm not sure what to do in the situation.

I have a simple project to save data to the database. I have successfully mapped the java class with the database table. The code displays no error, it runs very well but it does not save to database, instead it catches an exception and prints out "saving failed". The database is a mysql database.
This is the managed bean code. Save.java(name=bean)
//imports
@ManagedBean(name="bean")
@RequestScoped
public class Save {
private String username,password,msg;
Session session = null;
Transaction transaction = null;
//GETTERS AND SETTERS
public Save() {

My problem is that in my program, I have the user input data for one of three product objects, however when I read the data for all three objects, the same data is stored in all of them.
Anyway this is the method from the Interface class:
private void readInput() // the only method in the program that accepts product data from the user {
Store matesStore = new Store();
String name;
int demandRate, productChoice;
double setupCost, unitCost, inventoryCost, sellingPrice;
Scanner console = new Scanner(System.in);
[Code] ....
And here is the method from the Store class:
public static void addData(int option, String newName, int newDemand, double newSetup, double newUnit, double newInventory, double newPrice)
//sets the product data for a particular product {
if (option==1) setData(product1, newName, newDemand, newSetup, newUnit, newInventory, newPrice);
else if (option==2) setData(product2, newName, newDemand, newSetup, newUnit, newInventory, newPrice);
else /*(option==3)*/ setData(product3, newName, newDemand, newSetup, newUnit, newInventory, newPrice);
[Code] ....
The problem I had was with static variables and methods.
