I have a problem with functions connected to strings.
I have a random String, e.g. "Hello World!" and I have to change every capital Letter into a small letter and vise versa. This alone would be fairly simple, but I have to do it with two other strings.
lowercase= "abcde...z" and
uppercase="ABCDE...Z". Every small letter stands at the very same position as the capital letter, but in the other string.
There should be a letter for letter search in lowercase and uppercase for the letters of "Hello World".
How I could solve the task, however I need a way to search the first string, here "Hello World", according to position. A statement which does: "Give me the letter of position x". This found letter should be able to be stored in a variable or else be able to be used by another statement. And it should be compatible with a for lope.

I'm trying to create a private method called capitalize() which takes String nameModel in any uppercase/lowercase combination and returns it with the first letter uppercased and all other lowercased. E.g. "stePHeN" returns "Stephen" . This is what I've written so far:

How to write this program.. I have tried all my best but the results are not coming like this..
Example : I have code and name but my code must start with the first letter of the inputed name if the 2 input is match it will be inserted into database

What I am thinking on this was compare the code the name? if == it will be inserted but how do i get the 1st letter of the input name?

I am not sure how to make the program check if the letter entered by the user matches the one in the array. also i am not sure how to make the program run again with a new word.
I am writing a program for a game. It is between the user and a virtual player. The game starts with a pool of consecutive integers 1-100. The size of the pool is based on a random generated number at the beginning of the game. At the start, both players' scores are 0. For each turn, the player picks one number from the pool. That value is added to the player's score, the computer gets the sum of all the remaining numbers in the pool that divide evenly into the player's pick. The player's pick and its divisors are then removed from the pool.
The player should be able to play the game as many times as she wants without ending the program. Instructions should appear on the screen only once at the start of the program.
For each turn, both players' current score, the current pool of numbers, and a prompt for a number to be entered should show onscreen. I have written the code until I get to the function that updates the pool of numbers after a turn.

My thinking is that I need to use the binary search to find the indexes of the divisors array and then use those indexes as the start values. I'm not sure how to assign the divisors indexes to start. Do I need an array for start? Whenever I run the program, the only value missing is 3.

I want to use a method, which takes for example an int and also returns an integer. For example, if the the given integer is strong return a, if it is notstrong return b. How would you write that in a Code?
I want to use that in a more general way. I want to give a method mlong the value X of the type date and let it return an int. Type date consists of 3 int, one of them is the int month.

I think I'm on the right track, the only big error I'm really getting is the line: sum += grades[i]. It's saying string can not be converted into a double.
An array has objects with String firstName, String lastName, int ID, char examType('M' or 'F'), and int score. Every object has both Midterm('M') and Final('F'). The array has to be sorted by the first Midterm- 'M' and immediately followed by the Final ('F') of the same person (object). Im having troubles with coming up with a proper algorithm with gettin the Final- 'F' after Midterm for the same person.

The code is working when i run it and i have the right result in my screen but i know this is all wrong with the variables.
I am working on an assignment where I initially have to take as input a number. That number will be the number of strings the user is going to type. As they are typed, they are to be sorted alphabetically, then printed. It took me a while to get this far, and I am stuck on how to properly invoke the other methods in main. There has to be at least three methods: main, one to do the sorting, and one to print the new array. I'm quite sure there are mistakes in my code, but this is definitely a challenge for me. Every time i try and add a new word to personalDictionary, it only replaces the first index. In my personalAdd method i had tried to add a running count to advance the position it would be saving in but it doesn't seem to be working correctly...

I am trying to update a Rubik's cubes side by adding each of the 9 squares of the Rubik's cube's side.
