Simple Mathematical Computation Not Working - Receiving Errors

Here's my code:
System.out.println((3 / 1.5) + 42(3 + 3));
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm receiving these errors:
PrintFunction.java:8: error: ')' expected
System.out.println((3 / 1.5) + 42(3 + 3));
^

System.out.println((3 / 1.5) + 42(3 + 3));

I'm trying to read lines from a textfile and count all the words using String Tokenizer. However I keep getting an error "Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException" on my IDE(Eclipse) referring to lines 13 and 8. When I let the IDE automatically, and I've even tried typing this manually, insert a try-catch block more errors show up concerning inputFile. When I insert the throws FileNotFoundException for each method it compiles but after running it gives me a FileNotFoundException for textfile.txt. What's even more interesting is that when I copy the .java file out of the IDE project folder, place it in a random empty folder on the Desktop with the textfile.txt, and try running it through command line, it gives a NoSuchElementException: No line found.

I've created several methods in another class to perform certain matrix calculations. Do I need to have mutator method in this calculation class to define the column length of the matrix object? I understand why the following code is not working, but I was hoping to get a quick and easy workaround. I'm not sure how to initialize the size of the column for newMatrix within the method.

Then I will use this method to print the new matrix:

Is all of this overkill and should I just define all the methods within the same class to avoid these issues?

Say I was to make a computer game, the first person to play the game would have a joinable game and would then be the server, and anyone joining in would be the client and the server was updated with JSON data of the clients computer game, and the server would then update each client of each characters new data using JSON, I would need fast multi threaded connection handling with minimum overhead, Is there a specific way to do this? or are there many?
I have realized there are a few ways to send and receive data using UDP and while experimenting I have also found its quite hard to synchronise.
Do I have a connection listening until there is data to be sent and then switched back to listening?
Do I have the server listening for a microsecond and then checking to see of there's anything to send for a microsecond continuously?
Do I have multiple connections for sending and receiving
Do I create new connections for each new and individual packets to be sent and received dynamically on a thread?
What is the optimum most effective way and do my examples reflect much understanding at all? my resent attempts create new problems and rather than re invent the wheel I would like to know what is normally done.

Keep getting a ParseException when I try to parse a ISO 8601 formatted String into a Java Date type.

Keeps returning a ParseException:

I am working on the SMS receiving using AT Commands using JAVA. i m getting the message of one page correctly using AT commands, but as i increase the size of SMS as 2, 3 or bigger pages the alphabets are converted to some thing like this

I want to declare integers, while the program is running.
I run the program and then I give it via System.in.println an integer and repeat this as long as I want. I want the program to give those integers a name of a certain type for, for example a(i) or a[i], dunno, (it should be handy) and then a(i) represents the the i'th integer I gave the program. My idea is then that I can use those elements by their name just like, if I had declared them in the first place. For example add two integers together. For example I defined a method add+, which waits for 2 integer and then adds them. For example I write:
add
a(2)
a(47)
(then I would get here the result.)
However I don't know, how to let the program count the number of inputs or how to let it declare and use variables.

I understand how mixing expressions of different data types can result in an error if the assigned variable is not the same data type. But I don't understand how the below causes an error:
short totalPay, basePay = 500, bonus = 1000;
totalPay = basePay + bonus; // This causes the error
500 + 1000 = 1500. 1500 falls within the short parameters. If basePay, bonus, and totalPay are all short, as well as the resulting equation, how is this erroring?

My program is reading my file, but its printing out weird cryptic numbers instead of the 1-10 that is in the file. But it uses the numbers in the file to get the Max Value and Total. Also I am receiving 0 for my Minimum Value but, 0 isn't even in the file, my lowest value is 1.
