Adding Information On A Form Based On ID

I've got a form that has certain information and I would like to be capable of clicking on a button entitled "add a client". When that button is pressed I would like another form to open and provide a search query asking for the client's name. When I hit okay I want a list of clients to be viewed based on a partial search. Once I have found the one I want I want to be able to click/do something to get me back to the original form. At this time, all the client information all will be put on the form and introduced to that particular table row.

Updating Information In A Form Based On Query

Hello

I have made a form based on a query that pulls information from 4-5 tables. I would like to be able to change information in those 4-5 tables by using that form, but I am unable to do it. I opened up the properties for the form and set "data entry" and "Allow edits" and "allow additions" and "allow subtractions" all to YES. That didn't help.

Is it possible to do this, since the form is based on a query? I couldn't figure out a good way to set up the form getting the information directly from the four tables. I'm not sure why it's been so difficult.

I have one table full of all of the various titles I have. The tables are related using those titles, and each table has a different sort of information for each record. So, the "main" table is "ALL TITLES," but when I go make a form, I can't get ALL TITLES to be the controlling table. It's very frustrating. But a query works beautifully--I just can't change anything.

(I would like to have the form be a "user-friendly" way for people to make changes.)

I have a form to record student information. On my student table i have a school I.D that links to the primary key of my school table.

My problem is that in my form, i want to be able to fill in the rest of the fields about the school info based on the I.D chosen.

i.e.

student table:
Student id
name
address
school I.D (FK)

School info table:
School I.D (PK)
school name
contact name
email
address

My form that's linked to the student table needs all the information from the school info table in separate fields
but i can only select School I.D in the Control Source Property.

I have a searchable form that display information on agreements other companies have with us. If a company requests an inspection we have 30 days to go out and complete it.

I am trying to create a message box that will display all inspections that are due within 5 days when the form loads. No luck so far, only broken dreams.

Is it possible for message boxes to use expressions and display information that fits the criteria?

Adding New Information To Two Tables At Once

I am new with Access and fear that this might be a very elementary question - apologies. Basically, I would like to create a few different tables that all have the same base information (like the primary key and name of the data), but different additional information. The only thing that I can't seem to figure out is how to be able to add a new entry to one table and have it show it up in the other tables. Is this possible? Thank you!

Adding Information To A Read-only Table?

Hello,

I wasn't sure which area to post this question in...since it involves queries, tables, and forms :)

There is a read-only table in my company's data warehouse that stores a lot of records. I wish to set up a form that will allow users to add or relate data (fields) to each of those records.

Updating the data warehouse table structure is not an option.

How can I best do this...

1. set up my own table somewhere, that will automatically append any new data warehouse records every night, so basically I'll always have a copy of the DW table, but with additional fields that can be updated?

2. set up another table/query that are linked to the DW table via unique identifier...but if I do this, how do I display the DW records alongside the new fields in a way that makes sense? another query? will I be able to write in data in this fashion?

3. ...some other way?

Any assistance will be very much appreciated!

General :: Adding Two Numbers While Inputting The Information?

I have a database where on the form we are just put in total deductions. We want to make sure that the total deductions is correct so while we are entering this number we want to do an excel thing by hitting = 1 + 1. Anytime we do that we are getting an error message. I really didn't want to have to set up a table to store these different amounts because we really only need the total. Is there a way to do that? I changed the format from currency to general but I'm still getting the error.

Reports :: Adding A Chart That Represents Information On Report

I have a popup form that prompts for a value and has a button defined with an OnClick,OpenReport with a WHERE clause. The value the user enters is placed in the WHERE clause.

The report is generated using a Query and the WHERE clause.
I was very surprised -- it works!

Now I'd like to add a chart to the report that represents the information on the report. How can I do this without calling the query again? Can I somehow reference the information that's in the report?

On my form I would like the user to be able to select a company, and once the company has been selected I would like a box to display all the contact information for the specific company. I would also like this box to record the contact information onto my database along with the other information that will be gathered on the same form.The Contacts and Companies are linked with the COSYSNO and CoSysNo fields.

I am trying to get a form to display certain information based on the data in another box. I have to input some exam results and want to assign a level to them. So, if they score < 13, the result would read "Below Entry 3" if between 13 and 21 "Entry 3" etc If this was a spreadsheet I would use an if function, but I am not sure that I can do this here

My report is grouped by a Billing Group #...within each billing group there are sub invoice numbers that are tied to the main billing group # (they all have the same billing group # but different general invoice numbers). I need to pull data if one of the general invoice # invoice dates is greater than or equal to a specific date entered.

In other words: If a Billing Group # and one of the Invoice Dates is greater than or equal to a specific date entered then pull ALL GROUP data to report.

Creating a form against a table with the following fields

EC
Project
Originator
Title
Full description
Effectivity
Etc....

Easy enough to create the Project combo box, problem comes with trying to systematically assign the next EC number.

When I select a Project from a combo box I want an EC assigned with format ECXXXX-### where XXXX is the project number from the combo box and ### is a sequential number. ECs should start at -001 for all projects.

Do I need to add an EC suffix field to hold just the ###? Then what?

Reports :: Multiple Tables - Pull Information From Records Based On Certain Key Fields

I have a form (form1) that will populate with records (table1) based on key fields of "Project Number" and at time-points we will update part of the record, and then we create a word document detailing the updates with a couple of other bits of information not in original record.

Basically I want it to go from the original form (form1) into another form (form2) (via a command button) taking the key field of "Project Number" where it will ask the bits of information that we don't need have already and the contact person.

I have got this to store in a different table (table2) using a key field of just "ID" from the original records (table1). A list of contact people are in a separate table (table3) using a key field of "contact name" which will include other details for them such as address and phone number.

So from "form2" I would like to produce a report that contains information form "table1" based on the "Project Number" and "table2" based on "ID" as just been generated and "table 3" which is based on "contact name".

So I want to pull information form the records based on the certain key fields but struggling for it to pull it successfully...

Got relationships between:
"contact name" fields in both "table2" and "table3"
"project number" fields in both "table1" and table2"

In a query for the report I have all the appropriate fields, but only have the "contact name" and "project number" from "table2" is this right? or do I need both in?

Or would it be easier to draw all this information into "form2" but don't really want to select that many drop down boxes or would it be able to pull it from the "contact name" and "project number" boxes????

Queries :: IIF Statement Query - Pull Information From A Table Based On Specified Weight

I am having a problem to get my query to run properly. I have a huge IIf statement that doesn't seem to be working but I am not sure what is wrong with it. What it is supposed to do is return a good, actionable, or poor based on a specified weight and an actual weight. So what the query does is pull information from a table based on the specified weight and then using that information it should give back the correct rating in the last column.

Here are the conditions:

Poor:
AW(Actionable Weight)<Lower Actionable Weight
AW> Upper Actionable Weight

Actionable:
Lower Actionable<AW<Lower Acceptable
Upper Acceptable<AW< Upper Actionable

Good:
Lower Acceptable<AW<Upper Acceptable

The lower acceptable, actionable, and upper acceptable, actionable are different numbers based on the specified weight entered.

Here is the IIf Statement I currently have and I wasnt sure if order mattered or what I was doing wrong..

Field To Automatically Fill With Correct Value Based On Information In Multiple Fields

I have a database in which we are trying to have a field "Headcount" automatically fill with the correct value based on information in multiple fields. The "Headcount" field will be based on about 6 or 7 rules. Most of the rules i can figure out, but im having trouble figuring out what the best way would be to search for a single individual's projects when they are on more than one project at a time. I thought about using a counter of sorts to count how many projects someone was one, but how do I pick them out of the entire table once i have found out the number of projects? Would a for loop work best or just many if statements?

Hi. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. Right now, I am not even sure if I should be trying to create an expression in Design View or if I should be trying Visual Basic.

I have a report query that shows each transaction for medications. There is a TransactionType field and a Quantity field. The values in the TransactionType field are "Prescribed" and "Stocked."

How can I get the # in the Quantity field to be set as positive or negative, based on the TransactionType, without the users having to key it (+/-) in themselves?

It would look like:
Qty TransType
-10 Prescribed
10 Stocked

Adding Minutes To Time Based On Selection

My table, TblTYPE, will contain two field.
TYPE
DURATION

There will only be 7 records in this table:
FUS, 30 minutes
POS, 30 minutes
PRE, 30 minutes
NOV, 90 minutes
FUL, 90 minutes
ANN, 90 minutes
NPB, 60 minutes

1st question: How do I enter only minutes in the table for field 2?

I want the following to happen.
The end-user enters the start time and the type. As soon as the type is entered, field three calculates an end-time based on the start time and the type. When the type is entered, the minutes listed in field two of the type table are added to the start time (giving you an end time).

Can anyone help me?
1.) How to properly format the minutes in the original table.
2.) How to add the minutes to the original time in a query.

I have a form where I can add a new resident. It runs off a query that shows ID as null and has a button to add the data and refresh the form and query. I used to drop in OLE files but have since changed it to a linked image file. What I want to do is pull the info from the data that I input as a new resident.

Basically it means that any staff member can take a photo of the resident and put it in a folder and the database will point to that file.

The location is..."C:UsersRP"&[First Name]&" "&[Last Name]&".jpeg" First Name and Last Name are in the table already. I have tried using an append and an update query to no avail.

I have 4 fields I'm trying to combine, but I need to add spaces between field 1 and the rest of them. The total character count needs to be 22 including the spaces.

Example:

Field 1: THE

What I would like to do is create a list box that will only display the information from another form that is related to the current form.So I have a form call Equipment Catalog and that form is related to Equipment features 1 to M relationship and the Equipment Features is related to a Features form M to 1.

So what I want to do is display all the related equipment features in a listbox that is related to the current PK of that form.So if there is only one feature on one form the list box will only display that one item however is there is 6 features on another it will display all 6.I have been trying SQL and Queries but I still can't get it to work.
