Adding Multiple Searches In Where Condition
Oct 16, 2013
I currently have this for my where condition, and searches the form based on the clientID selected in the combo box.
The catch now is i have to add another search.
="[ClientID] =" & [TempVars]![ActiveControlValue]
now i have to also search [ProductID]
The combo Box is set up like this:
ClientID....ContactName....ProductName....ProductI D
Hidden.....Visible..............Visible........... ..Hidden
How can i add [ProductID] into the existing where condition to add an additional parameter?

I want to be able to make row searches for multiple sets of characters at the same time. The default setting cancels a row if I have inputed a set that is not on that row.Something that could be used in a store or by a lawyer looking for specifics. So these are what I am looking for:
Primary
1.) I want any row with any of the words I type to show on the results.
2.) I want the rows with the most matches to show up first.
Secondary
1.) Recognize sets of characters that are close to what I type to make up for spelling errors and typos, prioritize those that are closest.
2.) To be able to choose the rows I want and add them to another list quickly where the summing cost will be calculated in the last raw (multiplying the price of a row by how many the customer wants.)

Hi
I wrote code that should validate a field when entering a new record and then if a condition is true, that new record should be cancelled and not entered into the table.
I managed to partially achieve this by writing the code below, but the new record does not get cancelled because the table will still create a PK for that record and leave the rest of the fields empty. I am using an autonumber for the PK that's why the table creates it automatically What I want to achieve is to cancel the creation of a new record at once, I don't want even PK created for that new record.
I used the CancelUpdate because I thought it would cancel the record creation, but it did not! When I read about it it said that I need to use it with either Edit or AddNew, (which i don't understand why!) but it still does not work.
Private Sub PlotNum_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
On Error GoTo Err_msg
Dim db As DAO.Database, rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim n As Integer, i As Integer
Dim vPlotNum As Integer
Dim vPhaseID As Integer
vPhaseID = Forms![frmHouse].Form![PhaseID]
vPlotNum = Forms![frmHouse].[qryHouse2].Form![PlotNum]
Set db = CurrentDb
Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("tblHouse")
rs.MoveLast
n = rs.RecordCount
rs.MoveFirst
If n > 0 Then
For i = 1 To n
If rs![PhaseID] = vPhaseID Then
If rs![PlotNum] = vPlotNum Then
rs.Edit
rs.CancelUpdate
MsgBox "This plot number already exist in this particular phase." & vbCrLf & "Please choose a different Plot Number"
Forms![frmHouse].qryHouse2.Form![PlotNum].Text = ""
End If
End If
rs.MoveNext
Next i
End If
rs.Close
db.Close
Set db = Nothing
Set rs = Nothing
Exit_Err_msg:
Exit Sub
Err_msg:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Err_msg
End Sub
Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

hi all,
I am doing one project using access. I 've made two forms. In one form, lets say, it contains two common buttons. Both buttons will load the same second form and will add new record to the same table. When I click first button, it will load second form with all fields blank and one field of record will autofill one value, lets say "a" to the table. That field shouldn't be appeared in the second form, just want to fill automatically. Then the other fields of new records will be filled by the user input from the second form.
Also, when I click second button, it will do similarly but only the autofill value will be different from the first one.
Does anyone know how to make it?
If don't understand what I am saying, I can explain it again.
Any help will be grateful for me.

What I am trying to create is a Despatch database for our warehouse.
Records in table:
Date ()
Customer
Invoice #
Qty of parcels sent
Courier used
consignment number
In most cases we will send one invoice per consignment number (database works fine for this) But on occasion we may send multiple invoices. What I want to be able to do is have a list box to select the number of invoices, this will make available additional fields for Invoice # and Qty of parcels sent. The idea is to get away from keying in the other records for each invoice going to the same place.

Im trying to build a query that checks four fields for blanks. If I try to run the query with the criteria Is Null for all four fields, I only get 27 records. However, if I run the query with the condition only on one field I get the right number of records around 1000. I have been having to run four independant queries and then merge them in Excel. What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to have a single or multiple query criteria based on what the user checks on a form.
I can't get the True condition to work at all, I get no records. Here is what I'm using
IIf([Forms]![FrmAttendanceLogsRpt]![BlkFilter]=-1,[TempVars]![EID] Or 86,[TempVars]![EID])
If I just put
[TempVars]![EID] Or 86
in the Criteria it works just fine.

Hello,
I am creating a database for a client and have come across a small problem.
The basic background of the database is that it will be used to record and maipulate the results of observations that are conducted on members of teaching staff.
The client wants the ability to search for people that have not had an observation or have an outstanding observation. The observations are made on a termly basis (so there are three terms. 1, 2 and 3). When an observation is entered into the database, the term number is selected from a drop-down box.
I was woundering if anybody could help me with this as I am unter the impression that I am going to need to search for records that don't yet exist and I am unaware of how to do this in a database.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
Jason.

My Access DB has two Number fields and five Text fields (each having field size of 200). They contain text. The DB is organised year-wise. I have now crossed 15000 records. I find that the search is very slow. Search is done on all these text fields for each word typed. Some one suggested that I index the fields to speed up the search. When I tried to change the indexes to Yes, it didnt accept. Is there any other way to speed up search?
As an alternative, I created an append query to append records of the year I select in my form to another table so that I can search that table instead of the main table which contains all years records. But the append query is not appending records.
Any solution would be appreciated

I have a search tool, but right now it is 100% case sensitive in the sense that if i search for "test" and my entry is "Test" it will not return any results.
is there any way to setup so I could say search for "Test" and it would find "test" properly? Or even to the extreme where I searched for "Tes*" and it came back with the "test" entry.
Thanks,

Hi Guys,
I apoligies in adcance, this has probably been asked several times, but I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything.
Just now I have a report running from a query were a name is input, the data is pulled out the table and is presented in the report.
I want to take out the potential for user error by having them select the name from the drop down and then running the search.
Years ago (I'm a little rusty) I managed to figure it out, but for the life of me I can't remember!
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello, I have what I believe to be a very basic, albeit wordy question regarding an Access based mailing list that I am designing. For the scope of this project, I have 7 fields: Position (the position of the person recieveing the mailer, So far all I have is the "Principal", these are all schools) Name (The name of the school), Address, City, State, Zip and SchoolID (this is the primary key and will be hidden)
My question is: How can I add multiple positions per School (Name)? I need to add 1st through 6th grade teachers as well as the councilor to each location. So each of these people will be sent a mailer. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask any questions needed.
Thank you

I believe this can be done with a query, but am having problems with it.
What i have is a db with a table for employee another table for training items and a third table to tie them both together. These employees are divided into several "teams" (team 1, team 2 etc ...) The training items are assigned to some or all of the teams. ( i know that this is a many to many relationship and i believe that is where i get confused ) Now the problem. What i would like to do is have a form that will allow the user to assign a new training item to teams 4, 5 and 6 and have access automatically create a record in the table. Now that the 20 or so employees that are assigned these training items will have a record that the user can simply fill in a date when the training has been completed by the employee.
I believe what i am looking for is an append query. Is that right?? Have been playing with this one for awhile and have no luck so i would appreciate any help i can get on this one
thanks again
Ricky

This might be confusing so I will try to give as much detail as possible.
I have a table that has part numbers and the number of that part used that is based on a construction group lets call it.
I have another table that has all the different products that we sell, it also contains the "constuction groups" that are needed.
My append query looks to see which product is being ordered, gets the "construction groups" then looks at the other table and gets all the part numbers and quantity used in that group. It takes the part number, quantity used and appends them with an order number into another table. This works fine, however because some of the "construction groups" use the same part number I have multiple entries for some parts.
I want to be able to make it so that when there are multiple entries where the order number and part number are the same, it adds the 2 quantities and leaves only one record.
If someone out there even understands my problem could you help me. I have been trying to get this part of my db workign for a few weeks now.

Could somebody please help me! I am new to access and trying to create a database that brings together information from a number of different sources, into one large database.
I need to import a large amount of data from another access table and I would like to just cut and paste it into my table.
BUT, I can’t figure out how to add multiple rows at once to my existing table. The data that I am importing contains about 6,000 rows and 4 columns. Can anybody tell me how I can do this without having to manually create 6,000 rows, one at a time? I really do not want to do that. Thank you for your help.

hi, i am new to access and struggling so any help would be great...
i have a db with 3 tables. students contains a Primary Key ('studentid') and then 'firstname' and 'lastname' fields. The two other tables (contactdetails, coursedetails) have 'studentid' as a Primary Key and then they each have other fields.
I set up relationships between the tables (1 to 1) but i would now like to create a form that will allow me to enter data to all three tables at the same time. (this would be ideal as it keeps the data normalised) if this isn't possible i would like to create a form that adds the 'studentid' record to each of the tables.
let me know if you need anymore details but if someone can point me in the right direction it would be cool.
cheers

Hi,
This may be a dumb question, but I've got kind of a question about adding values.
I have a subform that contains a department name, and it's waste totals (in Kilograms) for the day, for a particular company. The company information is the main form.
Whenever I start a new department, the totals, and category names start blank (different departments could produce different waste).
I'm trying create a query that gives me the total value for each Category of waste. However, I keep getting all the seperate values returned?? As apposed to a total. For example.
Company A has two departments:
Office and Production.
For Office they had 20 Kg of plastic bottles and Production had 20 Kg of plastic bottles.
I want to be able to total the weight of plastic bottles...it's just not working../
?
Any advice?

To start off I have only been working in Access(2003) for the past 2 months. And Yes I am a neebie of all neebies but please read on.
What I am trying to do is for every record I need to associate multiple pictures of damages to items in for repair. For example I have an High end Amplifier that came in for repair and the outside has markings of a fire(thats one pix) then opening it up we see that the fuses, wires and PC board has fire marks also(pix two) and so on. The record is keyed to the serial number. On the form my fields are Serial number, RMA #, all the senders info (name, address, contact number, store purchased, etc.). Then I created a subform for the picture with the following the picture itself, buttons(previous, next, add pic, delete pic) a hiden textbox(serial number) that I have joined(relationship) to the major form(serial number).
How do I link the pic to that specific serial number and then other pictures that also link to that serial number.
I know its wordy but I wanted to make it as clear as I could.
Thank You
Roborro

How would I add these comments to the comments on the form without overwriting the current comments.
Comments - Memo
Contact - Text
It's quite a pain, copying and pasting from record to record.
