Copy Query, Report, Etc. To Another Database

Aug 4, 2005

Is is possible to copy queries, reports, modules, etc. from one database to another, and if so, how? I have some queries and reports in an inventory database I'd like to copy and use in another database without having to set them up or re-code them again.

Thanks,
Rod

How To Copy A Report And Point It To Its Copied Query

Jul 16, 2015

So I have this killer report that took me hours to set up. I run it daily and it is great.

I now need to filter it slightly for 1 specific user. So what I did was I copied the query and renamed it. I added the filter I needed. But I don't want to have to re-create the report. Even though I know what I need it will take quite a bit of time to recreate it.

Is there a better way? Can I copy the report (using the same query) but add the filter on the report side?

Delete A Report And Then Copy Another

Jan 21, 2005

How can I through VBA check to see if a report exists, if so, delete it and then copy another report and save it under the original name.

for example:

if the report "weekly stats" exists, delete it.
then copy (not rename) the "Weekly States Template" report to "Weekly Stats"

The reason I want to do it this way is that the report gets fields added dynamically each time it is run. I have not been able to have the report close without saving (automatically) and unfortunately, even though the user has been told to NOT save the report when prompted, they do. This would solve that problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Multiple Database Query To Sort And Report

May 5, 2006

Hi,

I need help with an access 2000 multiple queries problem.

I have the following:

Table 1 = info below / table 2 = computer types / table 3 = offices 1 through 10

field 1 = name (20 employees)
field 2 = computer (5 different type of computers)
field 3 = office (10 different offices)
field 4 = issued
field 5 = not issued
field 6 = stolen

On a form I have the 2 combo boxes (computer and office) to select and check boxes to select issued or not issued or stolen.

I need a report printed based on the multiple criteria query only showing the results that I ask for.
For e.g. in office 5, computer IBM, issued.
Print Report: lists names of all in office 5, with IBM’s, issued only!
etc.

Please help.

Database Copy Oddity

Sep 15, 2006

Alright...Our database was benchmarked by several other units. They're completely separate, i.e. independant data collection, no shared networks, different bosses.

At any rate, I made some changes to the db and created a "utility update (http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=114008)" db for these other units to use to automatically get these updates. Before sending all of this out, I received copies of these other databases to make sure that everything works properly.

Well, everything works fine except for one db. I thought originally that they must've changed something in the db, so I made a copy of ours and imported their data and got the same error as in theirs. So...obviously, I thought there must be some problem in their data. I ran through it and double-checked the verification VBA in the form used to enter the data and there's no noticeable difference in the data and the VBA/form are identical.

This might tie into my previous post (http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=114516) because there's something goofy in Access that I can't quite pin-point. As far as I know, there's no difference between any of the databases except for the data itself. Can the data be corrupted if it looks normal in the table? Would corrupt data cause an error in a query/report? (I've never run into corruption in a db before.)

Sometimes I don't like Access so much.:p

I am new at Access. I have an excisting database but i would look to copy/duplicate it from on computer to another. Because i would like to start experimenting in the excisting database, but without changing things in the real one. How would you duplicate it, because if i just 'copy' it. I have to change some pathways, but i don't know how.

Mail Merge Opening Another Copy Of Database

Dec 11, 2006

Hey Guys,

Hope you can help as this one's got me stumped!

I'm using Access 2000 and run a mailmerge function via a button on a form. (It opens Word, which then uses a query in the database to refer to and then 'automerges' into a new Word document).

It used to work absolutely fine but now it opens Word and then opens another copy of the database (so I have 2 running) and all hell breaks loose.

Any ideas what I can do to stop this? Has anyone come across this before?

Any help/suggestions would be gratefully recieved as I feel like I'm in a 'needle in a haystack of needles' situation here.

Cheers,

Rusty

Queries :: Creating Dynamic Copy Of Database

Jan 20, 2015

I have a relatively small data base.

There are a number of what I call reference tables. These are fairly static and in the main will not change.

There are a further half a dozen tables all linked together.

The system basically takes an enquiry which may lead to a repair taking place. The repair will have a number of jobs and each job may have parts replaced.

What I want to do is have an identical database which to begin with will have exact copies of all the reference tables. The remaining half a dozen tables initially will be empty but grow with time.

The user wants to be able to copy the completed repairs he selects over to the 2nd database (which is initially empty). As weeks go by he wants to select further completed jobs that have not already been copied over to the 2nd database. The 2nd database will be updated so I can't just copy over all completed repairs each time.

I had envisage him doing this by using a front end to the 2 databases and firstly selecting which of the completed jobs which haven't been copied over. This is a fairly straight forward query that will update a field on the repair table.

Once he has done this I was thinking that I could run a query that would pull all the rows from the 6 tables from database 1 and update the corresponding tables/rows on the 2nd database.

I don't actually know how to approach that. The process needs to be simple for the user. ie 1. select repairs to copy over 2. run something to copy them over.

General :: Access 2010 Split Database Hyperlinks Not Working / When Copy Of Front End Moved

Jul 14, 2014

I have built an Access 2010 split database on my computer and it functions as built. My next step was to copy it to the server at work and test it. I discovered the tables had to be re-linked and so did that. As I have read in the Access World Forums in order to function as a multi-user database a copy of the front end must be placed on the individual workstation with the back end residing on the server, however the hyperlinks in the back end will not function when the copy on the workstation is run. I simply get an unable to open "filename" error pop-up. I can run the server copy and everything functions as built. I know that the hyperlinks require all the files to be in the same folder (relative vs. absolute), but if the back end contains all the hyperlinks why does the location of the front end seem to affect the operation of the back end?
