Forms :: Access Style And Window's Style Form Border?

Nov 15, 2014

In my current database there seems to be two different types of borders in my pop-up forms! The best way to explain it is that some forms will have the Access style border while others have the glass style border that you see in windows. I can't seem to find any settings that will change this or even determine what causes it.

Tab Style Master Form - Navigation Buttons For Each Subform Within Form

Jan 26, 2015

I have created a master form, which is a tab style. I have five additional forms that I want to use as sub-forms within each tab. I also want to include master navigation buttons that will work for each sub-form in unison. In other words if I navigate to record 10 on tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I want the new tab to show the information related to record 10. It would appear that I need to link them together in some fashion.

Setting Form Border Style Using Visual Basic

Mar 10, 2005

I have a form which I use for many different tasks, in order to save database size, reuse code and keep things at their simplest.
Sometimes, I'll click a button to open the form which will only show specific filtered data in "Form" view, using a default "Dialog" border style.
Sometimes, I click another button which opens the same form, filters different data and displays the form in "DataSheet" view, but this time, I want the borderstyle to be "Sizable".

What I need is a line of VB code which will force the form to open-up with "Sizable" borderstyle, regardless of the form's Design view settings.

Something that would look like this (which obviously doesn't work):

Forms!frmFormName.Borderstyle = sizable

Does anyone have suggestions?

HELP! Copying Database Problem

Jun 27, 2005

Hello,
Excuse my inexperience, this is not my field. I am a network administrator and have never dealt with this problem before. I have been assigned the task of transferring a database (used by a security company to manage a gated community) to another system. I had to do this because the home owners association is changing security companies and they old security company is taking their computers with them. Now, I copied over all the files i could find and now that I am trying to set it up, I get the infamous error 3033, "you do not have the necessary permissions". I noticed that there is also a secured.mdw file. All i need to know is how to set up this database on a standalone system so that the new security company can access what they need. Thanks in advance for your help

Problem Copying Database From CD

Mar 19, 2006

I have experienced a problem copying a database from a CDR to the C Drive of a networked machine at work. What happens is that the Database attributes are changed to "Read Only" after being copied. I can change this easily enough but i dont want other users to have the same hassle.

This problem does not occur when i copy the same CDR to my desktop or laptop at home.

Anyone know why this might be?

Prevent Copying Of Database

May 28, 2007

Hi,
Does anyone have any ideas on how I might prevent a database from being copied. I have an application that I have set up with a number a tools to prevent exporting to an empty Access container, and from accessing the database design via the ShiftBypass feature, but the database can still be copied in its entirety. In some situations I would like to be able to add a feature to prevent this. Any suggestions?

Creating A Windows Wizard Style Form (list Boxes)

Feb 8, 2006

I am currently creating a database to link together a maintenance system and a conditional reporting system and I’ve run into a little problem.

I am trying to create a form for assigning skills to a given contractor (contractor selected via a combo box (cboContractor)) by transferring selected items from a list box on the left (lstAvailable) to a list box on the right (lstselected). (much like any windows wizard would) This is done through the 4 buttons cmdSelect, cmdSelectAll, cmdDeselect, cmdDeselectAll.

Now it has been a long time since I have had to work with VB and I am struggling a little to create the required coding to pass data from one listbox to the other.

For reference:

CboContractor takes information from tblContractor. The data is ContID and ContName and the bound column is 1.
LstAvailable takes information from tblSkills. The data is SkillID, SkillComm and SkillNotes. Bound column is 1
LstSelected will place data into tblcontskills.
Tblcontskills has the fields, tcsID, ContID, SkillID

Can anyone help or does anyone know where I can find some good examples on the net as I have browsed through the search pages here and not really found a great deal that is valid

Thankyou in advance for your help everyone

Copying Access Database To Another Computer

Feb 12, 2007

I have a database built using Microsoft Access 97-SR2. I want to copy it to another computer (my office computer). I was successful in burning the file to a CD-R disc. However, when I run the database from the disc, a message appears saying its READ ONLY-it apparently makes it Read Only automatically. I want to be able to change and edit the data and the controls, ie. forms, reports, etc. on the other computer. How can I transfer the database my other computer, without it becoming Read Only?

Any help would be appreciated

Admin Issues When Copying Database To New Network

May 24, 2007

When attempting to open an Access DB that has been transferred from one network to another (via CD and aeroplane!) we are finding that the copy cannot be edited - the access is effectively read only... I believe this has something to do with Workgroup admin rights but this area is all a bit confusing for me. What do I need to do to open the copy up for editing - allowing the recipients to administrate their copy of the DB?

We're using Access 2002.

Modules & VBA :: Copying Data From One Form Into Text Box On Another Form

May 16, 2014

What I'm trying to accomplish is some sort of 'Order Confirmation' (filled with the info i have entered in my order form and sub_form fields) that i can copy and paste as a reply to their email-order.

I have taken 2 failed approaches so far:

1) I used a report to display the info

Private Sub Command103_Click()
DoCmd.OpenReport "Order Confirmed", acViewReport, , "OrderID = " & Me!OrderID
End Sub

This worked fine until the information was copied and pasted into outlook which upon doing so changed the column titles and layout

2) I used another form with a text box to fill with the data entered on the Order form

DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_Order_Confirmation"
[Forms]![frm_Order_Confirmation]![txtConfirmation_Text] = "Ref.:" & " " & [txtCustomer_Order_Reference_Number] & [vbNewLine] & "Item No.:" & " " & [cboProductID].[Column](1)

I got stuck here when trying to reference the data in the sub form... Also each order can have one or more colours and how to allow for this?

Need Help With Copying Form Fields

Sep 9, 2005

The answer is probably in here, but I can't find it... so I have two questions.

1) On a form, I have a field with Company Legal Name and Company Trade Name, most cases the company trade name is the same as the legal name. So what I would like to do, is add a button next to the Company Trade Name field so when clicked it would automatically copy the text data from legal name to trade name.

2) Same scenario as above but with mailing and shipping address if it is the same.

Copying Controls From FORM To A REPORT?

Jan 9, 2006

I have an activex control for my digital signatures and for some reason the value is not showing up on my report, I have tryed several different ways and I was wondering if there was a way to copy the activex control and on the open of the report the value what was copyed would appear on the report. can this be done?
I believe that somehow the value is not staying in the field provided and just going directly to the table therefore I cant see it on the report. Is this possible? Thanks in advance

Modules & VBA :: Copying Value Of Text Box On Another Form

Jun 4, 2015

I'm trying to continue with my rebuild of our call answering screen. It's basically a form with a button for each company we represent, clicking the button will lead to a call answering screen for the company. we also have software that pops the correct screen when we receive a call for the corresponding company.

I'm trying to get some of the fields to autopopulate, starting with the telephone number of the caller. the number appears in a text box on the main form and I'm trying to copy it into the caller telephone box on the call answering form. I've got code in place but it gives me the error "you can't reference a property or method for a control unless the control has the focus". Here's the code for the form I'm working on...

Code:
Option Compare Database
Private Sub cmd_recordcomplete_Click()
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord
DoCmd.Close acForm, Me.Name
End Sub
Private Sub Form_Load()
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
txt_dateandtime.Value = Now
Me.txt_callertelephone.Text = Forms!Switchboard!txt_incoming.Text
End Sub
