Creating Expression On Multiple Date Fields In A Query

I am trying to create an expression in a query to sum only the # of hours a student attended between two date fields. I do not want to use a parameter because each student has different start and midpoint dates and I need to see all of them in one list.These are the fields I'm using in the query:
Student Name
Start Date
Midpoint Date
Hours
It keeps giving me "0" or if I move the () around it says the correct syntax is [NOT]
Expr1: Sum([Hours]) between [Start Date] & [Midpoint]))
I am trying to finish off my database with this last query. I have two fields named date_to and date_from, within a table tbl_non_avail . I need to show people who are available not between the from and to dates.
Hi! My question is similar to Hondasteed earlier today but a little different. I have a database that has 6 date fields. I would like to develop a query where the user enters a start and end date and the query checks all six of those fields for the appropriate dates and shows only those records who have dates in that range. The dates would change each month as we ran the query again. I would appreciate any help as this has really had me stuck and I'm guessing it's a simple solution. Thanks!
I am trying to set up a calculated field in one of my form querries, using expression builder.
In one of my source tables I have 4 date fields called Inspection date 1 to 4
I need the lowest date among those inspectinos which are in the future (next inspection) If all 4 dates are in the past or Nulls, the function should return the current date. The logic of the expression could be:
The built-in functions DMin and Dmax work with single field arrays, witch would be perfect if the database were properly designed, but now I dont have the power to change this.
I have developed a database which has required many checkbox fields to enable analysis. It requires to have the facility to input random/variable date ranges for statistical purposes.
I have built a query which obtains the counts of multiple fields using the following parameters in Query Builder in Access 2010. Although this comes up with the correct results for these multiple fields when I try introduce date range the results come up blank for all results.
An example of the parameters used for one of the checkbox fields in Query Builder is as follows:
Field: SumAnger: Sum([Anger]*-1) Table: Default as only one table Total: Expression Show: Checked
This works fine.
My latest parameters for the date range are this:
Field: [cDate] Table: Default as only one table Total: WHERE Corrected! Whoops Copy & Paste Typo. Too early AM! Show: Checked or Unchecked makes no difference Criteria: Between [From Date:] And [To Date:]
This gives a statement in SQL view of:

what I need to get this to work in Query Builder or failing that recommend some VBA script/code with embedded SQL to achieve the required report.
I am currently building a booking and invoicing database for the small business where I work. One aspect of this database allows you to enter an employee name and schedule days off via a form I have already built. To access this information I would like a parameter query where you can enter a date once and then have this date looked up across a number of date fields. Here are my table column headings:
ID Employee Name Date 1 Date 2 Date 3 Date 4 Date 5 Date 6 Date 7 ....etc
So, basically, the parameter query would ask "What date?" which the person would enter, and then search all 12 date fields to see if the date was contained in any one of them. Then it would pull any records which did have the date in one of the fields.
It seems really simple but I have searched and searched and can't seem to find the answer. Tried a multivalue field but does not seem to work.

I am creating a CAD Drawing database / Distribution list. I can only seem to distribute one drawing i.e single field to one person.Is there a way to have multiple distribtion on one field without creating multiple distribution fields?
What I have is a database which contains Drawing Numbers - I need to create a report that shows where the drawing has been distributed to, with it's current revision status and the date is was sent.I am having trouble trying to use multiple revisions and mutiple people in the distribution list with one drawing.
My query is coming along nicely, but as always once one problem is solved you find another :rolleyes: !
My problem is that I have thus far specified criteria for the field OrdDeliveryCountry, but this field is not filled in unless the delivery address is different from the default address for the customer, therefore it is frequently blank and so the query wasn't finding all records, only those where the Delivery Address was specific to the order.
I want to use the IIf function to make an expression to say (in linguistic terms): If OrdDeliveryCountry is blank, then use the country in the Customers table.

So how do I combine the IIf(expr,truepart,falsepart) with "Is Not x Or x Or x"?I.E. I need to get it to exclude records where OrdDeliveryCountry does not equal one in the list, and if that is blank then the Country field in the Customers table does not equal one in the list?

My thoughts:
Maybe I need to re-structure the WHERE clause? Would it work if the IIf expresssion was in the SELECT part not the WHERE part?
I would really appreciate some help with this: I'm not sufficiently familiar with structuring statements as complex as this and I don't know all the syntax rules etc.
I have a query that I want to return "due by 9/8/14" if the [Grace] field is blank or if the date in that field is before 9/8/14. If the date in the field is after 9/8/14, I want it to return "valid through (the date in the field)"
I wrote: MedWords: IIf([Grace]=Null,"due 9/8/14",IIf([Grace]<9/8/14,"due 9/8/14","valid through " & [Grace])) and all I get is "valid through" and either blank, or whatever date is in the [Grace] field.
In Expression Builder and other areas of Access where the fields of a query show, my fields are not showing anymore for any of my queries. Does anyone have a solution for this?
I need to figure out the amount of days between two dates that do not exist in my database...I use this calculation to do waivers...I was able to build a table and put in the two dates and then build a query which calculates the days between the two but I wanted to know if I could build a query that prompts on a [start date] which I would enter and then prompts on an end date [end date] which I would enter to get the number of days between...is that possible?

WaiverDays: [Enter start date]-[Enter end date] but it did not let me run...I added () and it still did not run...
Is it possible to select 1 MAX date from multiple date fields for a record?
For example, on an employee record there are 10 date fields, each for a performance review date. Some employees may have date fields 1-3 with values, some with just 1, others 1-5, etc.....depending on how many performance reviews they've had.
Is there a way to pull the MAX review date for an employee, knowing that the MAX date could reside in Field 1 for a certain employee, and could be from Field 7 for another?
Hello people - I am building an APPEND and DELETE Query which deletes STUDENTS in my Camera Loans database who have not borrowed a camera in more than two years.
In the query structure, under DATE_BORROWED, I put the expression <=Date()-730 (where 730 = 365 days x 2.)
However, upon running the query it gave back to me the earliest loan date of the student, (so their first loan date and details basically)
It ignores the more recent loans, so deleting this appended record would be a mistake.
Now I need an expression in a duplicated DATE_BORROWED field in the query structure that picks out the most RECENT date out of them all, the other field running the check on this most recent date to see if it is older than two years.
Surely there is some code or expression that pulls the most recent date out only of a whole series in a record? Or a criteria is performed on the rmost ecent loan only?
Hi everyone I'm a very very new access user so many apologies in advance for when I have no idea what I"m talking about.
I'm working on creating a report that will display multiple expiration dates. Currently I have an employee database, not created by me, that has all of our employees professional licenses listed.
Prof license, auto license, liability, etc.
I want to create a report that will tell me what has already expired or will expire in the next 30 days.
I did use this Between DateAdd("d",-30,Date()) and Date() and it is bringing back info up to 2009. which isn't what I need. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here.
I want anything that has expired regardless of the date from today, before today, and 30 days from today but I don't care about anything more than 30 days from today's date.
I noticed that when I looked at the existing database that the fields are set as text fields. I tried to change them to dates and it gave me a "deleting 106" records error message. Yikes!
Any help would be appreciated. I don't really understand expressions and I don't understand if I'm supposed to put the actual date in parentheses or what. Please pardon my ignorance.
I have created a form based on a query. The funny thing is when I tried to sort fields on the form, the following message box pops up:
Syntax Error (Missing Operator) In (Field Name)
I just did the exact same thing several weeks ago, and that first form could sort fields normally. The only difference between the first one and this is that this second query was based on several tables, while the first was based on a single table, although I doubt that is where the problem is.
I forgot to add that I could sort fields where the field name doesn't have spaces in it. For example, the field name "Customer ID" triggers the syntax error, while the field "S/N", "Company", etc. can be sorted like normal.
I have 10 tables, 30+ fields on each table (every table has the same 'account number' field). I only need from 5 - 20 fields from each table. How do I get the certain fields from each table and put them in a table, query or report?
I have been running 5 reports to gather company information. I then take the data from these 5 reports and manually load them into an Excel spreadsheet to calculate a grand total. I would like to be able to run a query or report within my database to get the same information. I have attached a copy of my spreadsheet for review.
Could someone please review this spreadsheet and help me design an easier method of calculating a grand total.
I have a table where I use 3 date fields in, all with different views.
Field 1: Date as dd/mm/yyyy Field 2: Quarter: q (shows the same date, but then as quarter of the year. Field 3: Year: YYYY
Now I have a form that fills all of my fields, but is there a simple way () to populate the other two fields Quarter and Year from the value I entered in Date? So if I change Field "Date", Fields "Quarter" and "Year" updates as well.
Maybe I don't need to do it in the form, but in the table?
I'm not that good with VB- scripts, and I'm not sure If it is possible to auto populate the table field Quarter and Year directly in the table itself.
I'm trying to create a query that has a calculated field that shows a maximum value from multiple fields.
As far as I can find, this is not built into Access, so I've used this code from a Microsoft page:

The problem I'm having is, well this doesn't work for me.I'm a bit of an beginner VBA coder, but I understand this code and don't know why it won't work.It only displays the value from the field within the brackets.The values used are Dates, so I need to display the latest date from multiple fields.
I am building Access (2013) database for 100+ employees to keep track of their expiry dates of visa/passport/work permits, for that to work I need to be able to search between date range to generate a report to work on. please check out the image attached as it will explain better where I am stuck, with current settings access keeps giving me empty query table as I think it searches for exact same result in all 3 fields at the same time. But I want it to search between all 3 fields and display if any of the 3 fields falls into that range.
automatically adding modified date/time to a record as it changes..I have a work log database for a team of people to keep track of workflow (documents in/out, stage in the workflow, owner of the record, etc.). I have a number of records that I want to automatically update a corresponding date/time field when it is changed. For example, one part of the workflow tracks a document through the approval of 5 different people. So I have a five records that are yes/no flags for approval and five records that are date/time for when it was approved. Right now my team is manually entering the five date/time stamps, but I'd like to have it automatically update when the check the "yes" box and update that field in the record.

I'm indifferent as to what happens with the months zeros across all three fields (whether they show up in the report with zeros or are omitted altogether).

I am writing a small program for my sons school for there athletics day. We want to register all the students on a data basis. I have a form where you capture all the child's information and then tick box for each event that there will be for the day. So we will only tick the events that the specific child will participate in. I design the table to just import the information from each school from a excel spread sheet directly into the table. What my goal is to print report for each event that will only show the child's names that has register for that specific event and all the different age groups separate. I am stuck at the query and can't seem to get my mind around how to define the query.
way to merge various fields from a table into just one using a query.The purpose will be for easier copying and pasting in to an email.So we have a table to stores information such as Site Contact, Address 1, Address 2, Address 3, Postcode etc.
I want to be able to run a query that will put the address in to just one box, either in the query or on a report then it's much easier to just highlight the full address and copy and paste it into an email. Rather than copying each field individually.
