Forms - Is It Possible To Add A Row/record Between Rows/records
Jul 19, 2005
Is it possible to add a row between rows on a form. I am creating a contact list containing phone numbers and groups. I dont want to sort the form out in ascending order, just by group order.
For example:
Joe Teacher (primary school) 12345
John Teacher (primary school) 67777
Ann Teacher (secondary school) 35555
Mary Teacher (secondary school) 388338
Sarah Nurse 373773
Tina Nurse 111111
Peter Footballer 199999
Rob Footballer 888888
I think the answer to this question is going to be a flat 'No', but here we go.
I want to have something like a datasheet, except with with records shown as columns instead or rows.
For clarity, a datasheet displays records as rows, like this:
field 1 field 2 record 1 record 1 record 2 record 2
I'm wanting to present the data the other way around, like this:
field 1 record 1 record 2 field 2 record 1 record 2
Just to complicate matters, the number of records to be displayed is variable, so it should add more columns as required.
About the only option I can think of is to create a subform with fields stacked in a column without labels, and try to dynamically stack the forms as needed, hooking them up to the correct data on the fly.
Alternately, I wondered if I could dynamically generate a recordset with each record containing the field value of multiple records. I can see myself getting into trouble trying to update data this way however.
In a situation where I imported an excel file with so many columns and split them into two temp tables and they are linked using a key.
the data has a fixed part lets say
Field1....Field2.....Filed3.....Field4...then Field5.....Field6.....Field7....Field8 is the same data range as Field9...Field10...Field11...Field12. I would want to split this data into multiple rows like this
Field 1 Field2 Field3 Field4 Field5 Field6 Field7 Field8 Field 1 Field2 Field3 Field4 Field9 field10 field11 field12 and so own...
Hello, I would like to show records in my query only if records in raw a and b are equal and they have same question id. Please let me know if you can help. Many thanks, Debbie
Is there a way to select several rows of records in a datasheet view of a table and delete all of the selected records?
Every time I try to delete more than one record at a time, I get the following message: "The Micorsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."
Then it will let me delete one record out of the selection.
I am the only one in that particular table at the time I am trying to delete the record.
I have a table of products and a table of ordersEach product requires multiple processes to completeCan I make a query that will lookup the products in the orders table and show a list of all the processes that need to be done to complete all the products on order? The bit I dont get is how can a query return multiple rows for each product?
I have attached a sample spreadsheet. Each store has a planned date which is calculated off the dates in column b and c. The second row is actual date.
As much of the data I have is in MS Access, I tried to use some extracts to appear in this format but no luck.
I have a form with a duplicate record button to allow records to be copied. I used this code (I think from Allen Browne), but it only copies the last record in the recordset?
If Me.Dirty Then 'Save any changes Me.Dirty = False End If If Me.NewRecord Then 'Check there is a record. MsgBox "Select a record to duplicate"
I have a MS Access database that tracks when packages are received, returned, etc from different agencies. I need to create a query or report that shows how many packages were received, returned, etc PER MONTH, PER AGENCY. I was able to create a query that listed all the "Date Pkg Rec'd" dates for October (Between #10/1/2004# and #10/31/2004#), but I don't want a listing of all of the dates, rather a total of the records within those timeframes PER AGENCY. For example, APHIS 10, FAS 3, etc.
The other problem I have is I need this done across many columns without excluding those records without an October date (for example) in them. For example, I could have a "Date Pkg Rec'd" date in October, but not an October date listed in the "Date Pkg Returned" column.
Basically, I need the simpliest way to generate monthly "record totals" for several fields.
I have a database that needs to post records that are joined from three different sources into a table. The query is done, and I get about 1,489 records out in 4 different states.
What I need to do is make a table with these records. Furthermore, it must be separated by state, whereas if there are less than 1000 records for each state, it must insert blank lines until it reaches then next thousandth (sp?) row (i.e. 1001, 2001, etc.), and then start posting the next state.
For example, AZ has 420 records. There has to be 580 blank lines before the query can start posting the next state, CA. At row 1001, CA starts posting, but there are only 200 records for CA so there must be another 800 blank lines before moving on to CO at row 2001, etc. etc.
I have a subquery on a table which got the previous and next rows from a table. This worked fine, until I started replacing my table with real data instead of dummy-data. I now receive the "at most one record can be returned by subquery" error every time I run it. I checked that I do not have any identical rows.
My query:
Code: SELECT z.DateFrom, z.DateTo, z.ArticleID, z.retailerID, z.Actuals, z.Statistical, (SELECT y.Actuals FROM tblActuals AS y WHERE (y.retailerID=z.retailerID) AND (y.ArticleID=z.ArticleID) AND ((DatePart("ww",z.DateFrom,2,3)-1)=DatePart("ww",y.DateFrom,2,3))) AS ActualsMin1 FROM tblActuals AS z;
I append new rows via a VBA-script from another table.
In my database I have a form who's record source is a query. That query is based on a table, and have set a criteria on one of the fields.
When I use the form to add a new record I want the value of the field in question to automatically be what I have specified in the query.
Instead, the record is added but without having that value in the field, and when I go back to the form it doesn't display the record because it doesn't meet the criteria specified in the query that the form is based on.
I've created a button on my ACCESS 2010 form that will send a PDF via email. However I only need to send the single record displayed on the form not all records.
The on click command of the button sends the PDF of the report. (I read that this is what should be sent; but still get the same results.)
I don't understand how and where to attach VBA code:
I am creating a simple data entry form wherein the user will enter the product id and on change the product description and retail price must be displayed.
When the order quantity is entered, the total cost need to be calculated. I am able to do this using DLookUp and simple multiplication.
However, after doing the above, I need another row to appear so that I can accomplish the same for another product.
For each record in my database, there are observation periods which are recorded in the format dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss, titles as follows
1st Obs Start 1st Obs End 2nd Obs Start 2nd Obs End 3rd Obs Start 3rd Obs End.
I have been asked to create a query that will quickly show how many obervation periods commenced in a particular month. What I am trying to do is create a column that will be named Obs Start, and another, Obs End. For each record ID, this would then show as follows:
I've recently decided to move a database that had all its information on 1 table and divided it into multiple tables.
Attached is the relationship as well as the form.
The issue I have is that when I click the form, it only shows a blank record with none of previous records.
Data entry is already set to NO. I'm wondering if it's an issue with my relationships, tblStudioDescription is the parent table and the others are child tables so I linked them with the ID and set referential integrity.
I am looking for a way to limit the number of rows that are added to the subform of a main form. Is there anyway that the allowable number of rows be defined using a field on the main form.
I have a form for inserting invoices, and on the subform records I have a command button to print the labels, the label would contain the quantity of the product, so, if the quantity is ex. 11000 and package contains 2000 only.
so I have to print 5 labels with quantity 2000 and one label with 1000 qty
what I need to do, is when I click the label cmd button to insert the 6 records required to print the labels to temp table
I'm building a simple access database to be used in a factory. It's pretty much there now, in the sense that it does all it needs to do, but some things feel a little "clunky". One of these things is the page where new products are created.
When a product is created the user has to specify what raw materials it's made up of and that works great, there is a continuous sub form that lets the user just add a row for every raw material. Having it as a continuous form makes sense as there can be lots of rows or just a few, so it's flexible.
Currently though the labour/time on that page works in the same way. But it feels a bit silly as there are only 3 sorts of labour (at least currently, they might add a couple more later). The labour types are..
- Build - Finishing - Handling
My question is, how would I go about turning the existing continuous row-by-row subform for labour into a single form that just listed those three types of labour (read from my labour type table)? So that it just shows a row that asks for quantity of each available labour type.
Not all products have all types of labour but it would be fine to write a 0 in the labour table for (for example) Finishing against a product that for example didn't need Finishing Labour. Obviously with the current continuous form approach no row would be written for Finishing if the user didn't select that.
I guess I could hardcode a single form to show the three current types, but ideally it would be flexible, coping with new labour types when the users find they need to add them.
