General :: Possible To Have Value In Excel 2010 Cell Used To Update Access 2010 Database

Is it possible to have a value in an excel 2010 cell be used to update an access 2010 db?

For example, if in a spreadsheet "test" cell A2=3 then in a db "test" a column "value" is 3. However, if the value in the spreadsheet changes so does the db.

Creating Word 2010 Charts Using Access Database

May 23, 2014

I am using an Access 2003 database to create a Word report that contains Graphs. We have since moved to Office 2010, and now the vba code will not select the graph and populate the data, i presume this is because the data is no longer in a datasheet but Excel itself.

General :: Difference In Size Between Actual Access Database And Its Backup

Aug 19, 2014

I am using Access 2007 database in work environment. When one of my colleagues tried to update some records in a table, it created a backup of the database.

The issue is that the size of the actual database is much smaller than the size of the backup. However all the data are present and I don't think any data has been deleted.

But I don't know why there is a difference in size?

Some of the tables in the database are linked from MS SQL Server.

General :: Automatic Backup Of Access Database With Date Added To End Of File Path

Jul 28, 2014

Just wanted to confirm which is the best way to create an automatic back up of a access DB. (Split DB, backing up the BE - Access2010)

Firstly I was thinking of just creating a batch file to copy the file to a new source directly with a task scheduler set up.

Ideally I'd like it to run daily and have the date of the back up added to the end of the filepath.

General :: Error Using Access 2010 Contacts Database Template

Jun 13, 2014

I used the Contacts Database Template to import a comma delimited txt file of contacts data. The template included a number of tables, queries, forms & reports which I did not require. I deleted them leaving only a Table entitled 'Addressbk'. I added an Entry Form using the standard access tools and this works fine with the table. However, on running the access database I get the following error message; 'The form named "Main" is mis-spelled or refers to a form that doesn't exist. My only form is labelled 'Entry Form', so it would appear that one of the forms I deleted must have been named 'Main'. If one ignores the error message the database & entry form function perfectly.

General :: Access 2010 - Database Not Responding When Fields Selected

Jan 8, 2015

For some reason our database keeps "not responding" ...

The application stops responding when:A field is selected that has a input mask

A combo box is highlighted (forcing the drop-down menu to open)

Certain buttons are pressed (in fact all but two trigger not responding, why the two buttons are immune)

if I put a break point on a section of code that runs when I press a button (any button, it doesnt matter) and I then press the button which takes me to VBA, to the break point. Then I press F5 to continue to run the code until the function ends (essentially doing nothing, just running the code to the soonest break point I can in the function and then running the rest of the code as normal...) it all works fine again!!!!

I fixed the issue by creating the function:

Code:
Sub aiuewjgaop()
End Sub

saved the database, deleted the function and then saved the database again.

However, when I close the db it prompts me to enter a password (not normal) and when I enter it it says invalid password. Also, when I try to change my password it says invalid password and when I try to compact and repair my db it say invalid password.

General :: Access 2010 Split Database Hyperlinks Not Working / When Copy Of Front End Moved

Jul 14, 2014

I have built an Access 2010 split database on my computer and it functions as built. My next step was to copy it to the server at work and test it. I discovered the tables had to be re-linked and so did that. As I have read in the Access World Forums in order to function as a multi-user database a copy of the front end must be placed on the individual workstation with the back end residing on the server, however the hyperlinks in the back end will not function when the copy on the workstation is run. I simply get an unable to open "filename" error pop-up. I can run the server copy and everything functions as built. I know that the hyperlinks require all the files to be in the same folder (relative vs. absolute), but if the back end contains all the hyperlinks why does the location of the front end seem to affect the operation of the back end?

General :: Calendar Synchronization - Access 2010 To Outlook 2010

Mar 23, 2015

I wish to work in Access 2010 with a subset of my Outlook 2010 contacts (all desktop- no network barriers), so I am exploring the Desktop Contacts DB found in Microsoft's templates. It passes contact data back and forth using the standard macros, but I wish to add more fields from Outlook. It seems I need to find the code associated with the macro. I believe I can solve the problem using a Linked table, but am wondering if there is another solution?

Calendar synchronization is another issue. Linking gets me to the Archive Calendars, but not the Current one in Outlook which is what I want.

Modules & VBA :: Creating Shapes In PPT From Access 2010

Nov 26, 2013

Here is my project: For a duty plan the employees are assigned to positions in a certain area.

For example:
Name. Position. Description. Map
Brown. 1. backdoor. 1
Miller. 3. frontdoor. 1
Norman. 4. left wing. 2
Hoover. 6. right door. 2
....

Now I want to show the positions within circles on the maps, with the names within dynamically, as the employees change every week.

The coordinates of the positions do not change, but not every position is needed in every duty plan.

So, my idea is to draw all possible shapes on all possible maps and make them visible or not depending on the assignement.

The duty plan is my table in access and looping through all records I would like to fill the needed shapes.

All maps are on slides (40 slides and about 400 positions) and should be filled accordingly.

I can open my presentation, although I only could do it by late binding ( a reference to ppt 14 obj. Lib fails with an error!! - why??) but I cannot any solution how to loop through the records and do the job.

Creating Report With Pie Chart In Access 2010

Nov 25, 2014

I am working in Access 2010, trying to create a report with a pie chart. The pie chart is based on a query (called Count Pie) that calculates three values:

% IS
% NetInf
% IS + NetInf

I go into Create, Report Design and get a blank report in Design View. I select Chart from the Controls tab and follow the Wizard to specify the data source.

I get a pie chart with the right title (Count Pie). I double-click on the chart to open the report Datasheet and insert the correct value names. My pie chart in Design View looks correct. It has the right title and legend, and shows three slices of the pie corresponding to the three values.

I save the report, and go to Print Preview, where I get a pie chart that looks like a single circle; it has no legend, and doesn't show the three values.

Do I need to have the Access 2010 application re-installed?

Access 2007 Backup Menu Won't Back Up My Database

Jan 23, 2008

I'm using Access 2007, with what I think is a normal database that I've built up over the past month (maybe 15 tables, <1000 records, 20 queries, 4 or 5 reports and macros). I'm not an experienced Access programmer, so I don't think I'm doing anything fancy with security settings or any other such stuff. (If I have, it's surely by accident, not by intent.)

When I try to back up the db using the simple office button -> manage -> backup method, access generates a date-stamped backup filename and opens a file save dialog for me, but it ALWAYS fails to backup the database. I always get the same error message when I click save, whether I save on my machine, or on a network drive.

"Could not use '<path to the current database dir><backname>.accdb; file already in use."

This same error occurs when I create a new blank database with a single Table1 in it, so I don't think it's my database.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I scoured the net for help, but nothing. I checked various Access forums, but nothing. So I arrive here after I've done my homework... thanks

Queries :: Creating Particular Calculation In Access 2010 Query

Dec 9, 2013

I have played with this problem for 3 days and have come close but not quite solved it. My problem, I have several drivers delivering several orders, the orders are named 101, 102 and so on lets say to 150. Due to locations of the drivers, some deliver more orders then others. I want to be able to create a report that looks like

"Driver #1 101 - 106"
"Driver #2 107 - 110"

Driver 1 delivered 6 orders. Driver #2 delivered 4 orders and so on.

I have tried the 'count" which gives me the number of orders per driver but having trouble figure out the design of the calculation in the query.
