General :: Cannot Open Database Error When Make Table Option Selected
Sep 28, 2012
I linked table rawdata from a database called competitor from a ODBC Database. I run a query with to make a table with a criteria where it retrieves roughly 10 columns with 719,000 rows. And it gives me this error.
(Cannot open database". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
I asked the creator of the database and they said the database grows automatically and it was created with the same Access version as i am using to run the query.
Also when I do a RUN without creating a table and just selecting and displaying the data it does not give me any issues.
I have a 2003 .mdb file and the associated Workgroup Information File which normally resides on a network in a folder V:V-Base-DatabaseDATA. I have the Workgroup Information File.
The database is unsupported and we need to migrate the data to a new web based database.
When I try to open the database with the shift key down I get the following message :
You do not have the necessary permission to use the V:V-Base-DatabaseDATAV-Basebe.mdb object.
What is the best way to access the data and do I need to do this on the server instead of a local drive off site?
I'm looking for VBA code.Basically I have a drop down with 3 options on a form but need it to pull up a window to input depending on which option is selected. One selection of the options if selected will not require the input of data, as it can just input a set value or be left blank (haven't totally figured how I want to display it). With all this I will need it to display on a form in a certain format, in which I would like the drop down value displayed with the data inputted, though with the one option without data just would display drop down value.
Creating a database for processing survey data into a report format. We receive these reports as paper copies, which are then scanned in using Remark Office OMR. This results in a table of data, which is intended to be appended to the existing table in the database using Save As --> Access 2007, selecting the database and target table, clicking save as, and then selecting 'Append' from the subsequent popup.
What I want to know is: Is it possible to disable/otherwise prevent the 'Overwrite' option in this window from being selected? Can I make the table or database in such a way that data can only be added, not edited or deleted?
What I am trying to do is create a master table which references the every other table. But the primary key references another primary key.I can get the combo box to display all the options, buy shows options already selected for other records.in other words...
I have 4 reference IDs from table A. (ID1, ID2, ID3, ID4)
Master_Table has a combobox to select between the IDs. if record 1 has ID_1 Record 2's combobox will show all 4 IDs If I only have 1 ID that can be put into record 4, it's combobox still displays all 4 IDs.
What I want is: If ID3 is selected for record 1, it wont be displayed in the comboboxes for the other records.
I have built a database and setup my Queeries and Reports and setup my securities. What I want to do is make the Form open from a short cut. I can create the short cut with the security privilages but after the proper name and password is entered I want it to open straight into the Form. How do I get my database to do this?
Is there a way to make the shutter bar be closed on database open?
I already have an autoexec macro to take people to a main menu, but would like to ensure the shutter bar is closed for aesthetics and to keep people away from clicking on something.
I am using access 2010 and have made a simple database for the company I work for. This consists of the a table of the raw data and a form to make the data printable.
I have been asked by our admin person if I can make it possible to be able to print labels from it. I know it is possible via the wizard but very limited.
What we really need is to be able to select the people from the table that we want labels for.
I have added a true/false check box to the table called 'label?'
For some reason our database keeps "not responding" ...
The application stops responding when:A field is selected that has a input mask
A combo box is highlighted (forcing the drop-down menu to open)
Certain buttons are pressed (in fact all but two trigger not responding, why the two buttons are immune)
if I put a break point on a section of code that runs when I press a button (any button, it doesnt matter) and I then press the button which takes me to VBA, to the break point. Then I press F5 to continue to run the code until the function ends (essentially doing nothing, just running the code to the soonest break point I can in the function and then running the rest of the code as normal...) it all works fine again!!!!
I fixed the issue by creating the function:
Code: Sub aiuewjgaop() End Sub
saved the database, deleted the function and then saved the database again.
I have created a Db in MS Access 2010 and under Options > Current Database I have done the following:
- Used drop down to select a form I want to display on opening - Unchecked display navigation pane - Unchecked allow full menus
This works how I want it to, perfectly. I then send it to a client who also has MS Access 2010 and when they open the file the form I have told it to open doesn't open, the navigation bar is displayed (with the form I want to open highlighted) and the full menus show but are locked.
What's going on? Is it some security setting the client has that isn't letting the opening procedure execute properly?
I have an option button for a field [Fully Paid] (Yes/No) in my LoanT and i want to know if it's possible for my database to automatically choose an option depending on a calculated field
(Calculated field from another query) = [Outstanding Balance]
Say... if [outstanding balance] is = 0 or negative (refundable), then Yes should be On, if not it should remain No/off so that i wouldn't have to go over every record and manually choose the option
The option button is very useful when i want to display loans which are Paid and/or still active. How do I go about this?
When I launch my Database file, it would normally run some scripts (I don't actually know what they do, the file is not used by me, only colleagues).
Instead i get this error:
The expression On Load you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events.
When I click 'OK' another error appears:
The expression On Timer you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events.
Once i click 'OK' on this error, another error sometimes occurs:
The expression MouseMove you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events.
But strangely enough the third error doesn't occur every time i move the mouse.
After these errors have been closed, all i have is my 'form' with a loading bar. I cant access the actual database. Nor can i get into the Visual Basic to try and find the cause. This is happening to multiple clients of mine, and me personally.
Running Windows 7, Server 2008 (64bit), Windows 7 (64bit) Running Access 2007 and Access 2010.
I have tried changing permissions on the file, this doesn't work.
hi i get the error "The database is already opened exclisively by another user" after running the following code. i ran the same code under the same conditions on my home pc and it worked fine.
Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim dbs As Database Dim qdf As QueryDef Dim strSQL As String
Set dbs = CurrentDb strSQL = "update Emp set Salary = 786+ val(text2)- val(text3) where EmpID = '& val(text1) &'" Set qdf = dbs.CreateQueryDef("", strSQL)
My database is replicated. When new fields are added to a table that is tagged as replicable, the field is there but not visible. (there are other fields that are visible) This affects queries based on the new fields as they do not show up in the query.
However, when I make the table non-replicable, I see all my previously hidden fields and of course my queries, query-based reports work fine.
Any suggestions? I've already run the compact & repair utility with no improvements.
Hi, I am not able to open database in access2003 because of error 3197. Everytime when trying to open ,the same message appears on the screen:
"The Microsoft Jet engine database stopped the process because you and another person are attempting to change the same data at the same time".
I have tried to import that file in the new database, but that doesn't work. Even when my copy the database on other machine, same error message come up. Some one suggested it might have to do with enabling the database for multiuser access but i can't even open the database.
Does anyone know how to open the database with error 3197?
I want to make inventory fifo(first in first out) db. Example:

I dont know how to make transaction to do this....
the following error message appears when trying to access my database. I can't seem to get into it at all, not even by trying to import the data tables over into a new database. the following message appears:
"The database has been converted from a prior version of Microsoft Access by using the DAO Compact Database method instead of Convert Database Command on the Tools Menu. This has left the database in a partially converted state. If you have a copy of the original format use the convert Database on the Tools menu to convert it. If the original database is no longer available, create a new database and import your tables and queries to preserve your data. Your other database applications can't be recorded''..
the copy and the back up wont let me in either, this just suddenly happened.
Now he can get into the SFTP folder, but when he uses the shortcut, he gets an error stating Microsoft Access couldn't find the file ServerName.ACCT05.us.companyabbreviation.comSha reNameSFTPSFTPWorkgroup.mdw 1" "C:SFTP Database V2.1 FESFTP Database V2.1 FE.mdb" (Note the space and 1)
I created a new shortcut, and I was able to open the db using his target line, even though I can use the shorter one. For the new user, this still generates an error.
Whenever I open the form 'TrainingF' I get the 'Enter Parameter Value' msg box. I tried to look online but could not get rid of it. I have attached the file.
On my form I have an option group with 4 radio buttons. Depending on the button selected certain fields become visible. This works all fine. Problem is though that I don't know how to store the selected value. At the moment, every time you open the form you have to select the same button to see the info stored in the fields that become visible. I guess that I'll have to somehow store the value for the selected buttons in the table. But How? Do I refer to the frame and store the value corresponding to the number of button (1, 2, 3 or 4) or do I store the balue for each button seperately? I've played with it for too long now and cannot find the golden tip. Please advice.
