General :: Phone Number Changing By Itself In Table Field
Aug 14, 2013
In Access 2002, I have a Phone Number field (Text) that is meant to store (obviously enough) phone numbers. However, when I enter 2009 as the last four digits (ex. (555)-555-2009) the number is changed to (555)-555-2010. This also occurs if I enter the number directly into the table (which doesn't have an input mask). I have tested it in a new form (even without input mask), and a new table, which both result in the exact same thing.
I am trying to change the data type of a field in a table from calculated to something else. It gives me the error "this data type cannot be changed once the field has been saved"
hi Iam new to this can anyone help i want to be able to enter phone numbers the code that ive found only seems to allow me to enter first 3 numbers were actually the areA code has 4 can any one give me correct formula
Greetings... I am setting up a text box to accept a phone number with an input mask of 000-000-0000;0;_ but it isnt doing quite what I want it to do, I would like it to start at the begining when clicked to prevent the error of a user typing in the number a space too far to the right. (right now it places the cursor where ever the user clicks, which becomes a major pain when you want to just be able to click the field anywhere and type from left to right for sake of speed)
I have a list of about 900 phone numbers, which have been formatted in excel to have a 0 at the beginning of the phone number. However when i export the data to access, so it can be viewed on a webpage this formatting is lost.
How best can i go about adding a zero at the beggining of all of the phone numbers in my list? Can it be done using sql or is there another function in access that can do this.
I currently import data into a table and it it has a text field which looks like this: 12,345.67 GBP...I need to use a query to make this a number field so that I can sum it's contents. I've managed to remove the 'GBP' part but can't seem to get rid of the comma?
This might be simple but I just can't figure it out.
I have a table that has a number field. Everytime I enter the number 1.50, it changes to 2. I would like to keep the 1.50. Somehow, I can't get this right. Is there a setting that I have to change? Would I need to make setting changes on the form portion also?
Ok I have an excel spreadsheet with over 6000 phone numbers that I need to import into a table. I have set up my field with an input mask to display a phone number as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. I have also set up my excel spreadsheet to have the numbers set up like 1234567890 to make it easy to throw in and let the input mask take over. My question is: I have some numbers that have an extension and are set up as 1234567890 x 102. I can take out the "x" and have all of the numbers run together, but what is the input mask syntax to have it display as say "(xxx) xxx-xxxx ext.xxx"?
I have the following VBA code to search for a string
Code: 'Search by Phone Private Sub CmdSearchPhones_Click() Me.Refresh strSQL = "SELECT Tbl_Contacts.ContactID, Tbl_Contacts.FName, Tbl_Contacts.LName, Tbl_Contacts.Address, Tbl_Contacts.City, Tbl_Contacts.State, Tbl_Contacts.Zip, Tbl_Contacts.HomePhone, Tbl_Contacts.WorkPhone,
[Code] .....
My issue is that this works 50/50, because phone numbers on the database are NOW being stored in this format (000) 000-0000 and previous DB phone numbers got stored as 0000000000. The above code finds previous DB phone numbers (even if we dont enter all 10 digits) without a problem but has issues with new phone numbers stored in the new format UNLESS I specify the search with (000) 000-0000 (but we want to be able to search without adding that and without typing all 10 digits - in case we forget part of the number we are looking for)
How can I tell my query to find both formats, with the (000) 000-0000 AND 0000000000 ....
the phone rings.. the phone is connected to the computer.. the incoming caller's phone number is sent to the database.. and then possibly used in some way..(eg in a query or displayed on the screen in the database)
anyone had any experience in this process or can recommend a phone/cable setup url...
I have a mail merge from Access into Word that works great except for a baffling problem with phone number formatting. Instead of (987) 654-3210, on certain records the merge produces 9876543210. I cannot identify a pattern to explain it, but it is not random. Certain records consistently leave the format behind on the phone number, some on the fax number, and some on both. This problem is affecting about 1/3 of the contact records. I have the Input Mask on Phone and Fax in the table set to !(999") "000-0000;0;_. Is anyone familiar with this problem?
The calculation works fine; however, I only want to show the whole number (not rounded up; not rounded down). In other words, if the result is 0.9967, then I want 0 to appear.
I cannot figure out how to make this happen. In the properties section I ensured the format was "general number" with 0 decimal places but this didn't change the result. I tried changing the format in the calculated field, again, I wasn't successful.
I'm trying to get an invoice number field to auto generate the next number, keeping the format as "00000"...this is what I have, which gets the next number but drops the leading 0
Code:
Private Sub Customer_AfterUpdate() If Len(Me.[InvoiceNumber] & vbNullString) = 0 Then Me.[InvoiceNumber] = (DMax("[InvoiceNumber]", "[tblInvoiceNumber]") + 1) DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord End If End Sub
invoice numbers are 04024, 04025 etc...how I keep the formatiing?
I have an excel spreadsheet linked to a table n Access. I have phone numbers that I would like to transfer. I set a format in Excel that made it automatically change to the (###) ###-####, but when I look on the table in Access it shows up ###-#######.
I'm having a problem changing the hyperlinks in my access table.the hyperlinks point to locations of various documents on the server i.e. Server Quality DocumentsDoc1.docx
we have 2 domains at work so on one domain the hyper link works but on the other it doesn't.I did a find and replace so i have formatted all hyperlinks as such..Server.mydomain.localQualityDocumentsDoc1.doc x
However, this approach hasn't worked as it has only altered the 'text to display' and not the actual address (if i right click the hyperlink -> edit hyperlink the address is still ServerQualityDocumentsDoc1.docx).Is there away to change the Address fields of all the hyperlinks in one go?
I have a access 2007 file. with a table with a yes/no field. When I link the table to another db using lnked table manager, the yes/no display is not a checkbox (as set) but is turns into textbox.
I have made a table and quered that table. I have a form that I designed and is working well. It updates the table like it is supposed to. The problem I have is when I go in and change the master table. I decided that instead of havinga field titled "Unlisted/Listed" I just made it Listed and you put a yes or no. But when I do that and go back to the form a box pops up asking for some value. How do I fix this? Thank you.
I am creating a database where I will select recipes from one table and then create a shopping list through related ingredients from another table. I want to be able to clear all selected recipes before I start a new class.
For example, I have 100 recipes and am using 10 this week, but next week i am using a different 10. To create a new grocery list I want to clear all of this week's selected recipes before selecting the new bunch of recipes.
Is there a way (I am assuming a macro would be used) to insert a command button that would change all y/n values of the recipes table to no?
I am building a database to enter staff phone statistics. As an example my fields would be - Name, Date, Staffed time, Available time, Aux time and then calculated fields to show the percentage of time i.e %Aux, %Available etc.
My problem is the formatting of the times entered as they are duration not time. Say staffed time is entered as 08:00:00 for 8 hours and Aux time 03:57:21. The only format I can see to suit is date time but then Access takes these entries as 8am and 3:57am is there a way to change this to work as duration hh:mm:ss?
So... I have the pivot table with the following columns...
Sum of Numerator, Sum of Denominator, and a computed field for Rate
My Rate calculation is: iif(Denominator = 0, Null, Numerator/Denominator)...
I have at least 15 of these rates (numerator, denominator, rate) on the same report..it works fine, but my business analyst has clarified the Rate requirement that if the denominator is 0 then the Rate should display 0 (instead of Null)..
When I change my Rate computed field to iif(Denominator = 0, 0, Numerator/Denominator) and press the "Change" button all the numerators and denominators on the pivot table are blanked out... I've refreshed the pivot table and everything; but, I can't stop this from happening. why the heck can't Access' pivot table be as robust as Excel's ???
