Hotkey For Toggling Between Field Row In Table Design View And Its Field Properties?

Feb 15, 2013

I am making a new Record in the design view of a table (creating a new field in the table), and I am assigning it a date type, is there a hotkey that will select the field properties sheet so that I can select the format of the field without having to move my mouse?

Field In Design View Not Showing In Table View

Jul 2, 2007

I have a table called NewTransactions_tbl that I have been using for some time. I am trying to add a new field called CustomerProjectNumber. It's not being displayed when I look at the table view. I've attached an image showing the settings for the field. I am probably missing something obvious.

Any ideas why it is not showing?

I am using Access 2000.

Forms :: Unable To View Object Properties In Form Design View (Access 2010)

May 16, 2014

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?

I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.

I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.

Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

I run a query daily and have to alter the date in the design view (as below).

>=#01/04/2013# And <#11/03/2014#

All I want is for the query to run 2 days behind, so for example today is the 12/03/2014, I use the above, and then daily change this every day.

Tables :: Set Validation Rule For Unit Field In Design View

May 1, 2013

I have two tables in Access 2010:

Tbl1 - Abbreviations: with fields (1) "Abbreviation" and (2) "Definition"
Tbl2 - Piping: with multiple fields one of which is "Unit"

In Design View of Tbl2, I'd like to set the "Validation Rule" for the "Unit" field so that it is restricted to values in field 1 of the Abbreviations Table (i.e. one of the listed abbreviations").

I tried variations of "[Tables]![Abbreviations]![Abbreviation]" in the "Validation Rule" portion of the Design View for Tbl2 (Piping) but, couldn't get this to work.

Reports :: How To Include Quotation Marks Around The Field In Design View

Jul 1, 2014

I have a table in Access 2010 containing the results of a survey. One of the fields in table is the actual quotes from customers who gave direct feedback. I have created a simple report containing all of the quotes. My manager would liek them included in a summary Word doc but wants quotation marks around every quote. It's too many to manually after the report is exported to Word. Is there a way to include quotation marks around the field in the report design view?

Table Field Properties - Bound Column Only Accept Numeric Value?

Oct 22, 2014

I try to put an expression for the property "bound column" so that my lookup values will be directly dependent on one of attribute's choice

I have got four options for my attribute. Each option will use a slightly different set of lookup values. I save all four sets in another table.

Then in my properties definition I refer directly to this table as lookup base. When I put bound column number equal to an expression so as to choose the right column of lookup values it refuses. It seems that it does notl ike anything other than a numeric value.

If that's a no-go, I am not sure how to achieve what I try to do then?

Essentially I have a table that 4 attributes: QID,itemID,CatType,Catchoice

CatType can have only 4 values. Each value will make Catchoice take on a different set of combo values

The problem I am having is that I am stuck at the Catchoice lookup definition because it is dependent on what kind of CatType the user picks.

Design View Keyboard Shortcut - Expand Columns In Design View Of A Query

Jun 5, 2014

I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut to expand the columns in "design view" of a query.

What I mean by this is rather than selecting all of the columns and double clicking to see the entire text, I'd like to be able to a shortcut.

The entire process as I see it involves 3 steps so I will need thesolution to the 3rd step.

(1) [ctrl+spacebar] to select initial column
(2) [shift+arrows] to select all of the columns I need
(3) [keyboard shortcut] will expand all of the columns "field" names to the size of the column heading

Alternatively, if you know of a shortcut that will expand the columns without having to select them first I'll take it!!

Design View - Where'd The Table View Go ?

Apr 18, 2008

You know how normally in design view there would be a table at the bottom of the screen where you can drag your fields from the view above.

Well, I have a query where this table view has disappeared ?

I can edit the query in SQL view, the query works, just the table view is missing.

Ever happened to anyone else ? I've done the obvious and scrolled down as far as I can and nope, it's not there ???

Table Field Design Help !!!

Apr 30, 2005

Recently I'm helping a friend to convert his MS-Excel spreadsheet into MS-Access. I met a problem and need some help on defining the table fields.

In one of spreadsheets, he gets 3 columns, the 3rd column values is calcuated by a formula based on the previous two entries as the followinf: D3= C3+B3

When I tried to turn this table into MS-Access design, I don't know how to define the 3rd column (field).

Is there any chance I can set any expression/formula for 3rd field in the table defnition to retrieve data from previous columns( I don't want to design this function in the query)?

Many thanks
