Modules & VBA :: Document Could Not Be Registered / Unable To Open Macro Storage
Oct 31, 2013
I have a VBA program which is stored in an Access database. The program creates letters using Word template documents as well as new Excel sheets. When one of the users in my team undertakes this process she is unable to create the files (although she could before). The following error message occurs initially for the word documents:
"The document could not be registered word 2010. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to the document"
When I enter debug and attempt to run the code again the file opens but subroutine halts again and I get a different message:
"Could not open Macro storage"
The line of code which is identified for both errors is:
Set wdDoc = wdApp.Documents.Open(TemplateLocation)
Where wdDoc is the a Word.Document, wdApp is a Word.Application and TemplateLocation is the path for the template
I have already checked the following:
- 'Trust access to the VBA project object model' in the Trust centre is ticked and Macro Security is set to none.
- DCOM Server Process Launcher is set to automatic in Services (Local)
Hi My database is to have a Personnel data area whereby I can store all relevant details for employees within the company. I plan to incorporate a feature whereby I can alos maintain a history of documentation written and issued including links to the actual documents for that employee during their time with the company.
Has anyone done a similar thing they would be willing to allow me to use? I figure this would contain links to work documents stored on the hard drive in a specific folder. Selection of a specific item from a historical list - would invoike Word /similar and display the appropriate file...
Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thank you.
The code below allows me to open a publisher document that is already merged to the current record. What I need is to allow the user to open the document according to the group they are reviewing. How to accomplish this?
For example:
IF Group = A1 OR B1 THEN OPEN AB_1.pub IF Group = A2 OR B2 THEN OPEN AB_2.pub IF Group = A3 OR B3 THEN OPEN AB_3.pub
Dim pubApp As Publisher.Application Dim pubDoc As Publisher.Document Set pubApp = New Publisher.Application Set pubDoc = pubApp.Documents.Add.Application.Open("c:Publishe rAB_1.pub) pubDoc.ActiveWindow.Visible = True
I was tasked to create an application where by the user enters keywords into an Access form, and when he clicks the button, it will run the keywords against the file names stored in the table and automatically open the Word document that is the best match.
I have created a table query called Directory, which contains FPath (Z:), FName (Document1.doc) and Directory (Z:Document1.doc).
Code: Private Sub Command2_Click() Dim wrdApp As Word.Application Dim wrdDoc As Word.Document Dim filepath As String Dim strSearch As String
If IsNull(Me.txtSearch) Or Me.txtSearch = "" Then MsgBox "Please type in your search keyword.", vbOKOnly, "Keyword Needed"
[Code] ....
This is the code that I am currently using to search and open the Word documents, however, this code only manages to open Microsoft Word program without loading any documents. Also, there are no error messages when I click the submit button.
I am running Office 2010 but at one time also had Office 2013 installed on my Windows 7 64 bit OS PC. The first attachment (AccessProblem) shows the error message that I get when it hits the
Set olApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
line. I get the automation error - library not registered error. The second attachment (Access2Problem) shows the references that I have.
I am trying to write a more complex macro that will start another macro at a preset time, however I am getting stopped at the first hurdle - getting a macro to run another macro.
Here is the code i am using at the moment, all I want to do currently is click the first button, then get the second macro to execute. But no luck, getting error 2157 "cannot find the procedure"
I am creating a database for someone which includes a mail merged document with some data from the database. Is it possible to allow the user to open the document by clicking on a button that will be on the Switchboard in the database, so that they do not have manually open the document? Hope this makes sense!
I want to create a new word doc, do a saveas to a specific path and file name, allow the user to edit the new doc, and then close it and return to the Access app. I can create the doc but Word opens without opening the New Savedas Doc. using this code
Dim oApp As Word.Application Dim WordDoc As Word.Document Set oApp = CreateObject("Word.Application") Set WordDoc = CreateObject("Word.document") oApp.Visible = True WordDoc.SaveAs ("TS-" & Me.Scriptnum & ".Doc")
In access database, Is there anyone know how use macro to open a word document on a share drive..(example S:safetyRegulation.doc)?.
Here is what I did and it doesn't work.. Runapp command line: C:Program FilesMicrosoftOfficeOfficeWINWORD.EXE //S:safetyRegulation.doc. Is there any easier way to do this? Please advice..thanks Rob..
I am creating a database. I have all my forms, queries, tables, reports just as I need them. However, I would like to have a command button on my switchboard that will pull from a query to feed to a Word document (that's actually a letter on my company letterhead). I know a Macro has to be involved with this, but again, I have little to no knowledge of Macros. Also, I would like to be prompted to enter a client ID number when I click on this command button (because I only want to print a letter for a new client, not all of them).
I have an access form that fills an access table (MS Access 2003). Also, I have a Word (2010) document/template with some template text and empty fields which should be filled with data from access. Is it possible to insert a button in access form which would open a word document and populate appropriate fields with data from that form?
I am trying to open a word document with corresponding data filled from the text field of a form. I managed to get the word document but I don't know how to give a variable in word document.
I have two databases that have been split, and both back ends are in a shared folder on the server that only a few people have authorization to access. One of the front ends is accessed off another shared folder, and the other is saved to each person's desktop. They have been up and running for months, and I've had no problems with users not being able to access data from the back end.
The other day, I requested access to this protected folder for four people, which was granted. But, since the time it was granted, neither database will open unless the user has authorization to access the protected folder. They get an error that says the database is already opened exclusively or they don't have authorization to view its data.
I've created another test db and split it into the same folder, but my users are getting the same error.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
I got this message after I install the "SMTPSVG.DLL" that i got from http://www.serverobjects.com/comp/Aspmail3.htm What should I do?
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x8d8 Thread 0x994 DBC 0x240303c Jet'.
Hi, I'm trying to connect to SQL Server Express from MS Access 2003.
I've created an ODBC data source and tested it within the ODBC Wizard. It successfully connects to the SQL Server database.
From within MS Access, I choose File > Get External Data > Import and I'm presented with a dialogue for choosing the data source. As soon as I choose ODBC from the Files of Type drop-list, the dialogue disappears. No error-message, nothing!
When trying to set a password I receive the following message.
You must have the database open for exclusive use to set or remove the database password.
To open the database exclusively, close the database, and then reopen it by clicking the File tab and using the Open command, In the Open dialog box, click the arrow next to the Open button and then select Open Exclusive.
When I follow the instructions, I don't get a dialog box. How do I set a password?
I am trying to open a report (with subreports) from a form. When the report opens, I want the form to hide, which most of the time does. Sometimes, though, it won't hide when the report opens. So, I even created an error handler, and moved that part of the code to SubExit section, but the problem still occasionally occurs. Here is my code:
Code: Dim strWhere As String Dim strDate As String Dim strDist As String On Error GoTo ErrHandler strDate = "=DateSerial(" & Year(Me.txtAsOfDate) & "," & Month(Me.txtAsOfDate) & "," & Day(Me.txtAsOfDate) & ")" strWhere = "YearEnd = " & Year(Me.txtAsOfDate) - 1
I have created a database in Access 2010 and I am not able to open the same database in Access 2007. I have read somewhere that it is possible to open. I get the message, " Unrecognized database format". In Access options, the default file format is, "Access 2007".
Not sure if this is the correct forum but its worth a shot.
When I try to open any database, MS Access will hang if there is already another instance msaccess.exe running. I even tried opening two newly created blank dbs with the same result. Has anyone ever come accross this behavior?
I have tried repairinging/reinstalling/checking and unchecking "Windows in Taskbar option"
I am attempting to create a Macro that will export the COMPLAINT table to an Excel Spreadsheet. However Excel does not open and I am prompted to select the Program I want to use. What am I doing wrong?
Hi All Can someone help me with opening a form from another form using the OnDblClick event and to open the form using the data in the record to open it at the same record. ie Site Name = CP House so the form opens with CP House data showing, Site Name = St James so the form opens with St James data showing etc. Thanks ChrisD
Hello, I have a form that I will need to allow users to be able to go back and find a specific record and edit it. I have a control number to uniquely identify each record. I have a main data entry form where the subform has the unique value in it. Can I run a macro to ask the user what control number they are looking for and then open the data entry form to that specific record?
I really hate being stupid about this, but I'm running around in a circle and it's making me dizzy. All I want is a simple macro that opens a form (with a subform) at a new record from a button. I know I am missing something obvious so I will let others see if they can find out what has gone wrong. The current macro is:
On the property sheet of the form the following are all set to yes: Allow Filters, Allow Edits, Allow Deletions, Allow Additions, Data Entry (I suspect the problem is here) Record Locks is set to No Locks.
When I open the form from the button, it looks right, and I can enter the transaction information, but when I try to enter the subform information or save it , I get "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find a record in the table 'NewContacts_tbl' with key matching field(s) 'ContactID'". I get the same message with Allow Data Entry set to no.
And yes the key field IS there, in spite of what the Microsoft Jet database says.
I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the holidays and thanks to all of you for your past help and my current (relative) sanity.
I need to find a way to close a file (spreadsheet) if it was left open by a user before my scheduled macros need to delete and remake that file to update it. Is there a way to do this in Access? I've been looking for scripts everywhere... Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick.
I'm very new to access database and I'm trying to create a macro that allows the user to enter data after seeing a mistake in a form. I need a macro that will open the specific table and record of a piece of data. For example there is a student TestName3 whose grade on a competency is 30% but should really be 45%. I want a macro by the competency percentage to allow the teacher to edit that without looking through the entire table. The macro should prompt first to ask if the teacher is sure they would like to edit, second prompt asking for the student's unique ID number, and finally be taken to the specific record and table related to that competency.
I have tried to use a vastly overcomplicated DLookup and Order column to give me the value for a acGoTo search.
Here's what I have.
Option Compare Database
Dim answer As String Dim response As Object Dim gotoresponse As Object
Private Sub Command71_Click() On Error GoTo Command71_Click_Err
