Modules & VBA :: Add Code To Refresh Form After Change?
Feb 26, 2015
I'm working with a form someone else created and am adding a delete button. I've managed to add the button and get some code working which will delete a record from a table. The problem I'm having is that after the delete operation occurs all fields in the form, and the corresponding items below the form, show #Deleted in all fields. How can I force a refresh using code?
I want to call commandbutton1,2,3 after every 10 seconds automatically but following code doesn't do that.
Code: Private Sub UserForm_Initialize() 'Update the Barcodes printed today Call CommandButton1_Click 'Update batches to be scanned / batches scanned today Call CommandButton3_Click 'Update files batched and counted today Call CommandButton2_Click Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:00:00"), "GoToSub" End Sub
I have a table called "EquipmentRequired" which is populated by 4 append queries,
5000BaseReq, 6000BaseReq, 6000IFBBReq, EquipmentReq which get some of their information by counting fields in another table but all have the same field names.
The queries contain all data that is initially used to append new records to the table and this works fine.Unless some information changes or a record is added then I would like to add a button to a form and call it "update equipment" behind which would run a vba code firstly to delete all the records in "EquipmentRequired" table then run the 4 queries without the warnings and re-populate the table.
what's it? I want to open the same form with different buttons (cos different criteria are attached to those buttons). When i click i want the background to change based on the button.
So im asking for just one line of code: What's the vba to change background property of a form dynamically. cna't seem to find it :o
I have an close button on a form that is supposed to Refresh the subform of a different form and then close the form with the close button.
frmOperations - no refresh / requery subfrmPlants - Needs to be refreshed / requeried
frmPlants - Needs to be closed
Currently the button effectively closes frmPlants, but it's failing to refresh the data on my subform to display any changes that have been made on frmPlants. I've tried with refresh and requery, neither seem to work.
Code:
Private Sub lblClose_Click() If CurrentProject.AllForms("frmOperations").IsLoaded Then Forms!frmOperations!subfrmPlants.Form.Refresh End If
DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmPlants", acSavePrompt End Sub
I have a main form that the user will enter data. Once they hit a submit button, it saves the record and I was hoping it would also refresh the form in which is populated by a query. The form that is linked to a query will be displayed on a monitor 24/7. It will display pending orders. So I was hoping as new orders are placed, the query would display them without needing to be closed and then reopened.
Here is the method I'm using but it's not working.
The Header and footer are not linked. The Footer simply displays all the existing bookings for said ouse/Room/Date combination. (Date being all dates between the StartDate and EndDate) BUT (surprise, surprise)users don't look at this to check if a booking already exists.
Also - It seems pointless to have the users enter the same data (House, Room, UserID) in 6 times (one for each day that they want to book the room.
So I am trying to automate the process.
Therefore, I append each 'new' record (that the users adds in this session) into a temporary table. (House / Room / UserID / StartDate)....note, no end date because I need a separate record for each day.
I have a query that is supposed to check the EXISTING bookings with the temp table. My code (paraphrased here for simplicty) says
do while StartDate < EndDate - if Qry_CheckForClash returns 0 records then '(uses a dlookup) - append from TEMP to BOOKINGS. - - else - compile an alert message to the user (appending the Room No and Date each iteration) - In Qry_CheckForClash, increase the StartDate by +1 - end if loop
My problem is that after the last step (increase StartDate by +1) the call to Qry_CheckForClash still returns the initial StartDate. But when I check the TEMP table, the StartDate has changed.
So how do I REFRESH or REQUERY a query that is not associated to a form or report?
Essentially I have a form_A with several tab's and then one list control box in each of those tabs. At present if you double click on any item within the control boxes your taken to another form_B with info about that item and when you close that from down again if refreshes form_A.
Is it possible to only refresh the specific list control box that is active instead of refreshing the whole form ?
Access 2007, Sql Server 2008 R2. Problem with refresh.
Form 1, (Single Form) Parent Form, contains Property Year Detail data. PK = PropYrDetID. This is a SINGLE FORM
Form 2, (Single Form) Child form, contains land square footage data from multiple records. PK = SPYDID FK = PropYrDetID. This is a SINGLE FORM.
The code below executes every time Form 1 opens, activates or whatever. The reason is that data in Form 2 changes frequently. Thus every time Form 1 opens the end user will see the latest data.
"Form 1" receives a series of values that it obtains from VBA code that runs when it opens or activates.
"Form 2" has the data being summarized in Form 1.
All of the code and queries below run fine and return the correct values from Form 2 to Form 1. My problem is Refresh on Form 1.
I've tried the code in the On Current, On Activate, On Load of Form 1. Mostly the data shows up in Form 1. Other times parts of the data are left out. I have to hit F5 or close and reopen the form, and then the data appears. When I don't see data on Form 1, I check the underlying table and the correct data exists. I don't know how to achieve a 100% refresh success. I have tried me.refresh and different Events all over the place.
All of the code below runs when Form 1 opens. Queries are fine, Equations are fine, Tests run fine. It's the results showing up that I am having the problem with.
I don't think the issue is with the code but with the Refresh. Here it is for your review.
The term "Equations" is the customers. There are 5 equations. Some have a series of tests after the Equation to determine the result.
Code:
Private Sub Form_Activate() Dim rs As Variant Dim varAOProp As Variant Dim varAOIni As Variant Dim varAOCert As Variant Dim varBORIni As Variant Dim varBORFinal As Variant
I have been using AYS2000 database example from Rogers access library. I have been in the process of modifying to meet my needs. Although I have run into a problem that was prevalent in the original database example. I have attached the original database for your reference.
Problem: At the bottom of the database beside the "New Response" button there are 2 combo boxes that allow you to select the survey and response in which you want to view in the subform. Although when selecting the response the subform does not always update the record in the subform. It would appear that the problem occurs only after a response has been previously selected. I have tried adding additional code to refresh and requery the subform already without any success.
I found 2 examples of code to refresh my attached table link to sharepoint lists.
I have a scheduled task open my Access 2010 db and an autoexec macro runs and closes the db.
My problem is my tables disconnect from sharepoint 2010 and the update fails.
I added the code I found to a module and added a line in my macro to run the code. Now I cannot get the code to work.
Am I at least on the right track? I just want to know before I spend many hours getting this code to work.
These are the two locations of code I found.

I think part of my problem is that I have a regular table that I add a txt file to that is not linked to sharepoint so I need to exclude it from the code.
I am using a DLookup to default a value in my TextBox. This text box has an event attached to it that updates a table when a different value is entered.
I am having difficulty in getting the default value to reappear when I change my criteria.
For instance Manufacturer is Ford
Colour is default Black
I Change the colour to red
now I change Manufacturer to Audi
I need Default colour to go back to Black
The Lookup Table says Black its just that the default value only seems to run once, first time in and never again unless i exit the database and reopen it.
I have tried adding
Form.Repaint form.Refresh Form.Requery to my afterupdate query
i have being requested to create a from that displays the number of files in different folders. I can accomplish this somewhat with the code below. In the example below it is only showing the code for the first 3 folders. I have 7 folders in total to count.
1.Each week the location of the data will change. In the example below it is showing 2014-W03, the following week it will be 2014-W04 etc. etc. I was thinking of having an input box in the form that the user type the date into, to trigger the code, but how would I go about changing the code to include this variable?
2.I need to repeat this code for 9 other products, so my form will be displaying data for 10 products in total. I know I could copy this code 9 times and modify it accordingly, but is it possible to loop it in some way?
Code: ' Returns the total number of fails Private Sub Form_Load() Dim file As Object Dim fileCount As Long With CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject").getfolder(" estmachineProduct1 FAILS2014-W03") For Each file In .Files
So I have a form which is showing the current record and you can scroll through these and make modifications to them from the form as opposed to using a table.
The form has the following fields populated from the main table
Customer name (Can appear more than once) Status Date Servers Positions
In addition it has several buttons for next record, previous record, first & last record, new record, delete record and update record. On this form i have a text box that i want to be able to use to search for a record using the customer name when you press the search button associated with it. I've got some code and it is mostly working but it seems to be moving the text entry cursor to the date box of the record for some reason.
What I want it to do is take the text from the search box and find it and move the form to that record.
Code: Private Sub btn_cstmr_srch_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) On Error GoTo HandleError Dim strFindWhat As String strFindWhat = Me.txt_cust_search.Value
I have small data base with many tables, one of them a table for equipment wit related details, as below fields.
1-EqipmentID 2-SerialNO 3-Model 4-Coustmer 6-City
I created one normal method query of ACCESS "QueryEQ" on that table , but every time I want to change any criteria I have to edit manual direct to query design .
What I need to do now is to create a form with one combo box showing all "model" and after select any mode I have to press command bottom to change the criteria of the model of the existing query "QueryEQ" and run it and show the result in a subform in same form.
I have a combo box that contains a list of values, but users can add their own if they choose. If the value they type in isn't on the list, the Not In List event fires. Once the procedure is done, the form inexplicably closes.
Oddly enough, it only closes under certain circumstances - the code provides several different options for saving the new data, and if I choose different options, the form works as its designed.
Further, if I insert a breakpoint anywhere in the code, then hit F5 to let the code run, the form works fine. Literally, the breakpoint can be anywhere in the procedure from the first line (On Err...) to the last line in the Exit block, "Exit Sub".
Private Sub Command79_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Command79_Click 'the following code is supposed to warn the user if there is no STOP filling time for each START filling time before the main form is closed
If [Text344] > #12:00:01 AM# Then If [Text365] >= [Text344] Then
I have a form where customer data is entered. one field serves as a criteria for a query. If, for example, A is selected in the form the query uses the criteria "A" in the X field f query. However, if B is selected in the form, the query uses the criteria "B" in Y field of query.
I can easily do this by setting up two queries and having criteria A run in X field of query and similarly for B. However, it seems as if there should be a way for me to have one query and simply use the criteria in a different field. So, is there VBA that will update a given query's SQL to use one criteria in one case and another critiera in another case?
I have a form (Form4) which has a a list box (list11) that allows multi select. When I select on the records I need I hit a button that opens a form up with the selected records. This form is a continuous form. I have an unbound combo box (Combo55). Its values come from a specific table. I want to hit a button and change the field "Assigned" on all the records showing to the value that I selected in Combo55.
The problem is it only changes the value of the currently selected record. How Do I get it to change the value of all records that are showing?
I am only testing this idea with default field names. Before I implement the database I have to get a working model and present it. So I am building this and naming at the moment isnt important.
I currently use code in a module and code on each form in the on_load event to change the icon of the form.. the code i use is as follows..
in a module:
Code: Private Declare PtrSafe Function GetSystemMetrics Lib "user32" (ByVal nIndex As Long) As Long Private Const WM_SETICON = &H80 Private Const IMAGE_ICON = 1 Private Const LR_LOADFROMFILE = &H10 Private Const SM_CXSMICON As Long = 49 Private Const SM_CYSMICON As Long = 50
[Code] ....
And on each form on load:
Code: SetFormIcon Me.hWnd, "k: est directoryhsicon.ico"
What I am wondering is would it be possible to store the .ico file within the DB file itself (i know access can store bitmaps) and reference the .ico in the form load event code?
Overtime the db file will probably move to its own dedicated storage so using a direct reference to the file wont work..
I have tried the following but get an error (it tries to reference the .ico file as to being in the root directory of the db file)
