Populate Table With Input From Form With Combo Box (multiple Fields)
Feb 21, 2011
I am using Access 2007 and have reviewed many blogs and looked at the Northwind db to try to solve this problem. I would like to create a form that functions in the same manner as the "Order Details" form in the Northwind db. Specifically, I want to create a form that will allow me to input a value and have the form get data from another table and populate the table I need populated.
I would like to populate a table "Outside", field names are Key, Name, term, Value, Date.
The table that contains the data is named "CV" and the filed names are Key, Name.
In the form, I would like to enter a value for Key into a combo box, and have it put the value for Key and for Name into the form, and allow me to enter whatever I want to in the Term, Value and Date field. When I tab out, I would like all this data to be in the table "Outside.

I'm trying to create a form using a combo box to populate multiple fields and tables.
I've created a text field to display the added information using this format:
=Comboboxname.Column(x)
in the text box control source field, and this works for display purposes. However, I need it to populate this data into a field on a table.
For example:
My combo box looks up data that has 2 columns, Part Number and Description.
The control source for the combo box is "Part Number". And that populates the part number in the "Main" table no problem.
The text box I created using the above format in the control source populates the field in the form, but not the "Main" table.
Is there a way for the other (description) field to also populate the "Main" table as well?

Trying to update fields (bound) on a form (built using the wizard) from value selected in a combo box. I can get this to work with unbound text boxes using an After Update event handler and a code query along the lines of:
Me!TxtJobCode1 = Me!CboJobDesc.Column(1)
But this doesn't work where the form field is bound to a table.
So qu is - how do I achieve the same result using table fields instead of text boxes?
I could use text boxes but not sure then how I can save that data as a record in the table if it is not bound to fields.
Any help appreciated
Andy

I am looking to add multiple lines of record to a sub-form via a module activated from another linked sub-form.
As an example of what I want to do:
On identifying a particular type of vehicle servicing (e.g. 6000 mile service, 12000 mile service) on a service event sub-form of a vehicle form, I want to enter a list of required parts (e.g. oil filter, oil, etc) on another sub-form called "parts", that I can then edit before recording in an underlying table.
Can anyone help.
Thanks
Steve

I would like to populate form fields with records from a table/query so that they are bound to the recordsource and the record to be displayed can be selected from a combobox. I am hoping that in this way, any changes made are propagated to the original table.
I have created a combobox from which the primary key can be selected and added all the fields from the table appearing on this form as values.
In my Change event for the combobox I have this code:
Private Sub cboID_Change()
Me.RecordSource = "SELECT b01_Participants.*FROM b01_Participants WHERE (((b01_Participants.ParticipantID)= " & cboID.Column(1) & "));"
Me.Refresh
End Sub
However, I receive an 3075 error when this code runs which seems to relate to my syntax or an extra ")".

[URL] ....I am trying to dynamically search multiple fields from a combo box on a form that includes a subform. I am using code from the above referenced link within this forum.
It works without the "setFocus" for the Listbox except it jumps to a record after the very first character is entered instead of narrowing down as characters are typed. If I leave in the "setFocus" I get run-time error 2110.

I have three tables with the following columns:
MoldReq
Mold_NoPart_NamePart_NoMaterialDateWork_Ord(Pri Key)
MoldLog
Log_IDMold_No(Pri Key)Part_NameLog_DateTime_InTime_OutHours
Molds
Mold_No(Pri Key)Part_NamePart_No
I am trying to build a form in the MoldReq section so when the user selects the mold number(combo box) it will auto populate the Part_Name and Part_No fields by pulling the data from the Molds table.
I have tried following this video where I create a change event:
Code:
Private Sub cboCombo31_Change()
Me.txtPart_Name.Value = Me.cboMold_No.Column(3)
Me.txtPart_No.Value = Me.cboMold_No.Column(4)
End Sub

I have form with an unbound combo box which is populated from a query
It should populate a field in a table which is related to another - however it only works when i query by id number (primary key) and not the text value i want - is it possible to query both so it returns say 1,option 1 - then when selected it will place a 1 in the table - which is related to option 1 in another table instead of just having to select '1' which will mean nothing to a user?

My database will be creating quotes based on employees entries. Each quote will be unique because of the part. Each part has the potential to have Precious Metals, and Base Metals included. The employee must select the number Precious Metals and Base Metals that a particular part has. The problem lies with what happens after this selection is made. There are three fields that need to be defined pertaining to each metal. I need the number selected to determine how many fields to make available. If there are two precious metals, I need to make the three fields available twice; one for both metals. I have the possibility for up to 5 Precious Metals and 10 Base Metals per part. How can I make the selection from a combo box populate that number of Metals Fields?

Hello everyone,
I was working on a database several months ago and I came across this forum while troubleshooting. I had to abandon the incomplete project for some time now, but I am back and ready to get this thing up and running!
My database used to be comprised of lookup tables and other things for each of the fields in my main table, but I have recently scratched that idea for simply using list boxes.
My main problem, I believe, is with my form. I am trying to have two combo boxes, a beginning date and end date, and a keyword text box, all used as criteria in a query.
Seems pretty simple, and I actually got the keyword text box to work, but the combo boxes and between dates critiria return all records.
Can someone double-check my work? I'm sure it's just a simple error, but I will attach a stripped-down database for anyone to look through.
Thanks ahead of time for anyones help, it is greatly appreciated!

Screen
Keyboard
Mouse Pad
Case
Hinge
So I've created 3 tables - one for each information group arranged like so. However my problems are - I don't know how to make it so that as soon as all the info for one set of parts is filled another set automatically appears? And in the Design section of the Form I have the following error because I wasn't too sure what to use apart from a text box-

I have a table called BID with the following fields
bidder, seller, iid, starttime, bidtime, and bidprice
bidder is an id number that is reference to uid of table USER
the USER table have the following fields,
uid, uname, city, and state
I created a BID form for the user to enter data into the BID table. What I am trying to do but is having trouble with is have the user search for their name that may already be store in the uname field in the user table, and what ever they choose base on their search, the uid of this uname gets store into the bidder field of the bid table.
I still have a second step where the user in the bid form can search the iid but shows the itemname from the item table, and the value of seller, iid, and starttime from the auction table gets populated into the bid table.
iid from the auction table is reference to the itemtype and the following fields exist in the itemtype table.
iid, itemname, description

I have the following tables:
tblProjects
ProjectsID (Primary key - exclusive)
ClientProjects
tblProjectsDetails
ProjectsDetailsID (Primary key)
ClientProjectsDetails (Secondary key)
tblQuotes
QuotesID (Primary key - exclusive)
ClientQuotes
Service
Rate
tblQuotesDetails
QuotesDetailsID (Primary key)
ClientQuotes (Secondary key)
Service
Rate
I have the following forms:
fmProjects
fmProjectsDetails (parent/child)
fmQuote
fmQuotesDetails (parent/child)
When I add a project I need to have data from the tblQuotes and tblQuotesDetails to populate tblProjects and tblProjectsDetails respectively.
It is very easy to populate tblProjects from tblQuotes since it is a single record. Therefore I use:
Me.ClientProjects = Me.ClientQuotes
The question is: how to match the data of the 2 subforms? Since there will be more than one record per subform?
Any help is really appreciated.

I'm creating a form that will have a combo box and several other fields on it. From the combo box, I want to be able to select a line from the combo box, click on the line and then have the form's other fields get populated.
I know I have to have the combo box and fields tied to either a table or to an underlying query, but what might be my best way to get the form populated?
Should I, in code tied to the form, run some coded SQL based on what I select and use the SQL results, or should I use something like recordsetclone, of which I have no experince?
Thanks inadvance to thoe who respond!! I reallyappreciate your help!!

I've designed a data entry form based on a table. I use a few combo boxes, (linked via SQL statements for their row/source) to fill most of the fields in the table.
What I want to do is populate one textbox on the form with the contents of a field in one of the combo box's row/source tables. The field I want isn't shown in the combo box.
Basically, what I want is that when I choose a PART NUMBER from a combo box, I want the OEM_ID from the same table to jump into the textbox below it.
I think I may have tied myself in knots though to the point where what I want can't be done. Any ideas? I know this is probably going to take a couple of goes at explaining. :P

Code:
=DLookUp("[upMobile]","tblRepName","[tblRepName].[repContactMobile] = " & Str([upRepName].[Text]))
in the form when viewing the data.

I have a table that has fields for number input
On my form I have in a TAB form 3 fields to input a figure, in the table these are set up as a Text NOT a Number. If i set it as a Number it keeps rounding up? even after i enforce 2 decimal places it still keeps rounding up.
Field 1 - 42988.62
Field 2 - 0.00
Field 3 - -14330.84
I then created a unbound txtbox so I can add these up
=[ResBF]+[ResRefReC]+[ResSurDef]
what i get in return is this :- 42988.620.00-14330.84
I also tried =Sum([ResBF]+[ResRefReC]+[ResSurDef])
and that just comes up with #Error
I even tried in the table directly to have a calculated field and still having the same problems.
