I try to to set the value of a text box through code and it will always display the same value in every record. I think i cant display a recordset in a text box. What way i use so that i can display my values in the text box.
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Dim qry As String, rst As Object
qry = "SELECT tbl_EquipmentChronology.Equipment1 FROM tbl_EquipmentChronology INNER JOIN tbl_events ON tbl_events.TicketNum=tbl_EquipmentChronology.Ticke tNum where tbl_events.TicketNum=" & Forms!tbl_PPVResearch_Edit!frm_Events!TicketNum & " and tbl_events.PPVVOD_Outlet=tbl_EquipmentChronology.O utlet"
Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset(qry)
rst.MoveFirst
Do While Not rst.EOF
Forms!tbl_PPVResearch_Edit!frm_Events![Text2] = rst!Equipment1
rst.MoveNext
Loop
End Sub
In Access 2010 I have a Data Entry Form on which I have an unbound textbox in the header that the user can put a default date in. In the body of the form is a bound textbox that records the date and the default value is set as =defaultdatestat (obviously the name of the box in the header).
Problem: The default date shows up perfectly until a value is put in any of the other text boxes.
For further info : If you put values in text boxes default value disappears; if you then push escape the default value reappears when the values in the text boxes disappear.
I have a table (tblPrinterSelection) with three fields: Autonumber, DocType, PrinterSel
There are three types of values for "DocType"; "Document", "LargeLabel", "SmallLabel"
I want to assign a "PrinterSel" to each type of "Doctype", which basically means that the user selects the type of document and then the printer in a form that has the code below and then I need the code to automatically update the table.
Code: Dim PrintSel As String Dim DocType As String 'Assign a value to the printer selected variable PrintSel = Me.lblPrinterSelected.Caption If IsNull(Me.frmDocType) Then MsgBox "No document type selected."
[code]....
What i am looking for is code that would pick the value for "DocType" and "PrintSel" assigned here and add them to the table so that I can use that info later.
I am only looking to have three rows in that table so if the "DocType" does not exist then a new row is created but if it does, only the value of "PrintSel" is updated.
I should end up with something like this:
1 Document Epson 2 LargeLabel HP 3 SmallLabel Canon
This is what I am using to count the occurances of the text "Official copy" form a combobox. however, it returns a value of zero. TRANSCRIPTS is the name of the table and Transcript type is the name of the combobx.
Hello, in my Access database there is quite a bit of VBA code. I have set my LAN and file path in some of this code but will need to change it when this database will get to other users using a different LAN and path.
Is there a way I can avoid them to open the code and manually change this information? I was thinking of some sort of text box where they will write their path (ex. \S01000sharedoffice*.*) and use a cmdbutton to overwrite the existing path?
I have a table by name "newtab" and I was trying to import a tab delimited text file "newdata.txt" into newtab. The first line in the text file are the column names: SSN, Lastname, FirstName (all tab delimited though). The same field names exist in the destination file. However I am getting the error which says the "the field name SSN Lastname FirstName does not exist in the destination file" What could possibly be the problem? Since the field names are not separated in the error message, could it be that it is seeing all 3 field names as one and therefore cannot match them to the destination fields? Does that mean TAB cannot be used as the delimiter? Using the interactive IMPORT from access directly for the same files work really good though. However, I would like to do this programmatically since the files would be coming in weekly for me to load and they are many such files. The command I used is as below. Please I need help.
I'm trying to figure out how to link a text file to my database with VBA. I know how to do this for other types of data sources, using the DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink command, but need guidance using this with TXT files.
I have two forms sourced from one table. if the address of a client has changed then there is a Command button that opens a form to enter the previous address.
What I want is for the text on the command button to change to red if there is a previous address filled in. I have seen it done but cannot copy the code. What I have is on the OnCurrent event of the (main form)
Dim InColor As Integer InColor=255
Me.[Command126].Forecolor=(And what I want to say here is "If the field previousaddress is not null then ...)*255
Any ideas??? (I wanted to have the database completed before the New Year (less than 12 hours to go!!!)
I need to create a command button to import a tab delimited text file into a table in Microsoft Access using VBA Code.
I have set up the button however I am unsure as to how I should approach it and what code i need. If anybody has any suggestions I would be very grateful.
I have a file that I need to import on a regular basis. There are two different issues with the import:
1. the first digit in the file indicates if it is a record I want to keep. In this case a 1 indicates a repair record and an 8 indicates it is just information such as email, contact info etc.
2. I have a field in the file that may change the import specifications
For example:
If the record is a Non wheel repair then column 167 is a 50 character description If the record is Wheel repair then column 167 is a 28 character description and the remaining 22 characters are broken down into 10 different fields
So I need to do the following
1. Read the first character in the line and determine if it is a number 1 and if not discard it 2. Read a field in column 109 that is two characters long and if it says it is a wheel repair the import will break column 167 -216 down to the appropriate 11 fields and if it is a non wheel repair it will import columns 167 - 216 as one big description field.
I have used the import specifications with Access but it seems this will have to be done in code in a module or something and I am not very good with VB. (only know the basics)
One other issue is I have dates in the file that are 130225 and 1302 (so full date and then Year/Month) if i take out the / date separator in the import spec the full date works but the Year/Month doesn't.
I have a combo box which has a table/query row source type. For the row source, I want to use a query that contains some data from text boxes on the form. I'm currently trying:
SELECT [LAB],[COAT] FROM [University] WHERE [COLOR]=tbColor.value AND [TYPE]=tbType.value;
Although this is a valid query, I don't get any results when used as a row source. No errors, just no results.
i have been struggling on this database that i am developing for a while and i haven't found a solution yet.
i have a Two tables
Table 1 "Attendance" with fields Attendance ID, Hours, Group ID.
table 2 "Days" fields, Day ID Week beginning Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Hours
now i have created a form from these two tables, and what i wanted was each day of the week i will input a value under the day and i wanted it to be added up and then the result outputted to the "Hours" Box.
My dilema is that although i have figured out how to add up the fields in the form view by changing the Control source for the Hours box to something like =[Monday]+[Tuesday]....[Friday] this will only display the value in form view, the table will not update. i guess this is because the control source is not relating to te table anymore.
so if someone has some other ideas i would appreciate it. regards Yusef
This is almost a cross-forum post. I started a post in the reports forum to see if it were possible to sort/group the data by field values. Everyone knows this can be done row-by-row, but I was looking for a way to do it horizontally as well.
It should look something like that where the years are values of [year] field and the seasonal quarters are values of [quarter] field.
I have been searching for something that will help me do this when I ran across information on the "crosstab" query. This, in principal is what I am looking for BUT I am not dealing with numeric data here. Is there still a away to make a crosstab query/report with text fields where there would normally be numeric data?
I have a main data entry form (frmpartquote). From this form I would like to open a new form (products) to create a sub set of records.
When I open the new form to add products to a main quote I would like to transfer the quotenumber on the quote form to the quotenumberfield in the products form.
I use the following code in the on open event in the product
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) If IsOpen("frmpartquote") Then partquotenumber.DefaultValue = Forms!FrmPartQuote!partquoteid End If End Sub
Now this works fine as long as the field is a number.
However I would like to use tartquotenumber as a text field
I have an unbound text box. I put a value, run an append query and append the value to the table. I want to know if I can delete the value in the text box automatically when the append query excutes. I am using a macro to run the append query.
I have a textbox in a report that I would like to calculate the sum of values that are less than 600.Then have a second textbox that counts the number of records that have values less than 600..This is based off of a query with calculated fields..I have been working with a formula that looks something like this
=Sum(IIf([BaleETime]="<600",0))
But all I get is a value of 0.BaleETime is the elapsed time between bales.
Hello, I have two newbie questions. First, when I design a checkbox in Form design view, how do I program or script the form so it will enter a "1" value on the corresponding tables database per column. (Just like in the option group design, where a click on each option generates a specific value on the tables database).
Second, how can I design the form where it can accept text strings as input and displays them 'as is' in the corresponding tables database as a text string.
