Updating Unbound Textbox On Form Per Record Viewed

Hey, I am trying to figure out how to update an unbound textbox on a form to reflect conditional data in other boxes when each record is viewed (pages works with reports but I cant find something similar with forms). such as if I had an unbound textbox that I want to = firstname+" "+lastname I would want for it to update it every time a user goes to the next record.. I can't seem to figure out a command or method that executes every time someone goes to the next record.. (and Im not too familiar with all the commands that come without a GUI).. thanks for your time
I have created a Production Tracking database for my company using Access 2003. Everyone here uses Access 2000, so I have saved the file as an access 2000 database. I am importing three tables from an ODBC connection. These tables are being update by another department constantly. I am using a centralized form for users to view the information.
If the users are viewing the information and we try to update the tables they are viewing, we get an error. My question is: Is there a way around this problem?
This what I have done: In the module I wrote, I am importing the tables, then renaming them to the tables the users are viewing, and then altering the structure of one of the tables. We cannot use linked tables, the reason is we have only three licenses to access the software through the ODBC connection. So as soon as three people open the access database they take those three connections.
I am building a Inventory Management Application for Tyre Shop. I have SaleMainTbl and SaleDetailTbl both used for preparing daily sale summary. I have Mainform based on SaleMainTbl with TxnDate and Total Amount (Sale) and the TxnDate is in one to many relation with SaleDetailTbl. FormSaleDetail is multiple row(continuous) form that makes billwise summary of each day having -TxnDate--BillNo--ItemSold--Company--Qunatity--Rate--Amount fields. I have inserted this form in FormSaleMainTbl.
So FormSaleMainTbl is Main form and FormSaleDetail is subform. TxnDate in FormSaleDetailTbl is automatically taken from SaleMainForm. I have further added text boxes in Main Form to show company wise sale for each day for which there is a query build one for each company that takes the currently loaded date from FormSaleDetail and calculates the Sale (Sum) of each brand (Company) of Tyres. All these objects are working very fine. However I have to close the MainForm and reopen it for result of query to appear in the appropriate text box in Main form.
Is there way to do this as soon as record is entered or at least at the end of completing the entry of each days sale transactions without closing the form. So the gist of the problem is realtime display of query result in text box on a form or updating the form screen immediately on updating any record or at the most after completing the updating of form but without having to close the form.
I have a form (frmHourEnter) with a textbox (Week_No_Calc) which has a calculation, in Control Source, based on another textbox. After exiting from Week_No_Calc how can I get a field (Week_No) in table (tblHourEnter) to be updated with the calculated value?
My form has a listbox (lstHeatTreatments - Multi-Select disabled) that displays Heat Treatment descriptions and an unbound textbox (txtHTDetails) that I would like to have display the corresponding memo field when a description is selected from the listbox.

I have a unbound text box in the form header and have a command button in form I am wanting to put the unbound textbox value into a bound textbox on form.
I'm trying to populate a form textbox which is unbound.
I have table with a list of peoples login names and a query filtering these names once a user logs in. If the GetUserName() matches one of the names in the table then user is authorised. this part seems to be working fine. User not on the GetUserName() list the filter says blank ie Not Authorized.
How to take this confirmed user name and place it into a textbox on a form?
Table name: [tblUserNames] with [IngEmpID] & [UserName]
Query Name: [qryUserNames] with a Criteria GetUserName()
I have a form with one (field1) on it. Where users will enter data.
I would like to have a unbound textbox on the same form that will flash green if the data entered in field1 matches a value in Table. Or flash red if it doesnt find a match.
I tried the conditional formatting but i think my expressions are off.
I have a form with a bound combo box. There is an unbound text box for display purposes only that is supposed to reflect the third column of the combo box for the current record.
I set it's default value at [cmbPartyType].[Column](2) .
It works for the first record. but when I scroll through the records, the box keeps the value that was appropriate for the first record. how can I get it to look at that combo box on every form? Even if I am not update records, just looking at them?
What I would like to do is have a field in a given record increment itself every time that record is selected. For example, say you have a table that stores items in the inventory: each item has a times_search_for_field.
Now, lets say a user runs a search which results in the following SQL:
SELECT * FROM Inventory WHERE experation_date=Today();
Now I want to have every record returned by that SQL statement increment it's times_search_for_field incremented by one. I'm just looking for the most efficiant way to do this.
I know I chould just have my asp .net code loop through the results and call an SQL UPDATE statement for each record, but it seems there should be a more efficient way of doing this.
I have a form, which is bound to a table, with an unbound textbox.
I am trying to get the number of months an employee has/had worked.
In the table are two dates, Company Start Date, and Resignation Date.
There are three scenarios in which I need to calculate the months:No Resignation Date
A Resignation Date in the future A Resignation Date in the Past

The Employees are under a one-year contract which ends the day before the one-year anniversary.
I originally tried using DateDiff in the Control Source, but the IIF seamed too limited for my needs.

I have a main form "frm_main", and a subform "tbl_main" in continuous form which is linked to the table "tbl_main".
I want to be able to click on the record, then the infor will appear in textbox on the main form. I also want to be able to change the value in the textbox and on after update, it will update that record on the subform as well.

Hi: There are two textboxs in my main form. One is bound and another is unbound. There is no entry in the unbound textbox as values come into automatically after entering some information in the subform. My question is how to i pass values from unbound textbox to bound textbox every time when the value change in unbound textbox i need to change the value in the bound textbox. When the form load there is already value in the bound textbox which i want to override based on the values from the unbound textbox.
I am updating an old Access app. The first form, FORM_A, of the app displays in maximized window - as I want them all to display. I click on a button to open a new form, FORM_B, and do whatever I need to on that form, close that window to return to the first window, FORM_A. When I do, FORM_A is now displaying much smaller.
FORM_A's Has Modal property is =Yes.
When I try to change the "Has Modal" property to NO, it alerts me that all the module and macro code will be deleted - and it is. I made a copy before continuing so I still have a copy of it.
I have the OnLoad event set to a macro that short maximizes the window. I use the same macro for the On Focus event, but it does not change the display on focus.
I've tried changing it to Has Modal = No, then copying the old code back into the blank module for that form - doesn't change the display of FORM_A.
I have a form that calls up an employee that also lists their hire date. I have an unbound text box that calculates the years of service by DateDiff(). It works for the first record but sticks for all the subsequent records. I've tried an afterUpdate or Change on the bound Hire_Date text box that is Me.txtYearsOfService = DateDiff("yyyy",Me.Hire_Date,Now) but it still sticks to the first record.
I'm sure this is basic but can't see the obvious. Please relieve the pain.
Hi all, I am experiencing problems trying to put together what I thought was a simple form that would allow users to search for data from a field on one table and display the results in a data grid style from the query I have created. However the query is'nt working and I am sure it is because of the way I have coded the query to read from the form's textbox. The SQL code is below.

There is a value in that field as 'attachment' and if I type that in the textbox it will find the records that have exactly that string but if I type 'att' there are no results. I tried searching in help for 'Like' since I believe that is the problem with my code but it did not show me an example of how to code that in the query to refer to the object on the form.

I'm having a problem with one of my forms, i have created an unbound text box called Hours. In it i will type a number. Then click on a button to create a report based on this number.
what is happening though is that when i click the report button the report is blank, if i close the report and then click the button again i get the expected results. What seems to happening is that after i click the button the first time the form refreshes itself and the number is picked up.
Is there any snippit of code i could add to the print report button so it will work first time?
Can anyone help me out here. I need to use an unbound text control to return me a value if a field is populated else "Local" if the field is not populated. Can anyone tell me if this is possible and show me the syntax if it is. Help appreciated. Andy

i have an unbound form where users can enter as much or as little as they'd like to search the database. i'd like to have default values for two unbound textboxes for initial date and ending date. i was wanting to put in 1/1/1999 for initial and 1/1/2050 (or another high number) for ending date. however, when i put those values in the Default Value property for each textbox, it changes to 12/30/1899..for both the initial and ending dates...how do i get my dates to show up?
I have a form that uses a query as its control source. The problem I have is that on this form I have an unbound textbox that I need to show the result of another query in. I thought I could do this by using =[Query]![QueryName]![Field name] in its control source, but this isn't working.
